As bookstore owner Addie Greyborne shares the loving lesson of The Gift of the Magi, the spirit of the season falls prey to a thief and a killer . . .
There’s no place like the seaside Massachusetts town of Greyborne Harbor for the holidays, and there’s no better feeling for Addie than donating to the lighthouse museum’s Twelve Days of Christmas charity fundraiser. Of the dozen books she’ll be offering as prizes from her Beyond the Page Books and Curios shop, the most special volume is a first edition of The Gift of the Magi imported from England—signed by O. Henry! Addie receives an unexpected Christmas bonus when the book is hand delivered by visiting Detective Inspector Noah Parker, whom she met in England, and has been daydreaming about ever since.
But on the night Addie delivers the book to the museum, someone posing as one of Santa’s Little Helpers swipes it—and the rest of the charity gifts. As if the theft wasn’t bad enough, a body is found on the rocks outside the lighthouse, believed to be murdered. Now, it’s up to Addie to connect the clues, find stolen goods, and catch a killer—in order to usher in a Happy New Year . . .
Lauren grew up devouring the entire Nancy Drew series and then graduated to Victoria Holt, Agatha Christie, Barbara Erskine, Lynn Kurland, and Michael Crichton to name a few of her favorite authors. When it came time for post-secondary education, journalism seemed like the logical choice as she had written for as long as she could remember. Soon after graduation, while working for a small publication, she discovered that reporting wasn’t what fueled her writing passions. As someone with an additionally strong background in professional theater who had the love of storytelling and captivating and holding an audience, her fiction-writing career began to take center stage.
Lauren Elliott’s new Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series promises to keep readers guessing right up until the last chapter. Plot twists and an array of colorful characters make for page turning, whodunit adventures filled with suspense, mystery, murder and just a touch of romance.
Addie Greyborne returns to her bookstore, Beyond the Page, in Greyborne Massachusetts after a year spent in the UK. When a murder occurs Addie's housemate is the number one suspect so Addie works to discover the real culprit. Meanwhile she gets a visit from D.I. Noah Parker who she was becoming very close to in the U.K.
A good story and some very promising characters but Addie spent far too much time agonising about everything. She made me feel tired and I must admit to a little skimming. I do hope she does get into a real relationship with Noah and becomes a little more positive about her life!
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Book 11 of Beyond the Page Bookstore Mysteries will be available before we know it. It picks up from where Addie’s year in England ends. Now she’s back home but she’s not the same Addie. Most of her friends have married or are in the process of getting married. Not Addie! But there was that good looking Detective Inspector Parker who she helped to solve a murder mystery last year in England. But now she’s back at her book store, Beyond the Page Books and Curios. She chose to return to the US far away from her friends in England. She will never see Detective Inspector Parker again…or will she? After a few chapters into the book the Christmas murder happens outside of the lighthouse museum. A mysterious Elf in curly toed shoes shows up and just as quickly disappears with all the donated items for the Christmas raffle drawing. Not long afterward a body is found on the museum’s property. Circumstances causes Addie’s house mate to be the main suspect. Why not the curly toed elf? Addie sets up her make do clue board and gets busy trying to solve this Christmas murder. I liked this book but it didn’t hold my interest as much as other books in this series has. It was hilarious when Addie confronts the real murderer . The ending was very good. I recommend Epilogue to a Christmas Murder to readers of cozy mystery and to readers who have been following this series. This book would be best read after reading the first few books in this series because characters are carried over from the previous books. This book is scheduled for release on 9/30/25. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are entirely my own. #EpilougetoaChristmasMurder #NetGalley .
I received a free copy of, Epilogue to a Christmas Murder, by Lauren Elliott, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book eleven in the, Beyond the Page Bookstore mystery series. New England at Christmas time is so beautiful, though fall is pretty beautiful too. This book takes place in Greyborne Harbor. Massachusetts. The town is having a twelve days of Christmas fundraiser, and everyone is excited, until their is a murder, and stolen gifts for the fundraiser, what is Addie going to do? Addie, Pippi, and Noah, are great characters, I really enjoyed them.
