The Posse #4

Spinning Out Of Control

Rate this book
Kira McKenna has almost everything she wants. A career she loves, friends who double as a cheer squad, and a family that always has her back. The only thing missing? Ownership of Spin Sync, the fitness company she helped build from the ground up.

So when the business is sold out from under her—and to the sexy stranger she shared one very memorable wedding hookup with—Kira is beyond furious.

Warren Yates has money, power, and a soft spot for investing in the future. Buying Spin Sync makes perfect sense…until he realizes it also means going head-to-head with Kira, the fiery fitness instructor who seems determined to make his life miserable.

She thinks he’s her biggest betrayal. He thinks her anger is ridiculously hot. And when they’re forced to work together, the sparks between them start looking a lot less like hate…and a lot more like foreplay.

ARC Review:

This is the final book of the series and it ended with a bang!

Kira is head strong, outspoken, no filter, but a softie at heart.

Warren is reserved, quiet, observant…unless in the bedroom.

Kira and Warren shared a night of passion at a friend’s wedding only to be thrown back together when he becomes her new “boss”. The way he becomes the boss will make your blood boil (but not because of sweet Warren). Who can get mad at a guy with a British accent?! 🤭

Throughout the story the passion and chemistry is 🥵🥵🥵 and I couldn’t get enough of it! Kira climbs the ladder like a pro 😉

Kira was the fun loving friend in the other 3 books, but I was so happy to see her other side and the beautiful way her struggles and her strength through it all were depicted.

More 4 1/2 🌟 An age gap workplace romance with instant chemistry, sizzling tension and a confident female main character who knows exactly who she is! Warren and Kira met at a friend’s wedding and agree to one night together fast forward a few months later Warren is now Kira’s boss. I adored how the author tackled Kira’s mental health and the way her friends and family supported her. Warren fell fast and hard and his support for Kira was a joy to read. This was a really enjoyable read especially if you love a steamy read. I received a complementary copy from Love Notes PR.

Spinning Out Of Control ARC Review

i was very fortunate to receive an ARC of Spinning Out Of Control by Emily Shacklette from LoveNotesPR, thank you so much!! 💛

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

content warning: “on page, open-door detailed sex scenes (PiV, oral sex, anal play, public play, pierced genitalia), fmc with major depressive disorder, suicidal ideation, near-attempt of suicide (off-page and in the past, recounted as a memory). abusive parent (off-page and in the past, recounted as a memory), depressive episodes, alcohol use, fitness instructor fmc with on page fitness classes & motivational fitness jargon”

“her smile is my drug. her laughter is the blood pumping through my body. her pleasure is the song my soul sings. because kira mckenna is my happiness. she makes me delirious with joy.”

this was my first time reading anything by emily and i will definitely be going back and reading the rest of the books in this series ASAP!! i absolutely loved this book so much! it was fun and easy to read and it was full of so much spice!!! with this book being part of a series, i definitely think i would have benefited from reading the first three books in the series and being introduced to the other characters in the story. but i never once felt confused or found it hard to follow along with the characters/storyline! it was so easy to fall in love with the main characters in this story. i fell in love with their individual stories as well as their building romance!

kira and warren had me hooked from the very beginning. from the first time they made she contact, their chemistry was undeniable. and the banter between they was everything. i absolutely adored kira and the way when she wanted something she would take it. and warren was just down bad for kira and just had so much love and respect for her. these two are absolutely perfect for each other and the way they compliment and support each other was the cherry on top.

i can’t wait to read emily’s future work and once again thank you so much to lovenotespr and emily shacklette for providing me with this arc 💛

Spinning Out of Control by Emily Shacklette

REVIEW: four stars (slight spoilers!)

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this one from Love Notes PR and I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity! Kira and Warren's story is truly something special.

This story features the ray of sunshine we all know and love, Kira McKenna and her stupid, British twat-waffle, Warren "Ren" Yates, and takes us along for the rollercoaster that is their sweet and scandalocious (sorry had to make a Wicked reference, I love this word) relationship.

While Kira and Ren start out on a one night stand, Kira quickly spirals into dislike after Ren unknowingly takes an opportunity she has waited years for. While they'll never be able to escape each other, Kira is intent on despising Ren until further notice.

How long will that last exactly?... You'll have to read the book to find out.

One thing I especially loved and appreciated about this book was the mental health rep. Representing mental health in the correct way is something I don't often see in books and this novel did an amazing job representing Kira's major depressive disorder or "the spins" as she likes to call them.

