Unlovable is under contract to be made into a movie!!
Unlovable is Sherry's debut novel. It quickly rose to many top seller lists on Amazon. She is pleased to announce that Unlovable is currently being made into a movie. She has added seven more novels to her body of work. Unbelievable and Unbearable are the two followup novels to Unloveable. Not so Easy (her personal favorite), is the poignant story of Max Sanchez who is on a journey to help the struggling JD Miller survive high school. And three exciting novella where Sherry dabbles in the world of fantasy. Loving Marigold, a fun story of a witch living in the backwoods of Sugar Maple, West Virginia. Pete & Tink, a fun, light-hearted novella of a manga-loving geek and and five-and-a-half inch fairy. And finally, Angel in a Black Fedora, a story of an angel and her quest to help others navigate high school. Sherry is also part a collaboration novel titled The Experiment, a dystopian novel of experiments and shift shapers.
Sherry and her husband, along with their children and a couple of crazy dogs, call Upstate New York home. It is where she spends her nights writing instead of sleeping.{:

Booker's story is finally here!

Eek! I am so torn on which book was the best. I just don't know what to say, I had to take a day or two to be able to come back to fully review this book and series. I am going to promote this series on my FB blog, goodreads, Amazon, and of course my Blogger. It is worth the read and please don't miss out on this series. It will stay with you for a very long time. I read Unlovable a couple of years ago and then Unbelievable last Christmas.

"Tess dipped her head, sharing that beautiful smile of hers with the ground. I allowed myself to entertain the idea that maybe she was just shy, and I was overreacting. But I knew I wasn't. Yet, I didn't want to know what was going on with her. I preferred the "ignorance is bliss" philosophy for once. No more chaos. Yea, who was I kidding? I'd be stewing on it, more than I wanted to. So much for the quiet life."

I loved Booker and Tess's story. I already knew that Booker had a very sad and broken past but this book will explain in detail of what happened that day years ago when his family was murdered in front of him. Then, we have Tess who has a very broken past as well and each time I cried when I read what had happened to her. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time during this book. Unlovable will always be my fave but this one is very close to it then Unbelievable. I love Booker, Cole, and Seth and the girls. I so cannot wait for the movie they are making for Unlovable and I hope they will make a movie of all three. That would be fantastic!!

"The guy did have a great smile. Fun personality, sexy smile, and a good heart. Yup, Booker Gato was swoon-worthy."

I really enjoyed this series and glad all the guys found their HEA. I will forever hold this series and carry in my heart for a long time. Thank you Sherry for all you do and cannot wait for more of your writing to be published. I really appreciate how you can find a good YA read full of suspense/thriller/action and hot swooning clean romance! If that is what you are looking for, look no further, this series is for you! Hope you enjoy!

"We stood there, two damaged souls, pouring everything we had into the kiss. A beautiful, mind-blowing kiss."

As always Sherry doesn't disappoint. I have been waiting for Booker's story since her first book "Unlovable". I met Booker in Unlovable and fell in love with him then. And throughout the series, I just kept falling deeper and deeper in love with him. He's has all the qualities I want in a man. He's a hard worker, caring, loving and sensitive.

In Unbearable you will see Booker getting his life together after he quit's MET. He's working in his office and has quite a few clients. He's doing great. But now he's developed a crush on his secretary/office manager Tess. Tess use to work with Cole in the medial field but she's not meant for that. She passes out at the sight of blood. So she's working with Booker now.

Their chemistry is good. It's not sizzling hot but only because Booker has to approach Tess with delicateness because of her past. They had a more mature approach on taking the next step. The horror she goes through with her ex-husband will make you literally cry and want to punch him. In fact, this book dabbles a lot with a very sensitive subject, rape and domestic violence. So I don't recommend this book to anyone who is sensitive to those subjects.

