I am a Drakarn warrior, protector of my people, master of blade and sky. Battles and threats are known to me, but she is a new mystery. Terra storms into my world, unlike any female I've encountered. Smooth-skinned, wingless, clawless… yet she radiates a fierce strength that ignites a firestorm within me. Her defiance only fuels my desire. Her scent is my obsession, her touch a torment I crave. Every instinct within me screams mate. She's stubborn, resisting the bond that pulls us together, a bond she doesn't yet understand. But when a Drakarn finds his mate, he does not let go. Terra harbors secrets, shadows that threaten the fragile trust blooming between us. And when those secrets draw danger to her, I will unleash the inferno. She is mine. My heart. My soul. I will scorch the skies and obliterate anyone who dares to harm who I cherish above all.
It was ok but I found it lacked world building and seemed choppy at times. There is still alot we do not know about Drakarn society. Are they capable of space travel, do they have space ships, and are they aware of other alien species or are they more along a "barbarian" society like Games of Thrones? Do they have advance technology or not because all we get a glimpse is they use herbs and oils as medicine? Alot of unanswered questions. Also at times the plot moved in a choppy manner with one scene jumping to another with no bridge and making it hard to understand how the characters transitioned. There were also holes in the plot especially in the case of the FMC has civilians on her ship who are on the hostile planet environment and after two weeks with the MMC does she indicate being worried if other ships crashed leading the MMC to stated he will send out scouts. TWO WEEKS later after a ship crashes on a planet? Though she still does not mention the civilians that were on her ship that are still out on the surface of the planet trying to survive the extreme heat that even the MMC at one point states is difficult even for Drakarns, yet the FMC makes no mention about the humans still out there. The conversations between the MMC and FMC at times did not make sense because there were many scenes were the conversations were very "wordy" but nothing said made sense or was clear. Lots of words but really said nothing.
Again an ok start and will read the next book in the series. Hopefully it is will improve and the readers gets a better understanding of who the Drakarns are along with less irritating FMCs who tend to be too stubborn and a little too full of themselves.
This is a new series for me but not a new author. I've read and enjoyed a few Kate Rudolph books in the last and decided to give this series a try. Terra is a human warrior in her own right and she and a few other soldiers and civilians have crashed landed one Fiery planet filled with aliens that re.one her of dragons. I like Terra she seems like a capable tough leader who wants to see her people safe. Darrokar is leader of his people he has a vision in the open pages of the story where he sees Terra and recognizes her as his mate so when he sees her near the crashed ship he takes her and the other to his city. Things heart up between Terra and Darrokar very quickly the other human and Drakarn don't appreciate it. Secrets and distrust hamper their relationship, but they both learn to forgive and allow love to rescue them. Over all impression decent first book but I wish there was more world building. Why did they leave Earth? Are their others, what happened to their ship to make it crash? Will I be reading the second book yes I do enjoy a space dragon! 🌟🔥💖🔥🌟🌟🔥💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖
Absolutely no back story or world building, they meet right off the get go and it lacks in all directions. Too much instant love and mindless action and over the top cheesy dialogue.
We don't know exactly why Terra's people have crash-landed onto planet Drakar, but crash-land they did. Darrokar is one of the first to discover the humans, and he knows instantly that Terra is somehow his destined mate. That part is never really explained.
Terra and Darrokar learn to speak to one another with the help of Terra's secret translator implant, yet the two largely fail to communicate properly with one another. Also, Drakar society is a big ol' mystery.
