Jiran's rapid ascensions through the tiers have been nought but meteoric. His growth beyond the norm. But he has only begun to understand the intricate gifts he’s earned, and he is out of time. The empire is out of time. A reckoning is coming, and they are not prepared.
The Graymin rulers have taken notice of Jiran’s unusual powers, and their greed knows no bounds. Unfortunately, divination of those beyond one’s tier is a known impossibility, and so the empire is unaware of the tide of destruction poised to wash it away.
Oblivious to the looming danger, Jiran has set upon an adventure in a new land. With Mayalyn and Niya at his side, the trio must unravel the mysteries of a unique and enchanting race, because beneath their exotic beauty, resides a secret that could save everything they hold dear.
Behind the curtains, an enemy hides in the empire’s shadow, prepared to strike when all hope seems lost. Meanwhile, Madra’s manipulations continue to unfold; her will unbending as the season’s that scour her surface.
But within every tragedy there lies a ray of hope, within every misfortune a path to power, and within every being that inhabits the planet stuck on hard mode rests the chance for greatness.
With new powers and allies, Jiran has the pieces needed to save his home, his people. All he has to do is put them together before it's too late.
Went from Favorite Series to most Disgusting Series.
I was loving the series and the whole system and set up, story and characters all was great. Then the author seemed to go total teenage boy fantasy mode. Writing great interesting story to writing low harem erotic of MC trying to bed every pretty girl he sees.
Like seriously did the author pull the worst cliche in harem series. The, You're a strong 'man' so you need many women to satisfy you, you can't just have one. Really? Would the MC be totally find with it if Mayalyn his partner went and got herself some extra male lovers? What if she just went around cuddling men or petting them on the head like he does to women? Would he be fine with it?
This book goes into total neckbeard land with that fantasy. Going so far to make a whole race of 'beautiful' women only dryads that worship him. Really? Then having centuries old tier 10 women also flustered and staring at him with want too? Every girl is literally 'licking their lips' when looking at him as the author puts it.
Seriously, the other books were just plain good fiction with great story and a love interest that wasn't out of the realism. Now it's suddenly every girls greatest dream to bed the MC?
Did the author go on a celibate streak and now is writing it out their pent up fantasies for this book? I'm dropping the series. I have no interest in harem erotica.
If you want a series focused on the story and not how many women the MC can Captain Kirk to bed. I'd suggest dropping this one.
If you're all about that harem erotica where the MC is wooing every woman every ten feet. Where no other males in the story are at all attractive to those women for some reason. Where the women are fine with him bedding every single girl but never once think if they'd like more men for themselves. This might just be for you. ~~~~
Unless the MC's girlfriend suddenly decides she needs more male partners, I think the way this series is going is just a waste.
The author should be ashamed of ruining what was a great series by going for the harem cliche. They really didn't need to do that. It's like they started painting the mona lisa then slapped a fuzzy mustache on it at the end for laughs. Just why? Do you take no pride in your writing? Did you not think it was good enough without plying to a young boy's fantasy of all the women wanting the MC?
The writing was good enough, the story was good enough. you didn't need to go 'oh and he gets all the women to sleep with too!'. Just....so sad.
Love seeing the cousins together again. Jiran’s so clueless when it comes to the Princess it makes me chuckle. I love this team. I hope they stick together and grow stronger together.
Brilliant world building by Tora AKR. I’m anxious to read more about Jiran and crew.
It's sad; this series went from very good to very mediocre with this book. I loved the world building, the system behind it and the interactions between characters. This book threw most of it out of the window and created, what is also mentioned in another book, something like a harem light. The MC feels to be dragging his feet most of the book, just playing around a bit. I do hope that the author will get back to writing like he/she did in the earlier three installments.
The haram aspect is disgusting and ruins what would otherwise be a good book. I’ll never understands people’s obsession with having everyone fawn over the main character. It’s an unrealistic point of view that takes away from the reality of the scenario.
This story of a young man who gets the memory of a earth data analyst and kick his soul to the curb was a very interesting entertaining read that I really enjoyed reading.
This series, which started with such promise, is really starting to lose me. The biggest issue by far is that the scope of this series is way too broad for the author to handle.
The first book was a small, character-led story that focused on a boy who could apply a hack of advanced scientific knowledge from our world to enhance his magical abilities in his own world. Mixed with a charming (if slightly juvenile) writing style and a healthy dose of guilty-pleasure wish fulfilment, and you had a story with a tight focus that is a joy to read.
The next book pushed away the character-led elements to focus on plot-led storytelling. It threw away most of the established focus of the story to that point and drastically expanded the scope of the story before it was ready. It also doubled down on the juvenility and wishfulfillment to uncomfortable levels. What remained was a story that had lost the hook of a character-led story and the focus of a single concept executed well. In its place was a story that struggled to maintain my attention while simultaneously flooding me with new, complex knowledge without giving me a reason to want to know about any of it.
