"He was never meant to fall for her. But some laws are made to be broken."

He was her guardian angel, bound by the sacred laws of Celestium to watch over her from afar. She was a reckless human, navigating a harsh world with relentless ambition and a soul unlike any other. From the moment he first glimpsed her light, he knew she was extraordinary — but as he watched her endure cruelty, loneliness, and unimaginable loss, the boundaries of his duty began to blur.

When her life takes a devastating turn, he makes an impossible choice. Breaking every rule that governs his kind, he descends to Terravyn, the planet she calls home, to find her. To guide her. To save her. All while keeping his forbidden actions a secret from the forces that would strip him of everything.

She battles more than the world around her — facing the toxicity of others, the weight of isolation, and the scars left by her own pain. Yet within her burns an unyielding resolve to endure, to fight, and to find the happiness she’s always dreamed of.

As their paths intertwine in defiance of celestial law, they must navigate a fragile balance between love, destiny, and the dangers of their growing connection. But will their bond be her salvation — or will it shatter the fragile barriers holding back a darker fate?

A tale of forbidden love, resilience, and the cost of breaking the rules, this dark fantasy will leave you questioning whether redemption is worth the price of defiance.

I have finished reading my ARC copy of 'Chaotic Guidance' written by Daria Malaunt. This is a dark fantasy and the second book in a standalone series that is called 'Devine destinies'.

"This is just part of the soul's journey. Bright souls... they burn the hottest, flaring up like matches only to burn out quickly."

On forehand I was told that the book would start really slow, but I didn't experience it that way. The story builds slow, yes, but everything that is described is part of the bigger story and has its own significance. I think it's written in a way that makes it a really easy read and I'm intruiged by the story and how unique it is, which made that I wanted to now what would come next ASAP.

"Tomorrow would bring new beginnings and perhaps, just maybe, a story worth remembering."

Are you looking for a new book boyfriend? Than I would recommend Damian.
Damian and Kara are the main characters in this dark and spicy fantasy.
They are part of a world full of toxicity, were there is a big contrast between a violent world and the pure luck of being in love. They have to face lingering hurt of a life too harsh to bare, full of grief and sadness.

"This is a dream, right? Just another nightmare."

This book has a deep background story that contains all forms of mental health and the strength of humans in a world that sometimes only seems to be dark.
Problems of reality are smartly woven into this fantasy with a lot of love able elements. Making it not only a story fitting in the current society, but also an really interesting read. A story were you can empathize with the characters, but can also feel some form of recognition.
I loved this story because of how unique is it and how it steered me in the wrong direction with every exciting plottwist at the end of the story. I give it five stars.

DNF @ pg.165.

I thought the first 10 chapters or so were entirely unnecessary. The story starts at present time in the Prologue, then it's *whiplash* back to when Kara was six years old and gradually goes through... Every... Single... Part of her life. Instead of being this detailed without actually developing any relevant plot line, these moments can be woven into the story as the plot and storyline move along. To advertise this as a slow burn romance is inaccurate: Slow burn doesn't mean slow plot development; it means slow relationship development. As of right now, Kara seems to have no clue what a relationship is.

Perhaps my biggest grievance was Kara's entire life story is outlined from Damien's POV within the first two chapters. NOT a good move! Now I know exactly how her life is going to run before even diving into the book. This takes the mystery out of it. It also takes the possibility that Damien could analyze those situations in the moment out of the equation. If he is so preceptive of Kara's nature, why not let him analyze the moment in real time, rather than anticipating and predicting every move beforehand? It would also help develop his character much more than what is currently written. He appears stagnant and stuck in his role as guardian. If he's supposed to end up as a love interest, I don't see it. I haven't fallen in love with him.

I wanted to like this one because it is a good idea- Guardian angels and divine intervention and a deep dive into trauma and mental health awareness. The author works to bring light to topics such as suicide, abuse, neglect, and toxic relationships. However, I don't know that the writing reflects those ideas elegantly. I had to repeat the mantra Show me. Don't tell me. the entire time.