The story majorly bogs down at like 67% of the way through. Still deciding if i want to give book 2 a go. Three stars.
Pitfalls of a cool cover. World building and plot were lacking. The h was whiney and annoying. There wasn't really any chemistry between the H and h. I probably won't read more of the series, but it wasn't so awful that I couldn't finish it so I gave it 2 stars.
The storyline was a bit unrealistic for me. Terra spend a couple of weeks getting to know her mate but doesn’t even really try to find out what happened to her fellow captives or the people left behind in the desert seems improbable to me I read this via Kindle Unlimited so consider it worth my time and $$
I'm not certain about the purpose of this book. Is it a romance? Is it a new universe to be built? Is it a sci-fi romance? I can't say it hit any of those three.
I kept getting the feeling there were previous books or stories here because so, so much is missing. The male lead is a warrior lord, and there's some good physical description of him. But a warrior lord of what? there's talk about a council, but nothing that tells me of what. An entire people? The planet? Nothing.
The female lead, of course, has red hair and green eyes. There's a shocker. She's the leader of a group of humans who originally were on search vessels for a new planet, I think. Some of that comes out very late in the story.Did they crash there accidentally? Maybe, but don't know for sure. How many were there? No idea. Are they the only survivors, are there other ships, are there any human men? We do know there are some other women in a nearby cave, but that's it. Why did they flee, and where are they going? Who knows.
The two leads were dreaming of each other prior to their meeting. Do they discuss this or seek out an elder or someone to talk about why? Nope. They literally just jump into bed and accept that they are mates. Later in the story, the female lead decides she can trust the male even though he's virtually held her prisoner for some unclear period of time. Oh, and he's angry that she has "lied" about knowing about some additional survivors. Whatever.
This is a Swiss cheese of a story that can't be filled even by subsequent volumes. There's a good bit of $ex, but that gets boring fast with all the allusions to fire, heat, molten things, mating scents, fire, hot things, heat, fire, hot things, fire, heat and mating scents. Yeah, it's that repetitious.
Every interaction between the leads is a master class in heaving bosoms, straining pecs, raised chins, determined looks, piercing glances, gasps, wraslin', murmured names, and arched eyebrows. you could change out the costumes and location and this would be a Regency novel.
There isn't a plot here. I am unsure if another book in the series will fill all the holes. Besides, that's usually the job of the first book in a series.
Earthling military officer Terra along with her crew and a group of civilians crash lands on a harsh, fiery planet riddled with environmental and sentient d3adly threats. Not long after being jettisoned from their spacecraft, the crew are descended upon by a swarm of giant, winged dragon-biped creatures who carry them to their headquarters in the nearby city. One particularly fierce warrior focuses his attention on Terra, and he deposits her in his private quarters.
Drakarn leader Darrokar is drawn to the tiny compared to him but extremely combative and capable Terra, and every instinct within him recognizes her as his fated mate. After she is nearly assaulted by a rogue drakarn, Darrokar swoops in to save her and endeavors to claim and protect her.
As the pair spend time together both in intimacy and in combat training, there are still things Terra fails to disclose to Darrokar, placing herself and her crew in peril.
Darrokar is a formidable, s3xy alpha who’s completely enamored with and protective of Terra from the moment he spots her, worshiping her with his body and resources.
Terra is a perfect match for Darrokar, strong and smart. Their chemistry is incendiary and Kate Rudolph delivers many scorching love scenes in this novella. The world building is well done, and I look forward to future books featuring the others who arrived with Terra.
I was very fortunate to have been furnished an advance reader copy from the author and booksprout, and I’m happy to share my honest review.

