Three Grumpy Groomsmen

Rate this book
I’ve had a thing for Ivy Scott since I first laid eyes on her a year ago. She’s smart, sexy, and everything I’ve ever wanted.

Too bad she was engaged to one of my best friends.

But that idiot leaves her at the altar.

So, as one of the groomsmen, I have to be there for her, right?

Even if that includes a cross country road trip with the other two groomsmen—her best friend, Liam, and my best friend, Harrison–-to the beach house she’s inherited in South Carolina.

Sure, her car is tiny, she’s massively hungover, and Liam and Harrison hate each other (despite hooking up almost a year ago) but this will be fine.

But then I find out Liam’s in love with Ivy too.

And we’re caught in a rainstorm after a night in a Texas honky tonk, and the only option is to stop at a motel with just one room left—and only two beds for the four of us. Suddenly we’re all a whole lot closer.

When we finally get to the small coastal town of Honeysuckle Harbor two beds become only one and, well, you do the math.

Ivy and Liam think our fun, laughter-filled days and our hot-as-sin nights are just to get me and Harrison out of their systems before they head back to their lives in California. But Harrison and I are in love for the first time and we’re determined to make this foursome last forever.

Three Grumpy Groomsmen is a jilted bride why choose rom com with grumpy-sunshine combos galore, where the guys fall first, millionaires really enjoy a run down motel’s “room service”, and the girl gets her man… times three. No cheating, no other woman or other man drama, and a definite HEA.

this was sooo good! i really am a why choose girlie and this was such a good one and so fun!

we also know that i think a woman should have as many boyfriends as she wants and ivy’s guys were really perfect!! harrison, ford, liam, and ivy worked so well together and i feel like (even though everything happened fast) their relationship made perfect sense & the way they all loved each other was so special

thank you the author agency for the arc!!

This was a fun, light little ride, literally. The road trip setup and forced proximity made for some great tension and chaos, and I liked the dynamic between Ivy and her three (very grumpy) groomsmen. Was anything mind-blowingly original? No. But it was still a good time.

The chemistry was there, and I appreciated that the relationships weren’t all copy-paste versions of each other. I do wish we’d gotten more emotional development between a few of the characters beyond just the spice, but the banter and chaos helped carry the story through the slightly rushed moments.

Definitely one of those books where you can tell the author had fun writing it, and that vibe carries over. If you’re looking for a sweet-and-spicy why-choose with some grump-sunshine banter, a jilted bride, and a one-bed motel moment or two... this hits the spot.

When her fiance stands her up at her wedding, she accepts the offer of the best men driving across the country with her. When she starts to fall for all of then, will she have to choose or will they agree to share betwen themselves?

Normally I really like why choose novels. There is character growth, multiple view points and the storyline makes sense. This one I had a lot of trouble getting into. It seemed really slow burn, and then at the beginning it seemed like the third act break-up to end act one. Which further into the book the characters just conceeded to without a fight.

It is a good book, but it didn't draw me in like others. I was able to walk away and come back to it without problems of reading, which is why I give it 3 stars.

I'm not a big fan of books where a new relationship is starting, specifically in these RH/WC or poly books when two people coming into the relationship have negative romantic relationship drama with each other and thet bring that into the group. If I had known this in the beginning, I would never have started it.

“Something needs to happen in that room. We all have a lot of emotion to work off and we need to really connect somehow. We’ve been getting closer. Between the wedding debacle, getting Ivy through that first night, the silly stops that first day, the honky-tonk… now we need something more absolute. Something real. I can’t explain it better than that.”

Three Grumpy Groomsmen | Emma Foxx

Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5, 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5

“This hasn’t exactly been a straight-forward friends-only road trip.”

Read this if you love: why choose romance | billionaire x2 | they fall first | road trip | MFMM romance | friends to lovers | jilted bride | enemies to lovers

“Do women know what sundresses do to men? It’s what gray sweatpants on men do to women. And other men.”

The one thing I love most about Foxx’s “why choose” books is, of course the spice, but also the heart and thoroughly thought out characters in their books. Ivy, the jilted bride, easily went along with the guys, but was supported by each guy in a different way that rounded out her character. Liam, the grumpy best friend, is the one to set the relationship in motion even when things go off track. Ford, the serious one, just wants Ivy for himself after pining for her, but he mostly wants her to be happy. Harrison uses his fun side to cover the fact that he’s scared he won’t be loved, and he is the one with the most growth in the group. It was hard to choose favorite quotes from this book without giving away the best parts, but my overall feeling…it’s happiness and joy from seeing all of these characters together. Plus their families also provided that much needed levity and humor in their relationship too. Don’t miss the bonus epilogue and the extra deleted scene.