Addie Greyborne, owner of Beyond the Page Books and Curios bookstore, is back in Greyborne Harbour after time in England and getting ready for the holiday season including donating books to the local museum charity. She has ordered a signed first edition of The Gift of the Magi from England for the event and is shocked when it is hand delivered by Noah Parker, the Detective Inspector she had butted heads with in England. Then the donations to the charity are stolen by someone in an elf costume and, shortly after, a body is found at the cliffs beside the museum. When Paige, Addie’s best friend becomes the main suspect, Addie and Noah team up to solve both crimes.
Epilogue to a Christmas Murder is the eleventh in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mysteries by Lauren Elliott. Although this is the first I have read of the series, I found it worked well as a standalone as it is one very entertaining Christmas cozy that kept my interest throughout. Addie makes for a very likeable and strong protagonist and the mystery kept me guessing. Overall, a fun read with plenty of suspense and Christmas spirit to help ring in the holidays.
Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Publishing for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review
#EpiloguetoaChristmasMurder #NetGalley is another fantastic addition to this series by Lauren Elliott. Addie has returned to Greyborne Harbor, just in time for the holidays. There is nothing better than being home, catching up with friends, and preparing for the holidays. For Addie, there's just one problem, she doesn't seem to fit in any longer. Everyone is involved in their own lives, and this leaves Addie feeling a bit sad. An unexpected visitor arrives, bringing with him the book Addie is donating to the charity fundraiser, a signed first edition of The Gift of the Magi. Unfortunately things don't go according to plan and Addie finds herself wrapped up in a murder investigation, as well as trying to find out who stole the charity donations, including her contribution.
I love the characters and each story, this is a really great series that I always look forward to reading. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of #EpiloguetoaChristmasMurder #NetGalley
I already knew this book was going to be a roller-coaster of emotions before I started it. For those unaware, the author very recently passed away somewhat unexpectedly, which unfortunately means this is the last book in the series. Beyond that, our author often has our MC, Addie, in unsettling situations. After more than a year in England, Addie is home and feeling very unsettled and disconnected from her world as all her friends are moving on with large changes in their lives while she feels adrift. With the Christmas holiday around the corner and Paige's wedding on Christmas Day, Addie is trying to find her spirit. With a big donation of books to the Lighthouse Museum fundraiser, including a special copy of The Gift of the Magi, maybe this will help, especially as the book is delivered from her friend and bookshop owner Reginald Pressman and by Addie's biggest regret Detective Inspector Parker. What is Noah doing in Greyborne Harbor? When a snowstorm strands Noah in Greyborne Harbor, all the raffle and auction items are stolen, and a body is found by the Lighthouse after the storm, can answers be found? While a good portion of this book felt heavy and Addie was really struggling on many levels, I was so happy that Addie found some hope and happiness in the end. While the mystery may not have been the best in the series, the hope +and magic of Christmas definitely found Addie in end and left our heroine in a happy place. I am grateful for that as I have always felt invested in this series. A large thank you to #Netgally, #KensingtonCozies, and the author for a chance to read. #EpiloguetoChristmasMurder #BeyondthePageBookstoreMysteries #LaurenElliot #bookreview #bookideas #retiredreader
The mystery was OK. It was very repetitive and childish I thought. Another book with two women who continue to do & act as doormats. The ending was odd.
For Christmas, Addie is donating a dozen books to the lighthouse museum’s Twelve Days of Christmas charity fundraiser. One of them is a first edition of The Gift of the Magi imported from England. Addie receives an unexpected bonus when the book is delivered by Detective Inspector Noah Parker, whom she met in England, and has been daydreaming about ever since. But on the night Addie delivers the book to the museum, someone posing as one of Santa’s Elves steals all of the charity gifts. Then, a body is found on the rocks outside the lighthouse. Now, it’s up to Addie to connect the clues, find stolen goods, and catch a killer. This was a great cozy mystery and an interesting ending to a great series. There was a melancholy feeling that I got from reading this story because it seemed that the main character felt sad and depressed that life was changing. Since Lauren Elliott passed away, this is her last story. I will miss her writing, and the wonderful characters she created. I will recommend her stories to anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries. Thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for this advanced reader's copy. This review is my honest opinion.