Claimed by the Drakarn Warrior Lord is quite suspenseful and definitely a page turning sci-fi romance book. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. I absolutely did NOT want to set the book down until I read the last page. This book is phenomenally written, exceptionally balanced and beautifully executed by Kate Rudolph. Kate Rudolph continues to prove what a brilliant author, storyteller and writer she is with each book that I have read by her so far. In my opinion, Kate Rudolph puts her all into the books she creates and writes for her audience’s enjoyment. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. This book follows the story of Darrokar and Terra whom I found to be quite interesting and intriguing at the same time. I immediately fell in love with both of Darrokar and Terra and I couldn’t get enough of their amazing story. This book is completely captivating from beginning to end. I would absolutely give this book as a suggestion for anyone who is looking for a fantastic sci-fi romance book to read. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next from this author in the future.

"I would tear through realms known and unknown if that’s what it took."
Darrokar believes mates exist, but more than that he believes the universe just might have an extraordinary woman waiting for him, somewhere, if his world and people don't kill her first.
Terra is fighting not just for her life but for the lives of her fellow survivors. Just because they crashed on a world with a hostile environment and unknown aliens doesn't mean all hope is lost. She just has to keep her wits about her, especially when the alien leader isolates her, and starts to really confuse her.
This done in one kindle unlimited book introduces an interesting world, and presents the opportunity to get to know humans struggling to find their footing on an alien world, as well as struggling to trust one another when they are separated.
Terra has a core of strength but Darrokar challenges her to continue learning, to look beyond muscle memory, the training she has already received, and the strategies she already knows, and dare to learn ways to face challenges she never dreamed existed.
'I would find her. I would tear through realms known and unknown if that’s what it took. Just as the scar across my chest was earned and worn with pride, I would bleed for this bond.'
I really loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I was hooked even from the prologue. It was a powerful and beautiful first sight moment- even if only in a dream. I loved both Darrokar and Terra. Both were strong characters. I love the language barrier between them (one of my favorite and lesser-used tropes). She refused to show fear or back down, but even so recognized the powerful pull to the dragon alien. He was both enamored and possessive of her.
'She was magnificent— a contradiction of softness and steel, fragility and stubborn defiance.'
I loved how powerfully he felt the mate bond, and how he used his senses to navigate communication.
'One step at a time, my beautiful, fragile mate. I would teach her. About language, about trust, about belonging. About me.'
I was swooning hard for this alien! An excellent start to a new series. I can't wait for more! 5 stars.
A brand new alien romance series to sink my claws into!
The Drakarn warriors are actual dragon men, not shifters as such so they have the claws, the wings...and the tails! Oh and that tail can cause a lot of moisture for his mate!
Terra is the perfect partner to him - she is stubborn, fearless, loyal and not above omitting a thing or two to keep her crew safe.
These two really are like dynamite and matches. The chemistry is humungous and the more they stick together, the more intense it becomes. The fact that he sets Terra up with warrior lesson tells you all you need to know about how not only possessive but protective this MMC is. Oh and the fact that she's the only one who stops him from killing a fellow warrior when he tries to take what isn't his!
Fab start to this new series and a proper alien MMC who is more than just a humanesque alien, he really is "other" and that tail - ooh la la! I can't wait to see what fate has in store for Rath and to see what more we can learn about Terra and her fellow crewmates!
I love some dragon-man aliens and a bad ass heroine, but this story felt hollow.
This world and its people are COOL! Two suns and a brutal warrior race? I’m invested. Yet, we got almost no information about the alien world or its people beyond surface information. It left me feeling disconnected when I wanted to feel immersed in a foreign world. I also feel like all of the tension was sucked out of the story as soon as Terra was suddenly fluent? I know she had a translator but we got from broken sentences in on chapter to an impassioned monologue in the next. It was never explained in anyway that mattered and pulled me right out of the story.
Terra was a great FMC. She was strong and determined, even as she made some poor judgment calls. The MMC? Who was he? What was his role? All his did was grumble, obsess over Terra, and proclaim that she was his mate. I can’t even remember his name… not anything meaningful that occurred between the FMC and MMC.
Terra and her crew were on a mission to take women from Earth to a new planet. They had no clue what planet. Instead they crash onto a planet. Now faced with men who look like dragons. This story is a lot about trust which is hard to give when you do not know the language or customs in this new world. The descriptions of the planet were very little. But the descriptions of the men were trevally good. Both the male and female had to learn each other slowly yet things still went pretty fast !! It was some steamy bedroom scenes. Lots of drama and action. I liked how even though Terra knew she was not built like the people on this planet - no wings or claws- she still stood her ground and fought with what she did know and have. This was agood start to the series and with at least 10 women on board that ship this series could last awhile.

Sometimes I’m wary of cross-species romances but I really enjoyed the relationship between Terra and Darrokar.
Terra’s ship is heading back to Earth when it crash lands on Volcaryth, Darrokar’s planet. With no place to go and civilians to take care of, she has to adapt to a new planet, surrounded by alien’s with massive wings.
Darrokar, on the other hand, has been having dreams about his elusive mate. Despite mates being *extremely* rare, he knows Terra belongs to him.
Really enjoyed the plot, had a bunch of steamy scenes mixed in and I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series 🥰.

Warrior Lord of Scalvaris, Darrokar, has dreamed of his mate emerging from a crashed ship hurtled from the skies of his planet Volcaryth. When the day arrives the dream becomes a reality and Terra Drake, Captain of the ship is HIS! Claimed by the Drakarn Warrior Lord delivers this dragon a feisty warrior in her own right who is also very confused by the draw she feels towards the alpha male who claims her. Theirs is a passionate story of a fierce mate bonding that cannot and will not be denied, hot love scenes, danger, betrayal, expertly written prose and engaging characters crafted into an amazing Sci-Fi romantic read. Can’t wait for the next book!.

This was an engaging and steamy series opener that brings together a dragon warrior lord and a human captain. I love that this story starts with Drarrokar dreaming of a spaceship crash and an alien gal emerging that's his mate. Thankfully, the event happens and he's quick to find and help her and the others out... Terra is such a strong gal but she's torn between her duty to protect her people and her drive to be everything as Drarrokar's fated mate. Expect drama, danger, betrayal and hot romance, with a tail ;P, to keep you glued to your reader, beginning to end. I love that the author gave us insight into the next book at this end of this one. Can't wait to read more about Rath and his purple haired match ;D
Darrokar and Tarra. He is a fierce warrior and shes a human captain of a ship and his mate. She and her crew crash land on a planet and are captured by the Drakarn. Darrokar takes her to his chambers knowing she is his mate. She resists the mate bond but not for long. She has secrets. That could put them in harms way but he will protect her at all odds. This is a story with great charector and world building that entwines the fantasy of mates and their differences of not being so different after all and dealing with the outside opposition. There are great secondary charecters and cant wait to read their story.