This was my first read of The Posse series and I can definitely say I'll be reading the other three after how much I enjoyed this one! I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a sweet and spicy romance with a mental health rep and strong FMC!

This was so cute! It’s been a really long time since I read a romance book that had me giggling, kicking my feet, and feeling all the feelings. The banter was so much fun, and I absolutely loved Kira! The author did a great job of representing mental health struggles, and what that can mean for someone who is as bubbly and outgoing as Kira. This was the fourth book in the series, and although I haven’t read the first three, the found-family friend group was still super developed and easily understandable. A fun and super cute read!

Tropes:
Work place romance
Age gap
He falls first (major simp)

This book was a really fun, sweet, and super hot 🥵 read!

Warren and Kira are both great characters that you just feel connected to and fall for right away. Warren is older and perhaps a bit buttoned up but secretly less than you think as well. Kira is a total firecracker with a great personality but has her struggles too. I really enjoyed their dynamic and how their feelings and connection grow over the course of the story. I always seem to enjoy the stories where she’s the one fighting her feelings - and fight she does!

On the heat side - you gotta love a man who whines a little into her mouth whenever they make out - 🥵 there’s a really great mix of scenes …expect a guy that’s so gone for her that he’s a simp in the best way but also takes control every now and then 😄

Apart from the romance there is drama with her livelihood and I was feeling the righteous feminine anger alongside Kira - right in there with her!

I also enjoyed the really outgoing fun bunch of friends who talk about *everything* with each other, they are very comfortable with their sx lives and the convos were cracking me up! I’m coming into this series of interconnected standalones at book 4 so I got glimpses and snippets of the other couples and I can’t wait to go back and read their stories.

The writing is strongly in the rom-com vibes being kind of quirky and lighthearted with a really fun writing/prose style.

Overall, this was an entertaining sweet and spicy read. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to read more from this author!

"Spinning Out of Control" was a whirlwind of a read—fast, fun, and packed with spice! If you love an age-gap, workplace romance with a "he falls first and hard" dynamic, this book delivers. Warren was an absolute dream—so devoted, so committed, and his love for Kira was undeniable. Their banter was easily one of my favorite parts, and the Pussy Posse? Pure friendship goals. I loved their dynamic and how they added so much fun to the story.

That being said, I did wish for a little more depth in Kira and Warren’s relationship. While I adored Warren’s dedication, Kira sometimes came across as a bit much for me. I appreciate a confident FMC, but at times, her openness felt a little over the top. And while the spice was definitely there, I found myself wanting more emotional development and serious moments between them.

Overall, this was a quick, steamy, and enjoyable read with great banter and an amazing friend group. If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted romance with plenty of heat, you’ll have a great time with this one! 🔥💕

3.25/3.5 ✨

I feel really indifferent about this book, unfortunately. I was really excited to read it, it sounded really cute and i love the cover. Unfortunately, it just fell kind of flat for me.

Overall, I really loved our MCs, Ren and Kira, I loved watched them fall for each other and their overall personalities. What i was missing was growth. I feel like they really shared really the same? There wasn’t much plot here other than her wanting her company and he just basically immediately deciding to give it to her. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Other than that i feel like I wanted more build between them. I feel like we got some backstory and then they immediately were together and then the book was mainly smut. WHICH IS FINE if that’s what you’re wanting, but i just wanted more plot. I wanted more from the characters and the story as a whole.

Overall, it was alright. I don’t think i’ll remember much of it or it’ll stick with it. Wasn’t bad or good imo. Just was there, i enjoyed it during but just left it wanting more. 😊

You’ll find:
-One Night Stand
-dislike to lovers
-20 year age gap

Another fun and fantastic read from Emily. I just love the Posse and their relationships. Spinning Out of Control is Kira and Warren's story. She's a fitness instructor at Spin Sync and he's a British billionaire in tech. They have mutual friends and he's been pining for her for months, while she has done the same. When they hook up at their friend's wedding, Kira doesn't want any strings and leaves without exchanging information. She was shocked to find out several months later that he bought Spin Sync from her egotistical boss and feels Warren knew about her and the business before they hooked up. Warren does all he can to prove to her that he truly likes her and wasn't out for her business. She finally gives in and they start a relationship. When her former boss starts drama, can Kira overcome it?

Okay, this was such a cute story.

