i had the wonderful opportunity to beta read this and i absolutely ate it up !! just like with all my favorite reads, i wish it was longer bc i simply just don’t ever want to leave them.
this is a dark military romance, book two in this series, masked man, missions, abduction, bdsm, praise, degradation, touch her / him and die, trauma healing, quick, and easy to read ❤️
this takes off in a flashback to when rowan tells dove her brother had passed away during a mission. and then it gives more insight to how rowan stalked dove for the next couple of years. and then it continues where book one left off !!
i love dove so much 🥹 omg this girl deserves the whole world. she has such a huge heart and loves so hard. when she gets abducted and what she had to go through … ugh my stomach dropped. i literally couldn’t breathe. she is healing and with the help around her, she’s slowly coming back to herself.

• I’m honestly a little shocked by this book as a whole. It doesn’t feel anything like the first book in terms of quality, writing, and characters.
Rhea managed to improve absolutely EVERYTHING in this sequel. I’m speechless.
See, I’m not a big fan of the first book for several reasons, mainly because there were scenes that gave me secondhand embarrassment, so I didn’t expect to enjoy the sequel. But I still wanted to read it because the ending of the first book was actually interesting.
And then I was completely caught off guard by the first few chapters—and the ones that followed. There was so much adrenaline and emotional weight!
Rowan was even more intense, and Dove actually had a personality here. That was the highlight because one of the main reasons I didn’t like the first book as much was that she was bland and entirely at Rowan’s mercy. But in this book, she was so different! I could finally relate to her and grow attached, which I never expected at all. She became my little protégée, and I’m so happy she got her happy ending after everything she went through.
About Rowan: In this book, we get to learn more about him and how he became such a powerful person, and I absolutely loved that aspect. I feel like he had a huge character development, and I started loving him. I could truly feel his emotions toward Dove… They had such beautiful moments together, and I was so surprised! I never expected their relationship to turn into something so wonderful. 🤏🏻 And the moments where he took care of her were my absolute favorites. Without a doubt, they have earned a place in my heart.
In short, this sequel is strong enough to win over even those who didn’t enjoy the first book that much. The universe has so much potential to surprise readers, and I really hope we get a book about Camélia and Maddox. They have so much to tell.
Finally, thank you, Rhea Harp, for this ARC. It was an incredible read, and I will definitely recommend it to all my friends!

I’m keeping this review short bc I don’t want to spoil anything. If you’ve read Under His Command, you NEED to read this!! And if you haven’t read UHC, get on it!! This has an abduction/rescue mission, masked men, BDSM, trauma & healing. Just so so good!!

RHEA, GIRL!! The twists and turns had me dizzy!! 😂 I literally never knew who to trust. I was on the EDGE OF MY SEAT and so so nervous for poor Dove!! The things she went through UGHHH 😭

I also loved that we got big daddy Rowan’s POV for some of the chapters in UHC.

not usually one to have any issues with dark romance but the dubcon was untasteful and insane considering she was traumatized 10 pages before and he didnt even really care, their dynamic was just not as good in this book as the first and everything about the sex scenes felt so like forced and weird in a taken advantage of kinda way not a noncon/con dubcon sort of way ... it just seemed like she never had the chance to process her trauma and he just wanted to fuck the traumatized out of her....

I knew I was gonna love this before I even started reading but GOD DAMN!! the world building: phenomenal. The suspense and keeping me on the edge of my seat the whole time: outstanding. The smut: smutty and smutting.
Seeing Rowan's POV and getting more of his backstory gave so much insight into Rowan and why he is so protective and would do anything for the ones he loves. He would literally burn the world down for Dove. When he got her back, he made sure she was okay first and foremost and did his best to get her out of her head in the best way he knew how and you could see how grateful she was for that. She is his rock and he is hers. They are the epitome of power couple and I fucking love them. Seeing Dove become the badass Rowan already knew she was was amazing and I'm glad that she wasn't doubting herself anymore. I'm obviously not gonna spoil anything but I will say the epilogue is adorable.

Under His Wrath is a continuation of Under His Command and definitely needs to be read in order. It wraps up Dove and Rowan’s story at a completely breakneck speed.
The storyline continues to be mostly spice and, unfortunately, it’s just not the kind that I am into. A couple times I got the ick and had to set the book down. Dark romance to me has that edge of danger/pain/kink and darker desires but you still think the guy LIKES her and most of the time Rowan didn’t show that. He did, over and over again, say that he liked Dove but I didn’t see any showing.
I was hoping for an eventual balance and a crack of Rowan’s shell to make us understand him more, but he just continued to be this domineering terrifying dude. Dove continued to just exist around him and I wanted to see more agency. The moment where he could grovel was brushed over with a time jump and more “you’re mines.”
Overall, just not for me. I should have stopped at book one, but that cliff hanger got me.

