The Azure Crown: The Dreamers Saga Book One

Rate this book
Nessa Everette believed her greatest adventure would be moving across the country to start college, not a near kidnapping by a deranged bounty hunter. Or falling through the Veil into the land of Avani.

And yet…

The rules are different in this new world. There’s magic, lots of it, and a kingdom that will stop at nothing to take it all. Now, Nessa must run for her life amidst a devastating war. Luckily, she has an elf guard, an infamous general and a roguish thief to help her along the way. The wizard, however, may not have all his marbles.

Nessa must come face to face with a past she's never known and discover the power that lies within her.

If she doesn't, Avani will fall.

The Azure Crown is book one of The Dreamers Saga.

I typically don’t give star ratings but today I’m helping out a fellow author who has written a lovely, charming fairy tale. This portal fantasy grabbed me with the opening- a coffee shop in a college town. Nessa is pulled from her ordinary modern life into a fantasy world where she finds nothing but trouble.
Loved the pop culture references throughout and the names of chapters made me smile. Scenes with Rinn crackled and watching our main character turn into a sword-wielding badass was super fun.
Thanks to Elizabeth Bird for the entertaining story!

This is a fun portal fantasy that does a great job of brining a character from our world into a fantasy world. I enjoyed the lord of the rings references, the time spent traveling, and the wizard Al! The wizard was really my favorite character.
If you are looking for a new fantasy book with chill magic, a short quest, and no long drawn out battles this is for you!
While this is going to be a series this book wraps up enough that you could definitely read this before the rest of the series comes out without too much stress.

The only thing I personally didn’t enjoy is our main character does occasionally become rough in personality without reason. I don’t like when characters are snappy or harsh with a character they just met who is being kind to them at first. Like why are you being mean just give it a minute. I feel like in this one it is done to create tension and is a little inconsistent. A very small thing though that is more something I personally don’t enjoy.

Would highly recommend 🥳🥳🥳

This is one of the best YA fantasy book series out there! Mrs. Bird’s skill transferring emotions to paper is the best I can recall ever reading.

This book was just so enjoyable cover to cover my review wont give due justice. The last 70 pages were EPIC! Just flat out amazing storytelling! I feel like Im in grade school playing D&D again. Give this to young (and old) fantasy readers and they’ll be hooked for life!

Im glad I already bought the Crimson Kingdom, #2 in the series, so I don’t have to wait for the story to continue!

A magical, fast paced adventure that had me hooked from the start! Nessa is a relatable, brave heroine thrown into a rich, dangerous world full of elves, war, and secrets. The mix of humor, heart, and high stakes action kept me turning pages late into the night. I loved the dynamic cast especially the roguish thief and slightly unhinged wizard! The Azure Crown is a strong start to a fantasy series I can't wait to continue.