I gave this 4 stars because I really loved the mystery! And I am heartbroken that the author passed away and there will be no more in this series to look forward to. Having said that, I could not stomach Addi anymore. She is SO ANNOYING and self-absorbed. She gets offended so easily. God forbid a man who loves her says he is worried about her getting injured or worse, chasing her theories of who the perp. is. Right away her feminist ugly side roars its head. Instead of being thankful that someone loves her enough to give a crap about her. She acts indignant *eye roll. She immediately gets all up in Noah's face, or ignores him, when he tells her it isn't looking good for Nikki and he might have to take her in(WHICH IS HIS JOB). That is such immature behavior and is getting old. Sometimes she just acts like a petulant child when she doesn't get her own way. And....something that still makes me mad....she treated poor Marc like crap! And now....albeit we will never know......she will probably ruin poor Noah's life. I LOVE his character!! And I am sad that we will not have the pleasure of hearing more about him.
I received this book as an ARC with no expectations of a positive review. This is a wonderful book with two mysteries as well as an unexpected guest to Addie. It is so well written. I love the combination of cozy mysteries as well as a life change for Addie. Fans of this series will love this book. It certainly will keep you guessing.
I sampled this book through Libby and will not be continuing further because it just stressed me out. Particularly 1) The eight-year-old who is written to be both much younger and much older than she is. 2) Paige yelling at her daughter that she's not supposed to "read above her grade level". It sounds horrifying, punitive, and unrealistic. Encourage your child's love of reading. If the book contained mature themes, I would understand Paige gently redirecting her and picking out another book. "The Gift of the Magi" is a perfect short story for that age, and it would have been thematic. 3) The suspension of disbelief required when you're supposed to believe that Paige's mom went behind her back and not only canceled all her wedding vendors, but got the deposit refunds and made new bookings three weeks before the wedding.
1) You're not getting a deposit back that close to the wedding. 2) What kind of vendor would take a cancelation from neither the bride nor the groom, nor the WEDDING PLANNER, but some yokel who isn't even paying for it? And GIVE said yokel the DEPOSITS THEY DID NOT PUT DOWN!? And did not confirm any of this with the wedding planner before initiating cancelation?! 3) You definitely can't book a venue and new vendors three weeks before a wedding unless you're paying WAY more than the allegedly small amount the mother is bragging that she spent.
Another thing that stressed me out was Paige and Addie bending over backwards to sugarcoat Paige's mother's seriously unacceptable and boundary-crossing behavior, to say the least. It's healthy to not involve children in adult conflicts, but it's important to keep your child safe. If Paige's mom doesn't respect Paige's decisions and boundaries, she won't respect Paige's daughter's boundaries and decisions. It's important to model healthy conflict and boundary-setting. They should have said something like, "Grandma is in timeout right now because she did a very mean and bad thing that caused a lot of damage. When people do bad and mean things to us and overstep our boundaries, they need to apologize and make it right. Until then, it is important to take some time away from them so we can heal and protect ourselves."
Edit: I read that Paige eventually rolls over and lets Martha steamroll the wedding instead of doing a civil ceremony ("wouldn't the wedding of your dreams be better than an impersonal civil ceremony", as though a grown woman would want the same wedding as she did when she was six years old), and she is happy to let her mother take the reins. I can't help but think that this is fanfic on the part of the author--did she try and fail to steamroll her child's wedding because they actually had boundaries? It's quite infuriating.
I saw that Lauren Elliott has unfortunately passed away, and so this will be the final installment in the Beyond the Page series. My condolences to the family on her loss. It is said that when someone dies, it is like the burning of the library of Alexandria. I imagine far more so for such a prolific author and her beloved series.

