Return to the witchy Cobblestones where Cassiopeia's next challenge awaits. This time, she's making hangover potions for the seniors of the neighbourhood who are living much wilder lives than her. Since her magic is still playing up, she has to recruit her childhood friend Faye and the grumpy cat Balthazar for help.
Can she keep the headaches to a minimum or is it an impossible challenge? ****
The Coffee House Witch & The Hangover Potion is the second book in the Cobblestone Coven series and it follows witch Cassiopeia and her return to her hometown. It's a cozy fantasy with a sapphic romance in a magical world with talking animals and lots of light-hearted banter.
Second book of the Cobblestone Coven series. This book delves into Cassie's problematic magic and Balthazar's antics as she starts to develop unwanted feelings of Faye.
Coming home I think what stood out for me the most was the comforts associated with Gran with her coffee & crumpets and hanging out with uni pals indulging in liquid courage & “tea”!
LUVed the tips on potion-making! I keep telling myself I want, nay, need to learn more homeopathic remedies as well as old skool cooking skills (I have yet to make the author’s dumplings from a different series). Foraging, gardening, picking, mixing, baking, etc. are really soooooo therapeutic.
Fave lines: ‘Chin up and cheer up.’ ‘I think I would quite like being handfed like some ancient queen’ = I would, too, gurl. I would, too!
May we all find our comfy space and cozy buddies.
‘The Coffee House Witch & The Cursed Clock’ will provide readers with yet another example of the homegrown, rural mindset about being there for each other.
I received a copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
While I wasn't fully onboard after reading the first book, I was hopeful my issues would get less as the series progressed and decided to continue the series. I enjoyed this second book a lot more. Cassie seems more settled back in the Cobblestones. She's starting to see her breakup wasn't all bad and her ex wasn't that good of a match for her. And there's more magic and potion brewing in this one. All in all I had a great time with this one and enjoyed this fun cozy read.
In this book Cassie has been asked to create hangover potions for her grandmother's friends. So she has to collect the ingredients and figure out how to brew the potion as her magic has been acting up. I liked how there was more about magic and potion brewing in this book. I especially liked seeing how Cassie brewed the potion, from collecting to ingredients to the actual brewing. I also liked seeing how Faye was there to help her and I liked seeing these two interact and revitalize their friendship with hints of a romance blossoming.
I enjoyed reading about Cassie more in this book. I like how she's more settled now being back in her hometown and enjoying living with her grandmother and working in the coffee house. I liked how she's starting to see her ex wasn't all that good for her and she's slowly moving on. I liked seeing her realize she's developing feelings for Faye and the two of them are fun to read about. Faye is such a fun character and I like how they help each other out and are there for the other in this one.
I also liked learning a bit more about the whole magic system with the deities and Cassie is taking steps to resolve her magic issues. I also like seeing more of her grandmother's familiar Betsy the cat who lives at the coffee house with them. And there is more of Balthazar, the grumpy cat. I like seeing him and Cassie interact and I look forward to the next book as it seems there will be more about him there.
To summarize: I enjoyed this book and am glad I decided to continue the series. Cassie is more fun to read about in this book and I liked reading about her, seeing her interact with Faye and working on regaining her magic and brewing potions. I liked learning a bit more about the deities and how that all worked. It also was nice to see Cassie feel a bit more settled and realize her ex wasn't that good for her and slowly starting to move on and developing feelings for Faye. I also enjoyed reading about the grumpy cat Balthazar and I look forward to the next book.
The second installment in a slow burn sapphic romance featuring two witches that grew up in the same cozy small town.
Cass is still struggling with her wonky magic, and the stakes only seem to be growing larger. Since her grandmother asked her to brew some hangover potions for her poker night, Cass now has a deadline she needs her magic working by. Desperate to concur the desired potions, Cass leans on childhood friend, Faye, for assistance.