But aside from the horrible rape and domestic violence, I like the way Sherry approached the romance between Booker and Tess. Usually in a lot of today's books, they take sex lightly. Everyone is falling in love by the second chapter and having sex by the third. But in Unbearable, everything is even paced. Booker tries and comfort Tess and shows her how he's not her horrible ex-husband. That he cares and loves her and he'll wait.

A lot goes on in this book that'll have you shaking your head like "Wow". But thank goodness they have their friends there. Seth and Maggie from Unlovable and Cole and Lilah from Unbelievable. With those friends, you'll never go through life's ups and downs alone. I love that you get to read about how their lives is going as well.

I absolutely LOVED this book. But I have been waiting for this book for about two years so I knew I would. Besides Sherry is such a good writer, I knew she was going to knock it out the park. I think Booker is her baby but she's not going to confess to that. I give Unbearable a 5 stars and a DEFINITE Good Choice for Reading.

Sherry did not disappoint, I love it! I am sad the series is over but glad that I can always revisit Port Fair and the gang. with that said.....OH MY GOD!!!!! WAS THIS GOOD. I do have to warn that this book is more intense then the last two, but come on it Booker and I expect nothing less. Booker and Tess' journey to over come their demons together and take their life back from living in fear is heart breaking and beautiful. and the end will throw you for a loop and will have you in tears I know I was and my husband questioned my sanity for minute lol. what I loved the most that Bookers sense of humor and sarcasm was not lost, I fell in love all over with him and Tess did fall behind. I don't want to say to much because i don't want to spoil it. but defiantly going on my favorite list and a MUST READ!

Sherry Gammon has done it again. Both shocked and amazed me. I can’t believe my lazy-ass has still not read ~Unbelievable (#2) ~ I know I’m certifiable since I loved the first book and can happily admit to re-reading it a few times. When I saw the blurb for this book it had my fingers twitching and I needed it like air. And guess who wasn’t disappointed. I was amazed, shocked, disturbed but most of all in love. Something about Sherry’s writing sucks you in and makes the Port Fare world come alive. The characters and their relationships become a personal obsession and unless they are happy you won’t be either. (But have no fear there is a HEA here….) ---- > Excuse that totally unintentional and no less lame rhyme.

