Grace is a girl who LOVES FRIENDS! Once she goes to camp she meets new people and becomes their friend. Grace may be at camp but her parents still have high expectations for her. Just imagine having to READ for your whole summer! That is how she ended up if she wanted to stay at camp!

Took a while to finish this book (could've read it in a day, I just got super distracted over the weeks I had to read this).
Great book, probably one of the best ones in the series.
I like how Grace learns to hold herself accountable, dig in her heels and really stick to her goals throughout this story. She may be a fun-loving individual, but she realizes that slacking off can make things like hanging out with her friends less fun (plus they'd hold her back eventually). Plus we get to see characters deal with a bully, alongside procrastination.
(It's okay Grace, I get it, sometimes it's hard to focus on reading when your mind is somewhere else.)
And that mean girl reminded me of someone I knew in high school. Thankfully she is not a part of my life anymore, the character reminded me of how draining people like her can be to actually be friends with. It's a constant game of hot and cold with these meanies, they'll straight up smile at you while saying the most horrific things, then play it off as a joke and act all buddy-buddy the next.
It's interesting how we see Bunk 3C's dynamics develop, and really sweet how their friendship is stronger through the rougher days. Nat and Alyssa teasing Grace for crushing on Simon was so funny, plus all the 3C girls hanging out was a joy to watch (minus Chelsea's rude remarks, of course!).
I found myself smiling and feeling warm all over reading 'Best Friends'. Honestly, Melissa J. Morgan did an excellent job writing this, it captured a lot of nostalgia, warmth and weekend vibe one could hope for from a slice-of-life series.
Can't wait to read the next one!

I feel like Grace’s struggle of not having a camp best friend is relatable. It’s nice to be liked by everyone but when you see everyone around you pairing off it feels lonely like you’re still being left out.

She ends up making a new friend from a rival bunk but things don’t go as smoothly as she planned. One moment this girl will be nice and friendly to her but the next will act like it’s a big inconvenience to be seen with her. She only wants to hangout on her terms and when it benefits her. Grace could see the warning signs but she kept giving her the benefit of the doubt because she longed for a camp best friend but she finally learns to stand up for herself and not put up with that kind of behavior.

This book is good at highlighting the importance of friendship: what it means to be a best friend, how to act like a good friend, and how not having a best friend is okay.
It shows the difference between friends joking around vs someone being mean/ a bully to another person. Grace dealing with Gaby took way too long and I cringed as I had to read it, but I do think it’s important for the intended audience to see it play out that way. No pun intended.
The other topics of the book focused on boys and reading, which were decently addressed as well.

Grace’s Twist By Melissa J. Morgan
160 pages
Realistic Fiction/Mystery

The third book to the Camp Confidential series is Grace’s Twist. This is one of those sad stories about bullying. Grace is a sweet, kind girl that everyone should try to be like. She figures out that she has friends, but everyone else at camp has one best friend. This way, she is usually the third wheel or left alone. Grace decided to try to fix this problem. She suddenly became really good friends with a girl from their rival bunk. Grace is bullied into thinking this girl is a good friend. Her so called friend shuts doors in her face, pretends to be mean then nice then mean again, and tries to fool Grace into keeping her company while she is in trouble. Lucky for Grace, she has true friends that teach her that it is better to have many friends then just one friend and they give her the courage to stand up and follow through with promises. I decided to give this book four stars because it is a really good come back after the first two really good books. Melissa really figured out how to bring each girls problem out and show ways that are possible in the real world.

As the third book in the series, I honestly didn't remember the story line too much. I feel like this book in particular is so relatable because it happens all the time! Just like the last books, I enjoy the character development that happens for Grace throughout the book. It's also great in contrast to Gabby's character non-development. I honestly thought they were going to become friends in the end anyways, but it's very real to not having a "happy ending" in every aspect which I thought was great. It also made sense but it's also very much like real life; sometimes you just can't change people and not everyone is meant to be your friend. However, just as you would hope that her bunkmates had her back, they definitely did to the fullest and that was a great thing to see. This story was more heartwarming and exciting than the others. Great quick read!

I kinda like this series but this one I didn't care for. This is where Grace wants to befriend the bully from the opposite bunk and afterwards has to reject her when she gets to be "too much." Now think about it: we are taught to love all people regardless of the situation, so what is this teaching us? That we "should not" reach out to different people? Where's the part whgerein the bully has a human side? It doesn't show!!! There has to be a better way to talk to kids about friendship than...THIS!

This is the easiest book i've ever read! literally. it was decent. if you have some spare time read it, but don't read it instead of books like Harry Potter, Hunger Games, or The Princess Bride. Its more for tweens than teens, so note that. Its not at all like Potter, Hunger, ect. its only about 120 pages and straight to the point.

3rd in the "Camp Confidential" series. This one features Grace and how she must learn to deal with a bully from another bunk. On top of that, she's afraid to let her friends know the reason why she can't audition for the play, nor go with them to the water park. Nothing here to stand out above other books, but those that liked the first two in the series will probably enjoy.

I liked this one more then I did the last. Maybe because I could relate to Gracie somehow. I don't know why. Anyway still love the camp idea, I am going through these pretty quick. These are good for kids maybe 12 ish. But overall not too bad. I will continued with the others.

3/5 for me

Grace is my current favorite girl in bunk 3C! I love her kindness and spunk. I think the author could have better served the audience by attributing Grace's difficulty reading to a learning disability and showing how she works through it, but the story was still fun and interesting.

Out of the first four this was the best! It got to be almost suspenceful! It was filled with drama and actual acting drama. Grace got the lead part in the play when no other third division girl has ever done! She played as a wonderful Wendey in Peter Pan.

This book was awesome! Grace has some problems with her parents and stuff, but Grace is a lot like me! Always trying to be funny and energetic, Grace is the best camper at Camp Lakeview!