I loved Kira and her fierceness badass personality who has this whole “I get what I want” attitude. And then sweet, “SSF,” British hotness, Warren was such the complimenting MMC to our fierce girl. Their chemistry was so undeniable and the slow burn to getting back to where that chemistry was on fire at the beginning of the book was a fun journey to watch. Kira finally breaking her walls down and realizing how good Warren really is for her and vice versa is a crucial part to this story.
And then let’s talk about the spice!? 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Kira getting to experience Warren’s pierced fun toy has me a jealous girl! 😳

Kira and Warren

Spinning Out of Control ARC

I loved the confidence that Kira had. I couldn't stop laughing in the first 3 chapters. I loved the chemistry between them. The spicy was HOT!!!!!!  For a moment, I forgot they had a 20-year age gap. Her support system was everything, and I liked that Warren looked at her as equal. The man is obsessed with his woman.

Thanks, Love Notes and Emily Shacklette, for the ARC.

*3.5

I don't really ever say this because 9 times out of 10 it doesn't bother me but the beginning of this book had entirely too many taylor swift references. I did like Ren and Kira together and I thought they were cute. However, after they got together almost every chapter was a sex scene. That's cool if you're into that but I wanted to see them go on an actual date.

I received an arc from love notes pr.

The story had potential but the FMC annoyed me and I don’t think Kira and Warren went on one date together, it was just sex most of the time.

Omg omg omg THIS is how you do an age gap romance. I have no words. I am wordless. Because what do you even say after reading the sweetest, sexiest, most delightful and badass book of all time? I guess what you say is, READ THIS BOOK RIGHT FREAKING NOW PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

If you haven't gotten it by now, I loved every last word of Spinning Out Of Control. I devoured it . I laughed, I cried, I kicked my heels in glee and pumped my fist all GIRL YES. I would have read 678655678 more words of Kira and Ren just being themselves. I never wanted it to end.

Kira is my new favorite FMC of all time. As a brilliant, badass fitness instructor, she is fun, funny, and complete sunshine with deep, deep depths. She loves her friends and the men who love them, she's passionate about her work, and she is trying REALLY HARD not to like Ren, her mega hot one night stand turned sort of boss.

And sweet baby Ren, all he wants is to love the girl. He is "if he wanted to he would," he falls first, green flags all around personified.

And the two of them together? RENT FREE IN MY HEAD UNTIL THE END OF TIME. I'm obsessed with them. With the way Ren slowly and methodically shows Kira that she can trust him. With the way he supports her in absolutely all the things and never does not live in absolute awe of her. With the way Kira opens up her heart to him and trusts him with her deepest depths, knowing that her heart is safe with him. With the way he cares for her and loves her with absolutely everything he has. I die. They are perfect. Romance couple hall of fame.

This is, of course, a love story between two people destined for each other, but it's also a love story to family - the one we are born into and the one we make for ourselves along the way. Kira's family is amazing - her dads, her brother, and her Tia are what dreams are made of - and her three best friends are her soulmates, just as much as Ren is. I live for a badass girl group, and Kira, Rachel, Georgia, and Dottie are one of the best I've ever read.

I could talk about this book forever, but sufficed to say i loved it, 10/10 no notes, all the freaking stars in the sky. It's perfection in book form and I'll be thinking about it for a LONG time.

An incredibly-written workplace romance with undeniable chemistry, sizzling tension, and so much more 🤩🔥 A definite 6-star read for me 🥰

⭐ Rating Criteria ⭐

💛 Plot:

Right from the start, this book had my heart in a chokehold. I knew I was going to love it even from just a few chapters into it. From Kira and Warren's undeniable chemistry at the start, to the slow burn development, up to the moment it all came together - this was a masterpiece of a romance book 🥰

The cherry on top of this beautiful, sweet treat was the mental health representation ❤️ This is also where I feel I connected with the characters - the way Kira was written just resonated with me on a deeper level. The author did a wonderful job at writing a character diagnosed with Major Depressive disorder. The scenes wherein Kira gets “the spins” were so raw and vulnerable, but most of all, realistic - it almost seemed like I was in her shoes, feeling what she felt in those moments. Also, the way that Kira described how she felt whenever she experienced those episodes was so well-written. This is one of the very few books I’ve read that not only portrays those feelings amazingly, but also writes them in a way that readers are able to comprehend and empathize with the character.

