"My name is Dominic Wolf, but in the streets, they call me D-Boy. King of Newark, the man who makes the whole city move. By day, I’m a family man, a husband, a father. By night, I’m the boss they fear, the one who built an empire brick by brick.
But in this game, loyalty’s a lie, and trust is a gamble. Now, I’m facing my biggest test—betrayal, enemies on every side, and a system built to take men like me down. They think they can cage a king, strip me of my power, and make me fold. But they don’t know who they’re playing with.
This life isn’t for the weak, and I’m built to survive. I don’t just play the game—I run it."
This book had me on my toes. It started off slow but then it got good. I did not see Rosci cheating on Dom coming. That shocked the hell out of me. But I can see why she cheated on Dom. He lied about who he was, he was neglectful because of the drug game and his so called “friend” Teah stayed in his face. Rosci wasn’t perfect and she was sometimes aggravating especially when she found he was a king pin. Instead of running away with the kids and having Dom worried she should’ve stayed and talked to him about it. She did irrational things and that lead to part of the divorce between her and Dom.
Dom is an arrogant, narcissistic big headed mf. He couldn’t be told nothing. He should’ve never lied to Rosci on he was. He took away her choice of her actually wanting to be with him and their marriage suffered the consequences. I do believe he loved Rosci because she was different from what he was use too but at the same he only got with her because of what Teah did to him. He wanted Teah to hurt like how she hurt him. But he took it further and married Rosci and they end of having kids.
Solo is better than me cause I would’ve killed Dom if he killed my brother. Yes Havoc was snitching on Dom but Dom coulda handled it differently because he considered Solo like a brother. I also would like more of Solo and Camilla. I liked them as side characters.
All in all this book was great. I really enjoyed it.
This was definitely a slow burn but have to admit it was worth it! The way the brotherhood was tested had me on the edge of my seat and clutching my pearls -lol!!!
Dom who married to Rocsi was a cocky, arrogant man whose ego was bigger than his head lol, but he was also that ninja!! He allowed his ego along with things guide him to crash out! But one this I can say he didn’t cheat on his wife! He kept his street life of being the Kingpin from her and allowed his love for it to affect his marriage, but he didn’t cheat! I feel his biggest is was communication! He had an issue with it! Without that said he protected his family and keep them safe from that part of hood life, but that dang wife of his did see that!
Rocsi, she worked my nerves! Now don’t get me wrong she had valid feelings but she only wanted out her way. Yes Dom lied about what all did for living but she didn’t want for nothing nor did their twins daughter! Do I feel she should have had a choice on if she wanted to deal with a Kingpin, absolutely but what’s done is done! One thing for sure though he didn’t cheat on her, but she cheated on him and that’s what cause the fate of their relationship! She didn’t want to hear no one out about what all she learned about Dom not even her Uncle (who did business with Dom), she did want to see that he never brought that life to their front door, just kept him out late out he didn’t come home! But she had no clue what he was dealing with! It’s was once he stated he wanted a divorce that she realized that he never brought the outside home!
Let discuss Solo and Hav! Now we all know that man Hav had to go! Him working with the opps was his downfall and being release early raised a red flag for everyone including Solo! I didn’t agree on how it was handled because everyone was connected, so when Solo found out who handle Hav, he had the right to feel some way because when all said and done Hav was his brother! I loved Solo as he was dedicated and loyal to everyone in his family and team! He didn’t play about no one that was close to him so the betrayal he received was legit!
Now Teah, I rock with her! At first I was like, I’m not feeling her because she reacted solely off her emotions- lol! But as she stepped back and reevaluate her life and seen how easily she can be thrown under the bus and the many talks she had with those close to her, she changed for the better! As for love, she finally played her role and the background and got who she wanted at the end!
Levy, I just didn’t like her - LMAO!! She was just MESSY!
Thought the betrayal, lies and disloyalty everyone ended up happy after recharging and regrouping themselves! Outside of this being a slow burn, this was a 🔥🔥 read!!!