I appreciate the opportunity to read this as an ARC, though I think at this point I would categorize it more as a rough draft than a finished work.

I had high hopes for this book, as the premise of a guardian angel and the person they are tasked to protect wanting to be together despite the impossibility of their relationship is an intriguing and exciting concept—forbidden romance at its finest. However, the execution could have benefited from further editing and refinement.

But let's start with what I liked about this book!
The book addresses themes like grief, abuse, suicide and toxic relationships, and I found the portrayal of how different characters cope with trauma and how it changes them very interesting and well done. Some scenes were hard to read but deeply moving, and I appreciated how the FMC eventually emerges stronger from these challenges. The author doesn't gloss over the hard parts of dealing with trauma but still handles them thoughtfully and realistically.

I thought the worldbuilding was very well done as well! The concept of guardian angels, their roles, and the rules they follow was fascinating, and I was especially intrigued by the angels around Damien. I would have loved to explore this aspect in more depth but unfortunately, some things made me reluctant to continue, and I ultimately decided to stop reading.

The pacing at the beginning was very slow. While I quite liked the writing style, it was at times overly detailed, with sentences that were unnecessarily long and laden with multiple commas. There was a lot of information that didn’t seem to contribute to the plot or character development, leading to a feeling of telling rather than showing. The dialogue often felt forced and unnatural.

I also didn’t fully connect with the romance. The beginning focused heavily on Kara’s childhood (like 25-30%), but then the sexual tension with the MMC escalated quickly once she turned 19. I personally felt uncomfortable with the idea of him watching her grow up and interacting with her in her dreams while she was a child. While I understand that his role as her guardian angel inherently involves observing her, the shift in the romance didn’t sit well with me. That said, it’s a personal preference, and others may feel differently.

I also struggled to connect with the characters, especially the MMC. His character felt inconsistent to me, as his personality seemed to shift suddenly, especially in his desire for revenge.

I am grateful to have received an ARC of this book, though ultimately, it wasn’t the right fit for me.

So I decided I would go into reading Chaotic Guidance without reading the previous book.

It didn’t hinder my enjoyment or response to the book.

Chaotic Guidance is a slow burn with huge character and world building. I believe this helps the book progress and draw you in to the world that belongs to Kara and Damian.

Dari A. Malaunt is able to talk about ‘Taboo’ subjects that are either not talked about or are dismissed in a way that is very mature and honest, making this book not for the weaker reader but very much for those who would like to relate somewhat to the characters and the world they are reading.

While the spice comes towards the middle and end of the book, it most definitely is spicy. Its heart pounding atmosphere will give any reader some spicy sweats while they try and not physically kick their legs in the air squealing.

The world building is so important with books like this and Dari A. Malaunt does it beautifully. Allowing any reader to really see the world how she wants you to see it.

The characters are also written with pure intention and emotion meaning that you don’t feel lost in why or how a character is acting because Dari A. Malaunt is a magician when it comes to writing. You are left clinging onto Damian while your heart is in the palms of Kara.

I will be keeping a close watch on this Author as Dari A Malaunt is clearly talented and her books mirror that.

This book started slow. But the slow burn is exactly what this book needed for such a hot and passionate ending. 🥵 I was not sure i would finish it as I normally am not one for a slow burn but the characters draw you in. You ache for their story and fall in love as they do.

I really enjoyed this book! I have not read dark romances in a while and I have generally stayed away from a lot of books that talk about taboo subjects since I read A Little Life a few years ago. However, this book… it was so good! I can’t get over the main characters and their relationship! It was truly a great journey that brought the reader from the start of the FMC’s life to how the relationship started and how they navigated all the intricacies of life. Truly a great read, and a book that recieves my highest recommendation!

This was an ARC read, and an amazing opportunity! I want to thank the author and their team for choosing me to review this book!

