Vermisste Kinder.

Kannibalismus.

Unidentifizierte Wesen.

Irische Wurzeln.

This is the second story in the The Phoenix Night Shift series. You do not have to read the first story, Protect, but the characters from Protect will be in this story too. You could read this story as a stand-alone.

I liked reading this story because there is action, great world building and the characters are so well formed, it is like people that you know. You do get to read from different perspectives, not just one. That way you get to learn a bit about why certain characters feel the way they feel. The story does end up with a happy ever after, but I can see where there could be more about this group in further stories.

Special Agent Tara Winslow, FBI Agent from Montana, from a family of law enforcement officers, is dealing with things that she doesn't understand. She is on a case where people go missing and when a child goes missing, they bring in the FBI. She is supposed to work with a special unit in New York City. Being that she is Alpha all the way, that is what happens when your mother dies when you are three and you are raised by your father, the sheriff, and brothers who are peace officers. With her great grades in high school, she got scholarships in college so when she graduated the FBI scooped her up. She keeps trying to make her dad proud of her, but that will never happen. She butts heads with the special unit that she is supposed to be working with. She tries to take charge of them, drops them from the case, and then she is working for/with them. She knows that they are holding secrets from her, and she is trying to get to the bottom of it all. When they explain the reality of the case, she has to see it to believe it. Now that she knows that she is dealing with things from their world, she takes a back seat to them. She learns that there are bad things that go bump in the night, but in this case, they like to barbecue and eat the humans they kidnap. Plus she is strongly attracted to each of them.

Captain Adonis is used to being in charge and doesn't take it lightly when this female human tries to put him under her. He has a fear of water because he lost someone he was to protect in water.

Lieutenant Thaddeus Faustus from Romania, has a strong case of PTSD from a battle hundreds of years ago. He has vast knowledge from that battle and can whip up some potions to fight many poisons. He is the oldest of this unit.

Officer Todd Murray is the first in his phoenix line, coming from a long line of leprechaun.

Officer Adrian Beak is the baby of the group at the age of 28. He is the one that is most into all the technology toys. Sometimes he hates being the baby, but you have to grow up sometime and with this group at least he has a good male figure to follow.

FBI agent Tara gets sent to New York when a child disappears in Central Park, adding one more to the number of missing people. She's supposed to lead the team of her people and the people from NYPD but from the get-go the Captain of the Special Unit will not accept that. They have a few run-ins. Adonis (yes, that's the Captain's name and he looks like one!) forbids Tara to go in to the tunnels under the park where they think the kidnappers might be holding the captives. They do gruesome things to the captives which increases the urgency to find the child. Tara, having spent her whole life trying to prove she's as good as any guy, kind of has a chip on her shoulder about her authority and being taken seriously. So she goes in to the tunnels alone and what she sees freaks her out!!! She runs out of there being chased, runs to the police station where the 4 Special Unit team members have their top floor apartment, and they take her in while she tells what she saw. The 4 man team already know what's down there in the tunnels. They've figured it out based on the evidence. They are shapeshifters and are called upon when crimes are committed by creatures from other dimensions. They weren't sure Tara would understand or accept this, but since she went in the tunnels..... Along with trying to solve the crime with her 4 hot shifters, Tara develops feelings like she never had before. Are they reciprocated? Such an interesting and exciting mystery.

This book was an amazing read that pulled you in right from the start. Tara Winslow is a special agent for the FBI and has been a signed to find a boy that went missing in Central Park and to work alongside the NYPD special task force and when she meets the four men she is taken back by how good looking they all are and how hot they make her feel, anyway back to the job Captain Adonis Anastos, Lieutenant Thaddeus Faustus, officer Todd Murray and officer Adrien Beak are here to help her find the missing boy but they have secrets and she is finding it hard to get any real answers from them and this is driving her crazy so she fires them all and goes it alone without them and what she finds in the tunnels underground in the park nearly kills her but she manages to escape and heads to the office to see the Captain Anastos to find out what the hell is going on and what was the creature that attacked her and what’s with all the human bones turning up around the pond, and so after entering the his office she is told the truth about what is really going on in the park and what they are fighting against and she is shocked and unsure weather to believe them. How does it all turn out between them all when the chemistry is off the charts and do they save the boy from the creatures in time, read this great book to get the answers you won’t be disappointed.

