There is a nest of Drows living in hidden caves just outside of Los Angeles. The dark side of LaLa Land knows them well.
Young Drows come out of the shadows at nightfall, looking for trouble and it always finds them.
But then there’s Ellis Burton. Half Drow, half human and searching for an identity in either world.
Her father, Connor Burton is the leader of the Drow clan and the overseer in their underground drug traffic. It’s all medicinal mushrooms. Nothing to see here.
Now her mother, that’s a different story.
Mom disappeared a long time ago into the city and no one is saying anything.
Sometimes, if you want answers, you have to go in search of them for yourself.
Ellis Burton has been prowling the city at night looking for answers but instead, she’s found a calling.
She is the guardian of the dwellers of LA who have to travel the streets at night. Ellis watches from her perch on the edge of buildings, keeping her part of LA safe.
Still, there’s an ache and a question inside of her that will need answers.
Where is the good doctor, Claire Burton? Is she still alive? Did she find out a little too much about the Drow’s magic mushrooms?
And what about the LAPD and Detective Morrissey? Does he know more than he’s saying?
So many questions and one determined half Drow to find them all.

Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Not my ffirst drow adventure ;-) and this one certainly knocks it out again! Kind of a gradual build-up...at least the first half of book one and then things begin to take off with a vengeance. Only mention that as I know slow starters put some off... Ellis has a foot in two worlds and doesn't really fit in either..but with some fantastic friends she fights for both. Lots and lots of magic, friends, family and fighting for peace and her people...both of them!!! A great escape from two amazing authors...thanks Martha and Michael!!
An excellent series that follows the life and maturation of Ellis Burton, half human and half drow. She's shunned and tormented because she appears human but can use the drow shadow magic. All she wants is for the humans and drow to live peacefully together. There's too much suspicion, diversity, and animosity between the two races. Ultimately, Ellis accomplishes the here to fore unthinkable, get the two races to sit and negotiate peace between the two races.
The narrative flows smoothly with ever developing characters. I love this series.
The Chronicles of Shadow Bourne Complete Series Boxed Set (Martha Carr, Michael Anderle)
In my opinion Martha is the perfect foil for Michael and his unfortunate (in my eyes) tendency towards foul language. Together they create characters that draw you in and have you cheering for them at every turn. Continually hoping for the traditional happily ever after! Which you are unlikely to get because these two are anything but traditional. Enjoy!
This series is a PHENOMENAL read! Well written with believable characters. I had a hard time putting it down! I’m glad I didn’t discover it until it was finished because I would have hated having to wait for the next book!
This a complete series of books that once picked up it was incredibly hard to put down the characters were so genuine you believe them from the off a brilliant read
This series has been responsible for too many very late nights. It is a masterpiece of unique story telling, something I don't come across very often. So to anyone who has not read it yet, get stuck in, you won't regret it😀 .