💛 Characters:

I could go on a much longer tangent about how the author did such a great job at writing Kira and her experiences, but I’ll limit myself to the whole paragraph above because I also have to talk about Warren! Warren - the man of the hour, my new addition to the list of amazing book boyfriends, the man with such unwavering love and respect for Kira that he, even with his trauma of fishes, adopted Pancake.

This author just knows how to write not only incredible characters, but also unbelievably amazing men that you’d wish existed in real life. Now, I just found out this is the fourth book of a series, but all the other male significant others of Kira’s friend group show up in this one so I know every single one of them are as amazing as Warren. And the level of comfort they all have with each other? I am a sucker for the found family trope, and this one delivers!

In addition to Kira’s friends, we also have her wonderful, loving family who always has her back. With everything she’s been through, I’m glad she has such amazing people surrounding her and giving her that much-needed assurance that she’s not alone and so many people love her.

💛 Writing Style:

If I haven’t complimented this story enough, it was also structured and paced really well. Honestly, it was such an easy read, and even with the heavy topic of depression, it was balanced out really well with the romance and the humor ❤️

💛 Overall:

Wow, did I love reading this! This was amazing. Something about this just captured me, and I cannot explain it. This was perfect - others can say otherwise, but this was chef’s kiss for me ❤️

This was insanely good, and I wish I could read more books like this in the future. With that said, I can’t wait to check out the author’s other works, especially the ones in this series. I’ve got a whole friend group to get to know, and I am excited! 🤩

Thank you so much to Love Notes PR and the author for allowing me to share my honest review of this ARC ❤️

“You are worthy. You are ready. And they can knock you down, but they can never knock you out.” - Kendall Toole

Thank you to Emily Shacklette and LoveNotes PR for my advanced copy of Spinning Out of Control to read and review!

First and foremost, I have to give all the credit and appreciation to Emily Shacklette for including every single playlist that she used for the book. Especially Kira’s workout playlists. I look forward to doing some damage to my body with the metal playlist.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The pacing was good and it didn’t feel like it dragged out. As a Swiftie, I enjoyed picking up all the references and loved that the theme was definitely “The Man”.

Wrapped up inside Spinning Out of Control, you have dislike-to-lovers, a 20-year age gap, forced proximity, one night stand, and he falls first and harder. Outside of the tropes, you also have a story of friendship and mental health representation, which reminds readers than you need your gal-pals and that it’s okay to not be okay.

I don’t think I’ve ever been able to say that a romance book has broken my heart and made me feel as seen as this one did. Depression is something that isn’t really touched upon in most books, especially not in as much detail as this one provides. As someone going through a depressive episode right now, the support and love that Kira had made me feel so happy. What her dads said to her in her time of need really resonated with me.

Onto the romance… I always say it, I love when a man swoons for his lady from start to finish. Warren is the blueprint of a man who loves his woman loudly. I think we all know who he was inspired by (Mr. Travis Kelce). My only complaint about this man was how he nicknamed the love of his life “pest”. Maybe I just girlboss too close to the sun to enjoy that one.

Kira is my girl. Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t take shit from anyone. And I feel that I related to Kira on a spiritual level: body, mind, and soul. Girlfriend knows what she wants and takes it; no questions asked. She girlbossed so hard that there’s a pegging scene. Although it’s not my personal cup of tea, it is nice to see her *literally* fuck the patriarchy.

Spinning Out Of Control is an absolutely incredible strangers to enemies to lovers, age gap romance! The story follows Kira and Warren. They meet at mutual friends’ wedding and have a night of fun together. In their first encounter there is some explosive chemistry and witty banter, which only sets the scene for a delicious slow burn romance that is filled with loads of tension, shenanigans, and emotional growth.

Emily Shacklette created such emotionally
impactful, relatable characters. I’m in awe of the strong emotions that these character’s actions, lives, and feelings pulled out of me. Kira is gutted when she loses the opportunity to buy the company she has put her entire life into and only sees that there is one person to blame, Warren. The resentment and betrayal she feels fuels the first part of the book as they navigate working together, now that he is her boss. Things slowly thaw out when Warren proves time and time again that he had no true intention of hurting Kira, and only wants what is best for her - he would absolutely give her the world.

Warren falls first and he falls hard, he is such a simp for Kira. He cares so deeply for her, loves and appreciates her for who she is. Kira is a total baddie, she knows herself so well and has goals. She is confident, passionate, and devoted to the things she holds most dear like her friends, family and Spin Cycle. Warren is the perfect MMC because he doesn’t want to change her, he embraces who she is and loves her because of it. These two are perfect for one another - they really compliment and support each through everything.

