Four college students set out on an adventure, hoping to come back with material for a class paper. The goal is simple—visit an abandoned haunted house to uncover its origins and what led to it being an urban myth.
Questions arise concerning the safety of the group before they even arrive. And when they do, they’re surprised to learn the house isn’t abandoned. A caretaker named Amare welcomes them and offers to share what he knows of the home’s tragic story. Intended as a wedding gift, the house should have brought happiness to a young couple.
But a stranger had other ideas.
Unfortunate events soon have the group divided and uncertain who to trust. One thing is certain—they never should have come to Sanctus House!
I live in Northwest Georgia with my wife and kids.
Aside from writing, I enjoy the outdoors. Hiking is a favorite and one of the things I'd like to do more of. I also enjoy riding my bike (motorcycle) when I can.

"Sanctus House" lures you in with the promise of truth but leaves you questioning reality itself. What begins as a simple college project to explore an abandoned haunted house spirals into a chilling journey of trust, betrayal, and supernatural terror. The house, meant to symbolize love and joy, hides secrets darker than anyone could imagine. Kenyon T. Henry masterfully blends horror, suspense, and human psychology to create an unforgettable tale.
As the students meet Amare, the enigmatic caretaker, the line between truth and deception blurs. The history of Sanctus House unravels through his narration, each revelation more disturbing than the last. The group’s initial camaraderie begins to fracture as fear grips them, and the true danger reveals itself. The pacing is impeccable, keeping readers hooked as the mystery deepens and the stakes rise.
The most compelling aspect of the book is its exploration of trust and human vulnerability. With every twist, the group faces moral dilemmas and must decide whether to trust Amare—or even each other. Kenyon T. Henry skillfully uses the house as a metaphor for the dark corners of the human soul, making it much more than just a haunted setting. The eerie atmosphere and vivid descriptions make you feel as though you're right there, walking through the cursed halls.
If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers with a touch of the supernatural, Sanctus House is a must-read. It’s haunting, thrilling, and thought-provoking—a book that will linger in your mind long after you’ve closed it. Are you brave enough to uncover the truth? Or will you stay for eternity? A great first foray into the horror genre. There is enough meat here that this could easily have been expanded into a full length novel. The story has tight pacing and interesting concepts filled with well-developed characters. While the tension is in full-swing, gorier elements are missing from this story. This is the perfect book, if you are interested in starting to read horror. It's not the book for the splatter enthusiasts, but I think fans of haunted houses and tension based horror will find it enjoyable.
The story is a perfect example of how compelling but opposing narrative elements, like horror and faith, can be interwoven into a captivating tale. Henry delivers yet another fantastic story of everyday, likable and relatable characters plunged into paranormal circumstances.
I really liked the premise of this novella. The biggest issue I had was a limited character development and minimal follow up after the visit to Sanctus House. A lot of the events and ideas could have been fleshed out so much more into a full length horror novel.