As the second book in the series, we know that the kidnappings and cannibalism is being committed by supernaturals. The FBI gets involved and Tara is sent to work with the police. As an FBI agent, she has her nose in the air like everyone is beneath her and they know nothing about investigating. She does not play well with others, so she definitely doesn't work well with them. I loved getting to know the new Phoenix team. Todd was so cool with his leprechaun powers. He and Adrian being brand new Phoenix don't have memories to access for help in the battles. Thaddeus and Adonis are the mature ones on the task force. Tara wants to know everything, but first she doesn't believe what she's told and then when her own eyes show her the truth, she doesn't listen to what the men tell her. She is not very nice or likable and it had me wondering if the guys were just so hard up and she was there. It was nice to see Donovan's crew again. Maybe Tara hanging out with Tanya will temper her personality and she will become a nicer gal. I did like that she will be heading the new FBI unit. Tara is a FBI agent who has been minitoring the disappearances in Cental Park and now a 7 year old child has gone missing. She is called into her bosses office and told that she is to work with the special unit of NYPD and she is to take control. It is unknown to Tara that the special unit is all phoenix shifters. She knows that they are holding information back from her and is not happy about it.Adonis, Adrien, Thaddeus and Todd find out what they will be going after and all they want to do is keep Tara safe.
Can Tara find out what is being held back from her and once she does can she handle it?
Can the guys keep Tara safe and at the same time keep the city safe from what is coming for them.
To get the backbone of the story and a feel for some of the characters you will need to read Phoenix Night Shift book one. This is book 2 and it is about a team of 4 Phoenix shifters and 1 human that has to work together as a team to get the job done.
The chemistery between Tara and the guys is off the charts and she just feels safe with them.
I would recommand this book to anyone.

People are missing but when a boy disappears, Tara Winslow, FBI agent is assigned the case. Tara is determined, strong willed women so when the special NYPD squad, our Phoenixes refuse her orders, she fires them from the case. When she investigates further and finds a hidden grate that leads underground and enters she meets the Trolls and barely escapes. She goes to the guys asking for their reports of the missing people cases but it's retracted. What else are the guys hiding? When they meet later at a bar and walk her home the Trolls attack them, so the guys take her to their place. Now they have to work together for the Trolls have dominated the tunnels and sewers under New York Central Park. Can they find the missing people and save the boy? This book has on your edge of your seat action, steamy romance, and four phoenix shifters who are adorable, lovable and handsome and it also brings the characters from the first book as they battle the trolls. I enjoyed reading this splendid paranormal shifter romance. The various characters are well-developed with unique personalities & display realistic emotional feelings & moods suited to the situations they find themselves in. The story-line & plot is well-thought out & written with some interesting & unexpected mythological events.
There is: a strong-willed young female FBI agent (Tara) is investigating several disappearances & is confronted by NYPD officers (Captain Adonis & his team: Thaddeus, Todd & Adrian), various kinds of shifters, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, action, adventure, disappearances/abduction, mystery, secrets, danger, threats, suspicions, enemies, attractions, manipulations, investigations, discovery, devious plans, confrontations, attacks, victims, conflict, violence, declarations, love, steamy scenes, contentment & a well-deserved satisfying conclusion. I would recommend this paranormal shifter romance to people who like to read this genre.

WOW this is a super series! At first I was a lil but disappointed that the guys from the first story weren't included but later in the book they made their appearance and it felt like the family was all accounted for. Once again hot dudes and a spunky spit-fire heroine...I enjoyed Tara but Tanya is my kinda gal! straight forward, blunt and the kind who can handle herself! The story flowed wonderfully and I was tickled to find the Leprechaun included. This group was an interesting mix seeing as they were younger(ish) than the Daniel's group. I'm soooooooooo looking forward to the next book!
NYC has a lot going on and NYPD is filled with interesting people. Would like to hear more about some of the supporting characters besides Bunny....maybe a bit more about Ready Freddy? or the Mer-people? All of them would be awesome side stories!
Thank you Laura Wylde for an awesome get-a-way!

Tara came to the Phoenix's as a head-strong woman. She is only trying to make a name for herself in a male dominate career in the FBI! The Phoenix's (Adonis, Thad, Todd, & Adrian) didn't want Tara on their team at first. But as they got to know one another then they all became friends! But as Tara searched for the missing people and found clues, she started realizing that this wasn't just a normal everyday case! This case had become a paranormal case and Tara wondered what in the world did she get herself into? As she realized who her partners where, she also became aware of how her feelings where developing into something more for the Phoenix's! Do they become more than merely friends/partners? Or does she run for the hills? Does Tara let her feelings for them get in her way of becoming a better FBI agent? I guess you will just have to read the book to find out! I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good paranormal romance!

Special Agent Tara Winslow was on the hunt for a missing child and she has no idea what she is about to step into because she is a hard boiled agent her whole family is into some type of law enforcement so she really didn't have choice of her perfession. She is about to meet the special unit that handles unusual incidents that happen in NYC. aa4 Phoenix Shifters that will turn her world upside down. As she will turn their worlds upside down with the companionship they all begin to share during this case because when Tara finds out that their is something in a cave under the pond in Central Park all hail seems to break loose. The story line was good the characters excellent, the adventure and suspense was top shelf. Adult content. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really like the world-building in this story. We get more background on the Phoenix development, especially with 2 of the team being new Phoenixes. I really didn't like Tara, she came across as too abrasive. She was arrogant and I found her grating. Even as she starts to mellow in the story, I never found her likable. Each of the guys were very distinctive when being described by someone else, but their voices all read the same when it was their POV. These four were all so different; different ages, different experiences, different backgrounds, and yet I kept having to check the chapter headings to see whose chapter it was. I did like the concept of the story and I liked getting to see more of the creatures in this world.

