I downloaded this to review two arcs for this author, this being the second, and despite being a slow reader I read this in one sitting, granted it was a children's book so an easy read but regardless, I was impressed.

Alicia certainly has an old fashioned writing style which fits well with this genre. The characters were darling and the plot was so fun and lighthearted but still kept me on my toes.

Her style reminded me of a young Enid Blyton. I can imagine children loving this. Well done!

Firstly, thank you Alicia for sending me a copy of your book to read! I thoroughly enjoyed it and am really excited to see this book succeed and where this series goes!

When Alicia reached out to me it was because I re-read Enid Blyton books a lot and she felt her book had a similar feel! I absolutely agree, I think there are subtle moral/education moments throughout that are reminiscent of how Enid Blyton wrote her books!

I did initially think “wow this is a lot of characters” when I first started reading, but as the book went on I think the style of the writing really helped it not become too sort of overwhelming or difficult to work out and remember who was who! The guinea pigs go on some really wholesome and sometimes challenging adventures during the book to get back to their home and there are some brilliant messages of teamwork and friendship, resilience and hope! I also liked that the rats as the “enemy” had their own, more of an emotional, journey and the ending felt perfect for the style of the book!

The only “negative” I had isn’t really a negative as such, it was just at points the book felt perhaps a bit too young, and because of the length of the book it might be a bit long for a younger child! But I don’t think any of the overall themes etc. were wrong for a younger child, they just might need a parent to read with them!

I think for Alicia’s first book, this is fantastic and something to be incredibly proud of! I will certainly be keeping an eye out for the next book!

This children’s book was honestly so sweet and a lovely read.
The book follows guinea pigs - the main character being, of course, Perri- as they are kicked out of their home by rats and later have to try and return back and reclaim their home.
While Alicia Lloyd’s writing is rather old-fashioned and could be taken back in her YA books, it worked well in Perri, reminding me of the style of a much younger version of the Secret Seven by Enid Blyton and so on.
This was definitely Alicia’s best written book and although there were a few word choice issues there wasn’t much problems with this book.
This was a very enjoyable read and I would definitely recommend it to young children!

What an amazing read. It was so amazing reading about guinea pig and rat journey. I love this books and I think it’s amazing for children especially since I believe that you can learn from it that you should not take someone’s things from them by force and instead ask to share things.

this book is not the best written books I ever read. It is for children, and I had a good time reading it. But this book was full of love. I NEVER read a book with more love in it than this one. I know the author loved her girl the same I loved my baby Georges, and I spent most time crying reading it. Thanks, Alicia, for this.

Before I officially begin this review, let me first give a very big thank you to the author, Alicia Lloyd, for considering me and sending an online copy of this book to me. Thank you, Ms. Lloyd. I’m beyond grateful you’ve given me this chance to read this book!

This book follows Perri, a guinea pig who, along with her fellow guinea pigs, are thrown out of Strawberry town by a group of rats. They journey together to reclaim their hometown, meeting some new characters on the way. My favorite character was definitely Archie the stray, he was very sweet.

The writing style truly is reminiscent of Enid Blyton, a childhood author of mine. Even if this book is written for a younger audience in mind, I do believe it is a very lighthearted story that is worth a read.

I had only one glaring issue which was the word choice in certain paragraphs, sometimes it felt as if the characters and their actions were being explained or described rather than being shown, which I believe is a critical rule to be followed in the art of writing.

Regardless, I think this is a generally very well-rounded book, and I hope to see more of Perri in the near future. Thus, I give this a four out of five stars. Bravo!

Tiktok review coming soon, hehe.

In my opinion, this is Alicia's strongest book. At only sixteen, she is already so successful with her writing and dedication to her craft but I do believe that this particular story is above and beyond anything I've ever read by her before.

As her first children's, I was unsure what to expect going in. What I found was a lovely little novel, filled with morals and education, as well as the most darling characters. It reminded me of Enid Blyton, who I loved as a child.

I know that the paperback edition will be filled with lots of lovely illustrations created by Emma Smith and so I am very much looking forward to seeing those!

I really enjoyed Perri. The characters worked really well, especially for the age the book is aimed at, and I loved the scenes in the pet shop. I also wasn't expecting humans to come into the story at all, so when that first happened it genuinely surprised me 😂

I used accessibility tools to read it, but I actually didn't want to pause when I had to, which is probably one of the best things I can say about a book 😂 By the end I was left wanting more.

I think this would be a really good book for younger readers, including children who struggle with reading. I'm dyslexic and if I'd had something like this when I was a kid, I still would've found reading difficult, but it's the kind of story I would've wanted to keep trying with.

Definitely one I'd recommend, especially for younger animal lovers.