"Epilogue to a Christmas Murder (Beyond the Page Mystery #11)" by Lauren Elliott got a bit frustrating at points. Mostly because Addie was constantly lamenting that her friends has continued their lives while she was away in England for a year post breaking up with her ex. Then constantly fretting over her feelings for the English detective she met while in England. Especially when he shows up unexpectedly at her American bookstore just weeks before Christmas. I get it, she's been very unlucky in love but even the way they end this book it seems very selfish for her end of things despite him making the offer.
Mystery wise, donated Christmas get stolen and a man is found at the bottom of cliffs near the place the gifts were stolen from. Are the two crimes linked? Well, one for sure gets solved and the second at least has a relatively good ending. Over all, the mystery was the only part that redeemed this story for me. I just don't enjoy angst in adults and outgrew teen angst a while ago.
This book is far more interesting than the cover lets on. Epilogue to a Christmas Murder is book 11 in the Beyond the Page Bookstore mystery series. Having never read the previous books, this book served well as a standalone book, and after reading this romantic cozy mystery, I am hooked.
Addie is reeled into a murder investigation after the lighthouse museum’s gala items are stolen and when a body is discovered. After her stint abroad in England, she is grappling with finding her place in her hometown while missing a detective inspector that she left in England. When he suddenly shows up on her doorstep a few weeks before Christmas, she must juggle this murder mystery, a budding new romance, and the wedding of her best friend Paige.
This book had all the elements of a good small town, seasonal, cozy mystery: a winter storm, a light romance, a furry friend, and a mysterious death. This book is the perfect read for the holiday season. I look forward to the next book in the series but now have some homework to do to read all the previous books in the series.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. This review is voluntary. All thoughts are my own.
Lauren Elliott does such a wonderful job of leaving each book at a place that makes you wonder what will happen next for Addie Grayborne, owner of a book and curio shop. I couldn't wait to find out. After spending a year in England, Addie is back home in Grayborne Harbor struggling to figure out who she is and how she fits after everything she's been through. When Detective Inspector Noah Parker comes all the way from England to deliver a first edition book she'd ordered, The Gift of the Magi, Addie is over the moon (she's been daydreaming about him every since she left). She donates the book to the town's museum, where it's stolen by a man posing as an elf, along with all of the other charity gifts. Shortly after, a man is found murdered and Addie thinks the crimes may be related. The dead man turns out to be her friend Nikki's ex-husband and the plot quickly thickens. When Nikki is arrested for the murder, Addie works alongside Noah and her ex to find the truth. I love this series and how this book ended. Thank you to #NetGalley #Kensington and #LaurenElliott for the opportunity to read and review this book.
Ms. Elliott has done it again! Epilogue to a Christmas Murder is another great, suspenseful, and thoroughly enjoyable Addie tale. When relationships grow and change, it is hard to find where you fit in. When Addie gets a surprise visit from an English friend, she goes on a journey of self discovery while simultaneously solving a murder to save one friend and being maid of honor for another. Addie truly grows and shines in this book. I won't spoil it, but the end made me dance with joy!
This book has something for everyone: a wedding, some romance, a robbery, a few secrets, a little family drama, and of course a murder.
Epilogue to a Christmas Murder kept me turning pages until the last. I highly recommend it to fans of the series!
