Having been kidnapped by his mother at age ten and left to die in a fire, billionaire lawyer Ares Huxley trusts no one. But he needs a wife to get a critical promotion at his law firm, and wakes up the morning after a friend’s bachelor party to find that he’s somehow married to an eccentric blonde he doesn’t even remember meeting!
He immediately plans to annul, but it turns out she needs a husband to receive her inheritance. They have nothing in common, but if he plays along, she promises to be his dream wife.
The rules are simple: Share the marital bed every night, no real feelings, and the marriage ends in six months when they both have what they want.
But living with this accidental wife doesn’t produce the respectfully indifferent marriage he envisioned. Despite her innocence, she’s feisty both in and out of bed. His family adores her, and when he learns that her family treats her badly, he finds himself wanting to protect her. And maybe more.
Ares can’t stop thinking about his unexpectedly adorable, irresistible, and wonderful fake wife. But despite his evolving intentions—and emotions—she abides by their fake marriage rules a little too well.
Ares realizes the one thing his wife wants from him is the one thing he can no longer do: Let her go.
The Accidental Marriage is a standalone romance. If you love:
* fake marriage * forced proximity * he falls first * he falls harder * a scarred hero (and wait til you see just how scarred...) * an unexpected virgin * a runaway bride * amnesia / mistaken identity * soulmates * a protector * a found family
Bilingual former management consultant Nadia Lee has lived in four different countries and enjoyed many adventures and excellent food around the globe. In the last eight years, she has kissed stingrays, got bitten by a shark, and petted tigers.
She shares an apartment overlooking a river and palm trees in Japan with her husband, winter white hamsters and an ever-widening pile of books. When she's not writing, she can be found digging through old Asian historical texts or planning another trip.
I blame the inner teenager in me who thrived on telenovelas, and the adult in me who loves Kdramas, for making me stick with this book until the end. Honestly, it felt like one big soap opera. And what gives, you ask? The poisonings especially the "love potion", the classic "she's right in front of you but you can't see her" trope, the random country that lowkey still treats women like it’s the 1800's... Every time I thought it couldn’t get any more cringe or clichè, it absolutely did!
My only swoony moments were when he’d take a bite of each food item on his plate and then pass it to her, so she wouldn’t have to worry if her food was poisoned (I know it’s a trauma response, but it was so cute!)
On top of it all, the story was so disjointed that the plotlines kept shifting without any explanation of how or why, leaving so many plot holes. By the end, I was just relieved to finally be done.
I think my rating is more about Lareina (29) than the story itself. 😅 I had a great time with her, and I really loved her character. I’m not saying Ares (32) is bad or anything; it’s just that I liked her more than him.
Ngl, there’s a lot going on in this story! It wasn’t completely all over the place, as I could still keep up with it, but readers are certainly thrown into a world where events happen on both sides of the characters. It wasn't overwhelming, but it did distract me from time to time since I'm not sure what the main focus was supposed to be.
As I mentioned, a lot has gone on here. As the MCs explored their budding relationship, they were also dealing with their greedy and selfish family members who were always looking to take advantage of them.
When it comes to family stuff, they both had pretty complicated backgrounds. Ares' mom was quite a character, and Lareina's aunt and cousin? They were on a whole other level of wild.
I'm just glad that Ares' dad's side is so supportive and welcoming to Lareina. Before, she was all alone, but once she got married, she suddenly had a family that would always have her back and look out for her.
As for the romance, it was attraction at first sight. If readers aren't into insta-something, I doubt they'll enjoy it, but I like insta-love, so it's all good for me. Even though they've only known each other for a few days, they're already experiencing feelings they've never felt before. The chemistry was there, and I liked how they didn't play a push-pull game. They acknowledged their mutual attraction and didn't hesitate to explore it. 🤭
Lareina is definitely the highlight of this book (for me). I liked her honesty and eccentric personality. And I really admire how she stood up to her toxic family in her own way and didn't let them take over her life completely. It's pretty amazing that after everything she's been through, she still manages to be such a good person and hasn't let her past dictate her future. I was sooo happy when she finally got away from them.
Also, I had fun with her really complying with the "respectful indifference" thing Ares imposed at the start of their marriage. While he was falling fast and hard for her, she was still holding her ground about not being too clingy to him. 😂 It was hilarious watching him get all worked up because she didn't show any jealousy or possessiveness. If only he knew how she really felt.
