Let me start by saying I liked this book - read it in one day. Still, I’m giving it 3,5 ⭐️. It was a mix of “nothing is happening” to “problems are being solved way too easily” that made it not amazing for me. I did love Elowen and Jax, I feel they are very relatable… it was a good ending!

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
Things that happened way too fast:
- finding who made the collar and anklets: I thought it was gonna be harder. It was so easy that it feels that the first female interviewed was useless writing.
- mastering her power and being queen of the semelees: after the previous books, I was really expecting a struggle, a power surge… but no, Elowen got the collar removed and was instantly a super skilled lorafin.
- figuring out how to change everything: it was said that six weeks passed, but all we know is that Elowen read a lot. Huh?
- Elowen throwing her guardian in the river: yes, he deserved it, but it felt kinda out of the blue and a bit out of character.
Apart from the main events (twisting fate, the trial), it seems like not a lot happened leading to those events… which made things boring. The Matches were hinted at so many times and we simply never read about what happened.
Also, the whole explanation about the king being behind the kidnapping and his plans was just… weird. We read about it all but had ZERO interactions with him in this book, which feels very distant and not impactful at all. Even his death was silly and rushed.
The final revelation - Elowen being a royal descendant - could’ve been more emotional. It started off so well (albeit being obvious), and then the whole thing just got dull.
It felt like several parts were over explained in one same sentence - almost as though we are 12 y/o with a silly attention span.
Finally, was this book edited? It killed me reading so many “but”s in the same sentence! Not only punctuation serves to fix that, but also other words with the same meaning!

This was just ok. Things seemed to resolve themselves. Everything was very convenient and rushed through. It was a lot of telling instead of showing in order to get to the finale. I can't say it was holding my attention all that well. There were moments when I was counting down the hours for this to be over. This was my least favorite book in this trilogy. Hopefully, my next book it better!

For me this series became less a series of novels and more a sugary sweet fairytale.
Lots of people are absolutely going to love that and so I think this series will do well.

This felt rushed at the end. Tied up in a neat bow. I felt like Jax was neutered. Maybe it would have been better to make it a stand alone about Ellison? 3 stars ⭐️

So repetitive!

I'm confused, are they mates? Can they sense each other through their bond?
The repetition is exhausting! We get the picture; you don't have to drill the point into our heads. I swear every page mentions them being mates, and every other page talks about her sensing Jax through their bond. The first book was a nice read, but once they discovered they were fated in the second book, that is almost all I've read about! It makes this a very cringe read. I'm trying to push myself to read the last 1/4 of the book, but it is a struggle. It's like the characters entire personalities became about being mates. I'm over it.

What in the fresh hell. I don’t even know what to say. I like a speedy fun book, but my god, more happened in the last half of the book than has happened in my lifetime.

Words can not describe how I feel about this book. You know a book is good when you can't put it down, but it is even better when it fills you with so much emotion you have to put it down. That was what this book did to me. I was so anxious and stressed about what was going to happen that I had to stop reading and take a break from it. The breaks didn't last long, considering I finished less than 12 hours after I started. Krista Street you did it again.

This series didn't need to be 3 books. Maybe two because the first was chef's kiss. But this one was all over the place. I don't think there was any outline or any kind of plotting for this book. The romance was also lackluster. Sigh.

P.S. and ffs can we stop with calling everyone 'male' or 'female', what's wrong with 'men' or 'women'? The word for species is 'human', don't use that oneif you're so obsessed with your characters remaining a distinctly (lol) different species but why outlaw man or woman so adamantly?

DNF at 30%, I should've dnf'd the series on the second book when they had sex for the first time cause it gave me the ick. He felt her virgin "barrier" absolutely not.
I got sick of her repeating everything, it felt like she was just trying to make the book longer. The over use of their feelings through the mating bond irritated me.

I hated how this book felt like it was just written in once sitting. The writing of the series got progressively worse. I skimmed most of this book. Not a fan of "male territorialism" it just ruins the MMC personality. Everything was way too easy. No conflict. No depth.

Boring

The last novel in the series was kind of all over the place. I skimmed the last half of the book because I really didn’t even think there was much of a story here. Should have been a duology instead of trilogy.

Genre: Romantic Fantasy
⭐️ 3.5/5
🌶 2/5
🧠 4/10 (Only small amounts of new information added on top of books 1 and 2)
Noteworthy: Final book in a completed trilogy. Available on KU.

I must say that this book was the best of the trilogy and makes me glad I did not DNF through the cringe worthy writing in book 1 and the frustrating way the FMC was so trustworthy after all she'd been through in book 2. From midway book 2 through the end, it got so much better. The pacing was not the best, but it was nothing I couldn't get through. The FMC really started taking a stand for herself, and that was badly needed. I was skeptical because the types of magic in this story seemed designed to allow shortcuts and easy outs, but I learned there's always a twist and price to pay. I enjoyed the ending even though those final few chapters were fairytale like and predictable.

This trilogy is a quick read as a whole, and once you have the world memorized, it's easily digestable. If you enjoy whimsical stories with a little spice, then give this a try.

There were definitely parts I enjoyed but there were parts where it just seemed too much. Specifically how easy things turned around for Elowen. For example, finding exactly what they were looking for in Solis to free her, how she was able to twist fate on her first try and that she was a royal the whole time and was accepted by the King and Queen.