I had the privilege of reading the ARC of Chaotic Guidance. The story takes you on a journey of trials that are FMC Kara must endure. Your heart can’t help but go out for her. It is a beautiful story of how the human spirit can conquer pain and still find beauty all around you. Damien is a guardian angel that can’t just sit on the sidelines. It is a forbidden love that he can’t just walk away from if you love, he falls first, he would burn the world down for you, slow burn. This story is for you. Don’t miss out on this incredible story coming out on April 6th. Highly recommend. Happy reading!!!!!

I’ve gotten the lucky opportunity to read this book as an ARC reader and YALL! @dariamalaunt ‘s writing is incredible! You get sucked into the world and fall in love with the characters. The way she writes so that you get to know the characters as a whole allowed me to feel such a deep connection to our main characters. Also, if you love a book boyfriend who calls the FMC sunshine and is (literally) an angel this book is right up your alley! 10/10 recommend you check this book out when it comes out on April 6th!

Chaotic Guidance is the second book in the series but lord let me tell you I’m in love!!! Daria has a way of sucking you in from the very beginning, and never letting go! This book is definitely not for the weak, it touches on a lot of stuff that is very real in the world but not usually spoken about. Kara and Damian are absolutely breathtaking in every way possible and I’m so sad the book ended cause I want morreee! Her way of describing the characters and the landscape are absolutely captivating and I would definitely give this book a shot if you want a good romantasy book!!

I really loved the first volume in the Divine Destinies series, Infernal Ascendancy, and I started the second volume, Chaotic Guidance, with the same excitement. However, I think I shouldn’t have been quite so enthusiastic, because the beginning was a bit harder for me to get through, and by that, I mean specifically the timeline. It was a little confusing for me to move between present and past. I’m not sure why, since I usually don’t have trouble with that, but maybe the consistency of the timeline felt a bit too dense, as it was packed with introspection at times and I don’t usually get along well with introspection 🫣.

I don’t want to be misunderstood, this is just my personal preference, not an issue with the story. On the contrary, the introspection and details helped build the universe, clarified certain elements, and contributed to a very strong character development. Once I got used to it, it was really good, and I truly enjoyed the story 🥰.

I was spoiled with a double perspective, that of Kara, a ballerina, and Damian, her guardian angel.
I followed Kara right from her beginnings, with Damian by her side. But as she grew older and her problems became more complex, Damian’s involvement reached a whole new level 🫣.

Kara was surrounded by loss, by people she loved deeply who chose a different path, by cruelty and loneliness. And in the midst of this whirlwind of events and emotions, she tried to stay strong and not let herself fall apart.
On the other hand, Damian was battling his own feelings, as emotions started to awaken within him, emotions that had no place in his “job” and could even jeopardize his position.

But what can you do when the heart beats louder than reason?

Dari pays great attention to details, and that’s evident in her stories. This is the second book I’ve read by her, and she managed to stir a whirlwind of emotions within me once again. Everything is so well crafted, nothing left to chance. The story feels incredibly real, the tension is on point, and even though it’s a fictional tale, you find pieces of yourself in her characters. I definitely found myself in them.

Dari writes with soul, for the soul. And although her stories are dark fantasy, they strike a deep emotional chord 🖤.

I received an ARC of "Chaotic Guidance," and I’m excited to share my honest review. This is the first book I’ve read by Dari A. Malaunt, and it certainly left me with a positive impression of the author and her writing style.

Let me start with the aspects I loved about this book! 😍

Firstly, I enjoyed every single trope presented in the story. Some of my favorites include:

- Forbidden love
- Stalking
- An age gap

The spice is 👩🏼‍🍳💋 and definitely worth the wait. The slow burn is genuinely a slow burn 🔥—this couple is well worth the wait, let me tell you! 😫

I also appreciate how the author addresses the sensitive topic of suicide without glossing over it. She took the necessary time to handle this subject with care. In general, the author explores heavier themes in a thoughtful manner, though I must admit it isn’t always an easy read and your heart might break a little with the female’s background story. 😅

Overall, it’s a fantastic love story with great world-building, likable characters, and compelling backstories. Even though I hadn’t read the previous book in the series, I was able to understand the world and enjoy the story as a whole.

