As a prey shifter, Sully has spent his life protected inside a haven town. So what if he often catches himself wondering about the world outside it? He's safe here. The simple rules the haven went by were easy to always mask your scent, stick with your kind, and don't go into the woods at the edge of town alone. Simple, really. Unless you were an inquisitive quokka caught on an unfamiliar scent, tempting you to wander far from home.
Imri was used to other shifters being afraid of his dingo form. He stayed away from most places, happy to live alone on the outskirts of town until he glimpsed a sweet little quokka lost in the woods. Helping him home was the right thing to do, but now the prey shifter won't stay away! No matter what Sully's nose is saying, they weren't a good match. Not when Imri's a quokka's biggest predator.
The Quokka Who Cried Dingo is a low angst, omegaverse, mpreg story with a bunch of cute prey shifters and a quokka who is too curious for his own good.
Join us for Heat, Prey, Love, an omegaverse collaboration where prey shifters take center stage with a whole lot of heat and love. We can't wait for you to devour these stories.
Omg this was the cutest! Poor Sully. After a childhood incident that had him running for his life from a seemingly wild Dingo he makes it back to his haven town safely only for nobody to believe him. I felt so bad for him. Even his parent's reactions made it clear that they thought he had made the entire incident up. Then, Sully even had to deal with the merciless teasing and bullying from the other inhabitants of the town. It was just so mean! Who could bully a sweet little quokka omega like Sully! Jerks, that's who!
After the death of his beloved uncle, Alpha dingo shifter Imri has settled into his property in the woods that border a haven town. The purpose of a haven town is supposed to be a safe place to live for both prey and predator shifters, however this particular one doesn't seem to be very friendly to those in the predator category. Since he's leery of town, Imri spends his time fixing up his uncle's house and the bonus gift his uncle left in his care. (I don't wanna spoil!)
I'll be honest. Imri was on my bad list when he and Sully first met. Jax had me worried. I know Imri had real reasons for his behavior, but I just did not want to see sweet Sully go through any hurt again. I needn't have worried though. It didn't take Imri long to embrace his fated mate status after truly getting to know Sully. I also loved how much Imri's family took to him too. Though Sully's parents do care for him, I felt like Imri's parents showed Sully what true unconditional love for parental figures was supposed to be like.
There were a few side characters I was particularly fond of and it's a good thing for me because it seems like one of them will be having their book next!
Sully is a quokka, a small furry animal, which immediately makes him prey to larger animals. After an incident in the woods west of his small town, Sully is basically the laughingstock of all the kids. Little do they know that he is part of a larger coverup by some members of the community.
Imri is new to Haenvale. His Uncle Malik left him his home in the woods after passing away from a shifting disease. He also hoped his nephew would take care of his adopted family. With a readymade family, Imri isn’t sure of starting a relationship with anyone in this town. He really wasn’t prepared to be fated to Sully.
I loved this book for so many reasons!! The first being Imri’s family in the woods. I loved that Malik took care of this family to the best of his abilities. I loved that Imri immediately loved them as well. I adore Sully and his friendship with Trisha. This story has a more than romance to it. It talks about the segregation of Rowan’s family and the Oaken coven and how the predator shifters are treated differently than the prey. The social justice aspect of the story is really good in my opinion. I am totally loving this collaboration. Right now, shifter romance is my favorite thing to read!!
Imri and Sully's story is so sweet! If you're looking for a cute read about fated mates, and unique shifters, then you have to read this! I've never come across any other stories that have had a quokka or a dingo shifter in it before, until now. I personally love when there are chapters of the characters in their animal forms, and there were those moments in this story which I really enjoyed! Even before they knew what they are to each other, Imri and Sully's animal forms somehow knew who the other was.
The aspect of the town of Haenvale being against predator shifters was quite interesting. I liked how throughout the story Imri, Sully, and a few others, tried to figure out why predator shifters were so discriminated against, and how they could fix it so things were more balanced for both Prey and predator shifters. Imri's found family made me smile, he is such a great dad to those kids. From the very beginning he cared about their well-being and happiness more than anything else, and that spoke volumes about his true character.
