The Lies Of Omission

Rate this book
Two men.

One forbidden love.

And a truth that could ruin them both—if it doesn’t set them free first.

Sinclair

Getting exiled to my aunt's country home and being disowned was supposed to be a punishment. My parents were sick of my parties, my hookups, my refusal to play the perfect son. So now I’m stuck working at some uptight country club, pretending I’m not falling apart inside. Then I meet Theo Astor—buttoned-up, ice-cold, and twelve years older. He acts like he’s better than me, like I’m just a reckless distraction. The way he looks at me says otherwise.

I didn’t mean to want him. I definitely didn’t mean to need him.

But once we start, I can’t stop. Even if I’m just a secret he’s ashamed of.

Theo

I’ve spent my entire life doing what’s expected. Running my family’s legacy, keeping up appearances, saying yes when I want to scream no. Then Sinclair Soul walks into my club—loud, messy, infuriating, beautiful. He challenges everything I’ve buried and makes me want things I’ve fought so hard to forget.

Unfortunately in my world, there are rules I must follow, prying eyes to avoid, and an engagement I didn’t choose.

I can’t have him. I shouldn’t even look at him.

But I do.

And once I touch him, it’s already too late.

LOVE the tats on the cover model. My kind of broody. Shelving to remind myself one MC hooks up with OW at about 62%. 😱 This one’s not for me. Sounds otherwise angsty and intense though.

Wow this book was amazing. It really sucked me into it's orbit and I'm glad it did 🥰

Sin and Theo are so completely different, but somehow so similar at the same time. When they first met, both of them knew the other one is something special. There is so much tension and the push and pull game is strong and I enjoyed every second of it.

The entire series is amazing and this book is no exception. Definitely one of my top reads this month for sure 💞

This was incredible

I cried for Sin
I cried for Theo

My heart broke for Sin. What horrible treatment he has endured from those who were supposed to care about him.

I wow, this was incredible. I read it in one sitting.

Sin and Theo both come from families who see them as something to further an agenda, a pawn.

“We were just two boys bleeding quietly, trying to make something human out of the ruin that was our lives.”

Sin now working there country club Theo is learning to take from his father the two men crash wildly into eachothers lives. Never to look back.

Theo has buried this side of mine, his father does his fair share to bury it as well. Sin is everything Theo wants but should not have.

Sin knows his worth and just wants to be chosen for once. To have someone stay.

There was a lot of push and pull. It was hard. Theo needed a wake up call and Sin needed to set his boundaries. They did eventually do both those things.

“I’d always just wanted someone to choose me. To see me. To say, “I want you, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.” To pick me out of a crowd and not flinch when they saw everything broken inside of me.”

You could feel how much they both cared for each other. This was such a great book. Sin needed Theo to choose him openly.

When Theo finally stood up to his dad and chose Sin I was sobbing. So glad he found the strength to stand on his own and choose Sin properly not just in secret

“He made me whole. And as we lay there tangled together, I knew— this wasn’t the next chapter of my life. It was the beginning of forever.”

I loved this book
So so so well done

So thankful for this arc

Oh my heart. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Skyla has done it again. I devoured this book and read it in one sitting. I could not put it down!

Sin’s parents are nonexistent except when they need him to show up for their image. Theo’s parents just want to use him to further their status. Even though both of them come from influential families they are not the same, though each has demons to deal with.

This book has me all in my heart and I do think it’s my favorite of Skyla’s so far. While not as dark as her previous books, the plot was magnificent. Well freaking done!!!

ARC Review

What the hell did I just read and why am I crying about it hours later?
This book wrecked me in the most unexpected way. I went in thinking I’d get some tension, some angst, maybe a little forbidden fun. What I got instead was a deeply emotional, painfully intimate story about two people clawing their way toward something real in a world that keeps telling them they can’t have it.

Skyla doesn’t just write chemistry she builds it. Sinclair and Theo aren’t just opposites they’re two souls crashing into each other when they’re both barely holding it together. Sinclair is chaos and fire, loud and aching to be seen. Theo is control and silence, buried under decades of expectations. And together? They burn.

Their chemistry is insane. Every glance, every brush of skin, every argument laced with heat it’s addictive. But what truly undid me was the way they saw each other. Through the shame, the secrets, the guilt. They reached for each other anyway.