This book truly embodies love, trust, and acceptance. I’m overjoyed with the outcome in the end for both Kira and Warren. Their love for one another other is so raw and emotional, they put themselves out there entirely for the other, trusting the other will be there to catch them as they fall deeper in love.

Thank you so much to Emily Shacklette and Love Notes PR for the early copy! Kira and Warren’s story really resonates with me and reminds you that there is someone for everyone out there; no matter the circumstance, they can always seek a brighter future and do anything they put their mind to with the support and love of those around you.

Spinning Out of Control by Emily Shacklette is a steamy and addictive romance that immediately captivates readers with the electrifying chemistry between Kira and Warren (Ren). From the very beginning, the book delivers an engaging and passionate story, as Kira, unbothered by their age difference, finds herself irresistibly drawn to the older and undeniably attractive Ren. Their intense connection unfolds at a friend’s wedding, setting the stage for a thrilling romance that keeps readers hooked.

Emily Shacklette’s writing is fast-paced and engaging, making it easy for readers to immerse themselves in the story. The intimate and passionate moments are well-written, and the dialogue feels natural and engaging. The balance between character emotions and steamy scenes adds to the book’s addictive nature. The novel explores themes of desire, attraction, and the complexities of relationships with age gaps, highlighting the idea of embracing one’s feelings regardless of societal expectations and the importance of taking risks in love.

Kira is a bold and confident protagonist who knows what she wants, and Ren is equally compelling as the experienced yet irresistible love interest. Their chemistry is palpable, making their interactions exciting and believable. While the book focuses primarily on their romance, there’s enough depth in their personalities to keep readers invested. The strengths of the book lie in its intense character chemistry, smooth and fast-paced writing style, and the balance of steamy yet emotional storytelling. However, some readers might prefer more background on the characters before their relationship escalates, and the age gap theme, while intriguing, may not appeal to everyone.

Overall, Spinning Out of Control is a must-read for fans of steamy, fast-paced romance novels. Emily Shacklette delivers an irresistible story filled with passion and excitement. If you enjoy books with intense chemistry, engaging writing, and well-developed romance, this one is worth picking up. Readers who love this book will likely be eager to explore the rest of the series.

Thank you, Emily and Love Notes PR for the ARC! This was such a wonderful read ♡

First of all, I’m annoyed. Annoyed because why didn’t I know about this series sooner?? I am completely in love. The characters are perfect (except Jonathan—take the exit). And if the Pussy Posse is accepting new members, where do I sign up?

Kira is an absolute gem. She's climbing her way up to my all-time favorite FMCs. Strong, loud, a little obnoxious (she owns it), and absolutely hilarious with that sharp sass. But what really makes me love her is how layered she is and how she could be both fierce and vulnerable, and wasn’t afraid to ask for help when the weight of everything became too much, and Emily did such a beautiful job capturing the duality of happiness and mental health struggles. Kira is the kind of character that makes you feel seen and it was a reminder that even the happiest and strongest can struggle mentally and that strength doesn't always mean handling everything on your own.

And then there’s Warren—the irresistible British SSF. It’s impossible not to adore him. From the moment he laid eyes on Kira, he was a goner, and honestly, watching him fall so hard was adorable. He’s Kira’s perfect match, effortlessly switching between being her rock and driving her absolutely crazy. He’s got that balance of being protective without being overbearing, and let’s be honest—who doesn’t melt for a guy who’s head-over-heels in love and ready to move mountains for his woman? You'd be heartless not to root for that kind of man.

This book is stunning—from the great chemistry between Kira and Warren, to the heartwarming and unfiltered friendships between the characters, and those unexpected emotional moments that catch you off guard.

All in all, this was such an enjoyable read, and I can’t wait to dive into the first three books of the series because I just know they’ll be just as good. Emily, you’ve gained a new fan for life. Thank you for gifting us with these characters and stories!

“Spinning out of Control” is an irresistible romance that blends fiery tension, emotional depth, and plenty of steamy chemistry. Kira McKenna, a fiercely independent fitness instructor, has everything in her life carefully planned—except for the company she helped build, Spin Sync. After years of hard work, she’s blindsided when the company is sold out from under her to none other than Warren Yates, a successful CEO with a taste for high stakes investments. What stings even more? She shared a red-hot, spontaneous moment with him at her best friend's wedding just weeks earlier.