Epilogue to a Christmas Murder is the final book in Lauren Elliott's fabulous Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series due to the author's unexpected death. This has been a favorite series of mine since the very first book and I will miss the joy and discussions each new book brought. This book is quintessential Lauren and I loved the fun ending and the possibilities it provides. This book would be best enjoyed after reading the whole series and at least books 9 and 10. Addie Greyborne is back in Greyborne Harbor, MA running her bookstore, Beyond The Page. It is December and her friend Paige is getting married on Christmas. Her friends Paige, Serena, Marc, and Catherine are still supportive but have moved on with their lives while she was living in England. Addie is trying to move on too and reflects a lot on all of her life experiences. Addie realizes she misses Detective Inspector Noah Parker and she is very surprised when he visits to give her a book from another friend for the town auction. When a visitor in town ends.up dead, Noah is asked to help. On top of that, the auction donations are stolen by an elf. Addie's roomate and friend Nikki is the main suspect. Addie, Noah and Marc work together to solve the murder which I loved. Addie and Noah are trying to figure out their relationship which adds to the story. There are some surprises and secrets uncovered and the book was hard to put down! I loved every minute of it especially the ending! Thank you Lauren Elliott for so many fabulous books that made.me invested in the characters, want to scream at times, and more than anything made me smile. You will be greatly missed! #EpilogueToAChristmasMurder #BeyondThePageBookstoreMystery #NetGalley #KensingtonCozies #LaurenElliottMysteryReaders

This one was just ok. I loved Noah coming into this series again but Addie was mostly a downer. Noah and Addie didn’t really seem to have that many interactions and then BAM….in love. Paige going from weepy to totally ok with her mother taking over the wedding…..why? How? The whole theft storyline wasn’t resolved well to me.

The cast of characters that was so solid in the prior books were missing or inconsistent in most of this one which was sad! I missed the friendships and teaming up to sleuth. Addie was back Grey Harbor but kind of going thru a life crisis -can’t blame her there when her entire world was upended 2 books ago. This was not my favorite in the series and while it had potential to spin off, I think the ending to this series was well done. I saw the author has passed away, which is so sad, but I’m curious if someone else wrote part of this one for her -the cadence was just slightly different IMO.

In Epilogue to a Christmas Murder, Addie Greyborne is back—and this time, the mystery hits close to home, just as she’s sharing the heartwarming message of The Gift of the Magi. When a signed first edition of the classic story goes missing during a charity event, and a body turns up by the lighthouse, Addie finds herself in the middle of a case that’s anything but merry and bright.
📚 Cozy bookshop vibes 🎄 Small-town Christmas charm 💔 A poignant literary tie-in 💞 A touch of romantic tension with a British detective 🕵️♀️ Twists that kept me guessing
The mystery unfolds at a perfect pace with just enough seasonal flair, emotional depth, and literary magic to make it feel fresh. The nods to The Gift of the Magi gave the story heart, while the coastal setting added the perfect misty, wintery mood.
Half a star off only because I wanted a bit more time with Addie and DI Parker—but this was festive, clever, and full of heart. A December must-read for cozy mystery lovers.
Addie returns to Greybourne Harbor after a year away. While she was gone, life has gone on for her friends and she finds herself feeling all alone. When Noah appears with a book for an auction Addie is pleasantly surprised. Her feelings for him have warmed since she returned and now he has come from England to visit NYC and her. When the book is stolen and then a man found dead, Addie finds herself embroiled in the search for the killer and Noah is also pulled into helping the police. A great addition to this ongoing series and it will satisfy all of us who hoped Addie would find her soul mate. Loved the book and hope there will be more to come! #laurenelliott, #kensingtonbooks
Leaving your hometown for a prolonged period, for whatever reason, means changes will happen that you have no idea about. People also move on, their lives change, and things can't go back to how they once were. Addie Greyborne knows this but is surprised by just how out of sync she feels. Christmas is getting closer, however, and the celebrations will be all the more special because her close friend Paige is getting married on the most festive of occasions.
Daydreaming about England and the friends she made there, especially the local police detective, won't change anything but receiving a very special book from England for a local fundraiser seems a fitting end to her English adventure. At least she thought it was the end until the English detective, taking a detour from his trip to New York, delivers the book personally before a winter storm leaves Greyborne . cut off. When a body is discovered the following day and local police chief Marc Chandler has to recuse himself from the investigation, Addie is shocked to find out her English friend is taking over the case, at least temporarily! Unfortunately, all the clues point to Addie's friend and housemate as the main suspect, but she's not going to let her be convicted without a fight,
I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Kensington Publishing, Kensington Cozies, but the opinions expressed are my own. The 11th book in Lauren Elliott's Beyond the Page mystery series ties up a lot of loose ends but there were also some which remained as well as a few enticing hints of Addie's future so hopefully I can continue to enjoy this particular reading pleasure a while longer. I highly recommend it.