This isn’t just a forbidden romance. It’s a story about wanting more than what you’re allowed to have, about choosing vulnerability when it could cost you everything. It’s about finally saying, “I want this,” even when the world says you shouldn’t.

This book has left me emotionally raw. There’s so much to say about this beautiful story.

I’m gonna be extremely honest here. Reading this made feel so many different emotions at once.

I was angry at Theo for his hot and cold treatment of Sin. He wanted him so bad it hurt him, but he was such a chicken sh*t for not having the balls to stand up to his a$$ of a father.

It made me hurt for both Sin and Theo. How as parents can you hurt the person you’re supposed to love it’s beyond me. How can money, social status and appearances be more important than your own sons? I just don’t understand.

It broke me because none of them knew what it was like to be loved without expecting anything in return. They’ve never had anyone in their corner to fight and stand up for or with them.

It restored my faith in humanity when Thalia stuck with Sin through it all despite his deflections and belief he was alone. We all need a Thalia in our lives. Someone who sees the real us and won’t let us believe anything about us other than our fabulousness.

And finally, it healed me. Theo standing up for himself and Sin was the most beautiful part of this book. He took back his power. He chose love and happiness over a legacy that was never truly his to begin with. He chose to be free from the shackles that weighed him down all his life.

And most of all, he chose Sin. My beautiful, broken boy that deserved all the love and happiness in the world. The boy who only wanted to be loved, wanted and chosen for once in his life without strings attached.

There’s so much to love about this book. Was it toxic at times? Yep. Was it worth the read? HELL YEAH. Skyla wrote such complicated and profound characters that you forget that at one point you just want Theo and Sin to just break it off already 😅

At times it felt like a partner who keeps going back despite being cheated on repeatedly because Theo would make promises but constantly broke them. Until Sin decided he deserved more than being a secret. More than Theo’s constant fear of his father’s manipulation. He finally learned his worth and wasn’t afraid to let Theo know.

They both had a lot to learn. They both had to grow and navigate these rough waves. But most of all, they both knew they were made for each other.

4.5 stars. That was a wonderful read, it’s about healing, loving yourself, getting free from shackles, free from indoctrination, free from the people who refused to love you.

The more you get to know Theo the more you’ll get him, and like him. It took me a while to love him, but in the end, I understood what he’d been through and it was a lot!

Sinclair never felt loved, and been let down by the ones who should love him. Giving his heart to someone isn’t natural. He has high walls to hide after.

“I’d always hoped someone would choose me.”

“Love is about showing up after the storm and saying, ‘I’m still here’.”

Both men have been through so much hurt, it was a harsh journey. Thank goodness they survived and found the love of their life. I appreciated the widely written last chapters so much, it was quite satisfying!

Read the blurb, buy the book, it’s worth it, and enjoy the ride!

There's nothing I like more than broken boys finding love.
What a long hard road these 2 had to fight through. Reading the way both their families minus Theo's mom treated them was truly heartbreaking. It was so hard seeing Theo pull away every time he took a step forward with Sin. He really put us all on a roller-coaster trying to figure himself out. The pressure his dad put on him to be exactly what he believes they need to be as men and as heirs to the name is sad. Watching Theo struggle with that was hard because he kept hurting Sin and all I wanted to do was hug Sin's sadness away. It was so beautifully heartbreaking.

The Lies of Omission by Skyla Raines is the third book in the Without Limits series. In this book we follow the story of Theo and Sin. Sin is 23 years old and the son of Hollywood royalty who’s been nearly entirely forgotten by his parents. Eventually, he’s forced out of his home and passed onto an aunt who has just as much disdain for him as his own parents do. Theo is trapped in a cage of legacy, wealth and expectations. At 35, he has spent his entire life trying to live up to every insurmountable goal his father has laid out for him. He’s never felt anything but disappointment and resentment from his father and his mother is little more than a shadow in his world. When these two meet, their fears, traumas and desperation to feel anything real keeps them holding on even when they probably should have let go.

This story was amazingly heartbreaking and frustratingly good. Theo is easily one of the most broken and frustrating characters I’ve ever read. Just when you’d think he was finally breaking through some of his hesitation and trauma, he’d backtrack and yet, thats exactly what trauma does. It’s never a straight and easy path when you’ve been lead to believe horrible things about yourself by the one person who was meant to love you unconditionally. Sadly, Sin seemed to just be stuck on the merry-go-round of Theo, getting dragged back into his vortex over and over. They were truly two characters who fought so hard for their HEA in this story when every single road block was stacked up against them. Sin’s own traumas and fears were the poison that kept him stuck and he was so relatable for the nonstop push and pull. Knowing what you’re doing is slowly killing you from the inside out and yet not being able to fully walk away and save yourself. I fell in love with both of them by the end but it was an emotional rollercoaster. Overall I gave this book 4.7 stars.

