everything has changed by addie hildebrandt is a heartwarming childhood friends-to-lovers story that totally captured my heart💘 eloise and jake are the definition of relationship goals, and their dynamic is just everything! i loved how their childhood friendship evolved into something so much deeper and sweeter. eloise, with her selfless nature and her love for romance novels, is a relatable and lovable character, and jake’s quiet devotion to her is swoon-worthy (especially when he keeps extra supplies for her diabetes just in case 🥹). the fake dating trope was executed perfectly and added such a fun and emotional layer to their journey. the setting of silver falls was so cozy and the small-town charm added to the attractiveness of this book. if you're a fan of romance with great rep, heartwarming friendships, and unforgettable characters, this one is a must-read!
a few of my fav things: ♥︎ eloise wearing jake's jersey number at his football games and being there for every single game with her girls 💕 ♥︎ jake and eloise’s pancake dinner tradition after his games — i’m just here for the cozy vibes 🥞 ♥︎ eloise's puppy darcy! what a cutie 🐾 ♥︎ the fact that jake reads sci-fi and mystery books – a bookish guy who's also a football player? yes, please! 📚 ♥︎ the sweet, subtle moments of their relationship slowly blossoming into something more – my heart was full ❤️
Everything Has Changed was a really good book! I loved majority of the characters, and the writing was good. I only had two issues with this book: the nicknames and how somethings just went too fast in the book. Eloise would call Jake “Jakey” and that would annoy me so much. I would always read it in like a whiny voice. I also felt like things moved too fast because some important moments/scenes in the story were like one or two paragraphs. Otherwise, I loved the setting, plot, and the fake-dating!
DNF at 70% I hate writing negative reviews but this book was just. Bad. I kept it at two stars because Jake was cute, but other than that the side characters were very briefly introduced if at all, most of the plot points were just pointless, and I really really hated the way she called him "jakey". It just sounded really pick me and whiny. It felt really like a young adult book until they got super horny at 69%. How ironic. There were also lots of grammar mistakes and even an instance where there was information missing, like the author put in brackets to add it but forgot to. And I get wanting to see yourself represented in books but the main character was just an overly cliche girly girl who would be the poster child of booktok, for example buying lots of books to not read them, annotating books and tabbing the smut and even the main characters promising to recreate the scenes, always wearing a ribbon in her hair, and working in the library. Which is a shame because I really wanted to enjoy this book and hype up this small author
