The Silk Sisters--longtime friends Janelle, Sandra and Vicki--have turned their business savvy into a top-tier event agency. And in the wealthy enclave of Wintersage, Massachusetts, there's an abundance of lavish parties, society drama and longing hearts to keep them busy.
Growing up among the powerful and privileged, formal-wear designer Sandra Woolcott learned early on to never show weakness--just smile and hold your head high. And ten years ago, when her young heart was broken, she learned just how strong she really was....
When Isaiah Jacobs left for the Naval Academy, he said he didn't want to hold Sandra back--although he really wanted to hold on to her forever. Sandra let him go, masking her hurt with a glittering social life and career. Now Isaiah is back in Wintersage to care for his ailing father. And when he and Sandra meet again, it's all they can do not to fall for each other once more.
But they've built such different lives, and so many years have passed--is their long-ago love worth the risk? Can they bury the pain of the past and build a promising future together?
A native of Chicago’s Southside, Phyllis Bourne began her writing career as a crime reporter for the Ft. Wayne News-Sentinel and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. After years of chasing cops and criminals, she left reporting to write about life’s sweeter side.
Nowadays her stories are filled with heart-stopping heroes and happy endings. Phyllis is 2010 RT Book Reviews nominee for Best Multicultural Romance, as well as a two-time Romance Writers of America Golden Heart finalist. When she’s not writing, she can usually be found at a make-up counter feeding her lipstick addiction. Phyllis currently resides in middle-Tennessee.
Formal-wear designer Sandra Woolcott makes a bet with her Dad that she can cook Thanksgiving dinner for her family. It's common knowledge that Sandra's a total disaster in the kitchen, but after hearing her parents talk/brag about how wonderful their friend's daughter Ivy is---the girl can do no wrong, she cooks like a chef, she's married, has kids, etc...Sandra becomes jealous and makes a bet with her father that she can make a delicious (and edible) turkey dinner with all the trimmings. And she must somehow learn how to do this by Thanksgiving! In the meantime, Sandra has just run into her old high school sweetheart, Isaiah Jacobs, who is back in town visiting his parents. He left town ten years ago to go to the Naval Academy and became a lieutenant because his family pressured him to do it. But now he's retired and wants to pursue his own dreams. While Isaiah's in town for a few weeks he offers to teach Sandra how to cook.
This was a really fun and enjoyable story! Sandra was a cute and spunky heroine. Her Dad put her down a lot because he wanted her to work in the family business, but she was doing very well with her own business, Swoon Couture, which catered to the wealthiest women in Wintersage. I also liked her best friends, Vicki and Janelle. Isaiah was a good hero. I liked how he was very supportive of Sandra and her career and how he tried to help Sandra win the cooking bet with her father. This book had some funny moments and great/likable characters. I also liked how the story took place during Halloween and Thanksgiving. This was an enjoyable reunited lovers romance with a good main couple with great chemistry!
Sandra and Isiah had always been best friends, until Isiah went away to the service because that's what his parents wanted him to do. Isiah had always wanted to be an artist, but let that go to satisfy his parents. He did his time, came back home to Wintersage for a while, but planned on leaving right after thanksgiving. That is, until he and Sandra meet back up. They begin hanging out and can't seem to tear themselves away from each other. But they both continue to proclaim they are just friends who are having a good time. The day after thanksgiving, Sandra drops Isiah off to the airport so he can go to London to pursue his art degree. When she gets back home from shopping with her two best friends, Isiah is sitting on the stoop. They both have to admit something they both knew but neither wanted to admit. They are in love all over again, just like so many years ago. Will Isiah really stay this time and pursue the love of his life? Read: January 2016
Falling into Forever is the second installment of the Wintersage Wedding Series by Phyllis Bourne. Sandra Woolcott and Isaiah Jacobs were high school sweet hearts that were destine to marry one day. But, when Isaiah decided to go to the Naval Academy after graduation, Sandra let him go and quietly nursed her broken heart. After a ten year absence, Isaiah returned to Wintersage and found Sandra to be more beautiful than he remembered. He also discovered that she was faced with a dilemma that he wanted to help her overcome. In the process of helping her, the two realized that they never really let each other go.
In Falling into Forever, Bourne addressed an issue that so many people face in their lives – pleasing their parents. Sandra and Isaiah were able to find a way to earn their parents respect and rekindle their romance. This story was romantic, funny and very HOT!! Fans of the series will definitely enjoy this story as they eagerly await the final installment.
Loved this so much. It was low in conflict between the two leads, but it was so enjoyably intricate in terms of Sandra and Isaiah both coming to terms with & strengthening their own senses of self and who they wanted to be. It was a joy seeing them fit each other into their lives and cheer each other on.
It was also perfect seasonal timing, as the book covered Halloween/U.S. election season/Thanksgiving. And despite the stressful nature of those things, it was still an excellent comfort read.
I enjoyed all 3 books, but Sandra and Isaiah may be my favorite couple. I thought their reunited first loves story was nicely done. And her parents? They were too much! This author always has a smart, sassy feel to her books, which I always enjoy.
I loved little Mason! Looking forward to seeing more of him in Book 3.
Wonderful "High School Sweethearts" back together again type of story.....It made my heart tingle as I read their love story. They had excellent passion and great chemistry together. It was nice and so sweet how the reconnected, and got their HAE!!!