I really liked Ares; he wasn't a jerk at all. He was protective, helpful, and had his own kind of jealousy going on. I thought it was cool that he noticed right away what Lareina's issue was with food. I think it's swoonworthy when guys just get what their partners want and need without them even having to say anything. I dunno, I guess it just means they're actually paying attention to them. 🤭
I also like that he's not a hoe. 😂 He mentioned he only had four girlfriends, but honestly, I could do without hearing about them every other chapter. I totally get that what you had with them isn't the same as what you have with your wife. But I really don’t need to keep reading that again and again.
Anyway, my review is freaking long, again. I'm going to stop here. But overall, I had a good time with this book, and again, that's mainly because of the FMC. I really loved strong-headed heroines, and I love it even more when they find men who are supportive of what they do and love. I think it's worth reading, and to each their own as always.
Book info: - Billionaire x Billionaire (she's richer tho) 🤭 - Vegas wedding - Kidnapping - Loss of loved one (past) - Poisoning - Body scarring - Nightmares - Instant attraction - Physical assault - Found family - No cheating, OM/OW, separation - V FMC, No info on MMC - HEA (still married)
Notes: - OW. Not really. Ares' ex showed up a few times claiming she's pregnant with his baby, but that was a lie. She even came to their house to tell Lareina of her "pregnancy," but she wasn't bothered by her at all. Yaas, Queen! Anyway, she was just gone out of the story, and idk what happened to her. He didn't love her and wasn't interested in rekindling anything with her. Also, she cheated on him. Not sure though how long they've been broken up. - OM. Not really. Lareina's lawyer friend, Ethan, is Ares's rival at a different firm. She didn't know that they knew each other when she hired him. Anyway, they had meetings to sort out her legal matters, and Ares crashed those meetings every time. I mean, he's possessive and jealous that she hired him. 😂 - I normally avoid books with virgin heroines, but this time I did understand why that's the case here. When her parents died (murdered), her nasty aunt took her guardianship because of her inheritance. She was literally their hostage up until the present time. They had been slowly poisoning her since she was 13, kept drugging her to make her compliant, and they hired guards to keep her in line. They wanted to marry her off to her stepcousin in order to gain control of her money. That's why they flew her to Vegas to elope, but she finally escaped them.

“The Accidental Marriage” is the story of Lareins and Ares.
So the hero was rescued as a child by a friend and has searched all his life for the woman she would be. He meets the heroine by accident, both are running away from a terrible situation and drugged. Enter a marriage arrangement for mutual benefit, and immediately decide to consummate it.
I mean the plot was interesting but it was.. disjointed. The story was too predictable, everyone was too naive and dramatic, the villains were OTT evil, the sex was cheesy, the dialogue was pedantic. I really struggled with the book.
I gobbled this up, but I enjoy a very soapy plot. It wasn’t very angsty because both mc’s were pretty mature and didn’t jump to conclusions, so there wasn’t a ton of prolonged misunderstandings. (beyond them not discussing their true feelings but they didn’t really fight or stew about that)
I LOVED Lareina. She was such a cool character. I say all the time that authors struggle to write capable, intelligent female leads that don’t have to be “sassy” or “feisty” which always translates (for me) as bitchy. We can be strong AND vulnerable/compassionate AND not let people walk all over us while still being nice and mature. Chicks are complex and cool like that. :) And Lareina encompassed them all. She was smart, resilient, understanding, strong, a survivor, patient, loving, protective… I can’t think of one bad thing to say about her.
Ares wasn’t bad either. He started out a smidge reluctant and cold, but I’d say he fell first, and he had several opportunities to jump to the wrong conclusion and cause unnecessary drama, and he had faith in his wife.
You'll really need to enjoy a soapy/not super realistic plot (and some holes) because there're things that will require just "going with it". For example, within the first 12% you’ll have to accept...
At times it felt a little telenovela-esque with their OTT evil families, but they weren’t around a ton, so there were down times. My main complaint was that 350+ pages is a lot for a soapy plot (IMHO) and much of the middle was low drama and started to drag.
Bottom Line- I enjoyed it. I stayed up late to finish it, but I doubt I will continue the series. The next book is set up for Bryson and a desperate lost love. I’m not sure if the random blond with the burn mark was thrown in as a teaser for Josh or not.