And that’s how a conclusion is done right!
I finished this book in under a day, I absolutely could not put it down. It was a serious game of twists and turns waiting to see how they could win the war.
The main characters (Rowan and Dove) both had fantastic growth and I loved seeing Doves character development especially, often books have characters grow overnight but I feel like author Rhea Harp did a phenomenal job of keeping everything so believable.
I really look forward to seeing more work from Rhea Harp, hopefully more with the side character considering they were all so different and drew me in!
Also, id like to mention the spicy scenes - solid 4/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ - I feel like this book was even better than the first one in honoring safe practices and keeping them realistic.

People getting kidnapped, unalived, and poisoned, only to throw us back into spicy scenes to alleviate the torture of what will happen next. We end up with our HEA, but holy moly, the trip there is high stakes and high reward.

The characters in this book have a lot of charm and personality to them, and Ms Harp does an amazing job capturing their emotions and putting them into words. Dove, on one hand, may seem weak and fragile. But throughout her and Rowan’s story, her character develops and develops, and grows into something beautiful.
The plot? Well let’s just say that it was adventurous, tense, and absolutely crazy! This being a military romance, albeit non a very accurate one haha, the plot is riveting in its own special way! It was easy to follow, and the world building was amazing! Secret Society, unexpected surprises, twists and turns, and the most insane plot twist ever has me loving this book more than the first!
The 🌶️ KEJDOSDI WOWWWIEEEEE Rowan takes care of Dove in more ways than one. He protects her from anything and everything of course, but he also gives her the pleasure that helps her soothe her pain. There were a lot of intimate scenes that the plot leads into perfectly, and I love how each one turned out. Chapter 11? Ok wow- um- that awakened something inside of me 🤭🤭 and then there’s the ⛪️ scene. And just trust me… you’ll break faster than an uncooked, gluten free noodle. I promise!

First off, be sure to read Under His Command, book one, as it ends in a cliffhanger and we start RIGHT where we left off.
Also! Yes this is a dark MILITARY romance, but this is in NO WAY like the real military. So when you go into this series please remember it’s just a book. It’s not real. So just ENJOY IT!

When dove wakes in a cold dark room she tries to piece together what the hell is happening. Was that really her brother, or is she hallucinating? After being drugged and kept in a dark cell for days Dove begins to falter.
Rowan is a man with a mission. And he will burn whoever stands in his way. As he does what he does best 😈 he begins to unravel enough information to find her. But will he get there in time? Or will he find a shell of the woman he loves?
This duet has easily worked its way into my top 3!

The twists and turns you experience in book 2 kept me attached to my kindle, I seriously couldn’t put it down! My heart hurt so badly for Dove and Rowan, the turmoil they had to endure just to be together again. Dove’s resilience was by far my favorite thing. No matter what was thrown at her she never faltered. Those EPILOGUES?!!! 😭🥹

Having the book start off with Rowans POV was eye opening for myself because it starts off with how he met Dove and what happened to Cole. Then the next 2 chapters show how he keeps his promise to Cole and how he feels after he meets Dove. Being able to read the book in both Dove and Rowan's POV made me smile. I was mad at Rowan for his dumb idea and was so happy that Dove and Cam found out. I loved watching their relationship and characters grow. When Dove got kidnapped oh was I pissed because that was what happened at the end of the first book and then going along with her on what happens to her while being kidnapped made my blood boil. I cried, laughed and yelled at the characters while reading this book. I did NOT want to put it down or even for it to end. I got to the last 2 chapters and was sitting with a friend and told her that I was 90% through and only had 2 chapters left but I didn't want to finish it because then I have to say goodbye to Rowan and Dove. Thank you Rhea Harp for letting me read this book as an ARC like the first one! I'm just sad that their story ended. I cannot wait for your future work.

I just finished Under His Wrath by Rhea Harp and these are my thoughts.
This book did not disappoint!!! After finishing Under His Command the first and prior book in the Devils and Pretty Sins duet I had extremely high hopes for Under His Wrath. If I could, I would rate this book as a 6 star meaning I absolutely demolished it! I ate this up finishing all 417 pages in less than 12hrs.
Under His Wrath is a dark romance with heavy BDSM and conspiracy themes. It is the second book in the Devils and Pretty Sins duet.
The plot twists and revelations that came about in this book, the action, the spice, the story, and the character development, all of it was absolute perfection!

This book did not disappoint!!! After finishing Under His Command the first and prior book in the Devils and Pretty Sins duet I had extremely high hopes for Under His Wrath. If I could, I would rate this book as a 6 star meaning I absolutely demolished it! I ate this up finishing all 417 pages in less than 12hrs.
Under His Wrath is a dark romance with heavy BDSM and conspiracy themes. It is the second book in the Devils and Pretty Sins duet.
The plot twists and revelations that came about in this book, the action, the spice, the story, and the character development, all of it was absolute perfection!