Before I even start this review and get into the good stuff I want to apologize ahead of time for all the graphics. Why cats you’re probably wondering. Well they play a very large comical role in this book and I couldn’t deny myself…
description
Fist let me say I loved going back into Port Fare. Not only are the old characters around, they play a large role in Booker’s story. Then again when you’re friends are your family, it’s impossible to get them or keep them out of your life. But with a family including Cole, Lilah, Seth and Maggie I don’t know why you wouldn’t want them. The connection between the group is really faceted and strong. Years of harsh realities and hard living have toughened the members of the group but everyone is nothing but grateful. Well maybe not Booker who is a hard nut to crack. Booker has a lot of self-realization to go through and Tess may just be the one to lift the rock he’s been hiding under. Poor Booker has been living under a rock and spends more time working out than making out. A rarity from our usual man-whores (thank-you Sherry), but he uses all that extra time bulking up. Let’s just say this boy has a lot of built up tension that he needs to let out and Tess is one lucky girl.
description
Literally from the start the story will grab your attention. I mean Booker has to fulfill a bet in a dress, can we say laugh out loud funny and a great lead in. There is no insta-love here but there is insta-like. Tess can recognize how hot Booker is, so could a blind woman. Booker has an amazing personality to boot. He is that good guy saving kittens in trees and carrying old women’s groceries all while cracking a joke and internally groaning. Tess, with her obvious and awkward disguise appreciates all this but she’s still dealing with a rough past so dating is not on her schedule not when she’s trying to remain hidden. Booker has a tough road ahead if he is going to convince Tess to give him a chance then again Booker prefers to live a life less eventful and Tess and her secrets are a explosion waiting to happen.
description
With neither of them wanting to be in a relationship or expecting to be in one, their love story, once it began, was a painful road to happiness since the past never seems to stay dead. I usually am able to predict plot points and details when I am reading. Sure the obvious signs were all there in certain scenes but I am happy to say that things didn’t always go expected. Surely not in regards to Tess’s past which came back with a horrible hold no punches fury.
description
Sherry’s writing style is really unique in that I felt each sentence and word mattered. Nothing was overcrowded or boggled down but carried just enough detail to suck you in and allow you to visualize her world. If there were spelling and grammar mistakes I honestly couldn’t say since I was too into everything that was happening.
description
Even if you’ve never read any of the Port Fare books Unbearable is a beautiful love story filled with love, anguish and pain, family, suffering and so much more I could go on all day. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but I really do suggest starting in the beginning. Seth and Maggie grew on me and I loved seeing them again, especially Maggie who constantly badgers Booker. My stomach was actually hurting from laughing so hard at times and I witnessing the camaraderie between Booker and Maggie was like two little kids fighting over a stick in the mud. There was no point to it, but neither will admit defeat. Comical and Beautiful wrapped in a bow. I definitely recommend reading this book. Those with tendencies to lean away from the harsher topics like abuse and rape should steer clear otherwise prepare yourself for another piece Port Fair to consume your life, you’ll do nothing but sit back and enjoy! Promise…
description
On a side note the epilogue was EPIC and takes place ten years later. And Damn Sherry for almost giving me a heart attack in the end, until I realized she is just a tricky mind-f*ck of a lady and an excellent writer. The end of the book had me at the edge of my seat, I won’t say more but make sure you are NOT on your lunch break when your finishing the last few chapters. I almost had to fake an illness just to finish and get to the bottom of things. In the end, Sherry you are a magical genius but I still am made you almost played me like that, not to mention left me mildly heartbroken and scared!!! Can’t wait for more.

Unbearable (Port Fare, 3) by Sherry Gammon
4 stars!!

“My love life was nothing more than a series of unfortunate events – unfortunate, lousy, pathetic events. Was I that much of a loser?”

This is the book that we lovers of the Port Fare series have been waiting for, finally it was “Booker Time” and it didn’t disappoint. I fell in love with all the characters of this series in Unlovable (Book One) and while that book remains my favourite of this series, this one comes a close second.

Booker has been one of the main characters throughout this series, his loyalty to his friend’s just one of his many admirable traits and this never wavers in this instalment, if anything it intensifies. We know that his past is more like a horror story, yet despite everything he has been through, he has come through it, despite the flash backs, the panic attacks and the nightmares, Booker will always be Booker. His limits though are truly tested in this instalment; will he be strong enough to come out the other side? Will his past interfere with his future; can he really move on from the atrocities that he has already endured or will they be the one thing that forever holds him back? Can he love and be loved? Will this be just what he needs?

In book one we were treated to Maggie and Seth’s story, book two was Cole and Lilah’s and now is the turn of Booker and Tess. You may remember Tess, she was the woman working at the hospital that always fainted when she saw blood…she has good reason. Like Booker her past is tainted, she has been through A LOT, her past is fed to us slowly throughout the book as flash backs, painful reminders of the past that she left behind, the woman she left behind and she tries valiantly to be the woman that she wants to be throughout this book. What she had endured in her past was truly awful and one that will have permanent reminders for the rest of her life. I would love to say what I think but you need to read the story; all I can say is karma is a bitch.

Tess originally comes across as this meek, timid, petrified woman, who is scared of her own shadow. Slowly throughout this book with all the gangs’ help we slowly see Tess change to the woman she once was. She will always have the scars and the nightmares, but slowly but surely you finally see her try to take charge of her life and that is not always easy when after four years her past unfortunately finally catches up with her.

“No more pain. No more Garen.”