Sully's characters was cute, kind, sassy, and stubborn. His relationship with his family is.. difficult, but through a lot of trials and errors, they work things out overtime. His relationship with Imri developed in an interesting way, there was quite a bit of back and forth that happened between these two men. So, if you're expecting smooth sailing after they find out their mates.. that won't be what you get. Instead, you'll get a story about two men who are trying to do the best they can with the situation they find themselves in. Who.. eventually fall in love, and form a family unit.
All in all, a well written story full of cuteness and love! Oh! And opposites attract.
This was an interesting story and there was quite a bit of world building. Honestly, I wasn't quite sure what to think about the preface describing the two Earths but I kind of just went with it. It takes quite a bit of time until the two main characters even cross paths. I enjoyed this story of a quokka (prey) meeting his dingo (predator) mate but the beginning kind of dragged on a bit for me. I almost think this is closer to a 3.5 star reading for me as I really liked Sully and Imani. Once they get into this playful routine of Sully trying to guess his name, then it picked up for me. I would've liked to have seen more interaction between these two. It's mentioned that Sully likes makeup in one scene, but that's before he even meets Imani and then it's kind of never mentioned again. I also didn't quite follow the overarching plot line of the predator animals being lesser than the prey. It kind of comes together in the end but something about it didn't click with me and I can't quite put my finger on why.
Sully was a lot of fun and I loved his stubbornness. He's goes for what he wants and isn't afraid to put it on the line. I really thought Imani had the biggest heart and I loved the way he took care of the kids. These two really were some of the best of this story. It's kind of weird for me to say but I wanted more of these guys and less of the outside plot. Overall, it's a decent addition to the series and is a fun read.
When Sully gets tricked into going into the woods, that the whole town is told to stay away from, he meets someone and it changes his life for the better. No one believes his story and he becomes the town laughing stock. He couldn't wait to leave for college to get away from the teasing/bullying/gaslighting. Now four years later and he's back. He's also determined to prove he was right and the only way he can is by going back to the woods where it all began.
Imri inherited his Uncle Malik's home, land and money to take care of it all. He also inherited his uncle's secret. Imri is stunned but 💯% on board to not only keep his uncle's secret but to take on the responsibility it entails. When the lands wards go off, he goes to check it out and finds Sully searching for his proof.
Sully and Imri are a match made in heaven, which is a good thing because Sully isn't letting Imri run him off. These two fight to stay together against a town that has let fear segregate them.
This is a sweet, low drama fantasy/paranormal/romance. The beginning had me crying over Uncle Malik. He was such a good man, with a big heart. I felt like Jax really tapped into the emotions of this storyline. Then the story around did Sully see a dingo or not was well done. The gaslighting was real. There are characters you’ll want to slap and others you'll want to hug and hold onto. The parents showed different personalities and ways of dealing with things due to their environment and what they've been exposed to. I loved Imri's moms from the beginning. Sully's parents were a work in progress. The blended family worked smoothly and was a breath of fresh air from all the in-law/step family stories we usually have. Such a well written, thought out story. Barely took time for dinner it was so good IMO. 😍

I really enjoyed this book. Sully is an omega quokka shifter and at their graduation party, was dared to go into the west woods. When he encountered a dingo and was scared off, he went running back, but no one believed him with what he encountered. Fast forward 4 years and Sully is back in his hometown. He works for his parents at the hotel, and they are trying to arrange a mating for him. With the pull of the woods, he goes exploring and encounters a dingo. He later realized it was not the one that he saw before. This is the start of the story with how he met Imri and both realizing they were mates. I loved how they got together and how Imri adopted some children that his uncle was protecting. Great world building with high heat and chemistry between them. Looking forward to reading more in this shared world.