Kira is furious, feeling betrayed by someone who should’ve been her ally. She’s not afraid to show it, and she’s determined to make Warren’s life miserable. However, Warren, wealthy and driven by more than just money, sees something in Kira that intrigues him. Beneath her fiery exterior, he senses a depth of passion and strength that only draws him in more. As their professional and personal worlds collide, the forced proximity creates a simmering tension that neither can ignore.
What begins as mutual disdain soon evolves into something much more complicated. As Kira and Warren are forced to work together for the future of Spin Sync, the chemistry between them becomes undeniable. Their professional conflict gradually gives way to stolen moments of passion, and Kira starts to question everything she thought she knew about herself, her boundaries, and her feelings for the man she despises.

The age gap adds a unique layer to the romance, as Kira grapples with her own preconceived notions about love and power dynamics. What sets this story apart is how the author masterfully navigates their emotional journey from enemies to lovers, portraying Kira’s vulnerability and strength with equal care. The transformation of their relationship, from fiery arguments to tender moments, is both believable and intoxicating.

Spinning out of Control is a perfect read for anyone who loves a good enemies-to-lovers story, where the characters' chemistry burns as hot as their conflicts. If you’re looking for a steamy, slow-burn romance with plenty of heart, Spinning out of Control is a must-read!

eARC Review: 4/5 Stars
*Also a huge thanks to LoveNotePR too*
Tropes/content warning: “on page, open-door detailed sex scenes (PiV, oral sex, anal play, public play, pierced genitalia), FMC with major depressive disorder, suicidal ideation, near-attempt of suicide (off-page and in the past, recounted as a memory). abusive parent (off-page and in the past, recounted as a memory), depressive episodes, alcohol use, fitness instructor FMC with on page fitness classes & motivational fitness jargon”

I believe this is my first ever read from Emily, but from this read, I am happy to say it should not be my last because this was a sexy/spice cute romance. I also did not realize this was a part of a series, but no matter what, I will likely go back to read the others too! But jumping back into this review….

Though I feel it is always important to start from the beginning when it's a series, this one still didn’t make you feel confused at any point. I still felt like I understood the characters and the point of what was going on, and can I just say I fell in love with the plot and the characters involved… Everything was done super well and the commentary was very cute. Example: “her smile is my drug. Her laughter is the blood pumping through my body. Her pleasure is the song my soul sings. because Kira Mckenna is my happiness. She makes me delirious with joy.”

Kira and Warren literally had my heart during my time reading this story, their connection to one another was just super cute and the banter that took place was playful and perfect. I also loved how back he had it for her, he was very much lovesick but didn’t want her to know for a bit because he wanted to prove that it was real and for that I thought it was cute but damn did she know. Also the amount of respect in this story was a nice touch too cause its an important part of any relationship. Overall, I’m excited to say I can’t wait to see what else comes from Emily Shacklette.

𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚: ★★
𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪:

I’m honestly torn on how I feel about this book. The premise had a lot of promise, but let’s just say it didn’t completely live up to my expectations. For one, I’m exhausted by the constant reminder of how much older Warren is than Kira, like, we get it. Age gaps can be a thing, but can we move on now? It was almost as if the author kept going back to it, like we were supposed to be shocked or something. Honestly, I just wanted them to get to the good stuff already.

And speaking of the "good stuff" the smut was absolutely incredible. I can’t lie about that. The chemistry between Kira and Warren? Electric. The scenes between them were spicy enough to make me forget my earlier frustrations for a while, but unfortunately, that was short lived.

The dialogue...whew. There were moments that made me want to cringe so hard I almost put the book down. Some of the lines were just...painful to read. I don’t know if they were supposed to be cute, but they definitely fell flat for me, and I found myself rolling my eyes more than I care to admit.

Also, can we please stop mentioning Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in romance novels again? I’m a Swiftie, but I’m so tired of seeing that pair shoehorned into books where they have zero relevance. Like, just stop. PLEASE.

Honestly, I skimmed through most of the book…no matter how hard I try, I just can’t bring myself to DNF a book. I kept hoping it would get better, but it never really did.

In the end, I’m giving this 2 stars. I didn’t really enjoy it. The plot itself was okay, nothing groundbreaking, but the characters? Absolutely not. They felt flat and one dimensional, with no real development. The only redeeming part for me was the smut honestly, that’s what kept me reading. But even that couldn’t save the overall experience.