All the stars!!!
This is the best book of Skyla so far!! I love Sin and Theo. They are both so broken and you just can’t help but love them.

It hurts reading about their lives and how neglectful and horrible their parents are!

It’s so much push and pull between them, so much hurt and fear that keeps them apart.

I was so happy when one of them finally stands up for himself. There is so much pain and heartache.

There were times I wanted to give the other one a slap (or two) on the head to make him see what his actions does to the other. But they grow from their wrongs and they fall in love and realize what they have in each other.

Skyla is a wizard with words! Her words goes straight to your heart <3

I really enjoyed this book, but it did take me a few chapters at the beginning to get into the style of writing. However, the storyline was so good that I stuck with it, and I’m glad I did because after Sin and Theo meet, I got completely drawn into the angst. It was emotional and powerful and raw, and I really felt their hurt as they struggle to find a way to be together.

Sin, he’s still young, only 23 yet he shows surprising maturity sometimes. In fact, it often felt as though he were the older one of the two of them, but I guess he’d had to grow up quickly after his parents left him in the care of nannies as a youngster, never giving him any affection. After being disowned and forced to move in with his mean aunt, he’s trying to find his bearings again in a new place. When he spots Theo at a bar one night, he’s immediately drawn to him but couldn’t have predicted how much hurt was in store as he tries to convince the other man to give them a chance.

Theo’s overwhelmed by the suffocating nature of his father, who pushes him to be the perfect heir, encouraging him to become cutthroat in the business world and pressuring him to marry to further the family name. When Theo sees Sin for the first time in the bar, he’s slowly drowning under the pressure of living a lie for over twenty years. From that moment he’s hooked on Sin, but he does try and fight it for a long time, attempting to keep hiding his feelings under his well-used mask. Eventually though, he accepts the truth, and in a vain attempt to protect Sin, he’s never completely honest with him.

You can really feel the chemistry between Sin and Theo as they’re drawn together like magnets; when Theo succumbs to the temptation for a little while, their interactions are laced with an explosive passion, though he’s convinced that they never have a chance.

'I buried my head in his chest like maybe I could hide from the truth of what we were. Because this wasn’t a love story. It was two broken boys meeting in the wreckage of what they were supposed to be.’ (Theo)

The spicy scenes were interesting because sometimes the descriptions were more focused on their emotional connection rather than their physical one. It was a really powerful moment when the emotional weight of everything hits Theo full force during their first ‘claiming’, and Sin supports him so beautifully.

I have to mention Sin’s new friendship with Thalia as well, because I absolutely loved their scenes together; she added some humour and warmth to the storyline and gave Sin somebody to lean on when he was hurting so deeply from Theo’s mixed signals. Their fun banter showed us another side of Sin, the kind friend he could be, something he’d never really had chance to experience before.

I also loved that Skyla took time to close the storyline properly after the characters worked things out, not just finishing with a quick overview of the outcomes in the epilogue. After everything they’d been through, Sin and Theo deserved that extra time to heal together and show us that all that angst hadn’t been in vain. I was really happy with that ending – it felt so right for their characters, and I’m so glad that one of their parents finally stepped up to support them.

I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of Skyla Raine's permanent ARC team. She consistently delivers amazing stories that never disappoint. As a MM romance fan, I find myself completely immersed in her books, falling in love with the characters every time. This particular story had a perfect push-and-pull dynamic that kept me invested. I was rooting for both characters to achieve their happy ending. The plot was engaging and had just the right amount of spice to keep things exciting. The side characters were also fantastic, and I eagerly hope to see their stories told in the future. Both guys stole my heart from start to finish as they fought hard for their happiness. Skyla has a remarkable way of evoking deep emotions, and my heart was truly invested throughout the book, making it nearly impossible to set down.