A first for me a Quokka and a Dingo, whilst I have heard of a Dingo I have never heard of a Quokka, so I did google it and what a little cute creature, making what Sully did so brave. I liked Sully straightaway, a past incident and a pushy mom, I could understand whilst Sully wanted to explore. Imri didn't trust the town and as Sully came from the town I could understand his concerns and the need to protect what was his. But you cannot play with fate and I liked Sully being the feisty omega he was, getting what he wanted and Imri whilst the Alpha happy to be pursued. I liked that both characters had family and friends that supported them even if some were unexpected. The undercurrent story of the town making it not always easy to fit in, added an extra layer to the story. This was a fun read
👬MM Romance 🫣Low angst 🐭🐕 Animal Shifters 💘Fated Mates 💟Found Family 👨Single Dad 🫂 Happy Ever After
This book is adorable with a side of warm chocolate chip cookies. I read it in about a day, and I was saying aww to myself so often, and my face had a steady smile. I really gobbled it up. If you want to read an unlikely predator/prey pairing that is lovable to the nth level, read this treasure. It has mpreg animal shifter lore and a cute Quokka and Dingo who fall in love.
This is a fated mates novel, and I felt the insta connection was well-written. I was kicking my feet reading about Sully and Imri's connection. I really loved this book, and I was feeling a little down before reading it. It was a serotonin pick me up, and I highly recommend it!
TW: There was a pregnancy complication briefly mentioned
I was very excited about reading this story. I love reading different shifter matches and this one did not disappoint. I will say I was kind of bummed that it took almost 10chapters to have the MCs meet each other. But once they met, the story/romance took off like firecrackers. Very hot, very bittersweet and oh so lovely. Sully was a lively little omega quokka that knew what he was about and I love that he was not backing down for nobody or a challenge...and Imri threw down the challenge and it was accepted and eventually Sully was victorious in all ways. This romance pull on a lot of emotional feels and I was all about it. I really recommend this if you want a feel good and fun romantic read.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
In a paranormal, haven town of Haenvale on Earth two, an Omega quokka shifter named Sully came back from college. The main rule in town was wear an inhibitor so others can't separate prey from predators and stay out of the west woods. Imri, an Alpha Dingo shifter inherits a property in the west woods along with three witch children. When they meet in the woods, they immediately know they are fated mates. It's a sweet paranormal in an original setting with a touch of magic, a matchmaking mama and a found family of witches as the guys work out how to be mates when they really shouldn't be. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.
This was a cute story, I really liked the concept and I would have loved to see more of them in their shifted forms. The beginning of this book was also very fun with Sully feeling a pull towards the woods even though he knew he shouldn’t be there. I was a big fan of all their friends and how Sully accepted Imri’s mini family. However this book felt like a lot of narration and not a lot of dialogue so I didn’t really feel the chemistry between the two main characters. And I think in attempt it keep the book low angst a lot of the plot didn’t have a chance to develop the way I was waiting for it to.
Gotta admit, Omegaverse isn't really my thing, but I love the name of this series. And then I saw this book - "The Quokka Who Cried Dingo" - and couldn't resist reading it. I mean, quokka shifters? I am here for that.
But then... the book wasn't even set in Australia. The dingo didn't know what quokkas were. I wasn't interested in the setting or the world or the characters or the plot (though the main characters could've been fine in a different setting/world).
I was intrigued by the title but the book just didn't deliver on the idea it suggested.
Wow this story is great! This world was so engaging and interesting. I felt all the emotions throughout the story and I loved all the characters so much! Imri and Sully both really grabbed my heart along with the kids. Their relationship really built throughout the story and they created a deep connection. They had to deal with a lot to be together but it just made them stronger together. I also enjoyed seeing different types of shifters. Quokka and Dingo are not shifters I’ve read before, but I really enjoyed. I highly recommend reading this story!
The Quokka Who Cried Dingo is part of the multi author Heat, Prey, Love series. Each book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the whole series. This is the story of Sully an omega quokka shifter and Imri an alpha dingo shifter. This was a heart warming story. I loved both these guys so much. I loved the side characters and world building that went into the story. I would definitely recommend this book and series.