Thank you @emmafoxxwrites and @theauthor.agency for the eARC. I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

After Ivy gets stood up at the altar by her fiancé, she feels like she should be more heartbroken than she is.. truthfully? All she feels is relief. And the need to get drunk 😌 so, with the help of Brads best men, and her best-guy-friend Liam, they decide she needs to head to South Carolina and sell the house she was supposed to move into with her not-so-husband.

This road trip brought out a lot of feelings for Ivy and her men. They each bring something different to the table, and they all find out that they could actually have a lot of fun together.. and separately 👀

Liam and Harrison have a lust filled past, Ford has been pining for Ivy for years, Harrison is so down bad for Liam but has never been in a relationship.. and man do these 4 get PASSIONATE.. and messy.

All aboard the struggle bus 🚌 because starting a brand new relationship with 4 people who are SO different from one another, is NOT easy. They fight, they bicker, they get jealous, but they’re all happiest when they’re together.

If you’re looking for something fun, easy, and spicy as heck.. this is the book for you. I had such a good time reading this book, as usual with anything Emma Foxx writes, and the spice they write always just HITS. Like.. one handed books.. always 🤣

I only wish this book was longer, I would love to see more scenes between just Liam and Harrison, I’d love to see more of their relationship far in the future, but for what this book was intended to be, it was perfect, and so so funny.

✨available on Valentine’s Day✨

Loved it

What an absolutely adorable and steamy read! Emma has a way of making things very spicy, but also giving them plot. The characters are real. They all need something specific from the other characters and the group dynamic only works when they're all together. There's no third-act breakup here and while Ivy/Ford and Harrison/Liam are the closer couples, they all still don't work without all 4 of them together.

The only part of the book that seemed odd to me was the Brad storyline. Like the whole FBI/investigation part didn't really need to be there. There didn't need to be any more with Brad other than he left Ivy at the alter. He for sure could've remained a character by name only and the book would've been exactly the same. However, the little part at the end with Brad was kind of cute, so I'll allow it lol

Liam and Ford have been in love with Ivy for such a long time that they both shoot their shot now that they have an opening. Harrison may be in love with Liam, but he soon also falls for Ivy and recognizing that not only does he need her, but they all do.

The enemies to lovers aspect between Harrison and Liam (one night stand gone bad) was delicious. The tension and angst with them leading up to that amazing "eff it" moment was so great. Ford needs Ivy and only wants to protect her while also recognizing that Harrison (his bff) is also needed in his life (Harrison and Ford love each other very much, but not romantic love).

Can I also say that Harrison and Ford's families are the absolute best! Everyone needs family like them in their lives. That kitchen scene with the two of them and their dads had me cackling!

I thank Emma and The Author Agency for the ARC.

4.5 stars rounded up.

Ivy's fiance Brad leaves her at the aisle on their wedding day, and his two best friends, Ford and Harrison decide to help her get her life back together with a road trip to sell her home. Her best friend Liam joins them, and together, they drive coast to coast and discover a whole host of feelings they'd been refusing to let surface.

*****

This was such a ridiculously fun read. I haven't read a 'why choose' book in a while, and although the characters were silly and had some ridiculous interactions, this one had me by the throat. The spice was good, the characters were individual enough while not diving too heavily into backstory, and the general plot was light on the angst with a push towards found family.

I loved how Harrison and Fords parents and entire town embraced them and their partners and how it made the town feel cozy and welcoming. The low-stakes atmosphere with high stakes feelings had the pace moving along steadily and staying so entertaining. The only bits that felt a little weird were the Brad storyline, as I felt like it was more of a nuisance than building anything in the book. As well as how rapidly big declarations were made. It didn't NOT fit. It just was surprisingly fast.

Despite those points, it was just so lighthearted and such a fast and fun pace that I couldn't help but love it.