Sin- Did I love this man? Absolutely. He was everything you could want: “brilliant, rebellious, uncontainable, and chaotic.” When he set his sights on something, he went after it with relentless determination, and this time, it was Theo who caught his eye. At the same time, I understood the deep-seated pain within him; I felt a strong urge to wrap my arms around him, to hold him and show him what real love looks like.  Perhaps that is the mom within me. Sin never experienced love from his parents. His parents completely overlooked his existence, treating him like an afterthought, discarding him the moment he became too much to handle. He deserved so much better.

“𝘉𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘦.”

Theo, I love this man just as much. There were moments when I wanted to both yell at him and hug him all at once. I never hated his character; in fact, I found him to be even more broken than Sin. While he may not have been completely forgotten like Sin was, he faced an even harsher upbringing. Throughout this book, I felt the weight of his struggles deeply. I often wished I could reach through the pages to assure him that he is loved and that everything will be okay.

4 stars for the all the good moments in the book, plus her writing was effortless.

Minor spoilers

Her writings flows and weaves into a beautiful poetry without being too hard and complicated to read.

There were moments where the writing perfectly captivated the essence of the story. The struggles, the challenges, the yearning of the characters was beautifully depicted. Yet in the same instance, the vagueness of the story and many others plot holes failed to capture that genuine feelings it might having been hoping to express.

One thing that really stood out to me the most was: the first time the two heroes meet, we are giving a lovely insight into their minds. It was a love at sight for both of them. However in no particular order were they ever about to kiss.

“He studied me. Not like prey—like a puzzle. Or a threat. Or both. The bartender returned with his drink. He nodded, then looked back at me.
“You’re new.”
“Wow,” I said flatly. “So much for flying under the radar.”

This is Sinclair’s perspective. He found a cold, handsome man he was attracted to and after exchanging some pleasantries Theo leaves him at the bar. And even though we know he is attracted to Sin, in no way does this passage or the any other reflects Sin knowing this titbit information. In fact we only get to know this after reading Theo’s perspective. He was that savvy.

So correct me if I am wrong, but I felt like I missed a huge chunk of something when few chapters down the road Sinclair confidently recalls the same event through a completely different lens.

“Don’t do that.”
“Do what?”
“Pretend like you didn’t watch me last night like you wanted to press me up against the wall and ruin me.”

Like what.?

Was I supposed to read the first two books before picking third in this series because I feel discombobulated. This was there like what, second interaction so far, and Sin already acted like he had dissected Theo to the tea.

Even in the later chapters, some events didn’t match up and I felt like on the loosing end of the thread because I really did love her book. I just couldn’t take the half ass plot holes and the wonky ass timeline at best.

What disappointed me was all the other details are illustrated so eloquently and yet when the time for the pining and the relationship development to shine came. It felt flat. I felt there was more telling than showing. We are told that he ghosts him time and time again but because it was not properly explained and just said into a conversation or two. I just felt Sin was overacting or something. And I knew that was wrong. In my heart I knew Theo was in the wrong but because I didn’t have a solid reason or emotion to really hate him I didn’t care that much

💔 Caught Between a Sin and a Hard Place 💔

🫣 DAMN this book. I picked it up expecting a little forbidden tension, some slow-burn angst, maybe even a sexy secret or two... but what I got? A soul-punching, painfully intimate, gorgeously raw story that absolutely wrecked me. 😭

This wasn’t just Sin and Theo falling in love — it was them clawing their way toward something real in a world that told them they couldn't have it. It was painful. It was vulnerable. It was unapologetically emotional. And I felt every second of it. 💔

Sin... my chaotic, loud, beautifully broken boy. 🖤 He wore his hurt like armour — always performing, always deflecting. But underneath? A kid who's never been chosen for who he really is. That cut deep. I wanted to wrap him in a blanket and protect him from everything. 😭

Then there’s Theo. Sweet, composed, emotionally-constipated Theo 🥺 — born into a world of legacy, silence, and pressure, where desire has no room to breathe. His walls? Fortress-level. But what he hides behind them? Oof. My heart. 😩

And these two together? HOT. AS. F*CK. 🔥 Every glance. Every argument. Every brush of skin. Every moment laced with so much tension it practically crackled. But what really did me in was the way they saw each other — through shame, secrets, and so much fear... and still, they reached. They chose each other. 💔

I wanted to strangle several people (especially one — and if you know, you KNOW 😤), but watching Sin and Theo fight for what they wanted — messy, beautiful, real love — was the wild ride I never saw coming. 🫶

Skyla’s writing? Absolutely phenomenal. 🔥 It’s vivid, unflinching, and packed with so much raw tension you can feel it in your chest. Every emotion, every moment — it all hits hard. She doesn’t just tell the story, she makes you live it. From the very first page, I was all in.

