The Matriarchy teeters on the edge of ruin, as the once-promised utopia crumbles under the weight of its own darkness. In Cries of War, book two of the Black Lotus Trilogy, the battle for humanity’s survival deepens, thrusting allies and enemies into a conflict that will define their future—or end it entirely.
The Crimson Straights, a hidden sanctuary forged by the legendary Red Ravens, stands as one of the last free bastions of hope. For fifty years, these elite warriors have defied the Council of Mothers, fighting to preserve a society where men and women can coexist in harmony. But with the rise of the infected Ferals and the looming shadow of the Matriarchy’s ultimate plan, the cost of resistance grows ever steeper.
Amidst the chaos, Mara and Dorian must navigate the fragile line between duty and desire, love and survival. Their bond is tested as they face impossible choices, uncover devastating truths, and prepare for a reckoning that will shape the fate of humanity.
Filled with electrifying battles, complex characters, and a gripping narrative, Cries of War plunges readers deeper into the heart of a world unraveling, setting the stage for an explosive finale that will leave you breathless.
3.5 rounded up. I’m so stressed for Mara and Dorian. The fate of humanity or womanity as they say is in their hands. They did not ask for this stress from Seraphines hostel ass. Somebody please sedate her 😂 She has completely lost her mind. She is a monster with no hope of redemption.
While I did enjoy book 2, some parts felt a bit repetitive. I kept asking myself, didn’t I just read this detail. Some flashbacks felt a little drawn out and less reflective. On a petty note, the word “grotesque” was used 27 times throughout the book to describe the Ferals 🥲
What a damn ride Mara and Dorian been thru hell and back to try and save humanity. Seraphine is pure evil I cant wait to start book three another great graphic audio takes this 2nd book over the top. The character development is perfect please read this series....