Marriage of convenience, billionaire romance. Honesty these are usually my guilt pleasure reads - I love the drama. But I didn’t love this book. It was just missing something. Like I wasn’t rooting for either character, and I thought the chemistry was a little mediocre. And I wanted more angst and drama, and I felt it was kinda meh.
Lareina has been controlled by her aunt and uncle for years in order for them to control and steal her massive inheritance. Their newest scheme is dragging her to Vegas to marry her step-cousin against her will so he can take her inheritance. While in Vegas she has a rare opportunity to escape, right into the arms of Ares. A cold billionaire lawyer who is stuck chasing a ghost of a memory/saviour from when he was a child. Ares is a workaholic, fighting for a promotion in his family’s law firm, that they won’t give him until he marries. So through an obscure and random amount of circumstances, they decide to enter into a marriage of convenience to keep Lareina safe, and for Ares to get his promotion. But with more than just Lareina’s family after them, they will face many obstacles and dangers.
fmc made this book 4 star even 5 if i was more generous, i need more NONCHALANT fmcs, she didn't even stay in the lines he drew out of spite or to make him mad, diva
he quote unquote drew lines while getting married saying this is not real, i am going to do these when i get married for real.
small ow drama, his ex gf got around saying she was pregnant with his baby, but he said it's impossible so we don't know he actually slept with her or not virgin fmc, i don't think he is v but no manwhore his past isn't heavily discussed just that he had 3-4 gfs he never did anything serious with them
Who wrote this? A teenager?? The plot had too many clichés and holes. The writing felt juvenile at most, some parts read as a bad translation. Absolutely no idea why I read it till the end… or maybe I do, it’s my fascination with k-dramas that kept me hopeful for something similar.
I don’t like leaving bad reviews, honestly I never leave a review if it’s not for a book I absolutely loved/enjoyed reading or if it is a horrible read (like this one). But this is just poor writing and storytelling. Felt like the author wrote it in a different language, had AI translation and threw every single sappy plot line you can think of but forgot to write them in a consistent and coherent way.
***Spoiler**** What happened to the other blonde girl, the employee with the croaking voice and burn scar? It seems pointless to add her character to the plot, hint at her being some sort of obstacle to the MMC&FMC’s love story, or has any impact at all, and then completely forget about her existence. Same with the mother, Zoe… what happened with her storyline?!?!? It felt like the writer started on one storyline but then forgot what she was writing about and just jumped to the next scene. No transition or explanation, throughout the whole book.

Anlaşma 6 ay ve sonra ikiside boşanacak. Ama hesaba katmadıkları çok önemli birşey var birbirlerine aşık olmak.
Lareina ve Ares'in hikayelerine bayıldım.
Beautiful. Broken. Believable. This story is inspiring. While it's harrowing in parts, it conveys such an important message, that healing IS possible. It is not sugary sweet, it does not hide the dark shadows, and it isn't going to pretend that everything is magically fixed. You will truly fall in love with these wonderful characters and definitely enjoy their story. Lareina & Ares are genuine and their emotions are real, absolutely loved their connection. You will experience a rollercoaster of emotions while reading this book. I absolutely loved this fake marriage, billionaire romance. This is a MUST READ...don’t hesitate, just head on over and one-click this book now!!
Emma Wilder & Ryan West are remarkable bringing the characters to life. They do more than giving their characters their voices, they fall into the roles giving us all of the emotions with the perfect inflections.
ARC Read: 3/29/25-3/30/25 Listened: on Audible: 4/3/25
The characters are over the top, though the main characters were really likeable and easy to root for.
There was so many times honest communication would solved everything but main characters due to their separate pasts are so dis-trustful of others and do not confide easily.
Full of action and way too many villains this book keeps you enthralled from beginning to end.
I was confused through 99% of this book to be honest. It's my first from this author. It read like it should be a short novella, but then add like 25 chapters of filler. There was so many things that made no sense and never got resolved. So many confusing storyline at once. The uncle from the beginning? Not shown again. Everyone being drugged left and right. Neither of the MCs remember/recognize each other somehow? I was just so confused 🤣
It wasn't bad, but too long, too much nonsense filler and to many unresolved issues and "Insta-love" moments to seem believable.