Tess’s past has a big impact on her and Booker’s future, together though these two are formidable. Tess truly does seem to be Booker’s ideal woman, you remember all the little snippets he would eke out in the banter with Seth, Cole and Maggie, well Tess ticks all the boxes. Red head…check…Blood Group (yes I did say blood group)…check…love of all shiny guns…check…just a few weird and wonderful criteria Booker had set. Together they stand, but will it be united they fall?

“It felt like I was watching a movie. A horrible, sick movie and I desperately wanted it to end. But it’d only just begun.”

I love that we continue the stories of Seth and Maggie and Cole and Lilah, they are still very much a part of this story and it is wonderful to see how their relationships progress, but the centre of attention is Booker and Tess.

“Loving Booker was an incurable disease.”

Sherry Gammon has tackled some tough subjects in this book, not only are they written sensitively but they are so realistic. At times they were disturbing but this was heightened because throughout the book I had built a deep connection to the characters, their pain becomes your pain, they live it, you live it, it is that emotional connection that makes you feel and boy did I feel it. I will say Sherry also shows us her twisted side towards the end of the book, there was one part I had to read and re-read to make sure I had read right, then after I had digested, I couldn’t read on for a while, I sat there deciding if she would really “go there” then after I decided that I must have been mistaken, I re-read again, yep I had read right…at this point, Sherry was not my favourite person, I may have said a few curse words, well maybe A LOT, yes Booker’s curse jar got a helping hand…finally having the courage to read on I semi forgave her…you will know when you get there…all I can say is CRUEL Sherry, very, very CRUEL!! Ha ha ha.

Sherry Gammon has taken us on an amazing journey with this series, one that I am sad to see the end of. Her writing while emotional always conveys the perfect balance of angst and romance, while littered with humour that will have you laughing out loud. While the steam factor is low this is easily made up by the emotion. The connection that these characters have is brilliantly portrayed through love, affection and words. You cannot help but fall in love with all of them.

I cannot wait to see what comes next from this author; this is one series that I will remember for a very long time. I cannot believe I have to say goodbye, but at least it was all wrapped up nicely for all three couples…sniff…sniff.

Book Review: Unbearable by Sherry Gammon

Title: Unbearable
Port Fare Series #3
Author: Sherry Gammon
ebook; 1,313 pages
Published June 9, 2014 by Wordpaintings Unlimited and CPP

Amazon: $3.99
Barnes and Noble: $3.99

I have read first book by Sherry Gammon called Unlovable, but for some reason I do not remember reading the second book in the series, Unbelievable. So, I will be adding that to my reading list after finishing this review. :)

I highly recommend reading this book as it touches on a few subjects generally kept in the dark - domestic violence, rape, cheating and how to cope with them. Gammon brings these subjects up so well, in all her books, that you do not even realize she is describing a whole new world until it comes crashing down on the reader and we are forced to ride it out because it is impossible to put the book down. Gammon weaves these tales so intricately that it feels like the reader is living the book.

Gammon creates, introduces and develops characters like Tess that are completely wrecked and trying to survive. Women that I root for at the same time I want to protect. She writes strong, yet vulnerable heroes like Booker who do such a wonderful job of being realistic. Honestly though, my favorite characters ended up being Booker's family because they played such a large role in the story. As family is usually in the middle of your relationship.

Even though she covers unhappy topics, the plot is still light enough to be read on vacation or during a work break.

Sherry Gammon also follows up with Maggie, the young woman who was raising her alcoholic mother in the first book in the series, whom I absolutely love.

Summary - Booker Gatto is done. Done with women, his old life, all of it. Only the love of his friends in Port Fare keeps him going as he leaves the MET in exchange for the quiet life his new law practice will provide.

Tess Selleck, once as ambitious and determined as she is smart and beautiful, had to leave everything and everyone she loves in San Diego to escape the man who destroyed her dreams and now wants her dead.
Together Booker and Tess find love when they least expect it, until their pasts drive them apart. Is there a happily ever after for these damaged lovers? Or is the thought of loving and trusting again simply Unbearable?

