After integrating Kimiko and her forces into Merideva's, Gabriel wasted no time in preparing their growing Domain for war. The undead threat now serves at his command, but a greater danger remains. The Swarm Queen dominates much of the dungeon, seeming unassailable behind hordes of insectoid monstrosities.
Yet Gabriel is relentless in pursuit of his to restore his fallen bonded and to crush Vesrah's Swarm before the sinister darkness she seeded in his soul claims him.
Two months of planning and training have set the stage for the first true battle against the Realm-devouring threat.
Gabriel's magic and swordsmanship continue to grow under skilled tutelage, and his beloved bonded are all powerful, dangerous women.
But even with an army of conjured monsters, can they defeat the Swarm before Vesrah grows impatient and surges forth to devour the world?
Right of the bat, this series never shys away from reminding you just how brutal it is. I loved almost everything about this book and it's by far the best instalment so far.
The characters themselves are great. With my favourite fully returned with Reyna, we finally see her fully accepted and integrated so well into the group, her foul mouth humor somehow didn't feel excessive.
Non of his bonded seems left out, everyone gets spotlight and that's a massive achievement for a harem story, specifically the handling of kimiko and sthuzas dynamic. Cindra ofc is always her loveable self, but it's seen clearly that she is more than just the literal horndog, she may not be the smartest but she's probably the most socially aware.
Lastly we have the finally 25% of the book leading to the ending. I won't spoil but s*** goes from zero to 100. Between around the middle half of the last quarter of the book I think I know the author was talking about a brutal cliff hanger and THANK GOD if its where I think it would have been, thank you for not sticking to it. The renewed ending is solid and thankly isn't a cliffhanger but you know things are getting very series. I can't wait for the next one.
This was another outstanding book in this series, and quite long. I'm not a fan of the "dungeon core" trope, but this has been a fantastic example of what can be done right with it.
The MC finishes up his quest to restore is deceased lycan lover, and we finally get her sarcasm out of exclusively being in his head, so she can snark where the rest of the group can hear. The hellhound's antics continue to astound with hilarious moments. Her unbridled enthusiasm is contagious, and she's a driving factor in this series being so much fun to read.
As the book moves on, it gets a little dark with things the MC has to go through. The series' ultimate big bad is influencing him more than they'd like, and has become a constant source of concern. This has all built up to a wonderful cluster-bleep the MC must deal with. And while the book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, it's not an obnoxious one.
It's a real joy to see another installment of this fantastic series show up so soon after the last.
As usual, this is another exciting book, full of sexy monstergirls, evil villains, powerful spell casters and savage fights, interspersed with touching moments.
The characters continue to grow at a pace that leads to a pleasant experience for readers. There are enough twists and turns to keep me excited. Can't wait for the next book in the series!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and engaging. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series are definitely worth checking out.
Such an awesome series, Cindra might be a bit much at times, only thing that might be helpful would be maybe a brief character list with so many, especially if the series is going longer then 1 or 2 books. Can’t wait for the next one
