Jim Henson's Enchanted Sisters #3

Jim Henson's Enchanted Sisters: Spring's Sparkle Sleepover

Rate this book
On the last night of her season, Winter hosts a sleepover party for her sisters―and the youngest Enchanted Sister, Spring, finally feels old enough to go! But Spring is nervous . . . she's never slept away from home before. The evening ends in disaster when a storm scares Spring into leaving the party early. But when Bluster Tempest steals Mother Nature's scepter and puts her under a sleeping spell, Spring must muster her courage to lead her sisters into the Barrens to get it back. Can Spring convince Bluster and his mischievous boys, the Weeds, to wake up Mother Nature and return the scepter before the Seasons Ceremony is ruined?

This charming series is perfectly suited for newly independent readers who love the Rainbow Fairies and Candy Fairies series. Don't miss Summer's adventure, also available in Winter 2015!

Same cover as other editions but with a Scholastic logo.

On one hand, I feel extremely frustrated with Spring, who is initially thinking about ditching her sisters' sleepover party because—*gasp*!—what if things are *slightly different* from what she's used to??

On the other, my contrary brain IMMEDIATELY brought to mind a number of irritating times when introversion got the best of me, and I was acting just as gun-shy about things I should have had absolutely nothing to be afraid of, so... yay, validation? (Still seems silly to dread being with YOUR VERY BEST FRIENDS, though—at least when *I* dropped the ball on being a friend, it was because I thought I was supposed to for some idiotic reason!)

To be fair, the story is pretty good once the Second Act starts, and there's a little more substance than whether or not a slumber party is happening. The Third Act is interesting, too, with , but it DOES feel a little forced. Like, I have a difficult time believing when the bad guy is just like, "Ah, okay, you got me," and gives up when slightly cornered, I don't know.

Recommended for... fans of the seasons? Or, I guess, fans of the rest of the series.

Spring is changing seasons. Every year on the last day of winter Spring's sister Winter haves a sleepover for the rest of her sisters. But Spring does not want to sleep any where but her room. She does not want her sisters to thing she is a baby. She tells mother and Mother gives her a moon necklace. It is like a night light. She chants some words and to turn it off she chants another set of words. But Spring does run away because she accidentally made Winter. They get things worked but then Bluster Tempest Puts Mother Nature to sleep and steels her scepter. They were best friends! Then the sparkle sisters find the scepter thanks to Quake. Then they finally have the season changing ceremony and name the baby animals.

Spring is the youngest of the Enchanted Sisters and is finally old enough to attend her first Sparkle Slumber Party. She's nervous and a little afraid that she's not ready. But when trouble strikes and the villainous Weeds put Mother Nature under a sleeping spell, jeopardizing the change of seasons, it's Spring who steps up and saves the day.

This is a sweet book with lots of good vocabulary words. Recommended for ages 7-9.

Some of my elementary students really like this series. The books are similar and focus on one of the Sparkle Sisters. This one focuses on Spring and her fears.