I honestly can’t believe i finished this book. It started out promising but then just turned into confusing mumbo jumbo. There is so much miscommunication and just stupidity in this book I’m just like over it. Like GIRL BE CONSISTENT! What’s with this stupid back and forth??? Pissed me AWFFF
It was so damn slow, the story was too much of a soup opera, and don’t get me wrong I love a telenovela, but this was too much drama without any real reason. I have regrets…
"Probably a punishment for seducing who knows what." "Wasn't I eight?" "So? Lolita was the same age!" "Like in the book? She was twelve-" "Shut up, bitch!"
Thank you so much Give Me Books PR for sending me this ARC!
The Accidental Marriage is a standalone Contemporary Romance book and, as always, Nadia didn’t disappoint, I absolutely loved Ares and Lareina’s story!
Ares needs a wife to secure a promotion in his family’s law firm and Lareina needs to get married to keep her inheritance out of her awful family’s hands. When they meet in Vegas in the most unlikely circumstances, they realize they might be an answer to each other’s problem but the more time they spend together, the more their fake marriage starts to feel real.
I love the marriage of convenience trope in books so much and Nadia always writes them in the most amazing way that has me hooked and this one was no exception. Ares and Lareina were an incredible couple, I loved how she was fighting for her independence and how Ares respected that while also being really protective of her. They were perfect for each other and I loved seeing them slowly come to terms with their growing feelings and how despite their initial denial, they quickly were head over heels for each other. They both didn’t have an easy childhood and had some trauma but they were so strong and it was beautiful to see them slowly healing together and supporting each other, I loved them together so much, their conversations, seeing them be vulnerable with each other, the spicy scenes and of course all the „my wife’ moments and Ares being jealous. I also really liked members of Ares’s family and hope we will get Bryce and Josh’s stories soon.
The Accidental Marriage is a really great romance book with so many of my favorite tropes, amazing characters and beautiful romance, I loved this book and already can’t wait for Nadia’s next one!
Could the mystery behind queen been resolved much earlier? Yes it could have. It was so annoying because it was so obvious who it was. Her name and everything literally was THE QUEEN in Spanish. It drove me nuts. It did feel vindicating though how it came out. I love how Lareina got revenge on everyone who harmed her. Shes so brave. Ares is dumb and an idiot, but it works for him. I love them together and they are the perfect match. With both of their trauma and stories being completely intertwined, they make for the perfect love story.
what in the short drama reels did i just read? the plotlines were cringey and oftentimes borderline stupid but i can’t stop reading. this book was annoyingly addictive 😭
2.5 ⭐️ This one just didn’t work for me. The story had potential, but it ended up being way too cringe in a lot of parts. The "queen" scenes felt over-the-top dramatic and not in a fun way—it kind of pulled me out of the story. I really wanted to like it more, but I just couldn’t connect. Hoping the next book in The Huxleys series turns things around! 🤞
She is caught up in the clutches of her ruthless family with no way to escape. He is caught up in his past and the girl who saved him from death when he was still just a child. But when our heroine crashes, literally, into his life, he feels a need to protect her and keep her safe.
The Accidental Marriage by Nadia Lee is a brilliantly redemptive love story with a quirky heroine and a stoic, brooding hero whose lives collide and change everything.
Ares is a Huxley, and with his name comes a lot of responsibility and expectations. He’s a billionaire and a lawyer for his family’s law firm. He was kidnapped as a child, and that moment in his life has forever left a mark on him. He’s stuck and unable to really move on, leaving his family with one option for him: move on and start a life, or you can’t become a partner in the law firm. Lareina is an orphan raised by her greedy, cruel aunt who cares nothing about Lareina except for the money she will inherit. She’s trapped Lareina into a situation where she isn’t free to leave, and no one has ever tried to help her. When she gets the chance to escape, she takes it and falls directly into Ares, who helps her escape. Ares needs a wife. Lareina needs freedom and protection. A marriage of convenience sounds like the perfect solution! Or at least that’s what she tells him when he wakes up and remembers nothing about their sudden nuptials.
I loved this book, it’s a guaranteed happily ever after. It will make you smile, get a bit teary, laugh, and most importantly, give you ALL the butterflies.