This isn’t your typical forbidden romance. It’s about fighting for something real in a world full of rules. It’s choosing to want what you’re told you can’t have — and daring to take it anyway. 💬❌

Rating: 3.5 ⭐️

First:

I don't hate it. I'm just mildly disappointed.

I read "The lies we believe" not too long ago & was WAITING for this one.

I loved "The Lies we believe".
The story was amazing. The character - building great.
I. Could. Not. Put it down.

Soo...
This wasn't that great.
I can't shake the feeling that it could have been - but it just wasn't.
Don't get me wrong.
I loved both Theo & Sin (maybe Sin more than Theo...).
However, I just didn't love the story.

Sins friendship with Thalia felt...off?
Well, not the friendship.
I was so relieved that Sin had at least someone in his corner. But the development of said friendship? Not existent?
He arrived, they met, they were besties? Like they knew each other from childhood - even though they just didn't?
I somehow couldn't get past that - sorry. Felt weird.
Like he needed a sidekick, and someone snapped a finger & there she was.

Anyway.

Sometimes, the sentences felt repetitive.
Didn't love that.

And every time the story developed, it was rushed.
Without any explanation, something happened, followed by a looooong inner monologue/ reflection with repetitive thoughts from the mmc's.
Also - felt kinda off.

I can't shake the feeling this book could have been amazing. From the last one, I know Skylar Raines can write amazing stories with depth.

But this one wasn't.

It felt like the release date was coming & it needed to be finished in a rush.

To be fair - loved the characters and liked the story as a whole - but the building & writing of the story just felt weird.

Sorry.

I will definitely read the next book in this series - but this one won't get a reread.

Skyla can do no wrong. She’s done it again with a story that grips your heart, makes you ache, and has you holding your breath until the very last page.

After being kicked out by his parents, Sin is sent to live with his cold aunt and take a job at an elite country club. The night before he starts, he has a flirty, magnetic encounter with a stranger named Theo… only to discover the next day that Theo is his new boss.

What follows is an emotional burn between two broken boys who just want to be seen. Their connection is raw, undeniable, and electric. The chemistry? Off the charts. But how do you build something real when the world, and your own fears, are against you?

Theo shattered me. Forced to hide his true self behind polished smiles and performative perfection, he’s suffocating under the weight of legacy and expectation. There were moments I wanted to shake him for how he treated Sin, but I understood why he did it too. He’s scared, trapped, and desperately trying to keep everything from falling apart. You you can feel how much he wants more for himself but isn't sure how he can have it.

And then there’s Sin. My sweet, defiant, beautiful Sin. All charm and cheek, using wit and flirtation like armor to protect the pain underneath. He just wants someone to see him, choose him, love him and keep him. He’s used to being overlooked, pushed aside, unseen and Theo both breaks and heals that part of him.

Together, they’re fire. All forbidden touches, secret glances and tension. But beyond the heat, it’s the vulnerability, its being seen and held for exactly who they are. Its this that makes their love story unforgettable. Their HEA is well deserved but it's a rocky path to get there.

Skyla has this way of pouring every ounce of emotion into her writing. The Lies of Omission isn’t just a romance, it’s a story about the cost of hiding, and the beauty of finally being seen.

If you love forbidden love, tension, and characters that tear your heart wide open, this one will stay with you long after the last page.

Ohhhh this book got me, sucked my A$$ right in and then throw me out with emotional damage! I don’t know if I was just too emotional at the time reading this book but I cried and that doesn’t happen all the time . Happy tires..

You have Sinclair that is young and foolish , wants loves but doesn’t know how. He is broken from his family that has really never been there and throw him to the dogs and abandoned him. Kicked him out on his birthday and sent him to his aunt that really doesn’t want anything to do with him. But she did get him a job. Nice right! Wrong.

Then there is Theo he is older, has a business to run with his father but really can care less. He needs to keep up appearances, do what he is told when he really just wants to run! And guess what who just stop his world.
Sinclair…. There bond, love, attachment is emotional in this book that sometime you want to slap them along with make them hug it out.

And the spice… YUMMY! I know this one is a standalone but I really want to run and fall in love with more heartbreak, damage men cause this author has 2 more in this series.