Unbearable is the exciting conclusion to the Port Fare Series. Join Booker as he struggles to find his happily ever after.

Sherry Gammon is brilliant, I mean it, she has taken such amazing characters and forever left their amazing stories embedded in my heart an soul. I haven't read such an amazing series that was full of love, thrill, excitement and sadness all in one. This is a series filled with love, fight and pure strength, it was lighter in the romance category for me but I enjoyed every minute of it. The build up in each book was exciting and intense, you weren't 100% sure of which way she would go. Each story can be read as a stand alone but you get something from each book that you need to read them all. I fell in love with Seth, Cole and Booker in Unlovable (Book #1). Each leading lady is special and amazing like the men, she knows her characters and they SHINE!!!

Booker's (Unbearable Book #3) story blew the roof off for me. I feel in love with him in book one, his story and journey just makes you ache , hurt and fall in love with him. This man has seen, felt and went through so much heart ache and sadness. When Tess walks into his life, he isn't real sure of her and he notices that she is disguised. She too has secrets she is hiding and hiding from evil that has plagued her life. These two were so meant to meet. Their journey was amazing to watch unfold and scary at times too. This book scared the crap out of me. It was so intense that I had to walk away and go calm down. I wanted to yell at a certain EVIL ONE, and do some very BAD things to him too!!! Sherry knows how to right a bad guy that is for sure.

I hope you give this series a try, it is DEFINITELY worth the time. I was introduced to this book by chance while I was browsing on Amazon a year or so ago. I was amazed by the story and writing. Sherry you did an amazing job and I couldn't be more happy with how everything came together for all of these characters. I'm a little sad that the journey is over, but beaming I was apart of the ride. My heart will forever remember this series! Sherry pulls on all your heart strings so be prepared to be thrown off course a few times with some tissue handy!!!

I’m so excited that this trilogy has a finale and that Booker gets his turn at romance. Booker has been my favourite character the whole series, and this book makes me very happy. It’s filled with humour and love and adventure. Everything I wanted for a finale.

This was a sweet read. Even though reading about Tess’ past was heartbreaking, her continual urge to be comfortable with herself and her present was very rewarding. Booker was such a strong supporter of Tess that it was impossible not to love them separately and together.

Each of the couples from the previous books were very present in the story, and it was nice to see how their relationships have evolved since their stories. I still find Seth and Maggie to be overly sweet, but Cole and Lilah are adorable.

The book ends with an epilogue that is like a treat for fans of the series. I loved the glimpse into the future of the characters. It was a great way to wrap up the series and satisfy any lingering questions I might have. I loved the series overall, and between finally getting Booker’s story, and having a years later eiplogue, this is my favourite book of the series.

Excellent book, I loved Booker and Tess's Story...they both went through a lot of pain but in the end it showed that no matter how bad problems can get, LOVE prevails. I was overjoyed for Seth and Maggie and very happy for Cole and Lilah. I was happy to read about their children. I'm sorry that the series is over. I'll have to read all three again and again, that's how great of a story they are. Can't wait to see the movie about the first book, Unlovable...Looking forward to seeing it come alive on screen.

Loved this book. Loved Booker in all the books and this one just tipped me over the edge.
I saw the little mind game Sherry Gammon used at the end of the book regarding Maggie and I swear I stopped breathing for a moment there. LOL.
Sneaky Sherry! Great Read!

