Thanks to Netgalley and IDW Fabulous for proving an ebook of this book.

First of all, it must be noted that this new collection "On The Go" collects for now the same content as the "IDW collection", so issues 1-12 of IDW's Sonic, which is an absolute banger.

The difference would also be that "IDW collection" is the premium (bigger, pricier, hardcover) choice and "On The Go" would be the economic version (smaller, cheaper, trade paperback) version. However, reading is as ebook is pretty much the same experience for each version for me !

About the story now : IDW's Sonic character character designs are magnificent, the colors are vivid, the story is full of references to the games, but everything is explained, it's funny, it's fresh.

This first volume also introduces some very successful new characters who fit perfectly into the universe, we're talking about the cream of the crop of Sonic's OC (Dr. Starline, Whisper, and Tangle).

We arrive in a post-war world where the resistance led by Knuckles and Amy is fighting against increasingly organized hordes of robots led by Eggman... or not... We get right to the heart of the matter, and it feels good.

That's it, I'm a fan.

The war has ended and peace for the most part has come to the world. There are still some badniks roaming but Sonic and the gang have things under control. Or they think they do but Tails and Sonic have both noticed that the badniks seem to be way more organized than they have been all of a sudden, like someone was controlling them, but with Dr. Robotnik MIA who could it be?

I requested this just because my kids love Sonic and assumed it would be meh, but I could kinda understand what my kids were talking about at least if I read this. OMG it was ssoo good! Like there's a whole freaking Sonic World out there and it's awesome! The story was genuinely edge-of-your-seat, I need to know what happens next. The characters were all amazing and there are so many more than I knew about. And if anyone is wondering Whisper is my new favorite Sonic character. The art was of course awesome but I feel like that's kind of a given here.

I will definitely be reading Vol. 2 and I am going to steal my son's stash of Sonic Comics in the next few weeks!

As always thanks to NetGalley and IDW Publishing for the eArc!

Fun fact: I received this eArc thanks to NetGalley and IDW Publishing, but I also had already bought the other collection of these comics (I was curious about this new collection).

If you are a fan of the blue hedgehog, you have to read these comics. They are an easy and fast read that leave you wanting more. They tie everything together and develop the characters by giving them new adventures, but remaining faithful to them. A lot of characters (new and old) from different worlds interact together and it will be interesting seeing how the story will continue to develop. There are also some winks at the fans here and there that I loved to read.

If you are not a big fan who knows all the lore or just someone who watched the films and thought you might find the same atmospheres, you might be a little disappointed and confused. I do encourage you to try to keep reading though, the comics do a great job in the first chapters to set the stage by giving a bit of context and introducing all the main characters in each chapter so to give them time to shine (you might still want to catch up on some of the lore).
What I wish was done for the newbies (but also for the experts who might need a quick refresh of the memory) was adding a footnote when events of the game were referenced to what game the reference is (it is done something similar in one of the last chapters to reference to a previous chapter, I wish it was done for games too).

If you already have other editions of these comics, you might not need this—this one collects the first 12 issues from volumes 1-3 (Fallout, The Fate of Dr. Eggman and Battle For Angel Island) of the Sonic the Hedgehog series started in 2018—, but if you want to start to read the comics, this might be a perfect purchase because it collects all the chapters that introduce the characters and set the stage for all the adventure to come (it also collects the different covers and illustrations of the issues).

My son loves Sonic the Hedgehog so much! This is a great omnibus of the first three Sonic books, Fallout, The Fate of Dr Eggman, and Battle For Angel Island. If you haven't read these 3 and have a Sonic fan, I recommend these! The pictures are great, the storylines are exciting, and it's perfect for anyone getting into the Sonic graphic novels!

A Special Thanks To IDW Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC

Starting with IDW’s new collected edition titled Sonic the Hedgehog: On The Go! Vol. One, which collects the first 12 issues from volumes 1-3 (Fallout, The Fate of Dr. Eggman, and Battle For Angel Island).

Sonic is on the move once again, reuniting with old friends along the way! In the aftermath of his latest battle with Doctor Eggman, rogue robots are on the loose, and new foes are on the rise. One of the biggest mysteries with the robots on the loose is, where is Eggman? Sonic and the others meet new friends, new foes in a new chapter in this iconic franchise!

This new collection titled ‘On the Go!’ follows a similar path to its predecessor by collecting the first twelve issues, but serves as more of a budget-friendly collected edition for both new and older Sonic fans. The stories are fast-paced like Sonic, but keep up at a pace for new readers that is accompanied by colorful, beautifully illustrated pages, brimming with creativity and energy.

The first twelve issues consist of various creators such as writer Ian Flynn, and artists such as Tracy Yardley, Evan Stanley, Adam Bryce Thomas, and Jennifer Hernandez. Several of these creators were formally part of the era of Archie Sonic, before the series was canceled. Their approach to the world of Sonic is always one to admire, especially Flynn’s script work in the first twelve issues of this series, even if it was an All-Ages setting. It is full of references from past games, including Sonic Heroes, by bringing back Neo Metal Sonic as a villain, even for a short story arc.