However, the main reason I rated it 3 ⭐️ instead of 5 is that some dialogues felt unnatural and awkward at times (this was not the case for all conversations, but it did stand out to me). Dialogue is a significant part of my reading experience, and this issue cost the book one star. Additionally, I found the beginning a bit slow—not the slow burn between the main male and female characters, which I loved, but the overall pacing felt slow for the first 35-45%. For it to have earned a 5 ⭐️ rating from me, the conversations would have needed to flow more naturally (though I understand that perceptions of dialogue can be highly subjective, so you might absolutely love their interactions), and the story should have felt like a page-turner from the very first page.

In summary, this is definitely a worthwhile read. I will certainly pick up the first book and continue with this series when the other books are released.❤️

This was the second book in Divine Destinies series, created by Dari A. Malaunt. And boy did it leave me speechless.

The story dances delicately between the realms of the divine and the human, exploring suffering not as a cruel accident of life, but as a choice - a mysterious, soul-level agreement that both protagonists must honor, and making it even harder - the FMC is not aware of the pact that was made before she was born. Through every heartbreak and trial, there's a quiet echo: "You chose this". She chose this, and the author reminds it in the most subtle way, both to us and to MMC, and strangely, that makes the pain feel not meaningless, but holy, with reason.

What sets this book apart isn’t just imaginative world-building, though it's breathtaking. It's the emotional architecture behind it - the idea that even in a universe ruled by celestial laws, love still manages to be the most chaotic and lawless force of all. The love story at the heart of this book is raw and defiant, not the kind built on flirtation or fate, but on shared wounds, either by experience or by watching, and unshakable presence. It doesn't just defy logic - it devours it, making every event seem to happen at the right place, at the right time.

Ultimately, this is a story about endurance, about the messy, beautiful resilience of a soul that keeps choosing to stay, even when given many reasons to leave throughout it's life. It's for anyone who’s ever asked, "Why me?" - and found comfort not in the answer, but in the asking, for those, who are looking to find something worth fighting for, to live beyond their pain.

5 star read!! Wow!

End line- ‘This was heaven, this was paradise, and I never wanted to leave.” … Anddddd that’s exactly how I felt finishing this story - I could now totally read another few hundred pages of what happens next.. cause that last chapter was HOTTTT🔥

This whole story was absolutely heart wrenching, the struggles our FMC went through was unimaginable, and how she overcame all that pain and trauma with the help of her Angel🥰

‘Here, in the stillness of the night, we were home. Together.’

I did read book 1, and even though these are standalones, I was sooo happy at the connections from the first book, I did however know what was coming in a sense, and I’m still not over the heartbreak of book 1, I do believe reading book 1, makes the last few chapters of this story more emotional hitting!

And omg the slow burn love story of our main characters, it was just so pure, he was her salvation in every way, as she was his - ‘Because even angels needed someone to catch them when they fell.’ 🪽

A raw, deep, forbidden love story with a somewhat happy ending (you’ve shocked me there Dari😂)

‘She had wished for love, and now she had it — she had me.’

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I went into this book without reading the first in the series, but that didn’t take away from my experience at all—which I loved!

The world and characters are so well-developed that following along felt effortless. While the more passionate moments take a while to arrive, they hit hard when they do. The tension is absolutely electric, and I caught myself holding my breath more than once.

What stood out to me:
Forbidden love – The emotional intensity had me hooked.
🖤 Darker, obsessive themes – They kept me on edge in the best way.
Age gap romance – It added an intriguing dynamic to the story.

The romance unfolds at a slow, deliberate pace, but trust me—the wait is worth it. 🔥

Why I didn’t give it 5 stars:
⭐ At times, the pacing felt a bit jumpy.
⭐ Some conversations felt unnecessary and didn’t really add to the story.
⭐ This book starts slow. Even though I was expecting it, it still took me a while to get through the first 10 or so chapters.

Final thoughts:
Chaotic Guidance is an emotionally charged and deeply immersive love story. The characters are layered, the world-building is rich, and the romance is the perfect mix of tension and passion. Even without reading the first book, I felt completely connected to the story and loved every moment of it—despite a few pacing issues.