I almost think a fourth book was justified. Elowen could have left after the Queen's words about the kingdom, grown more powerful and Jax had to fight harder for their love because she wasn't a royal.

Since the main characters got together in the previous book, the romantic tension is gone and there is nothing else holding the story together. The plot was dumb and lazy, and I completely lost interest.

4.5⭐️ There were so many things that I loved about this book, and the series as a whole. My emotions were all over the place during this one. I was excited, giddy, stressed, anxious. You name it. At one point, I couldn't stop my traitorous eyes from skimming to the bottom of the page, just needing to know that everything was going to be okay.

There were a few things that happened that I predicted from book one, but the way everything went down took me by surprise. Jaw on the floor. Seeing Elowen master her power, become Queen of the Semelees, and how she took charge of the life she was never in control of made me so happy, and the way her friends showed up for her and embraced her during her darkest times was incredibly heartwarming.

The conclusion to this series was so sweet, and definitely a fun surprise. My only complaint is that I wish we could've gotten more hints at what is going on over in the Solis continent with Nori & Ilara, I would have loved a little update on their life. The writing was a tiny bit repetitive during a few chapters, but not enough to change my opinion on the overall book.

Forever lives the image of Elowen on top of a giant black stag riding through the city in my mind. SO CUTE.

This was the third and final book in this amazing series, and I absolutely loved it!

This book is an absolute page-turner, with its fast-paced narrative and strong MCs . The jaw-dropping plot twists are expertly woven throughout the story, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Elowen's struggles and triumphs are deeply intriguing, making this a truly unforgettable read.

So, if you like…

Unique magical system
Touch her and die vibes
Funny banter
Strong FMC
Great secondary characters

… then this book and series is definitely for you.

I absolutely loved this trilogy. I was so hooked that I read all 3 in 2 days.

Elowen and Jax are just perfect ❤️
The only thing that gave me the ick was "rutting" 🤮

Otherwise, this book was brilliant. I was so worried for Jax when the Kingsfae took him, and then I was worried for Elowen during the trial.

The author managed to fit in quite a bit into this book. Even though a lot felt rushed, it was still so good and completely enthralled me.

I’m not quite sure how to rate these books and the series as a whole, on the one hand there’s a lot I enjoyed here. On the other hand, I am once again REALLY REALLY tired with female characters who don’t get to fully express righteous anger. Like she should have been wayyy more angry throughout this series and should have gotten to express that. I’m just so tired of “well but they had a good reason” or “a good person would let this go so I’ll do my best” WRONG! They fucked up you can be upset about it!! So I’m not going to rate this now maybe I’ll come back at another time but for now those are my thoughts.

The was a great series, easy to read and the books flowed well. I also thought that each book led into the other well without retelling the story (which tends to happen and add unneeded pages). I enjoyed learning about Elowan's lorafin magic as she grew into her magic.

Elowen, Queen of the semelees?

I really enjoyed the finale to Elowen and Jax's story. So much happens and not everything ends up perfect, but it was a fun ride. I didn't want to put the book down, at all, and the story is stuck in my head! Always a good way to feel about a book but also hard to move on. Maybe a reread of the entire Community is in order!
There are some new (and old) characters introduced in this one and I would love to see more of them on future books! Elowen is super sweet and Jax is hopelessly in love. But ... between her guardian, his parents, the past, the suppression "jewelry," and the things going on in the Wild, there's a lot that can go wrong for them. It's interesting how it all ties up, but there are some people that I wish got a little more backlash.
Overall, really enjoyed and would and will read again.

This book was really good and was a great finish to the story. Elowen is one of my favourite character ever and Jax is just too sweet and a total green flag.
the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because the resolving of the plot felt a bit flat somehow. It wasn't as engaging as the first 2 books. So I was just left there feeling like it was a bit anticlimactic.
But this is only my opinion, and I would consider this book series as one of my favorite 😍 ❤️

meh

I wanted to love this book SOO much. The first books in this series were amazing and I anxiously awaited this book to come out…. However, it truly pains me to say it just wasn’t it for me for many reasons. I feel like there were just too many large plot holes, plot points that seemed way too drawn out and some that seemed very skimmed over. Overall just wasn’t the ending I was wanting. Not a terrible book. But for me, it didn’t live up to the high quality I expect from Krista street.

I feel like they set this up to be a great battle of overcoming the king and they used twisting fate as a cop out. Magically everything is fixed and the trial and her heritage is an afterthought? Not a fan. There was such a great premise and the all the sudden everything was tied up with a pretty bow. Boo.

Okay…. First book was pretty good, second book was decent, but this last one was just mostly fluff and everything getting resolved somewhat quickly and easily and then something else coming up immediately after and that too gets resolved fairly easy.. 🥴 This series wasn’t meant to be very in depth and high stakes - that’s obvious in the way it never explains the history, world building, or magic system AT ALL 😑 - but aside from just wanting to know how it ended, I found I wasn’t very invested anymore by this third one. 🤷🏼‍♀️ If you want just an easy, fluffy read then this is it for you maybe.. But not much more past that in my opinion! 😅