3.5-4* I enjoyed this hot (literally) first book of this new series. Darrokar, leader of the Drakarn warriors, dreams of his mate. Terra and her crew crash land on Volcaryth, a volatile alien planet. When she comes face to face with the dragon-like leader she feels an elemental attraction to him. From there tensions are high between Darrokar whose primal instinct tells him to protect/dominate his mate and Terra’s fears of being controlled. This was a quick fun alien romance to escape into. Looking forward to more in this series. Oh did I mention his hot tail…now there’s a tale. 🔥

My first impression of our male main character (MMC) is that he is resolute. He has complete faith in himself, his instincts, and his mate, leaving no room for doubt, even when she gives him reasons to question her truthfulness. I am truly in awe of him.
On the other hand, our Female Main Character (FMC) is definitely strong, but she’s struggling with her loyalty to her mate versus her responsibilities to her people. I’m really glad that the MMC is not only strong enough to accept her fears and doubts but also dedicated to protecting both her and her people. It’s heartwarming to see that kind of support!
loved it !! a great start for a new series and new world !! love Terra and Darrokar !! this is their story... a fast paced action packed drama... on Volcaryth, a hellish world filled with volcanos and ash storms... there is no safe place except Scalvaris the underground city... Captain Terra Drake and her crew and a few civilians crash land on this hell scape... Darrokar Lord Warrior and his team find the intruders and capture them but, not all... he scents Terra as his... she is separated from her team... this is what follows... danger.. twists.. secrets and more... so good !!!.

🌶️Spice: 3.5–4/5 💞Romance: 2/5 — their connection didn’t convince me 🧭Plot: 2/5 — worldbuilding very lightly sketched so far
Claimed by the Drakarn Warrior Lord didn’t really land for me.
Personally even the naming choices took a moment to get past..a Terran FMC called Terra, a volcano-y planet named Volcaryth, that other seemingly angry dude called... Rath?
The romance also escalated very quickly to the point where it felt like the FMC forgot what was actually at stake...
That said, readers who enjoy fated-mate dynamics with minimal emotional resistance could have a good time here.
Claim The First! WOW! Reading this book left me breathless… It’s such a thrilling, fast paced and wonderful story. Terra, as ‘physically inferior’ as the Drakarn see her, without wings, without scales, without claws, is a warrior nevertheless. Darrokar is intrigued by her and by the bond he feels they share. It triggers a laugh, not only for me but for them as well while they get to know each other better. There is fire and heat on this volcanic planet and between the MCs. Join them, you won’t regret it! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Warrior Lord Darrokar, dragon-type leader of the Drakarn warriors, sees an alien ship crashing from the sky. Terra Drake, Captain of the ship, is the female he has been dreaming of, his mate! She is strong, brave, and in control, a worthy mate for him. But while his instincts tell him to protect and dominate her, Terra fights against being controlled. Terra also has civilian passengers to keep safe which might affect her judgment. Will Terra and Darrokar learn to trust each other? Can their mate bond ultimately pull them together?
I enjoy this author’s alien romances. Enjoy the protective nature of the otherworldly males and the whole she’s the one scenario, and there’s some fun danger and action. Good connection going on between Terra and Darrokar too; sweet with a nice touch of spice. Like the setting of a being on a different planet; Terra has crash landed on Darrokar’s planet. He’s used to getting what he wants, but Terra isn’t going to just be bossed around, but there’s more danger at play than either anticipated. An entertaining read!
Claimed by the Drakarn Warrior Lord is Book 1 of Kate Rudolph's series Drakarn Mates, and I really enjoyed the read! There are great characters: Darrokar, Warrior Lord of Salvaris and Terra Drake, captain of a crashed ship with responsibilities to her team and the civilians with them.
There are plenty of steamy bits to entertain and a couple of good action scenes. I like the world building, but here, I felt it needed more.
Overall, a great start to these rides. The book ends with a short clip of Rath, the second in command to Darrokar. I look forward to reading that one!
Terra and her crew have crash-landed on Volcaryth, a hellish planet with molten lava lakes and extensive deserts. When Darrokar and his males arrive on the scene, tensions are high, exacerbated by the mate bound pull between Terra and Darrokar. What I found most unique and appealing about this story was the internal battle that Terra faced between her responsibilities to her people and her draw to Darrokar. She is so strong and I loved her fierce desire to be viewed as a warrior in her own right. A fantastic start to what will no doubt be a terrific series.
Darrokar a dragon warlord is awaken repeatedly by dreams of a woman surrounded by fire. Only one word he knows, mine. Terra, a warrior in her earth standards wakes up on a uncharted planet with females civilians and military she is responsible for keeping safe. This adventure has a few levels about trust, world building for the humans and did I mention trust? Good read..thus is.yne beginning of a new series. Action of course. Good read.