Addie is back from England and is a mainstay support to her friend Paige who is beyond stressed by her awful mother. Then the very interesting DI from England shows up, there is a major snowstorm, and a very valuable book is stolen. There's lots more to love in this excellent story but I'm afraid of doing the spoiler thing. Addie is shocked when DI Noah Parker arrives bringing with him a special Twelve Days of Christmas book for the lighthouse fundraiser. Upon dropping off the donations at the lighthouse, Addie is duped by a Santa elf in disguise & then, of course, there is a murder. Paige's mom is being obnoxious with the upcoming wedding plans, Noah is taking over Addie's thoughts, and of course there is a "who did it" to be solved--especially when friends are being accused of committing the crime! The story moves along quickly without the murderer being revealed too soon. Thanks to Ms Elliott for continuing this series! Thanks also to NetGalley & Kensington Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As this is the final cozy mystery in the series, I wanted to savor it, which is difficult in this fast-paced mystery! It is almost Christmas, with the added joy of a friend’s Christmas Day wedding.
A Twelve Days of Christmas fundraiser for the lighthouse museum is scheduled. Stores throughout Greyborne Harbor donated many goods and services for each day’s winning ticket. Addie committed to donating twelve special books. She awaits the arrival of the rare, collectible book from the bookstore she worked at in England during her extended visit.
Addie has been back in town for several months. She went to visit an old school friend who lives in England, who knew of the two recent, significant events that changed the course of her life. Addie loved England and made several new friends. She liked the job she had there, and even helped solve a murder, to the chagrin of the lead detective on the case.
Addie was stunned when Noah, the British detective, entered her bookshop with a parcel for her! He delivered the rare, classic, first edition by O. Henry just in time for the fundraiser. Noah was going to New York City for Christmas, something his late wife had wanted to do. Her murder had destroyed his promise to take her there one day. A snowstorm blew in, however, and the highway to NYC was closed. He got a room at the B&B until the people who reserved it arrived, stuck on the other side of the storm.
Addie drove through the near-whiteout to deliver the books to the lighthouse museum. Deanna, the museum curator, insisted she bring them that day. In the museum lobby, Addie met a short man in an elf suit, working on the gifts. He said Deanna had left early. Addie offered to help him finish the packages. He sent her to a storage room for something. She ran into Trevor, Deanna’s assistant, and they went into the lobby to discover every last one of the gifts, including her books, gone, along with the elf. Deanna, however, was there, and had been in a meeting. Robbed by an elf thief!
The following morning, an unidentified man was found dead, on the rocks at the base of the cliff below the museum. Until the medical examiner saw the body, it was thought he died of natural causes. Later, they learned that he was murdered, and he was Chad Sanders, the extremely abusive ex-husband of Nikki, her assistant and housemate. Nikki is also a cousin of Addie’s best friend, Serena. Nikki became the primary suspect due to the number of calls between their phones, even though Nikki refused to see him.
Nikki is also the cousin of Addie’s ex-boyfriend and police chief, Marc. Because of their familial relationship, Marc was taken off the case. In an unusual twist, at Marc’s suggestion, Noah, as a Detective Inspector, was hired as a consultant to the police department to lead the murder investigation. Addie will do whatever it takes to find the real killer, as will Marc, on “official leave”. Addie, Marc, and Noah worked together on the cases, and Noah withheld confidential information. The mayor was eager for an arrest, even if they had only circumstantial evidence on Nikki. He wanted to be re-elected in the upcoming elections.
The characters are charming and engaging. Every new series release was like visiting old friends. The regulars have grown and changed through the series, and are more than adequately defined.
When Addie returned from England, she found that her closest friends had moved on with their lives, and she couldn’t quite fit in. Her bookstore manager ran it so well in her absence that she feels unnecessary. While much of her focus in this novel is on the crimes, it has also been a retrospective of sorts. Her grief brought me to tears more than once; she is the character I have felt closest to in the series.