Not only is this book serious at time but has laugh out load parts along with fluffy parts too! I love Theo cat Winston ( cat girl here) he is uptight and bougie just like him! There is a cat sense in this book that had me rolling. I can so picture it a BIG FAT MESS in my head.

Along with Sinclair best friends Thalia & Claire. You can tell how much they really love there friend and goods ones are hard to come buy nowadays. Eating Chinese food together is another part I really loved.

I have to say, I have read a few book by this author and she always comes in hard but can add a few parts that that make you emotional and warm your heart too! I really enjoyed her book and can’t wait to see what the others one have in store too!
And she is the best at writing dangerous, sexy, damage men!

Wow. This book completely sucked me into its orbit and refused to let go — and honestly? I’m so glad it did because I could not put it down.

Sin and Theo are opposites in every way — grumpy/sunshine, chaos/control, fire/ice — and yet they see each other so clearly it hurts. Their chemistry? Absolutely electric. Every glance, every brush of skin, every argument laced with tension was addictive.

From the very first meeting, you know these two are something special. But what I didn’t expect was how much this story would wreck me. I thought I was signing up for forbidden fun and angsty banter… but what I got was a deeply emotional, painfully intimate journey of two broken, beautiful men trying to claw their way toward something real in a world that keeps telling them they can’t have it.

This book isn’t just forbidden romance — it’s about choosing vulnerability, about healing, about learning to want more than survival. And the writing? Chef’s kiss. Skyla Raines doesn’t just write chemistry — she builds it slowly, devastatingly, perfectly.

- MM forbidden romance
- Billionaire romance
- Secret relationship
- Grumpy/sunshine
- Opposites attract
- Age gap
- Two broken boys who just want to be loved

"I’d always hoped someone would choose me."
"Love is about showing up after the storm and saying, ‘I’m still here.’"

By the end, I didn’t just love Theo and Sin — I understood them. And I was rooting so hard for their happy ending.

If you love your romance with tension, heartache, slow burn, and a side of emotional devastation (with a satisfying payoff), The Lies of Omission is 100% worth your time. Read the blurb. Buy the book. Buckle up. You won't be disappointed!

I didn’t think I could love a story as much as I loved this one. Skyla really had me in my moments from the first chapter to the very end with Sin and Theo. These two went through their own adventures and to see it laid out like this was so beautiful to watch it unravel.

First off… Thalia. I loved her so much. Her friendship with Sin was everything. He had never had anyone care so much about him or his wellbeing and she was there for every moment. She protected him and love him unconditionally. To have a friend like that was so beautiful.

I loved how she portrayed both MC’s from Sin wanting to be loved so much and for Theo to just be seen and to be himself. They were both scared of different possibilities and it was so beautiful when Theo finally let himself be seen when his father just went too far.

And can I just say I loved Winston. Best scene was when Theo and Sin had to capture him to take him to his new home. Simply priceless.

The spice was spicing. I loved how in tune they were with another and every scene with them just got hotter and hotter. I just loved how they yearned for one another. It was simply beautiful to see them get their happily ever after even though it took trial and error.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

I can’t even find the right words.
This book is more than fantastic.
At the beginning, Sin seems like a careless, spoiled jerk who doesn’t take anything seriously, while Theo comes across as this stiff, uptight guy.
But I couldn’t have been more wrong about them.

Because throughout the book, we learn not only that Sin — sweet baby Sin — just wanted… no, not just wanted, deep down in his heart yearned to be loved, to be chosen by someone, willingly… but we also learn that Theo was sent to conversion therapy by his father when he was fifteen, after catching him with a boy. And even though it didn’t change who he was attracted to, it did teach him how to lie, how to adapt so he would fit into his father’s world. It also made him hate his father, because he had to deny himself for so many years.

And he succeeded in pretending to be someone he wasn’t… until he met Sin.
Watching that sweet boy try to seduce Theo while Theo fought it with everything he had — zero success, because honestly, he should’ve known he stood no chance against Sin 🙄 — all while Theo kept hiding things from him… I was holding my head, yelling: “Theo, get yourself together already!!!”

And oh my God, when Sin finally realized his own worth, and how much he didn’t want to be anyone’s dirty little secret, and he walked away from Theo… I literally sobbed. I was not prepared for the pain I felt in that moment.

But Theo changed so much over the course of the book, and I absolutely loved the moment when he finally — FINALLY — stood up for himself, for his future, and for Sin, against his father 🥹

This book is a miracle. I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone.