                         CHAOTIC GUIDANCE

                          by Dari A Malaunt

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

🌶️🌶️/5

**Please read the list of triggers before reading**

** Your mental health matters **

This book is definitely explores the bitter side of life. Trials of loss, pain and loneliness. Our FMC chooses to grow through some of the hardest trials life can throw at a mortal.

Who says fate can't be changed?

Dual POV between our MMC Damian, an angel who guides souls through their chosen lives and FMC Kara, the mortal with a soul that shines bright and strong.

The first half of the book is full of gorgeous world building setting the stage for how our main characters souls end up woven into a love trying to survive.

The slow burn in the first half really builds the tension for the explosive passionate desires that doesn't over shadow the soul deep love between our characters.  The delivery of spice hits right where it's needed to enrapture you in the story but doesn't take away from the overall plot.

Overall, this was a book that kept giving and right when you aren't sure it pulls you back in each time.

I received a ARC copy of Chaotic Guidance and I'm overjoyed to write my honest review.
This is not the first book I have read by her.
I also read Infernal Ascendancy (the first book in the series).
The first time I read her words was in the duology horned unveil series.
The way she captivates a character and their point of view is beyond words.
This book is still in the world of the first one but in this one we learn about a girl and her guardian angel's forbidden love.
The way she approaches the hard topics in this book are so emotionally correct is so amazing.
This book helped heal some things for me for sure and thank you for that Dari.
This book has a slow burn in the beginning but it is so worth it to keep reading.
You will learn about the FMC and her life as she wants to be a ballerina.
Her struggles make her stronger and the ending had me all in my feels.
I couldn't put the book down when I started reading it. Every chapter made me crave for more.
In conclusion,
This book does have trigger warnings so please pay attention to those to make sure this is the right book for you to read.
This book is phenomenal and I can't wait to read more of Dari's words. 🥹💗

Chaotic Guidance by Dari is a dark fantasy romance that absolutely delivers on atmosphere and slow-burn tension. The pacing starts off slow, but once the tension builds, it’s well worth the wait. The romance is a slow-burner in the best sense—deep, intense, and full of simmering emotions, with spice that hits just the right notes.

What really impressed me was the world-building. Dari has crafted a rich and immersive universe that feels alive and full of depth. Every detail of the world felt carefully considered, from its complex magic systems to the intricately layered politics and history. I found myself getting lost in this world, eagerly wanting to know more about its mysteries.

As for the characters, the development felt natural and compelling. The chemistry between the leads was palpable, and I loved how their relationship evolved over time. The emotional depth added weight to their connection, making every moment between them feel earned and impactful.

If you’re a fan of dark fantasy with a steamy, slow-burn romance and strong world-building, Chaotic Guidance is definitely worth a read. My only critique is that the pacing may be a bit too slow for some, but I personally found it part of the charm. Overall, I’d rate this a solid 4/5—well worth diving into for fans of the genre!

I had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. I read it directly after reading the first book Infernal Ascendancy. This book is a slow burn with a good deal of dark subject matter. While this book is the second in a series it works well as a stand alone. There are a few side characters in this book that appear are more prominent characters in book 1. I found that I had more background information having read book 1 first. Book 1 was good but not amazing, so I really enjoyed seeing how much the author had grown in their writing since the first book. There is a greater depth to their writing and I found this book easier to read. If you like darker subject matter with a supernatural flair then I’d recommend giving this book a try, just know the action doesn’t start picking up until around Chapter 11.

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book 😍 I went in completely blind having not read the first book in the series and I can honestly say it did not take anything away from my understanding of this world or my enjoyment of this story! 🤩

This book is full of angels and magic. It's about guardian angels and how our souls live many lives in many different worlds! The world building was epic throughout the book and it was really easy to understand and follow.

It's a dual POV (which I always luv) it's about forbidden love and it's spicy too 🌶😉 We follow the MC's through various dangerous choices and battles which had me gasping out loud at times!

