An incredibly-written workplace romance with undeniable chemistry, sizzling tension, and so much more 🤩🔥 A definite 6-star read for me 🥰
⭐ Rating Criteria ⭐
💛 Plot:
Right from the start, this book had my heart in a chokehold. I knew I was going to love it even from just a few chapters into it. From Kira and Warren's undeniable chemistry at the start, to the slow burn development, up to the moment it all came together - this was a masterpiece of a romance book 🥰
The cherry on top of this beautiful, sweet treat was the mental health representation ❤️ This is also where I feel I connected with the characters - the way Kira was written just resonated with me on a deeper level. The author did a wonderful job at writing a character diagnosed with Major Depressive disorder. The scenes wherein Kira gets “the spins” were so raw and vulnerable, but most of all, realistic - it almost seemed like I was in her shoes, feeling what she felt in those moments. Also, the way that Kira described how she felt whenever she experienced those episodes was so well-written. This is one of the very few books I’ve read that not only portrays those feelings amazingly, but also writes them in a way that readers are able to comprehend and empathize with the character.
💛 Characters:
I could go on a much longer tangent about how the author did such a great job at writing Kira and her experiences, but I’ll limit myself to the whole paragraph above because I also have to talk about Warren! Warren - the man of the hour, my new addition to the list of amazing book boyfriends, the man with such unwavering love and respect for Kira that he, even with his trauma of fishes, adopted Pancake.
This author just knows how to write not only incredible characters, but also unbelievably amazing men that you’d wish existed in real life. Now, I just found out this is the fourth book of a series, but all the other male significant others of Kira’s friend group show up in this one so I know every single one of them are as amazing as Warren. And the level of comfort they all have with each other? I am a sucker for the found family trope, and this one delivers!
In addition to Kira’s friends, we also have her wonderful, loving family who always has her back. With everything she’s been through, I’m glad she has such amazing people surrounding her and giving her that much-needed assurance that she’s not alone and so many people love her.
💛 Writing Style:
If I haven’t complimented this story enough, it was also structured and paced really well. Honestly, it was such an easy read, and even with the heavy topic of depression, it was balanced out really well with the romance and the humor ❤️
💛 Overall:
Wow, did I love reading this! This was amazing. Something about this just captured me, and I cannot explain it. This was perfect - others can say otherwise, but this was chef’s kiss for me ❤️
This was insanely good, and I wish I could read more books like this in the future. With that said, I can’t wait to check out the author’s other works, especially the ones in this series. I’ve got a whole friend group to get to know, and I am excited! 🤩
Thank you so much to Love Notes PR and the author for allowing me to share my honest review of this ARC ❤️