This was the perfect read for my Valentine’s Day! It was so much fun && it was so hot!! 🔥🥵 Ivy is about to be married to Brad, but Brad never shows. Ford & Harrison are Brad’s childhood best friends & his best men. They are left to tell Ivy she’s been stood up. Ford has had a crush on Ivy since he first met her, years ago. While Harrison had a fling with Ivy’s best friend & best man, Liam. Liam has also been in love with Ivy for years, but they have never been single at the same time. Things get hot & messy, when they decide to take a road trip across the country, from California to South Carolina. This is now the third book that I have read of Emma Foxx’s, and it definitely won’t be the last! They are such a good time!! I can’t wait to read more from Emma Foxx!

A little insta-lovey between one of the couples (not in a good way), and the others were already secretly into each other, making the whole thing happen a little fast for me. Like out of the blue they were springing this on each other and were all okay with this. Aside from that though, this was a good read to pass part of the weekend.

These four had some struggles, but they always talked things out even if they initially reacted poorly. Their four way argument where they were all fighting with and then defending the each other was actually pretty entertaining and was more realistic than I expected. I would have loved more relationship development between some of them that wasn't just sex though.

The story has some sweet side characters, and the town they were in seems fun. These guys were cute together, and I'm glad they got their HEA.

This was super cute. Like super fucking cute as fuck. Excuse my French!

I love reverse harems. I love this author. This was perfect. I loved the dynamics, I loved the relationships, I loved the FMC. I loved the MMCs. I cannot fault this book.

The road trip was cute asf. The epilogue made me laugh. The bonus short story was super fluffy and hot. Exactly how I needed this book to end. It was so good.

Harrison, you little cutie booty!

I received this book (ARC) for free in exchange for my honest review which I am leaving voluntarily.

⭐️4.5. If Emma Foxx writes it, I will read it. They know how to write why choose so well!! And also, they usually put atleast two of the men together. Which, in my opinion, is one of the best ways to write a why choose. Because I love it when there are options!
The way this foursome had chemistry! Sweet Ivy, strong Ford, lovable menace Harrison, and forever friend Liam. A jilted bride has never been more lucky than to take a road trip with these three men. What a dream.

A spicy 4.25 stars!!⭐️

This MFMM romance really solidifies why I enjoy a good why choose story (besides the spice!). Ivy is a jilted bride find her happily ever after and more than one groomsman! We have not one but two billionaires, enemies to lovers situation and an epic road trip!

So happy I was able to experience this quick but satisfying read early as an eARC!

This was such an amazing read. Ivy is left at the altar on her wedding day, and her (ex)fiancé's 2 best friends have to tell her. It's why choose, road trip, they fall first, jilted bride, friends to lovers. Their relationship was fast paced but it made sense for their dynamic. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Fantastic why choose!

Absolutely amazing! I need to read more why chooses. Honestly great bisexual representation! I loved it!

Only complaints: this author has no idea how to write children and there is no way the old rich white southern fathers and grandfather's would be chill with a polycule like they would have no idea what that means let alone be this cool with the bisexuality going on.

"Three Grumpy Groomsmen" is a delightful reverse harem book, where all the characters feel free to pursue their unrequited feelings after Ivy (FMC) gets left at the altar on her wedding day. Liam (MMC) has been Ivy's best friend for years, and has been secretly pining for her. Ford (another MMC) has been loving Ivy from afar for years, trying to be respectful of her relationship with one of his best friends. Harrison (another MMC) had a fling with Liam a year ago and ghosted him, but had been secretly afraid of how deep their connection was and what that would mean. Liam reciprocates those feelings, but is mad at Harrison for not admitting that and leaving without saying goodbye after their amazing night together. In a trip across the country, the four of these characters become a whole lot closer and feelings are uncovered and explored. But with their lives on opposite sides of the country, how can they make this newly formed polycule work? This MMFM romance book has so many positive feels to it and the chemistry between all of them is amazing. Harrison & Liam are together, and they're also both with Ivy. Ford is only with Ivy. So the reader gets the best of both worlds with the MMFM combo! The spice is legit, my only complaint is that I wish there had been more, with more description in those sections. Solid 3/5 peppers on the spice scale though. My other thoughts about parts that irked me are below, and most of those irks are related to how the polycule communicates in the beginning. I really enjoyed this book overall and would recommend it to anyone who wanted a reserve harem, low drama book!