It is a chunky book and was a bit heavy at times as it does touch on some difficult subjects including mental health issues, grief, suicide, loss, controlling relationships. There was so much suffering for the FMC 😢 Please read responsibly and check the trigger warnings before commencing.

In places this book reminded me of the film City Of Angels 😇 which stars Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage 🤩

I don't feel like my words do this book justice! 🙈 I really enjoyed this book. If it sounds like a world you would like to explore I would thoroughly recommend it 👍 I can't wait to dive into more worlds written by this author 😀 🫶

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Chaotic Guidance is a beautifully crafted story about a guardian angel and the girl he's tasked with protecting. The author’s writing is captivating—gripping yet accessible, and the world-building is exceptional.

The character development is one of the book's strongest aspects. The girl’s emotional struggles and growth are depicted with great depth, making her journey both authentic and moving. The guardian angel, who breaks the rules of his kind, also experiences his own growth, and their evolving relationship is the heart of the story.
While the pacing is a slow burn, the emotional payoff is well worth it. The book is filled with raw emotion, from the girl’s personal battles to the intimate moments shared between her and the angel. The slow build-up allows for a deeper connection between the characters, making every moment feel earned.
In conclusion, Chaotic Guidance is an emotionally charged, immersive fantasy that blends stunning world-building with powerful character development. The slow-burn romance and emotional depth make it a story that lingers long after the last page. Highly recommended for fans of heartfelt, richly crafted fantasy.

Chaotic Guidance was such an interesting dark fantasy book. I was engaged from the moment I started reading it. It had a lot of ups and downs, twist and turns , forbidden love, breaking rules, resilience, and so much more making you eager wanting to know what was coming next. Just imagine your guardian angel appearing in your dreams making all your exotic wants and needs come to life. He was the man of her dreams, the love of her life, her healer and the person to guide her. Although he was an angel and she was a human, he fought tooth and nail for her always. He made the necessary choices of defiance with the celestial law to save her. Throughout the book, their connection developed into something magical. I loved this book and highly recommend.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This book starts as a slow burn which is needed for the background and world building. Kara and Damien’s story is passionate, caring and spicy. It draws you in from beginning to end.

The story follows the FMC Kara who lives her life filled with struggle and pain whilst the MMC Damien is given Kara to protect and guide. He knows she cannot take any more of the pain and she needs love and is determined to make sure she gets it no matter what.

Dari A Malaaunt beautifully describes the characters and their actions with love and passion and this shows the further you get into the book. Loved this so much

Chaotic Guidance is a Slow burn (in the best way)Dark Romantasy that had me so emotionally invested in Kara and her Morally Grey Guardian Angel Damian. Kara, beautiful and reckless brings us along on a journey filled with tragedy as she grows up in a tough family. Although her life is full of trauma and tragedy there is still so much hope and optimism as she always has her Damian her guardian angel looking out for her.

Their story is slow burn but once it heats up it happens fast. Their story spicy scenes kept me turning those page past my bedtime. I found myself smiling uncontrollably and then the next moment devastated. It has been a long time since l have laughed, cried and blushed in the same chapter!

Dani A Malaunt has a unique way of writing and kept me on my toes until the very end. I need more Kara and Damian!

Despite the book being a slow burn, the author has a way of sucking you into the story from the very beginning. The author's attention to detail and passion for the story are evident from the very beginning. I love how the story progresses and keeps you interested throughout the book. The writing and wording itself are fantastically used to create more interest in the story and the lives of the characters. Overall I am in love with this book and am looking forward to reading other books written by this author.

*Warning* - book does have triggers
This is a slow burn between two forbidden lovers Kara and Damian. The story does start off a little slow with glimpses into both characters pasts as well as thought out world building but picks up around 30% in.
My honest opinion:
In the beginning first half of the books the characters, backgrounds and story lines were well written and many twists and turns. Halfway through the book though the story kind of lost the plot and focused more on the mcs in their intimate moments. The ending felt a little rushed and misplaced especially the last chapter. I wished there was more written about the war and why it came to be as well as the outcome. It was a good read and I loved the characters chemistry!
