It is said that the past haunts. But sometimes it steals hearts instead. After five years, Aoife Flanagan is still haunted by the ghost of her father, the Blood Pirate. And when the opportunity to escape the memory of her father arises, she takes it in the hopes of finally being free of him. But she soon realizes that a shadow with amber eyes has followed her across the Nauvian Sea, waiting for the perfect chance to strike.
But this shadow has a name, and his name is Shea Gallagher–her father's lookout that Aoife had thought died with the rest of the Blood Pirate's crew. But he is very much alive and has been watching Aoife for the past three years, waiting for the moment to complete his Bring the Blood Pirate's daughter back to the seas.
In this conclusion to The Nauvian Chronicles, Aoife Flanagan gets her moment to shine as the leading heroine of her own story. Following in her older sister's footsteps, Aoife must discover who she is meant to be and where her place in the world is, while trying to not lose her heart to the charming pirate of her past in the process.
⭐️ 4.5 The way I’ve been dying to read this book ever since I heard A. Quinn was writing it!! Ahhhh! 😱 I’m so grateful to have gotten this as an arc, and it just felt like the perfect end to the Nauvian Chronicles 🥰
Plot: If you’re looking for a cozy romantasy, this is your series! It’s so cozy, and the way the world is described just makes me want to slip right into it! 🥰🥰 The plot for this one was a little basic, and maybe a little rusheh, but I didn’t mind at all because there were definitely some unexpected twists. It was super easy to root for Aofie, and the pirate elements will always be some of my favorites aspects of these books! I will say that I wish we’d gotten a little more slow burn because it felt like the characters fell in love super fast.
Characters: I always love the fmcs in this series, and Aofie has to be my second favorite, second to her sister. Shea!! Omg, I loved him!! 😭 He’s such a big teddy bear, and if you read this, imagine him as a huge, burly guy that just towers above everyone, it makes it ten times better! Trust me 😂😂 Oliver, we love him, he’s a little cinnamon roll bestie. 🥰 And of course we hated the villains, and there were some good ones in Tethered!
Romance: Even though there is an outward plot to this book, the romance takes the main stage. I loved seeing Aofie’s character progress through this book through her relationship with Shea. And I loved seeing the change in him as well. This couple was made to be together and I had to hold my breath a few times just hoping they’d be okay! Like I said before, they did get together fairly quickly, at least indirectly, and while I’m a slow burn girly, I see how it played into the bigger picture. And the romance is clean and no spice so even better! 🥳
Age rating (spice, cussing, gore): no spice, hardly any cursing, and very slight gore, this book as well as the rest in this series is a safe 12+!
I cannot wait to order my physical copy, and again, huge thanks to the author for giving me the chance to read this early! I need to reread this series sometime in 2025!
I love this book so much it has my heart and soul!!!! I read this one first out of the trilogy, but I wasn't left too confused which was really nice.
A. Quinn is really good at descriptive writing, and the pacing felt perfect!! I loved that there's not only 1, but 2 AMAZING guys for Aoife, and how A. Quinn showed how they both truly love her, both always being there to support her and talk to her about whatever she needs, and how she returns it to them(sometimes less then she wishes she could). I especially loved how once the one(trying to avoid spoilers here sorry if it's annoying!!!!) found out about the other, he STILL supported her. He didn't get into a rage or get mad, and he knew that they were still friends, and continued to help her with what he could.
On top of the relationships and romance, the pirate and royal stuff that happened were AMAZING too.
Overall, I just loved this book and how A. Quinn wove together the different parts and plot to make a beautifully captivating tale!!!
For those looking: the romance was swoony and perfect, banter and conversations and support!! Physical romance went no further than quick, heart stoppingly perfect hugs and kisses.
Another general series detail I loved is how the Nauvian Sea pulled them all together, but each book focused on a different corner of the sea, and a different country, and it was awesome to see how A. Quinn made different traditions for each. And the fact that they were all stand alone, while being in a series, with the little details that got pulled between the books was amazing to see!
5 stars!! (ARC Review) This book was absolutely amazing, A. Quinn never misses! After reading I Pledge My Loyalty I knew I would love Tethered. All the aspects in this book were absolutely perfect and the piracy parts of this book were to die for. I loved the cozy world building, it made me feel like I was right there! And the romance was so *chefs kiss* it was a nice clean romance that didn't go past hugs and kisses. And Shea?! Perfect. The story went at a good pace and the romance was a bit fast paced, no complaints, it was all so good. A. Quinn did so well with the writing, zero complaints from me, I love Quinn's writing style so much. The romance, piracy, royalty, and every aspect of this book came together really well which I loved! Thank you so much A. Quinn for giving me the opportunity to read this early! Definitely recommend Tethered and The Nauvian Chronicles to anyone looking for a good cozy book, with swoon-worthy romance, and amazing piracy aspects!
