When a solar event plunges the world into darkness, Diana Vance faces a deadly journey through a frozen wasteland. Armed with her late father’s survival skills, she battles the elements and humanity's worst instincts to find her friends. As the cold grows harsher and trust becomes dangerous, survival demands everything she has.
I enjoyed the read but felt it a little unrealistic in an apocolyptic world. I kept wondering why they didn't go back to see if anything survived of her dads cabin and wondering why she wasn't better prepared with weapons and wondering why her father had not created a faraway cage in their cellar knowing the flare was coming and that he had a pacemaker.
Another EMP book that is a bit different from the rest. This is written in such a way that you can't help but keep reading. Characters are wonderful and I enjoyed it immensely.
The central theme of Bitter Winds is the super-preparedness of Diane thanks to her father's teachings. Unfortunately, this didn't cover things like food, water, and arms. She was a bit too much of an egoist for my liking.....