I really liked this story - no, I liked the whole series. I'm a sucker for fairytale endings and this one had it all, except for the little tragedy for Maggie and Seth. I suppose that was an attempt to make the story a little LESS unrealistic. I suppose it needed it because, seriously, how is it that ALL three best friends just HAPPEN to be drop dead gorgeous and have great personalities AND morals? And the women they marry are ALL pretty, witty and fit their tastes PERFECTLY?
But as I said, I loved the ending and the journey . . . not the horrible things that happened to Tess, mind you, but the good stuff. ;)
Oh, and another thing I loved about the whole series was that it was so CLEAN - unless you consider making out to be unclean, this series was a innocent as it gets (these days it's hard to find a book without disgusting scenes and what-have-you). Sherry heartily encouraged the no-sex-before-marriage view as well as swearing. She even considered 'hell' as a swear word!
And the characters. I liked how the characters sounded different in each book - well, the girls, anyway. Lilah was my favourite; I admire her boldness and confidence. BUT there were some phrases and thoughts that repeated over the series, mainly in the guy's point of view. Their way of thinking just seemed the same for all three.
And the quips and interactions between the characters had me laughing non-stop. My favourite was in the second book:
"“His name should be lazy butt, not Anderson,” I complained.
“Lilah, that's not very nice. He is a doctor and deserves some respect,” she said, straight-faced. “We should call him
Dr. Lazy Butt.”" I honestly could not stop laughing.
Oh and this one from the first:
"“Make sure she can handle a gun, please.”
I whacked him on the arm.
“Hmm, did a butterfly just land on me?”"

I have decided that Maggie is another favourite character, with the cat jokes and funny quips, she kept me laughing most of the time.
One thing I have to complain about: I just about had A HEART ATTACK after reading the last chapter before the epilogue. WHAT WAS SHE TRYING TO DO TO ME!?! I thought the happy ending was RUINED! Then the epilogue just confused me until it got through my thick skull that it was their daughter who died. I mean, it WAS really sad but I was relieved that it wasn't the person I thought it was. Mwahaha, now whoever reads this and hasn't read the book will HAVE to read it. :D ENJOY!

Unbearable is the third novel in the Port Fare series, this time following Booker and Tess. Booker finds himself drawn to the woman at the hospital who seems afraid of her own shadow and who will faint whenever she sees blood. Finally deciding that the hospital was too much for her, she got a new job working as Booker's secretary. They grow closer and closer until their haunted pasts come back to drive them apart.

This was my favorite book in the Port Fare series; I couldn't put it down. I loved Booker and I loved Tess. They were absolutely perfect for each other and I was rooting for them from the beginning. Booker had been cheated on and used by his ex-wife, while Tess' ex-husband repeatedly physically and emotionally abused her. Now, Tess is in hiding, after leaving her family behind, so she wouldn't have to encounter Garen again.

One thing that bothered me was that Tess was the PERFECT woman for Booker, down to the T. Booker said she had to be AB negative, and what was she? AB Negative. It's NOT common for you to be that picky and find someone. A lot of people end up alone because they're so picky when it comes to a man/woman. You should be picky when it comes to finding the right person, but don't make it impossible. Look for similar interests, beliefs, good character, etc. But blood type? Probably not.

I loved the flash backs to when Tess was with Garen. It was heartbreaking, but it kept me reading. I was waiting for her to stick up for herself and leave him. He's a real abusive prick and whenever something wasn't orderly enough for him, he'd hit her, or mentally annihilate her. She gets a B- in class, and he diminishes her self-esteem. He's basically the exact opposite of Booker.

Domestic abuse is a very serious issue and I feel Sherry Gammon handled it respectfully, and I think, unfortunately, realistically. Garen is controlling and will blame his rage on stress, but then after his episode, he'd apologize. While, I've never been in a abusive relationship or seen anyone in one, I believe this is a realistic adaption of what a really controlling person can do.

We get to see more of Maggie and Seth, and Lilah and Cole, in this story, but it's not an overload. They are open and loving to Tess, who has become socially awkward from fear of her ex.

Unbearable by Sherry Gammon

Four and a half stars
****

I got a little bit behind on this series. I read the first one Unlovable a few weeks after it came out and of course fell in love with Maggie and Seth. It took me a while to find out more about this author and when I found her, I learned she had two more out!