The third book pulled the story a little closer to what was set up in the first book, and it was good whenever it focused on that, but it also couldn't help trying to continue expanding the scope beyond what this story could comfortably handle. That book finished before it stabilised the story back to more solid foundations.
Now, in this book, it is off trying to expand the scope yet again, and by this point, it is really losing my interest. There is a lot here that has the potential to be interesting, but it is crowded out by so much that hasn't had the room to be developed properly that it's hard to care about anything. Also, it's continuing to double down on the juvenility and wish fulfilment, taking it to a level where it is so out of balance with the rest of the story that it is just uncomfortable now and no longer a guilty pleasure.
When this story focuses on the elements that were present and relevant in the first book (the magic system and characters introduced there, and nothing more), this story is enjoyable. Whenever it is focused on anything else, my attention is increasingly slipping. I have the next book downloaded and ready to go, but honestly, if I didn't, I probably wouldn't bother.
First, you MUST have read the previous 3 books to understand what's going on.
As usual, the writing is great, the story is interesting, the magic is intriguing. For that I would give it 5 stars. Hands down. And I have given the previous 3 that rating.
The problem (-2 stars) is the harem-like intimations that are starting to appear. I don't go for that. The protagonist is a genuinely nice guy. He has a girlfriend who he loves. And yet. His group consists almost exclusively of females (I say females because there are at least 4 different species so far). And everyone is an individual with their own opinions and personalities. However, it seems every female is beautiful. Every female gets hot and bothered when they are around him and want him. To the credit of the author/protagonist he is almost clueless of this. But, really? And on top of that, when one of them (not his girlfriend) starts talking about courting and marrying him, it just so happens that she and the girlfriend are friends and have already talked about sharing him and are okay with it. BUT only if he is "man" enough to "claim" both of them (both words that were actually written). This is sending me red flags. If there had been any actual physical connection other than him kissing his girlfriend I would have stopped immediately. On the other hand, you do you. If it works for you, on an individual (or couple, or triple) basis, then fine. In this case though, it is EVERY female that goes for him. I don't like that. Harems are demeaning.
I'll have to think hard if I want to continue the series.
The series was a decent middle of the road, low brainpower required time-waster until this book where not only the author is desperate in wasting time but also devolved into low tier anime harem garbage.
Adventures time in the land of zealot trees and hyper cliché Wuxia birds is a never-ending bore without any of the interesting bits that made the similar island vacation of previous books work.
Skipped around a bit to speed up during the worst parts and even with that I felt the book was stretched too thin. I dont think i'll check any sequel.
This is rapidly going off the rails. Everyone of higher tier is just shitty, even if they are the "good guys". The "bad guys" are so grim dark, and pathetically evil it is becoming exhausting. And the PoV changes, sweet cheeses. There are now so many, for so long, for so many different people, and in such a shifting timeline order that I've just started skipping them because they are actively detracting from the story.
One more book of this and I likely won't even finish it or continue the series.
Another great world. Great new characters introduced and growth in the characters we already love. The action and combat is not only exciting and well written it's also intelligent not just blind bloody fighting but the mc had to think and innovate on the fly. Oh yeah and another budding romance I'm so excited about. The only downside and warning I'll give is this ends on a big cliff hanger so be ready. Still so worth it. Highly recommended.
Fourth book continues to be as good as the previous three
Fast paced story with quickly developing OP MC. Lots of action supported by world building, character development, and very minor romance. Gist is MC who is a mix of chosen one and can leverage modern day scientific knowledge in medieval fantasy world. Very enjoyable, even on rereading.
Already a barely average series, two big things are causing me to drop it. 1) The author is making it into a harem series. 2) All women are portrayed as emotional manipulators. Also one smaller thing, the series plot basically didn't feature in this volume.
Was tough to finish, started losing interest half way in. It was OK, but a lot felt bad, a lot of the situations he found himself in felt bad, developing a harem with Olive felt bad, and other stuff felt bad. I'll read the next one, but I hope its better.
These books have become too ridiculous. Besides far too many absurdities, they are completely Simp and feminist to the extreme.
Edit. The story was actually intriguing and memorable, despite my grievances, and I actually find myself (3 months later) wondering about this series. It's funny how even with it being so feminist, the feminists are still complaining- because it's suddenly (and finally) not 100% SimpPathetic. Typical left. And I have no issue with the harem aspect. It's only logical with such a high value/powerful male. +1 star for keeping my curiosity months later. Maybe I'll pick up the next book..