So, this is definitely my favorite book in this series, and my second favorite book I’ve read from Skyla Raines. My emotions are seriously all over the place, even days later.

The first half of this book broke me. But the second half took those broken pieces and shatter them, wrecking me entirely before slowly putting me back together. Every emotion from pain to frustration was pulled out of me as I followed Sin and Theo on their journey. The both of them had me in a complete chokehold. They held me captive and forced me to take witness to their story, to feel what they felt. I drowned in their hard fought, yet totally deserved love… and I don’t regret it.

I lost count of how many times my heart and soul broke for Sin, and the amount of times I wanted to knock some sense into some of the people around him. He went through it, and I loved how he continued to be wholeheartedly himself despite that.

Theo grew on me so much. While I can definitely see some people getting irritated or frustrated with him, I understood him completely. It’s hard breaking out of what you’ve known your whole life for something new. It’s terrifying, and it makes you want to cling to what you know, even if it’s not exactly the best for you. It broke my heart watching him struggle.

There truly aren’t enough words to properly express how much I loved this. And not just Theo and Sin. Thalia was amazing too. I fell in love with her character, and with the way she cared for Sin. Everyone needs a Thalia in their life.

Read this story. Feel the pain and desperation of two souls meant for each other.

I got an advanced copy and this is my voluntary review.

Lies of Omission ARC Review:

Sin and Theo 💚🧡💖

The two cross paths after Sin is cut off and sent away to his aunt’s home, where he is told to work at the country club, which is being managed by Theo. Theo has been pushed into a role he never wanted and wears a cold facade to survive in his unforgiving world, where Sin buries his own pain under a layer of playful chaos. Despite both knowing it would be a disaster waiting to happen, Sin and Theo find that staying away from each other is impossible.

The path to letting a life he’s been forced into go is anything but simple for Theo, causing himself and Sin so much pain. Sin and Theo may relate in some ways but while Sin refuses to play the perfect son for his family, Theo is still stuck in a life he has no control over and doesn’t see a way out. Their story made my heart ache, I felt so drawn to both of them! When things were fragile and bittersweet or when my heart broke right alongside them, I was still rooting for them the entire time! They had me pretty dang weepy during my time reading. While Sin is everything to me, I found that I loved Theo even when I felt like throwing things at him. They both deserve happiness and nothing less!

With Sin’s move, he not only finds a home in Theo, he also finds the best friends that become his chosen family. I loved how Sin and his bestie clicked, giving them both the platonic love and care neither had before working at the country club together. I am elated to have these four characters join the ever growing list of beloved characters, Sin and Theo will be haunting my brain forever!

5/5 🌟

The Lies of Omission completely captured my heart. I absolutely loved Sin and Theo’s story, and the way Skyla Raines told it was powerful, emotional, and achingly real.

Theo needed the space to grow, to stumble, and ultimately to rise into his truth. His journey wasn’t just about love. In the end, he didn’t only fight for Sin. He fought for himself. For the right to be seen. To be whole. To belong. To be loved. Watching him step into who he truly is felt earned and incredibly satisfying.

And Sin, beautiful chaos. His story hurt in the quietest, deepest way. After being disowned by his family, he carried wounds that went far beyond heartbreak. He had to learn how to love himself, to believe he was worthy of being wanted, of being chosen, of being loved in return. That kind of healing isn’t easy. It’s a battle for your sense of worth, and Skyla captured that struggle so honestly.

Their love isn’t soft or simple. It’s raw. It’s messy. It’s relentless. Every day is a fight for connection, for acceptance, for staying when walking away would be easier. And that’s what made their relationship so powerful. They didn’t save each other. They stood beside each other while learning how to survive themselves.

The emotional depth, the vulnerability, the growth, and the devotion in this book left me full and aching all at once. Skyla Raines gave Sin and Theo the story they deserved.

I absolutely adore these two. Five stars, without hesitation. 🖤

Lies of Omission is the story of Sin and Theo. Sin is a young man who the world continues to toss aside. He has famous actor parents and was raised by nannies so he has never truly felt loved by anyone. He is kicked out of his home and forced to live with an aunt who also doesn't want him around. He starts work at a country club. He meets Theo in a hole in the wall bar and for both, their meeting feels like an entire shift in the universe. Theo has grown up under the shadow of his father's control. He spends every waking thought on how to be the "perfect son, the obedient heir". Theo has been forced to stifle every part of himself but meeting Sin blows up his entire world.

