The intent of the author was clearly that of delivering an understated little story, far from the "tall, dark and brooding" or from the "gorgeous men meet and fall for each other" clichés. Unfortunately this quiet little tale also lacks that hard-to-define sparkle of excitement of two lovers finding each other that makes a romance really enjoyable.
I rarely rate short stories highly, simply because they are so short it's difficult for me to get into the characters. I think Lane did an excellent job of painting the MC in 5000 words. It was well-written, sweet, and perfect for my Sunday morning pleasure. After finishing, I came immediately to Goodreads to see what else she's written that I might enjoy.
Simply gorgeous. In just over a dozen pages, the author deftly told me who these men are and convinced me to love them, and I enjoyed every moment. This lady has true talent. Looking forward to more work from her.
This was delightful. Patrick and Finn were adorable. Frankly, I've had days like Patrick had, but I didn't have the surprise ending. Would love a coda to catch up with these two.