The world that this book is set in is so cozy. It features a ton of witches who live in this small town that Cass has just returned to after breaking up with her longtime girlfriend. This installment mostly features Cass and Faye reconnecting with one another while trying to reignite Cass's magic.
As always, the talking cats are one of the major highlights of this series. Betsy and Balthazar are both icons in their own ways. Betsy is a lazy queen, and Balthazar is such a sassy boy. I'm totally engaged with every scene that they appear in.
I fear that this book lacked something as not much was really accomplished. I mean, we're starting to learn more about Cass and Faye's vibe, which is good as they're going to be our main romantic relationship that we're following. A little bit of progress was made on restoring Cass's magic. In the long run though, not much was truly accomplished to fix either problem. Jade's books are always short, but this one seemed a bit too short.
Overall, "The Coffee House Witch & the Hangover Potion" was a quick read that progresses the story line of the "Cobblestone Coven" series just a smidge. It was fun seeing Cass and Faye reconnect with one another more, as they were childhood friends who have only recently gotten in contact again. The talking cats are as iconic as ever, and I'm totally here for them. I hope volume three in this series adds a tad bit more to this story, because I feel this book was severely lacking.
The Coffee House Witch & The Hangover Potion is the second book in the Cobblestone Coven series by Ariana Jade. It follows Cassie as she settles back into her hometown and reconnects with her Gran and old friends. She makes a new friend in the grumpy cat named Balthazar and finds her feelings changing toward her BFF, Faye, even though she does not yet feel ready to date again after her breakup.
Things I like: • A fun, slow-burn sapphic romance • Cozy, small-town witchiness • A sense of found family • A quirky grandparent and other friendly seniors • Talking cats with distinct personalities • Interesting subplots
Things I don't like: • Waiting for the next book!
Cobblestone Coven is written as a serial and is not a standalone novella. Ariana Jade is a solid auto-read for me, and this series is no exception. I'm in for the long haul. #slowburn #witch #magic #bestfriendstolovers #quirkygrandparent #talkingcats #smalltown #cozy #serial #foundfamily #backtohometown #BFFs I received a free ARC from the author. This is my honest opinion.
Following straight on from the last book, this one has Cassie's gran having promised hangover cure potions from Cassie to her senior citizen, hard-drinking pals, and Cassie's magic not being able to oblige. We get to see a bit of interaction between Cassie and her teenage cousin who works part-time in the coffee shop as well, and that is as delightful as the relationship between Cassie and her Gran.
Cassie is finally starting to get over her ex, Agatha, and also starting to realise that she may feel more than just friendship for childhood bestie, Faye. She also reconnects with some old university friends. and finds out more about the cat, Balthazar, gaining enough trust that he turns to her for help, something that will be in the next book, I think
Fun, very fluffy and very short. A delightful little read.
This was just what I needed, a story of renewed friendship, flirting, and fun times. It's true the main character is female, a witch and prefers other females, but that has never been a matter of contention with me. The characters are fulsome, interesting, and read worthy. The plot is straightforward, and the premise is finding a way to get her magic back and the approval of her deities to make the magic steady. The answers fell into her lap while having fun with her new-old friends. I most certainly recommend this book and the first one.
This book in the series continues to lay the groundwork of what the Cobblestone Coven series will be and I’m all there for it. The one thing I’m looking forward to is Faye's “fresh” tongue and how it will apply to Cassie and her when we get to the romance part. That came out a lot dirtier than it was meant to because hello I’m talking about flirtation! 😆
“Thank you, Vampari Press, for providing this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.”
Poor Cassie. Her Grandma selling her potions on her behalf, and she hasn't been doing well with her magic. Luckily her luck kind of changes in that area after a night of too much wine and having her own hangover to content with. And her dynamic with Beltazar and Faye seems to be developing at a satisfactory pace. I can't wait to read more about both.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Cass is settling back into life on the Cobblestones but her magic is still iffy and she has the hangover potion to brew fur all her gran’s friends. Luckily Faye is there to help her. If you like lighthearted witchy stuff with a clueless about love barista witch and a grumpy cat then you’ll love this series. Start with book 1 though.