BETA review

5⭐|4🌶|18%🌶 frequency

First of all, I would like to thank Emily for trusting me to be a beta reader of her baby 🥰
This book is just so perfect and I can say without any regrets, that there wasn't anything that I would have changed in the story 🤩

I hate it when a series gets their last book...
But Kira's book was the book I had been waiting for since I read the first one. Kira is special. She really is a "little pest". You could also say she is the pain in the 🍑 for everyone 🤣 But she is also the one with the biggest 🩷 And that, even though she has her d€m0ns. I didn't expect that, but that's how it is. She has had depression for YEARS. But it makes her even stronger 💪

I laughed. I cried. I swooned. And I was angry 🤬

There couldn't be a better man for Kira than Warren. Not just because he is a billionaire 😎 He is just so perfect for her, in every single way. He loves her with every grey hair she causes him 🤣 It really has "The Nanny" vibes, just without the kids, but the bickering between Warren and Kira is 100% the same 😁
Oh wait, there is one kid. Not his, but Kira's. Waffles. He is Kira's pride and joy. But there is a problem with him and Warren 🙈

I don't know what more to say. I'm sitting here. Have just finished the book and crying 😭 I'll miss the gang. Every single one of the eight. Including Kira's dads and her brother.

I would sooooo love to be a Pu$$y Posse 🤩 They are like the $€x and the City girls 😁
And one thing is for sure, they talk a lot about $€x. And they talk about a lot of k!nks 😎
And yes, with every book you will get another k!nk 😎 The books aren't full of them, but they have them 😁

The spice, the nicknames, the banter, the TLC!!! Haven’t seen Female Rage in a RomCom quite like this before, I’m so glad I live in a time where people like Kira exist in real life to fight for what’s rightfully theirs and get to read it too💘

Their chemistry was off the charts from the beginning but then the way it turns into a slow burn?? Emily Shacklette knows how to make us beg for these two to effing kiss already!!!! And when they do? Find yourself a fan, or a battery operated device, your choice hehe

Something I loved: the mental health representation was so spot on!! The spins, the walls and barriers, the heavy heart that Kira carries makes her even more of a badass to me 💛 the author handles the topics with love, care and respect and the way all comes together at the end? *standing ovation 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻*

🌼 Kira, mi bilingual idola, I fell in love with you in Georgie’s book and now I cannot stop screaming about you and the way I would love to be your friend, dance some reggaeton and get to chismear about all the hot gossip with you and the Posse.

🐠 Warren, bb, I can overlook your fish aversion thanks to your SSF status, your piercings, your love and care for Kira and the way that at the end no matter how hard it gets, you are there for the people you love 💗

I got emotional seeing other members of the Posse being supportive of our girl Kira, I want to be part of that group so bad!! Also, the way I fall even MORE in love with James (even if it’s not his book) every time I spot him on page should be a crime, duuude!!! introduce me to someone like you already!!! 😂

Thanks to the author and Love Notes PR for a copy of the eARC in exchange for an honest review. And thank you Emily Shacklette for letting me read the Beta version, it was such an honor 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻💓💘👏🏻✨

Spinning Out of Control is the 4th book in the Posse series by Emily Shacklette. This time around it’s Kira’s turn to find forever, and Warren (and his fancy fun part) are stepping up to the plate. I mean, who could resist a sexy silver fox (he’s 20 years older) with a british accent, a bejeweled jacob’s ladder, and a penchant for calling you “little pest” while whimpering into your mouth during a hot kiss?
I love a supportive girl gang, and the pussy posse is a blast to read about. SOOC is their last hurrah, so to speak, and gives us a chance to see these women with their men all together and happy. The way they are all so supportive of each other, and make time in their clearly busy lives to spend time together is inspiring to me, as someone who knows how challenging that can be as you get older. I especially loved how they rallied around Kira to support her professional goals.
I also want to shout out the mental health rep in this book. Kira has occasional bouts of what she calls “the spins”, or major depressive episodes. There is discussion about how dark it has gotten for her in the past, and how she fights to keep from going back to that place. Her support system between her girls, her family, and now Ren is top tier.
This book has a little something for everyone. There’s a spicy age gap romance at the heart, but there is a bit of workplace intrigue, major boss babe vibes, and a ride or die found family waiting to welcome you in.
Thank you to Love Notes PR & Emily Shacklette for the ARC opportunity.