This is the second book in the series and just as enjoyable as the first! I really enjoy the writing style and all of the characters are likeable. The story is engaging and it's easy to lose yourself for a few hours. I liked that characters from the first book made an appearance. I would have liked the last chapter, or epilogue, to have been with Tara as her life had changed the most. The only downside to having so many main characters is not having time to truly explore each person in depth. Either book could have been made into a series of it's own. Saying that, I am hooked now and can't wait to read the next book!

Tara is an FBI agent working on a mysterious case. People are disappearing and no one can find them or who is taking them. She teams up with four Griffin shifters to uncover the group that is taking the humans. As they move forward, things become more dangerous~ Tara discovered the abductors in the Underground sewers! They chase her but she gets away. Now, she will have to employ the help of many different shifters to help overcome these creatures! Will they wipe out these creatures? Will she be able to rescue all the humans imprisoned in Purgatory? She starts dating the four Griffin shifters and there are many steamy scenes in the book~ I received this ARC via Book sprout and am leaving a voluntary review.

This is the second book in the Phoenix Night shifter series. The story is well written and keep you turning the pages with all the action, twist, turns, and passion of the characters.

Tara is a strong, tough and determined FBI agent, because of her profession has to prove to be better than one of the boys. On a case in New York of a lost boy she works with four agents of a specialized unit to help keep the city safe from the mysteries of the underworld.

These agents make her feel special and wanted as never before. Even as the agents themselves struggle at being who they are, with memories of the past as well as being newly crossbred that the Fates see as necessary to have created.

Loved the book it was great the story was well written and the characters were interesting. Special Agent Tara Winslow was pulled in to investigate a child that went missing her boss told her that he wants the child found and alive, she was all so given 4 male NYPD they have been on it for a little while. The four men Adonis, Adrien, Thaddeus and Todd introducing themselves to Tara, they battle over who is in charge. There is a lot of emotions through out this story, and a lot of chemistry between them all.

Take an FBI agent, who is a ballbreaker under normal circumstances and give her the paranormal to deal with! This makes for some intersting scenarios! Tara has to deal with 4 hot guys, the team from a special unit she needs to liaise with to find a missing boy, but not is all as it seems! She lands into the middle of the supernatural with the team and the missing boy!
All in all a good story but please note it is not the total HEA we all would like! I did enjoy the tale nonetheless and look forward to more!

Exciting Phoenix Shifter RH Adventure!
Wonderful continuation of The Phoenix Night Shift series with a whole new cast of characters. FBI Special Agent Tara Winslow joins Captain Adonis and his Phoenix Squad to find/rescue a missing boy in Central Park and discovers a whole lot more than she bargained for. A great fast paced adventure full of drama, danger, suspense, twists, humor, plenty of secrets, new paranormal enemies, fighting, hot steamy romance and nice HEA. Enjoy!

Second book in the Phoenix romance series. People were missing and now a child. She’s been called in to take over the investigation. The local pd aren’t going to like the FBI trying to take control. Especially when the pd is four phoenixes who know way more than a human FBI agent. Tara is about to have her eyes opened to whole new world. Add in the four men that are definitely different and something more. Of course they are also gorgeous pains in her butt. Tons of action and fighting. But things will heat up when her four partners become more.

This book gets 4.5 of 5 stars and it was an amazing read. I loved reading about the characters and everything they went through but it felt like something was missing. I think I just wanted more from the guys POV's and not just a few chapters. But I still enjoyed the book and I would love to read more about them and whatever their future is holding.

The story in it self is not bad and I enjoyed this second story about phoenix shapeshifters, but this arc version at least was a little disorganized and out of place. I also wish the caracter of Tara was not so independent and that the four phoenixes were more open about what they wanted. I did like the story, I just wish it reach a little deeper into the caracters.

Tara has been monitoring the increasing number of missing persons, some of them out-of-towners. Now that a child is involved, the FBI is definitely involved. She must coordinate with an NYPD Special Unit to work together to eradicate this threat. But there are surprises in store for them all. Serve is an exciting novel in the Phoenix Night Shift series that I enjoyed.

I have read quite a few of Laura Wylde books and have loved them. This book I felt did not flow well, it seemed to jump from one thing to another. You never really new how the scene got there. It was a nice story idea. Tara did come out really hash then all of sudden she was not that way. We did learn a lot about other shifters including them.