This one was a good read. Anytime I think about the author’s work while not reading that lets me know I am enjoying the read. I thought about Dom and Rocsi often. I was disappointed that Dom did not share with Rocsi about his hood lifestyle. He stayed away from home too much. She needed help with the twins. Now that I am older I see that in real life a lot of ppl made extra money doing unscrupulous things. I’m not trying to defend Dom’s hood lifestyle but I wish he had shared with Rocsi and explained so that she would not have jumped to negative conclusions . The authors wrote their love scenes whereas you felt the love between the two. I did not get that feeling with Teah and Dom. In fact, it’s hard to accept Dom and Teah with the twins. I enjoyed Solo and Camille being together. I love a good love story mixed with some gangsta. Congratulations to the authors for a well done job. Believe me, if I had not enjoyed the story line then I would have abandoned it.
Wow Dom secret life living two different life sometimes can cause a lot of drama...
Dom being what call King Pin wife not knowing but I'm like frfr your Uncle is the Plug too but you left your marriage because you didn't know about your husband double life...
Then you got Solo and Teah who's apart of his other life you don't really know what your husband does but he's still an running a couple business...
I don't really think I like him with Teah either I feel what he says you slept with a friend that I thought of like a brother yeah that's a no for me... But I guess he feels he can trust that she'll never cheat again...
But his wife yeah you tripping how you gonna get mad because you see he moved on but you wanted that divorce his mom told you to think before you act on it but no!!!!
I'm going to say read it lot of twist and turn drama
When you got the World on your Shoulders while living a double life things can get CRAZY real fast.
This was a bit of a slow burn, but a really good read . Dominic is a stockbroker by day and a D-boy the king pen of Newark by night and his wife has no idea about his nightlife..
His life starts to unravel when the street stuff starts to go off track. He juggles drama with his wife and family life, his mama, his sister, and then the distrust inside of his crew..
Not gon lie I sped through this book. It was kinda annoying. D-Boy had basically been lying their entire relationship about who he was and was still hanging around a woman he once had relations with. The book did a whole 360 and made Rocsi out to be the bad guy? Your wife cheated on you because she thought you cheated on her and you want a divorce but you gon start up a relationship again with the woman who was sleeping with your best friend and played you? Idk all these characters irritated me.
It started off slow but as I turned more pages I was hooked I think dom should’ve paid someone else to do the hit but I get it because havoc was only out to get him and he should’ve showed solo the paperwork he had I didn’t see roc cheating but she was vulnerable at the time but I they should’ve told her the truth from the start thanks again for giving us another banger keep them coming see you soon
The storyline was a good idea, but some of the writing was confusing? There were lines that didn't make sense, and it appeared as though Roc was pregnant in the beginning of the book, then mentioned halfway through after a pregnancy test? This could have been a 5 star read, but the confusion/grammatical errors took away those stars. I see potential in this author for sure, but as a reader of over 30 years, it didn't "gel" for me.
This book was good, however I didn’t like the ending. I feel like D boy didn’t need to take back Teah if he couldn’t do the same for his wife. Although I didn’t like either one of them for him. He should have started dating someone else. Anyway I enjoyed the story and I like who Teah became however that hoe within her I could get passed lol.
I wasn’t really a fan of D-Boy he was super cocky and his arrogance almost made him lose everything. I had a love/hate relationship with Rocsi. I get why she was upset but at the same time she wasn’t looking at the whole picture. Solo was the realest of them all he held it down the entire book. Teah was all over the place at first but she definitely had her glow up at the end. Overall a decent read
I really enjoyed reading this story. It had me on the edge of my seat a few times, and I didn't want to stop reading it. This was my first time reading something from this author. It want be my last. This author is awesome. I'm about to go check out some more of her books. Lata
I do not understand why Solo was mad when he did it for the family. Mama Wolfe was a real OG, but i could not stand his sister. She was a hood rat and ghetto. His ex wife, should have just walked away and not cheated. I'm glad that they hashed it out in the end.
Such a great read and a surprise turn around. Great character development and the story line was something new which I didn’t expect. First read from this author but I will be looking for more.
I loved how the author detailed every character and each one had their own story. I loved the MMC D Boy and how he carried himself. He was very street but professional when it came to his family.
This book was a good read. It held a lot of suspense and excitement and passion and drama and romance. It has some unexpected moments in it. I was definitely disappointed in the way the marriage ended in the book.
Love love love!!!!! Great read from start to finish. I hate that roc and Dom didn't make it. TT just didn't seem right to me for Dom. But overall excellent read