Ok, wow, where to begin? So, don’t read this book unless you read book one first because it has a cliffhanger that continues in this book.
Book one, the vibe was dominant, hard, army commander meets sweet, innocent woman and the spice is spicing with some stuff going on with his work in the background. Their stories/lives intertwine and ultimately catch up to them at the end of this book where Dove is kidnapped.
Book two, Rowan is searching for her. Dove goes through unthinkable things. The vibe is definitely different in this book. It’s more secret society, suspense, action, splash of politics, mental health but the one thing at the center is the overwhelming obsession these two have for each other. And this book may “feel” different than book one, but it is just as good, if not better. Some crazy stuff goes down and I was here for it. If there is one man I love in books, it is the unapologetic, morally black, dominating, dominating, takes no sh!t man, but ultimately is putty in his girls hand, yet still keeps his manliness in tact. Ya get me?! Anyway, I loved this duet. It was amazing and I loved all the characters. Rhea you’re amazing!

I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to be a beta reader for this book! This was my first time beta reading and I couldn’t think of a more perfect book to be my first! I was obsessed from the first chapter of Under His Command so I was SO excited to be able to beta read the second book. This is SO good.
This is a dark military romance, masked man, touch her/him and die & so much more that keeps you interested and on the edge of your seat.
The book starts out in a flashback to when Rowan and Dove first meet but from Rowan’s POV. We get to see more of Rowan’s background and how he ended up where he is. I love that we got to see more of Rowan’s POV. I love me an obsessive man and he is the perfect definition of one.

If you haven’t read Under His Command yet, GO DO IT so you can enjoy this one when it comes out 😌.

As a Dark Romance reader, I quite enjoyed reading this duet.
It's passionate, unhinge, quite interesting storyline with engaging plot and character.
While Book 1, Under His Command, focussed more on the world building and ofcourse with lots fo smut, Book 2, Under His Wrath, is where everything starts to unfold keeping you at the edge of your sit.
Being short books with Book 1 being only 142 pages (ig) and Book 2 with 246, the story was able to deliver what it intended.
A Military Dark Romance ( this was my first time reading this trope) I absolutely devoured this story. It had the heat, the passion, a plot that is engaging and ofcourse characters you grow to love so much.
I love our FMC, Dove, she was vulnerable yet a fire was always inside her, making her glow everywhere.
Our MMC, I love how he was written as an unhinged strong character yet at times we could see his vulnerability, his fear.
Definitely give it a read. It can be a quick read and engaging.

The way the first book ended had me desperate to start the next one. It starts so intense, I felt like I was holding me breath for ages.
But you. do. not. mess. with. what. belongs. to. Rowan!!! He comes for what is his literally with wrath and the plot of the book was amazing. I really liked how everything was connected and intertwined.
The obsession is much more mutual in this one too. I couldn’t get enough of the two of them.

This was freakin FANTASTIC! This was so action packed and I honestly had no idea what was going to happen next the entire time. The revelations about Cole and his role in the EFW were really surprising. Rowan was absolutely down bad for Dove at all times and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her. The story was very well written and very emotional and entertaining. The characters were super captivating and I loved how everyone’s stories got wrapped up so nicely. The spice was just extra extra spicy and I loved every second of it. I absolutely loved this you should definitely add it to your TBR and read it!!!

This books is dark and heavy, with the perfect amount of spice to balance out the story! This is the second book, the first being Under His Command, and it continues to tell us the story of our main characters!
Seeing these characters grow, fight, and heal together was amazing! The way Rhea Harp builds this world and the characters really draws you in and helps you to love this world. I absolutely loved the balance between spice and plot; it was done masterfully and truly allows you to have both!

Dove is captured by the enemy and this book goes through what she went through and what Rowan went through to get her back.
Phew- Dove- she is a hell of a lot stronger than she thinks. I loved her character development, and how she grew as a person.
Rowan- he is so possessive & controlling but also everything is about consent. Which is amazing. Both of them know she says one word and it all stops immediately. I wanted to strangle him a few times but he is lucky Dove is so observant.
I read this book in 1 day, I could not put it down. I had to know what happened, because it kept you on your toes so much. So much action packed into not a lot of pages! If the triggers don’t bother you- you have to read this book

I couldn't wait to read this after reading Under His Command earlier this month. It did not disappoint. I devoured it in one night!! I love Rowan and Dove so much. I cried, happy and sad tears, laughed at some things. The spicy scenes, oh my! Two have really stuck with me, playing on the couch with Leon, and then THE CHURCH SCENE! Just wow. I don't know what else to say except the ending was so sweet and perfect.

I enjoyed this book! I like how I haven't read something quite like it, but i also have read very many books with a main character in the military. I would recommend to lovers of dark romance.

I really enjoyed getting another peak behind the curtain in terms of seeing how Rowan climbed the ranks — especially since I wasn’t expecting the book to give us more of the past before hopping into the present but I think it was important in terms of giving us more context. While I don’t usually reach for military romance, I was drawn to this book because it had the dark romance aspect and it was definitely pretty dark so be warned! The story was so well thought out and had me shocked (in a good way) at all the twists and turns! Definitely recommend this two part series! My only gripe is I wish the conclusion was a bit more drawn out so we could how everything truly fell into place but 4.5/5 stars!!!