As mentioned previously, “On the Go!” It is filled with pages of beautifully illustrated scenes of Sonic’s Universe, equipped with great humor and uniquely designed new characters such as Doctor Starline, Tangle the Lemur, and Whisper the Wolf. Each artist involved brings their own take on the Blue Hedgehog’s adventures and battles, while staying true to the source material. The collected edition is also packed with an impressive variant cover gallery, Character Refs, and more.

Joining Sonic and his crew we have quite a few adventures that start with the aftermath of a battle with Dr. Eggman, what happened to him ? Where is he? What are the heroes/villains up to? Find out in this collection from IDW that collects 12 issues of the Sonic comic for this storyline. The team up in this novel brings all the characters you know and love in the Sonic universe into one space for you to enjoy.
The artwork is appealing to look at and for being a graphic novel it was a good story that moved along. If you are a fan of the blue hedgehog or others in the universe I would recommend picking this book up.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC and the opportunity to give this millennial a fun read.

I am giving an honest review for an advanced reader copy I was provided.

In this new series of Sonic the Hedgehog "On the Go," Ian Flynn follows up with a fresh interpretation after Sonic Forces, sadly riddled with character contradictions and a lackluster storyline. But Flynn has proved once again his ability to understand Sonic characters and create complexity within them. The storyline is also packed with excitement and has interesting themes.
The art is also phenomenal with bright, fun colors that still retains a nostalgic feel to it.
This series is not my first choice of a starting point, but I still feel anyone new to Sonic lore would be able to understand and enjoy this series.

Thank You NetGalley and IDW Publishing for the ARC!

I loved how Ian Flynn interpreted the characters in the Sonic universe! They felt very true to their original counterparts. The story was simple, but engaging and full of action scenes that were dynamically placed thought. The art is super colorful as well, using bright and vibrant colors when it was needed. Super excited for the next volume!

Sonic in the Go Vol. 1 pulls together a set of quick-hit stories that follow Sonic doing what he does best. He tears through new zones, takes on Eggman’s latest schemes, and has a few lighthearted team-ups with Tails and Knuckles. Some stories lean into high-speed battles while others show off smaller, fun moments that remind you why Sonic’s such a likable character.

The art style is the real highlight. It’s bold, vibrant, and full of motion. Every page feels alive, from the streaks of Sonic’s speed to the expressive faces of the characters. The color work makes the book pop, giving it that energetic Saturday morning feel while still looking polished.

Not everything lands perfectly. A couple of stories feel rushed, like they could have used just a little more space to breathe. There are also spots where the pacing skips ahead too quickly. But the energy and creativity carry it through, and by the end it leaves you wanting more rather than less.

Fans of Sonic will find plenty to enjoy here, and it’s the kind of book you can pick up casually and still get a satisfying burst of speed and colour.

Thanks to NetGalley and IDW for the advance copy.

Sonic has evolved from when I first encountered him, yet I still feel his lighthearted and fun personality through these pages. I haven't read any of the comics before, just played the original game on Sega and watched the movies with my oldest. Regardless, I feel like the Sonic spirit lives on in this comic.

The story is interesting as we follow Sonic's adventures, fighting bots, yet Eggman seems to be missing. Follow Sonic as he unravels the mystery, running into all his classic friends, plus some new ones (to me at least), along the way!

Our family are huge fans of Sonic. Especially my son who is 6. This book was so perfect for him. We enjoyed reading this story together. Bright, bold and colorful illustrations bring this story to life.
In this exciting story Sonic has to deal with rogue robots and figure out where Dr.Eggman has gone. His friends will help him find out what is going on and how to stop it. A long with a surprise competition from Shadow, Sonic’s old rival.
You are in for an exciting adventure with your favorite super fast friend. Gotta Go Fast!! Enjoy with your little ones.

If you're a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, you'll definitely enjoy this volume!
It's a fast-paced adventure where Sonic and friends team up against some botnik foes. Suited for both a younger and older audience.
I would've liked to see footnotes when there are references to past events; if you haven't kept up with the comics it's not very clear and could potentially lead to some confusion.
Overall a fun, lighthearted comic!

I received an early copy on NetGalley, and man was this good! I loved how each chapter was bringing in different characters for sonic to team up with. Choosing Metal Sonic as the main villain was a great idea! He has super menacing in every panel he was in. Overall this was an amazing comic, I can’t think of anything bad that stood out. I recommend every Sonic fan reads this.

Packed with high-flying action, wise-cracks, and an extreme ensemble of characters, Flynn brings an excellent first volume to a nostalgic favorite. Welcoming to newcomers and readers of the previous IDW series alike, these twelve issues are brimming with an exciting plot, decades of lore, and an all-ages mystery. Recommended for fans of Ducktales, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Saturday Morning Cartoons.

Thanks Netgalley and Ian Flynn for giving me nostalgia vibes!

Honestly it is so nice to read a sonic comic again after so many years, I’m glad they kept the personalities, looks and the action. I’m over 30 and have no shame in still liking the blue blur since his Heroes days.