There were twists and turns throughout, but one of the worst twists was when the murder weapon was found with Nikki’s prints on it. This mystery, one of Lauren Elliott’s best, was finely plotted and executed. I highly recommend this mystery to those who appreciate well-written cozy mysteries with a dash of possible romance and a delightful New England Christmas setting.
After being left at the proverbial altar, Addie Greyborne retreated to England for a year to recoup and decide what to do with her life. She left her bookstore, Beyond the Page Books and Curios, in the capable hands of her manager, Paige. But the year has ended, and Addie has returned home, eager to welcome the upcoming Christmas holiday and Paige's Christmas Day wedding.
Then she receives an unexpected and surprising visit from Detective Inspector Noah Parker, whom she butted heads with during her time in England. She's not going to let him know how this has shaken her, since seeing him again has taken her breath away. But he delivers a special book for her from the owner of the bookshop she worked for there -- a signed edition of The Gift of the Magi -- and she's going to donate it to the local museum for charity.
When she shows up at the museum, she meets one of Santa's Elves who seems to be putting the donations into boxes, and tells her to just add her donations to everything else. Barely questioning it, she does so, then discovers later that everything has been stolen, and the elf is nowhere to be found.
To make matters worse, a dead body is found the next day on the cliff by the lighthouse. Who is the man? Is he connected to the burglary? But when it turns out to be someone who's connected to a friend, and local police chief Marc Chandler is removed from the case, she has no help. At least until Noah Parker is temporarily assigned to the murder case. But the DA and the mayor want it solved quickly. With only one suspect in line for it, Addie has to work fast, and behind the scenes. Will she be able to find a killer before her friend is jailed? Or will everything go terribly wrong and she won't be able to help at all...
This is the eleventh book in the series, and I must say that it is my favorite to date. I am glad that I decided to continue reading this series after one book disappointed me (not going to say any more about that!). While I am glad to see Addie back home in Grayborne Harbor, I miss her friends she left behind in England. But she didn't leave all of them -- Detective Inspector Noah Parker is on holiday, and he's helping with the murder case. Her feelings for Noah are confusing, and she wants to see him and not see him, if that makes any sense.
With Marc off the case, everything needs to be hush-hush or both Noah and Marc will permanently lose their jobs, leaving Addie to do as much as she can by herself. She's also trying to manage her store and keep Paige from going crazy with a mother who's turned into a Motherzilla. Paige also needs her help if her wedding is to go off nicely; Addie's in a pickle and knows it.
Looking for clues, she's pretty much on her own and what she can glean from both Marc and Noah, which isn't much. She's positive the suspect is innocent, and trusts her gut instinct, which is more than not right. However, knowing it and proving it are two different things.
The book kept me interested throughout, and I loved the fact it takes place during the Christmas season. (That's just because I love the holiday, myself). Anyway, watching Addie take what she has and put it all together at the end is the best part of the book. This woman is intelligent, unflappable, and able to take care of herself in a pinch. She can also think on her feet. and that's the best kind of amateur sleuth. It makes Ms. Elliott's books are wonderful; with a taut storyline and a climax that's worth waiting for.
I will not say any more about the book in order not to spoil it for anyone (I don't think I've given any spoilers so far!) I will say I loved the intrigue, Addie's actions and her thinking, and the way the book ended. I look forward to the next in the series. Highly recommended.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley but this in no way influenced my review.
Epilogue to a Christmas Murder is a charming and festive addition to the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mysteries series by Lauren Elliott. Addie Greyborne’s generous gift of a first edition of The Gift of the Magi to a charity fundraiser for the lighthouse museum is stolen, along with the other donations, but the discovery of a body on the rocks outside the lighthouse overshadows the theft.