The only thing that got on my nerves was the heroines Father.....I mean I understand how we can have overbearing parents, who "just want the best for us", but his remarks towards her were a bit much for my taste.....He laid it on a little too thick concerning her cooking skills if you ask me......
I digress....It was worth the read, and I can't wait to read the third and final story in this series......again Enjoyed the story very much!!!
The second book in the Wintersage Weddings series, Phyllis's Bourne's Falling into Forever doesn't disappoint. The story follows Sandra Woolcott a fashion designer, who makes a bet with her father to cook Thanksgiving dinner by herself. She's a horrible cook, and her family constantly bashes her about it, and Sandra is on the verge of giving up, as losing the bet would mean she would have to date the obnoxious Dale Mills.
Isaiah, recently returned home from the military, now seeks to pursue his career in London studying at a graphic design school. He is only home for a few weeks, including the Thanksgiving holiday, to visit friends and family.
Isaiah and Sandra had been high school sweethearts, but after they left to pursue their own dreams and careers, their relationship seemed to come to an end. Now that Isaiah's back, their reunion is pretty sweet. Sandra and Isaiah try to convince each other that they are only friends, but it's obvious they still desire each other.
Isaiah ends up helping Sandra win her bet by teaching her how to cook. I love that Isaiah was patient with her whenever she messed up, and it showed that he really did care for her and wanted her to succeed. I loved the funny moments of Sandra's cooking fiasco, like the cayenne pepper french toast. There is an interesting twist toward the end of the book that I didn't see coming, when Sandra is faced with having to cook dinner at literally the last minute.
This was an overall sweet story. I loved Sandra and Isaiah's relationship, as well as the tone this story set about the importance of family and listening to one another. This is a great story to read around the Thanksgiving holiday, as the author does a great job in setting the tone and feel of autumn in Wintersage, Massachusetts.
I really, really enjoyed Falling into Forever. Phyllis Bourne has a talent for building reasonable amounts of suspense in a story despite the foregone happily-ever-after. It's not so much will-they-or-won't-they; there are other questions that need to be answered before Sandra and Isaiah get the lovely happy ending they so thoroughly deserve. And they're answered well.
Can't remember the last romance novel I read with such thoroughly likable leads. They're not implausibly flawless (beyond an appropriate amount of romance novel idealization), so they feel real enough that you're truly rooting for them. And they like each other! (I'm not a huge fan of the "first they hate each other then there's sexual tension now everyone's in love!" plot configuration, so it's nice to read a well-written story where they like each other from the beginning and the obstacles to their being together are external.)
This story is just so sweet and so much fun. It's really a testament to Phyllis Bourne's awesome skills as a writer that she can create a place as picturesque and Just Right as Wintersage, and a couple as beautiful and talented and rich and smart and cool and hardworking as Sandra and Isaiah—and you buy into it all 100%. (I want to move to Wintersage and skulk around eating cupcakes and going to townwide Halloween parties.)
Anyway, totally loved this. Very smart, super romantic, sexy, and just good. Will definitely be seeking out more by Phyllis Bourne.
I read book 1 and 2 out of order and HAD to go back and purchase book 1 and happily book 3 as soon as it came out. This is a wonderful series about 3 best friends, sisterhood in every since of the word, love and happily ever after. You will not regret purchasing each story in the Wintersage Wedding Series.
Falling into Forever is book 2 in the series and it is about Sandra. I love the reunited theme. I love the familiarity this story line brings to the love story. Even though the hero/heroine may be nervous about reconnecting, the underlying love they still share is always fun to read and watch blossom again even if they fight it tooth and nail along the way.
Cute story. I wouldn't recommend it because it's so predictable but I appreciate some of the more cheesy parts. Right when i wished the story would finally end it did, in maybe 10 pages. Even some of the characters did a double take at how fast it ended. I appreciate the characters and the fact that this was one of those feel good romantic comedies but it could have used some actual conflict instead of issues without substance or real resolve.
I absolutely cherish a love story with an awesome ending. True love is so hard to find so when Isaiah and Sandra departed over ten years ago, neither one expected that what they had previously was true love until they came face to face again. I really enjoyed this second installment of the "Wintersage Weddings" and I can't wait to see what will happen between Jordan and Vicki.
This was a great book to read! I smuggled up in my bed with some Hot Chocolate and enjoyed it from the beginning to the end! It was awesome and I would recommend this book!
Book 2 of Wintersage Weddings ... AWESOME! I could not put this book down. Sandra and Isiah's story pulled me in from the beginning. The love and passion was oh so hot and felt from the pages. Can't wait for book 3!
As we enter into the second installment of Winter Sage Weddings, we learn first love never dies. Sandra had her own dreams, but with no support from her family, she was always second guessing herself. Not to mention putting her foot in her mouth trying to please her parents.
I really love the idea of being able to start afresh. Love in the 2nd degree has meaning and depth. I love the way he encourage her to step out of her comfort zone and give cooking a new try. This gave them time to relearn each other.
out of all the Silk Sisters book the story of Sandra Wolcott and Isaish Jacobs is my favorite. Childhood sweethearts who have been apart for ten years.
Another great story in this trilogy. Phyllis Bourne never fails to deliver a great romantic read. I can't wait to read the next book by Farrah Rochon. Vikki and Jordan's book is sure to please.
enjoy this very much how you can still love someone for all those years and still have a very strong chemistry. The author keep me wanting to know what was going to happen next.