Onto the actual review...

I had been wondering about Booker when I read Unlovable. He was one of those characters that I couldn't wait to read about. Intrigue, mystery and hilarity made me want his story even more!

Booker is one of those characters. You know, the one always around to help and give advice but offer a reprieve in silly teasing. He's brave, strong and will fight anybody who even steps threateningly to one of his friends. Plus, he's hot. *Shrugs none apologetically*

We learn more about his past and although we hear about in both books, its told with more clarity in this one (duh!). I have to say, his is a pretty good story but I felt for Tess even more.

Poor, poor girl. We learn in the second book that she faints at the site of blood. Well, in this book, we figure out its all for a good reason. Her past was saddening. I've read a lot of books with this kind of situation-all hard to read about-and find each one different despite the similarities. I don't want to give too much away!

I loved the back and forth we get from Tess. We see her past and her present and how she's changing, growing as she relaxes around her new friends.

I also loved how we saw the past characters lives as they too grow. It was all so cute to read about and left me feeling extremely happy and content.

Now, there was one part that had me twisting up. I had to re-read the lines two-no!-three times! I could barely breathe, I had to set my Kindle down. Alas, I had to finish the story and I'm glad I did. Points to you Sherry for nearly giving me a heart attack ;)

All in all, this story was amazing, just like her last two. It was nice to see it all conclude so well.

Sherry Gammon könyvei engem mindig meglepnek. :D Most is teljesen más sztorit kreáltam fejben Tess köré, és eszembe se jutott elolvasni a fülszöveget. :D

This was an amazing, heart-wrenching, inspiring conclusion to the Port Fare Series following the lives of 3 friends. This is Booker Gatto’s story, one of my all-time favorite characters. He’s endured his share of tragedies in his life, and has sworn off women. He has an impossible list of requirements of what ‘his’ perfect woman must have…but when he employs Tess as his new secretary, she miraculously fits the bill. Tess’s character has been through horrific domestic abuse with her ex-husband, Garen, who’s a huge slime ball. Her story broke my heart. I couldn’t stop reading this and wasn’t disappointed by Booker’s and Tess’s love story…rather I felt it was one of the best I’ve read. Bravo to this author for writing characters I’ve totally fallen in love with. These characters would make the most fun, cool friends in real life.

I love the cover, and the series. I enjoyed seeing Booker and Tess get together...finally. Unbearable just felt a bit darker than the other two books. One of the things I've loved about the Port Faire Series is that Sherry Gammon manages to take dark subjects (emotional abuse, drug abuse) and still write an upbeat story. In this case, the theme of spouse abuse was the hardest to read. I really felt Tess' pain, and that was something I would never wish upon anyone. While the story was still well written, it's not something I want to reread. My favorite in the series is Unbelievable.

This book is so well-written. It is really the story of Booker and Tess… and their story is very well told.

While the first two books of the series do feature couples, the women’s stories/backstories are the ones that are more raw and exposed. In writing Unbearable, Gammon reveals the brutal, ugly pasts of both Booker and Tess. It is easy to see how those pasts pull them together and still push them apart. Their emotional journeys are quite compelling.

Creating a very palpable sensation of ‘waiting for the other shoe to drop’ is another thing that Gammon does well. Once she sets the stage, she makes it impossible to put the book down. 5 stars

I have really enjoyed the Port Fare Series.

That's what I'm talking about! As much as I disliked the first book and Booker himself, I loved this book and grew to love him and the others as well. Of course it's still silly and unbelievably cute but it's nice to read something like this sometimes. The characters were a little bit more layered in this one, the current problem (domestic abuse) was much more believable than the drog business. And Tess was not just okay but a good character - and I'm not the fan of female characters.
So... I liked it. Still not perfect but the best part of the series.

So I don't want to ruin the book but the epilogue almost killed me. Thank you for quickly resuscitating me. Another awesome book.