This book is a delightful continuation of the Coffee House Witch stories and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It's a relatively quick read, with fun characters, a budding friends-to-lovers romance, and of course, a touch of magic. Recommend! I received this story as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed spending time with Cassie and Balthazar as they are adjusting to the changes in their lives. The characters are wonderfully realistic, and the situations are as well. It was a very low drama but entertaining read.
We continue to follow Cassie as she tries to get a grip on her magic, whilst her grandmother has volunteered her services to make hangover potions for all her friends. An excellent storyline and well written characters. I'm really enjoying this new series by Ariana Jade.
Book 2 in the Cobblestone Coven series. Cassie is trying to make hangover potions for the neighborhood elders. Short but cozy sapphic novella with witches and familiars and family!
Book 3 comes out in November with more of Balthazar's (the cat) story and that I'm definitely looking forward to.
Awesome quick read. Book number 2 of a series. Giggled some, fun like the first book. I was able to picture myself there with them. Witches, coffee and familiars are one of my fav books to read!! I can’t wait to read book 3:)
I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline is entertaining and the chemistry between the characters is wonderful. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Love this short and sweet story with cute talking cats and budding romance between two childhood besties! It is lighthearted and a cozy comfort read! I absolutely loved the two adorable talking cats, they are funny and a delight to read!
As smooth as a perfect Belgian chocolate and as refreshing as the perfect latte, these cozy fantasy novels are the perfect way to wind down after a long day or week. Less fattening but just as fulfilling. Have fun and read them all. 🩵💙💜💝☕️💝☕️☕️💝🍩🩵💙💜
I'm voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy. I'm glad Cassie has found a way for her magic to work thanks to Faye. I liked how Balthazar is handling things and I hope Cassie can help him.
The sound of the hangover potion, vibrant with energy and colour, sounds wonderful, although being allergic to pine might be a problem... I've enjoyed Cassie more this time as she herself is happier. It's more cheerful.
4 stars. Another fun read in this series. I love the humor and the world building. It's so extremely cozy and comforting. Low angst and quick reads and I can't wait for the next one.
I love the way we get insight into their heads and hearts. It makes me smile when they think about certain things. Some regrets also are sad though. The cats are fun also. Good story.
I'm really enjoying this series, I like how it's written, it's cosy and keeps you invested. It's got everything you want, magic and cats....just pure cosiness. I can't wait to continue the series
Questionable if worth 2.99 for 94 pages with many catching up the storyline. This book did not move the story along much, but again, 94 pages isn't really a book.
This is the second book in the series, and it picks up right where the first one left off. In this installment, Cassie and Faye spend more time together. Cassie is still struggling with her magic, but the overall tone of the book feels lighter. I enjoyed this book much more than the first one, and I’m really looking forward to the next one in the series. It was a fun, light-hearted read with no significant drama. I definitely recommend it as part of the series.
Even though Cassie’s magic is still not flowing freely, she attempts to make a hangover potion for Gran and her friends. She also reconnects with old friends and starts to realize that she’s developing feelings for Faye. Admitting to Faye that her magic isn’t working is a big step, and Faye’s acceptance and assistance makes a difference. The bond with Balthazar continues to form and we learn that he is losing his former master’s building. Will Cassie find a way to help this grumpy familiar? Will her magic ever come back and her potions turn out right? And will she admit her feelings to Faye?
The second book in the Cobblestone Coven series continues to build a cozy world. Adding in former school friends gave Cassie a way to work through her feelings about her breakup. The slow build toward a relationship with Faye continues, as Cassie recognizes that she feels jealous about Faye’s crushes. I like that they’re reconnecting as friends before jumping into a romantic relationship. I’m really looking forward to the next book as we’ll get more about Balthazar. Exploring what happens to a familiar when their witch dies is an interesting concept.
