Hemlock and Charlie

I loved this storyline and everything that went into it to make a big page turner for me. Hemlock seems content in his life but when Charlie into thrown into it all bets are off. The danger, suspense, and chemistry in this book make it all the better.

I’ve become a fan of this author and can’t wait to see what she has next for us MC lovers.

3.5 stars-HOT AS HELL is the second instalment in Roux Cantrell’s contemporary adult RBMC: MONTREAL QC CANADA erotic, MC romance series set in the multi-authored RBMC series. This is nurse practitioner and MC member Emile ‘Hemlock’ Durand, and Charlie Rose Cote’s story line. HOT AS HELL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Hemlock and Charlie) HOT AS HELL follows the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. An almost one-night stand ended with an allergic reaction, and our heroine with no place to live following an a physical that left her broken and bruised. Betrayed by her former boyfriend, and one-time best friend, Charlie was struggling to make ends meet but a series of threats, break-ins, and attacks directed at Charlie, find Hemlock offering our heroine a place to stay. Hemlock knows betrayal first hand; having lost almost everyone in his life, Hemlock finds himself falling for a woman whose own life is spiraling out of control but when Hemlock perceives a personal betrayal, Charlie is on the outside looking in until the threats against our heroine become deadly and dark, taking aim at the man with whom she is falling in love.

The world building focuses on both Charlie and Hemlock’s earlier years: loss and grief, struggle and betrayal, and Hemlock’s battle to trust everyone in his life. As the threats and attacks against our couple increase I couldn’t help but wonder why the MC did nothing to avenge their brother and friend.


The relationship between Charlie and Hemlock begins as an almost one-night stand but anything and everything that could go wrong forced our couple apart. A break-in, theft and destruction of her property find Charlie accepting Hemlock’s offer of a home, and the possibility of something more but Hemlock’s lack of trust, hinders the growing relationship between our story line couple. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and dynamic. We are introduced to Charlie’s ex Crispin, and her former BFF Ashley, as well as the return of club medic Razor, Vicious and his girlfriend Sway, Truck, Tail Gunner Player and Road Captain Joker.

HOT AS HELL is a story of betrayal and vengeance, jealousy and obsession, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is entertaining and interesting but there was some redundancy and duplication; the romance is seductive; the characters are desperate and tenacious.

I'm in the minority on this one because I thought it was boring and repetitive. Hemlock had a shit life. We get it. It was a shit life. He life sucked. You see what I'm doing?That's basically what was done in this book. Charlie got screwed over by her ex-boyfriend and BFF. They really treated her like crap. They are still taking advantage of her, and she's letting them. Again, you see what I'm doing?That's what was happening in this book. I didn't think Charlie was very smart. Why not go to the management office and tell them what was going on?They would have worked with her to get her name off the lease, but nooooooooo let's keep paying for something that you don't have to. Hemlock didn't get on my nerves as much as Charlie did, but damn the two of them together annoyed me. I also kept waiting for something with the MC club to happen, but nope. To me, this really wasn't an MC book. Just two people trying to get together and work their shit out. This is just my opinion.

This is the story of Hemlock and Charlie. Hemlock is to the point in life where his life has evened out and settled. Things are going great and then he meets Charlie. He knew the first time that he kissed her that she would bring some chaos and madness into his life. He even ends up in the ER because of her cinnamon lip gloss. She has the unpredictable spark about there and he can't help but be drawn to the glow of it. Then we have her ex and he is a walking billboard with trouble written all over it. Then there is her ex-best friend Lesley. Add all this together and you have a book that was fun to read. It also has twists and turns that you are going to love too. This is a book that you do not want to miss.

This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Hemlock and Charlie’s story.
Hemlock is in a position where he is content and settled with his life as it is, until Charlie, who is a forced to be reckoned with, brings chaos into his life, as he ends up in ER because of her cinnamon lip gloss. These two complement each other perfectly.
This is a well written story which is a slow burn, with found family, friendships, emotions, chaos, danger, suspense, intrigue, forced proximity, complex situations, trust, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable, captivating page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Hemlock’s calm life takes a wild turn when Charlie Rose storms in, all allure and chaos, even sending him to the ER with her cinnamon lip gloss. Although his brothers warned him off, he couldn’t resist her unpredictable spark. And as if that wasn’t enough, Charlie’s life is further tangled with trouble from her ex, Crispin, and her ex-BFF, Lesley.

This is a steamy, unpredictable romance and is all about dangerous attraction and unexpected complications, it’s one I couldn’t put down.

That was really good but I have a few unanswered questions but I enjoyed it. She needs 2 use her brain more lol its like she was constantly letting her ex bother her and not trying 2 stand up 4 herself when she needed 2. Hemlock has had a really rough life growing up but with Truck's help he'll figure out how 2 deal with trying 2 have a relationship with her. I can't wait 4 more!!

Hemlock has trust issues and Charlie has problems with her ex and bff. They took over her condo which is in her name and she's paying for. Things get crazy with them stalking her. Hemlock's family life wasn't the best. There's danger, misunderstandings, heat and a HEA.

Charlie and Hemlock.
I enjoyed these 2 both young having experienced trauma but in very different ways. Trying to find themselves and their places in their worlds.
Their lives suddenly take a chaotic turn when they meet and there is no turning back.

I did enjoy this story. Both Hemlock and Charlie had very tragic pasts. Hemlock had found the RBMC and Truck to help him move beyond most of his pain. Charlie was still struggling with the aftermath of hers. Charlie was very independent, hard working, and still a bit self-conscious. She knew when to trust her heart, with a little doubt keeping it from being fully trusting. Hemlock was very protective, secretive, and somewhat rash in his decision making. There were some steamy moments, tearful moments, and many smiles throughout this story.