They met when they were 8 and 10. His mom was holding him captive because she wanted her husband back and was bat shi+ crazy. Or something like that. The little girl gave him wonder bread and water and saved him from a fire. I loved it. They meet 22 years later after she jumps from a balcony.17 stories up onto his. They end up getting married in Vegas after a bunch of events conspire against them, or actually for them. They had chemistry. I loved the heroine and the hero grew on me. She was a Virgin, he was not but only had 4 girlfriends ever. He was picky. But not with Queen. He loved her. She was the girl that saved him but neither knew it. He suspected but he was still searching. It was great and the characters were all interesting. Even the bad guys. Great story and there was no one else after they met.
There is alot going on in this book. Loads of people and extra stuff to the couples issues.
Other woman drama in form of an ex who pops up trying to get him back, he just ignores her mostly.
Other man drama- heroine's family are trying to get her married to her step cousin so they can gain control of her money. She hates him.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. Hero is not a manwhore type, he's had 4 girlfriends but has commitment issues. Heroine is a virgin, due to her closeted upbringing.
The story is a bit OTT, the family actions, the ex's behaviour is OTT.
HEA.

i loved the plot idea so much, so many secrets, mystery... these kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end
i didnt have much expectations but i fell in love with Lareina instantly. i loved how fierce she was to just escape her hotelroom barefoot, with nothing to her name than her passport, some cash and her wedding dress. the way she was so brave countless times had me feeling so proud, she literally deserves the whole world 🥹 and not only that but she's such a strong woman for dealing with that shit her whole life... the art gallery scene where she reveals her secret... oh my god... it was like a gut punch
i liked Ares so much, i cant believe it!! i wish we got more job insight tho, his persona was really bland when it came to his lawyer job but that might just be me. i love that, despite not knowing the woman he met on the balcony of his hotelroom while she tried to escape, he took care of her, even when he was high as hell😭🥹 the way he showered her with love and gentle care, despite not being a real thing 😩🤌🤌 i love how everytime they ate somewhere, he ALWAYS took a bite off her food to check for poison🥹🥹🥹 and he didnt even know until the dinner at the manor🤌
i love how the universe works, i swear. imagine if they never were in Vegas at the same time, staying at the same hotel, same rooms but different floors... and when they met for the first time, the way they looked eachother in the eye, feeling a spark between them because of their past... AND SHE DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED💔 and he was searching for his QUEEN💔💔💔 UGHHHH (and the fact that they found out AT THE END OF THE BOOK!!!! DUDE I WAS SPIRALING IT TOOK SO FUCKING LONG)
the only reason i took one star off is the annoying amount of times Lareina pissed me off... girl i love you with all of my being but please shut the fuck up.
'oh i didnt tell you because i didnt want to bother you...', 'i didnt want to be a bother', 'i can do it myself, i dont want to bother', yadda yadda yadda... SHUT UP. PLEASE. ILL PAY YOU 60 BILLIONS MORE JUST SHUT UP. look, im all in for women's rights, women can do things by themselves and stuff... but there is no need to keep saying that... and i know she had a traumatic past and she was clearly insecure and overthinking, but for the love of god... girl grow a backbone.
i loved the family dinner, especially Akiko and Jeremiah, these two women have my whole heart🥹
I did not realize Nadia was writing a new book so when I saw this one recommended on Kindle Unlimited I was excited.
I was hooked from the first chapter. I loved that Ares was so sure that he would find his queen, even when no one believed him. I also loved Lareina. She had been through so much and just kept moving forward.
After reading the Lasker Brothers series, I was not sure how I would feel about reading about the Huxley's but I was pleasantly surprised. I love how loyal they are to each other, and how that loyalty extended immediately to Lareina.
This was a great way to start the series, and I am excited to continue reading on.

I absolutely loved Ares! His character drew me in right from the start. The beginning of this book was so different from Nadia Lee’s usual openings, it really set the tone for the rest of the story.
While the fake marriage setup had me hooked, the miscommunication between Ares and Larenia definitely tested my patience (in true romance fashion!). Still, Larenia turned out to be such a strong, resilient heroine, and I really admired her by the end.
One of my favorite parts? Getting more glimpses of the Lasker brothers! That series was one of my favorites, so I loved seeing familiar faces again.
If you’re a fan of forced proximity, scarred heroes, and a man falling hard first, The Accidental Marriage delivers.