Addie has returned home to Massachusetts from England, but is finding it difficult to fit in after everyone around her is moving on with their lives. She tries to return to business as usual at her bookstore, Beyond the Page Books and Curios, where she helps her friend Paige rein in her controlling mother, and generously donates The Gift of the Magi to the Lighthouse Museum’s Twelve Days of Christmas charity. The donation of the signed O. Henry book is hand-delivered, to her surprise, by the handsome Inspector Noah Parker, whom she met while in England.
A snowstorm causes a delay in departure for Noah and a delay in the delivery of her donation. Addie arrives at the museum, finding a strange man dressed as an elf sorting through the donations. Thinking he is a volunteer, she leaves the book with him and goes in search of the museum director, Deanna, to let her know it was delivered, mentioning seeing the elf. At Deanna’s alarm regarding the mysterious elf, they hurriedly return to the museum to find that everything is gone without a trace.
The next day, Addie’s friend arrives at the bookstore, excited to give her the latest gossip. Addie assumes it is about the theft, but is surprised to learn that a body was found on the rocks outside the lighthouse. When the murder victim is named, Noah is brought into the investigation in an official capacity. And when a close friend becomes the prime suspect in the murder, Addie is drawn into the investigation herself, determined to uncover the truth.
This mystery kept me at a loss until the end, which I enjoyed. Nothing is worse than figuring out the killer early on and waiting for the main character to catch up. The secondary romance storyline with Noah adds a spark of romantic tension, but thankfully never overshadows the core mystery. Even as the eleventh book in the series, I didn’t feel lost; the characters are well-established, but new readers can easily jump in and enjoy.
With a snowy setting, literary nods, and just a hint of romance, Epilogue to a Christmas Murder is a delightful winter read perfect for cozying up with a warm drink and a blanket. Fans of classic cozy mysteries will find plenty to enjoy here.
Thank you to the publisher, Kensington Cozies, the author, Lauren Elliot, and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you so much to Kensington for the gifted copy of this final chapter in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series. What a bittersweet, cozy sendoff.
This one hit differently. Knowing that this is Lauren Elliott’s final installment after her recent passing made Epilogue to a Christmas Murder feel extra tender, like a farewell hug from a beloved friend. And just like Addie Greyborne herself, the book arrives wrapped in charm, complicated feelings, and a mystery tucked beneath the holiday ribbons.
Addie returns to Greyborne Harbor after more than a year abroad, only to find herself caught in another wintery tangle of crime and uncertainty. There’s stolen charity gifts, a body by the lighthouse, and a surprise reappearance from Detective Inspector Noah Parker—who might just be the ghost of Christmas feelings past. Addie’s internal conflict this time is heavier than usual. She’s adrift, watching her friends move forward while she struggles to feel at home again.
I loved the way this book centered emotional transition alongside the classic cozy puzzle. It was less about the murder and more about finding your place after a season of change. Addie doesn’t bounce back easily, and I appreciated that honesty. But slowly, with a little mystery-solving, some snowed-in surprises, and a touch of Christmas magic, she finds her way back to herself.
What I Loved: • The lighthouse fundraiser setting felt so perfectly wintry and quaint • Noah’s return brought a soft, slow-burn kind of tension that warmed up the pages • Addie’s grief and emotional growth were written with quiet care • That Gift of the Magi first edition plot point—bookish perfection • A gentle, reflective tone that suited the season and the series ending • The final chapters left Addie in a place of hope, and I’m so glad for that
What Didn’t Work for Me: • Addie’s constant second-guessing made some chapters feel repetitive • The mystery itself wasn’t quite as gripping as earlier books • I wanted more scenes with Noah—his presence was subtle but I craved more connection • Some dialogue felt introspective in a way that slowed the pace • Not every thread from previous books was wrapped up, but maybe that’s okay
“Even the best stories have to end somewhere. But the love we feel for them doesn’t.”
This book felt like saying goodbye to a favorite hometown—full of nostalgia, snowflakes, and the ache of something meaningful coming to a close. Epilogue to a Christmas Murder might not be the strongest mystery in the series, but it’s the most heartfelt. And that’s the note I’ll carry forward.