ARC review💛

kira—you dropped this…👑
warren—you also dropped this…👑

this is the fourth and final book for the pussy posse gang, and it did not disappoint! warren and kira have an ✨eventful✨night together at her best friends wedding—only for kira to find out weeks later that he is now…her BOSS! spin sync is kira’s pride and joy, and when she finds out who bought it, she is furious! feeling used and betrayed, kira is set out to make warren’s time as CEO a living hell. but when they work side by side to keep spin sync thriving, they continue to get closer and closer, sharing sharing pieces of themselves they’ve never revealed to anyone before. will they continue to keep their walls up and maintain their carefully constructed boundaries? or will they tear them down and spin out of control? 💫🌀

most of the time, i find myself getting frustrated with at least one of the main characters in a book. that never happened here. kira and warren are extremely likable from the get-go. their chemistry was explosive 💥❤️‍🔥 and their sexy, quick-witted banter was just 😙🤌

the author did a phenomenal job with the mental illness representation. depression is often misunderstood and misinterpreted by society, and this book beautifully portrays the reality of struggling with depression and anxiety—especially for someone as cheeky and high-spirited as kira. the average person tends to assume that someone like kira couldn’t possibly be struggling but the story shines a much needed light on the truth—you never know what someone is going through. sometimes the people with the biggest smiles are struggling the most.

on another note, this book had me—spinning out of control—with that pegging the patriarchy scene🫣🥵

Thank you LoveNotesPR and Emily Shacklette for the opportunity to read and review🩷

A big thank you to Love Notes PR and author Emily Shacklette for selecting me to receive an advance copy of Spinning Out of Control! 💛 This is my voluntary and honest review:

This story follows Kira who is a spin cycle instructor. She had the idea to open her own business but when she shares her ideas with a one night stand he uses them to open up the business first. Accepting his betrayal, she ends up working for him. When an important meeting has her excited, knowing he’s ready to move on from the business, she’s shocked to learn he already sold the business to someone else. The new owner isn’t just anyone, it’s Warren, the sexy silver fox she hooked up with at her best friend’s wedding!

The back and forth banter and flirting was so fun! I love a good enemies to lovers book and this was just that. This book was full of sass, spice and chemistry! 😏 ❤️‍🔥 I really enjoyed the characters. Kira is a spit fire who’s not afraid to speak her mind and loves to give Warren a hard time. Warren loves her attitude and can’t get enough of it.

This is my first book by Emily Shacklette but won’t be my last. Despite it being the fourth book in the series it can be read as a standalone.

Trigger warning:
Suicidal thoughts and depression.

UGH! Once again, Emily Shacklette absolutely wrecked me and then stitched my heart right back together. And along the way there was plenty of humor and spice and girl power! I could not want to be Kira McKenna more! She is absolute goals and I love her so much! Her absolute pure strength and character and energy is so amazing, and I just love her so damn much! And Warren was everything you could want in a billionaire who just wants to simp for and spoil his woman!! I loved his sheer support and dedication to Kira, and how he loved her company, both independently of and for her! Their story is everything I've wanted for Kira across the last three books, and I'm so thrilled to see our queen get her story and see it play out so perfectly!! And anytime I get any and all nonsense thanks to these girls and their SO's is a perfectly good time!!! I'd do some sketchy things to be part of this idyllic girl gang!!! On the whole, this was an absolute BANGER of a book, and I'm so incredibly grateful to Emily for letting me be any part of it's journey!!! 5 stars; 4 chili peppers

kira “i can do it with a broken heart” mckenna, the woman that you are!!!!

first things first, thank you, thank you, thank you pr love notes and emily schacklette for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book, i appreciate it immensely <3 i rarely read gym romances and i was sooo excited to read this one!

yes, this book is SPICY. i don’t necessarily look for smutty books at this point in my life, but i don’t mind it when it’s there, particularly when it’s well done, and this one delivered! there were so many details that made ren and kira’s physical relationship stand out from others in the genre, i was hooked! i truly appreciated the variety and the chemistry between them, i just wish we could’ve seen more of them talking about the serious stuff, because i feel that it’s mentioned and then kind of brushed off? i think if there had been more talking, i would’ve loved them even more.

having said that, this book was a super light read that i devoured in twenty four hours, it was funny and cute and quite relatable, which i wasn’t really expecting <3

ps: fuck jonathan