Despite everything Sully went through as he grew up, he stayed so upbeat and lively! He was all adorable energy. Imri on the other hand was happy being on his own. That is until Sully shows up in his life and keeps on returning! Sully knows he wants and belongs with Imri. We get to know these two separately through a lot of the first chapters, so it is very rewarding to see who they become together in their romance.
Whilst in a section of the woods he shouldn't have been in, Sully is nearly attacked by a dingo. Whilst he escapes the town doesn't believe him. A few years later he is back in the woods and see the dingo again. He goes in search. Sully realizes that the dingo is his fated mate but Imri doesnt want to believe it. Anyway as time goes on, Imri takes on 3 orphans and manages to get Sully pregnant. I enjoyed this story how the 2 of them work out their issues and create a family.
This book was good but it was the slowest of slow burns. I loved Imri and Sully together and really wished we had gotten more of them together. They didn't meet until 30% and Sully didn't know Imri's name until about 70%. I would've loved to see more of Sully with Rowan, Berry and the other kid.
All that said it was a cute story and should be read. It's a good addition to this series. I just wanted more.
HEAT PRAY LOVE is a new Multiple Author Collaboration Series. JAX STUART has brought us Imri a Dingo Shifter and Sulley a Quokka Shifter. The community is a safe haven for shifters but it's not all they think it is. I Absolutely Loved This Book. I enjoy fated mates and overflowing love. This also has a WONDERFUL Epilogue. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND THIS HEAT PRAY LOVE MULTIPLE AUTHOR SERIES!!!!!!!!!!
This book wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. I personally found it hard to get into the setting and it took me awhile to settle into the characters. But Jax Stuart has a way of having her characters win you over and have you invested so I was rooting for Imri and Sully by halfway! It’s an easy read and although I wasn’t sure at the start, I am glad I finished it.
I have always liked stories about unconventional fated mate pairs. Imri and Sully had their work cut out for them, living in a town that was so prejudiced against predator shifters. This was a pleasant read. I love Imri’s family, his moms and his “kids.” You don’t see many books about either dingo or quokka shifters.
I very much enjoyed this stubbornly sweet & slightly infuriating, totally heart-warming romance. Imri made me want to shake him, at times, and hug him & thank him at others. I greatly admired his heart for the kids, and for Sully later. Sully is braver than he ever knew, and probably got a bit of help from Fate a time or two, but eventually, he got his dingo. The town is another matter entirely. I wanted to throttle the lot of them for what happened on several occasions. I'm just glad things worked out. Thoroughly touched my heart with this one. Loved the kids.
I did struggle a little bit in the beginning with this one but I'm glad that I kept going. Sully and Imri's story wound up being a very entertaining read. I appreciated their happily ever after also.
I absolutely loved this story. The characters were awesome and I really enjoyed the found family aspect. These two were completely opposite and technically they never should have worked but I’m so glad that they did.
I liked the premise of the story. It definitely made it interesting. I liked how the story developed as well as getting to know supporting characters. I hope the author revisits this world in future books.
2.5 stars ... this was honestly a slog, but I'm rounding up since I technically finished it and didn't hate the story. It was just that the way it was written was just... SUCH a slog to get through. I ended up skimming a lot, to the point that I'd almost count it as a DNF.
I liked this book. 3.5 for rating, 3 for spice. I felt bad for Sully, he had a rough time just because the town was hiding things. But I’m glad he and his friends were able to make changes. And that he didn’t give up on his mate.
A lovely, sweet story with two main characters that I liked instantly, the very cute witch kids, and just enough Intrigue about the haven town to spark interest. My only complaint is I wanted to stay longer.
No spoilers of any kind included. All I will say about The Quokka Who Cried Dingo is that I really enjoyed reading it and that is all I will say about this book. I most definitely recommend.