This story had some of the best tension and chemistry I have ever read. These two are magnets. I truly felt for both of them and the situations they had been thrust into. While this story has good spice, I felt it focused more on developing intimacy which I really enjoyed. It made their relationship feel more authentic to me.

In my opinion, this is the best writing Skyla Raines has produced. It almost read like poetry at times, with very beautiful descriptions and a fluidity that felt very thought provoking. Lies of Omission is a story that will stay with me for awhile, and I can honestly say this has become one of my favorite stories I've ever read.

This book wrecked me in the most unexpected, breathtaking way. I went in expecting tension, angst, maybe a little forbidden fun. What I got instead was a deeply emotional, painfully intimate story about two people fighting tooth and nail for something real in a world that keeps telling them they can’t have it.

Skyla doesn’t just write chemistry—she builds it, layer by layer, until it’s alive. Sinclair and Theo aren’t just opposites—they’re two fractured souls colliding when they’re both barely holding themselves together.

Sinclair is chaos and fire—bold, messy, aching to be seen. Theo is quiet control, tightly wound beneath the crushing weight of years of expectations. And when they meet? They burn.

Their chemistry is electric. Every glance, every touch, every argument practically sizzles. But what truly gutted me wasn’t just the heat—it was the way they saw each other. Through the shame. Through the secrets. Through the guilt. And still, they reached.

This isn’t just a forbidden romance. It’s a story about wanting—wanting what you’re not supposed to, wanting more than you’re allowed, and choosing it anyway. It’s about vulnerability that hurts, love that terrifies, and finally saying, “I want this,” even when everything says you shouldn’t.

I don’t know how I’ll recover from this book—but I know I’ll never forget it.

DNF.
i dont know. like i was really in the mood for a book with a couple thats a little toxic and i would say like maybe the first 10 % i really enjoyed! thing was, it got repetitive reeeeaaallly quickly. like for i would say 4 to 5 times it was the same thing. sin (totally gone like 1 second after meeting the man) was lusting bad and getting in bed with theo, theo then immediatly after getting what he wanted would turn from lover boy to how could i have done that, i need to never do that again. to then show the weakest set of wills i ever had the pleasure of witnessing. and the cycle would start anew.
also the writing was getting on my nerves a bit. at the start i kind of ejoyed the flowery and descriptive way but after a while i did not need to know how the water beckoned like a lullyaby or how the sun bled across the sky, time marching forward continously because it didn´t know how to stop.
like at some point i just didn´t need any weird poertic interpretations of what was happening anymore because the rest of the story was kind of dull.
so... i didn´t enjoy this that much. but for lovers of painful romance where you´re shaking your head at the Mcs for 90 % of the time, this book is perfect.
P.S.: like how is theo 35!!! years old. man. get your life in order

The push & pull will draw you in and keep you there!

Ahhhhhh, everytime I read something new of Skyla's I am absolutely blown away. I love, love, LOVE her writing 💜.

Skyla brings the intense heart palpitations with all the spicy heat, delicious tension and overwhelming heartwrenching angst in a way that is absolute perfection in my eyes and she did so again with Theo & Sin 😈.

Sin is such an absolute chaos gremlin, looking for love in all the wrong places and ways (even though he'd fight me and say he wasn't). But thankfully Theo meets him in the darkness, and their like calls to like as Sin recognizes Theo as a kindred spirit. Theo is the other half to his whole, and thankfully Theo comes to this realization as well.

I loved the way these two loved, but be prepared to want to throw your Kindle across the room because their love doesn't come easy! 💔 This is high angst, so there are plenty of road blocks, craters and earth shattering pitfalls along the way 🥹, but the ride is so so soooo worth it. If you've loved Skyla's books in the past, this definitely won't disappoint. It's not as dark as others but it certainly makes up for it in punches to the heart that will leave you equally devastated and determined to see their love through💥.

When Sin & Theo come together it's explosive and wrought with such tension 🫠🔥, I mean what's better than a repressed daddy's boy meeting a give no f**ks chaos demon?! 💯🫣. The side characters were also so beautifully fleshed out and we all need a Thalia in our corner 🥹💗. I cannot recommend this book enough! Seriously, you'll devour it and then sit staring into the abyss wondering what to do with your life after 🤣.