The jump from everyone being friends and it being a casual roadtrip to everyone fucking in a dark hotel room on queen beds next to each other was pretty drastic. It definitely didn't seem organic and felt kind of forced. I mean, there was definitely a lot of sexual tension between pairs of couples and Harrison jump started what was already there. But it was a little weird how he went about it, and it was weird that everyone's response was "fuck it" and they started screwing around too. No conversations between consenting adults about what all this group action meant, just deep diving into dicks.

These four adults act like high schoolers with how they're feeling, and it gives off a lot of ick. Some of them are willing to talk about their feelings, but the others view running away as a viable option. Then they get irritated that no one chased after them. Then when they do finally have a conversation about the feelings they have for multiple people, it still felt childish or like teenagers trying to navigate a poly relationship before they're mature enough to really even attempt that kind of thing.
And why in the world when Liam and Ivy proposed sleeping together as a group, Ivy felt like she needed to put a timeline on things and utter the phrase, "get it out of our systems" is beyond me. I get that Ivy and Liam's lives are in L.A. but since Ivy's life is kind of up in the air, and Liam seems to be willing to really try shit out and might relocate, it felt cruel to say that to Ford. And it's not being clear with wants and desires and putting a bandaid on the real issue. Just be adults and say what you really want!

Ford and Harrison's families are truly amazing. So loving and accepting, no matter what the relationship status was. They throw around their wealth and advice liberally, and I love how involved they were in the relationship. They truly just want to see their kids happy AND support their partners. It's exactly how family should be and it was so sweet!

This book was something else. I read it in one sitting. After being left at the alter Ivy drives across country with the three groomsmen who broke the news to her that her soon to be husband was not coming. Right before the wedding Ivy left her job and sent all of her belongings across the country to move to a small beach front town in the Carolinas with her new husband.... she's up the creek with no paddle. Except, he gifted her the house. The one she doesn't want, in his hometown. So, the guys vowed to make the trek across the country with her to be there for support and safety.

“This hasn’t exactly been a straight-forward friends-only road trip.”

Here are the facts: 2 out of the three groomsmen are in love with her. 1 has been her best friend forever. The other was the groom's best friend. And the other is in love with her bestie. 2 are billionaires and the other, well he is not. That is, until they all get stuck in one hotel room along their road trip that makes them question everything.

“Do women know what sundresses do to men? It’s what gray sweatpants on men do to women. And other men.”

Before you know it, there's a plan and everyone loves everyone. As they do in why choose romances. The spicy scenes were lit. The emotional depth of love, protection and, adoration these four people all have for each other was very sweet to witness.

I would recommend this book to friends who like the following tropes:

why choose romance
billionaire x2
they fall first
road trip
MFMM romance
friends to lovers
jilted bride
enemies to lovers

Overall, I enjoyed the story and the characters. The MMCs each gave Ivy something she needed throughout the book and I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite. I think that makes for a successful why choose.

The road trip aspect of the book was fun and I really like seeing all the stops along the way. I normally really like why choose romcoms, but this one was a little flat to me and I think the timeline felt too rushed.

This romantic comedy is filled with humor, drama, and sizzling chemistry. When three grumpy groomsmen are forced to interact with the bride's lively best friends, chaos and romance unfold. The banter is hilarious, and the slow-burn tension keeps you hooked. Each groomsman has his own unique personality, making their interactions entertaining. This is definitely a page turner, and I had a hard time putting this down! So plan your time...

Ivy has dedicated significant time and energy to planning her dream wedding. With the ceremony imminent, the groom, Brad, is unaccounted for. This is not only a substantial issue for Ivy, but also Liam, her closest friend, is furious. Compounding the problem, the task of notifying the guests falls to Brad’s childhood friends and groomsmen, Harrison and Ford.

A complex interplay of witty banter, emotional tension, misinterpretations, passionate attraction, sensual scenes, genuine friendship, and ultimately, a loving connection lead to individual growth defines the relationships among these four. While I might have preferred some different plot choices, the storyline’s twists, turns, and character interactions made the book thoroughly enjoyable. The MM/MFM scenes were super hot, and I enjoyed the way Ford and Harrison’s families rallied around Liam and Ivy, and supported their new connections.

The HEA was wonderful, I suggest you read it, and I look forward to reading the next new release from this author. I was fortunate to receive a complimentary copy of this book (thank you) and happily leave my review.
