Starting this book at 11 p.m.? Mistake. I stayed up reading until 2 a.m.and fell asleep clutching my reader—and I regret nothing.
Silverbow is a debut fantasy romance filled with lost heirs, ancient secrets, dragons, dwarves, witches, and more. There's an epic quest, a solid dash of danger, and just enough mystery to have me mentally screaming theories at 1:47 a.m.
Enya is exactly my kind of FMC—fearless, big-mouthed, severely lacking in self-preservation skills. Oryn is her perfect match: broody, grumpy, overbearing, and very much in denial. I loved how each character interacted with Enya differently—it gave the group dynamics real depth. Also, Liam. That’s it. That’s the sentence. I need more of him.
Multi-POV books can be hit or miss, but I actually enjoyed getting into the heads of several characters. Some surprised me, and others left me with questions (and a few wild theories about where this is going).
Spice-wise, this one’s a slow burn—with emphasis on slow. But the story is so rich that you don’t even miss it (yet 👀).
That cliffhanger, though? Rude. Honestly, I sensed something was coming, but… that? Noelle, I’m begging. Book two. Now.

Firstly, a huge thank you to Noelle Parker for a copy of Silverbow! It was a true privilege to dive into this epic debut fantasy. All thoughts are my own—and spoiler-free!
From the very first page, I was hooked. Noelle Parker has crafted a beautifully rich and immersive world in Silverbow—one filled with elemental magic, ancient secrets, dragons, dwarves, and danger around every corner. The prologue alone set such a stunning tone, and the world of Elaria completely swept me away.
Enya Ryerson is everything I want in a main character: fiercely independent, loyal to her family, a bit reckless, and full of heart. Her journey is layered with emotion, magic, and sacrifice, and watching her grow through the story was such a rewarding experience. She's thrust into a world of mystery and prophecy, and even as she finds herself in danger, her grit and determination shine through.
The dynamic between Enya and the rest of the cast—especially Oryn, Liam, and the unforgettable dwarves—added so much personality and depth to the story. I loved that every character felt distinct and meaningful, and the multiple POVs (yes, many POVs!) gave the narrative real complexity without feeling overwhelming.
And can we talk about the banter? The tension? The found family vibes?? Chef's kiss. Oryn, the broody and overbearing protector, is the perfect counterpart to Enya's fire, and though the romance is a slow burn (with the emphasis on slow), the chemistry is undeniable. I’m officially obsessed.
The pacing is solid, the twists are sharp, and the ending? Rude. That cliffhanger left me reeling, and I’m already mentally preparing myself for book two. There’s so much still to uncover, and the final chapters raised the stakes in a major way.

This book (and series) is a commitment, but in my opinion it's totally worth it! The world building is really great and I loved everything about Elaria. The way the author describes the surroundings is detailed but not too much. I also love the magic systems in this story, it's really thought through. I didn't find a dull moment, I loved every moment of Enya's exciting adventure.
The characters in this book were the best! I loved Enya, she has a great strong personality with also enough stubbornness and a big mouth which gets her in trouble a few times. I love the interactions between her and the other characters. Liam is so sweet and I chuckled a lot because of Aiden, but I also loved the tension with Oryn. All of the characters have their own personalities which are elaborated perfectly in this story because of the multiple POV.
I didn't expect this ending and I am really curious about what is going to happen to all of them!

ARC REVIEW
First off, I just wanna say thank you so much to Ms. Parker for trusting me with her baby as an ARC read.
Let's get into it...
I'm giving this a 3.5-4 /5. It would def have been higher if the romance was more romancy. It was def advertised as a slow burn romantasy.. little did I know that would last through the entire book and I'm assuming doesn't come to fruition until the next book? I'm not usually a fan of slow burns. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they should just dive in head first BUT .... we went this entire book being tortured by her and Oryns awkward sexual tension and NOTHING HAPPENS BETWEEN THEM NOT ONCE!? I thought for sure that we would at least get a kiss with a cozy humble moment in his room after those soul screaming creatures attacked but not even THEN!?
ugh. and poor Liam. If there was ever a poster child for being friend zoned 🤦🏻♀️ that guy just can't get a break with Enya 🤣 He is in it for the long haul for sure and in her defense she is VERY clear with him that her love for him purely platonic/familial but dangggggg you can't help but feel bad for the guy!
It took me a bit to get through this purely because I didn't have as much down time as I usually do to read. Overall, I loved the story. Enya's character is a badass. When she hit Oryn with the jab about the covwood witch after discussing the marriage proposal I was kicking my feet giggling ... the banter in this was fantastic throughout. So many good smart ass one liners and OPE moments. The dialouge between characters is so natural and doesn't feel forced or rushed. The story flows so well.
Until..... it didn't.
The end .... how in God's name did that escalate so quickly?!
I quite literally reread the same last 3-4 pages REPEATEDLY thinking I missed something.
I will def be reading the next installment, if only to witness Oryn beat the brakes off Peytar. Because ooooowwweeeee does he deserve it. THEN ... Oryn and Enya better get some of that romance that I was promised as it being a romantasy 😤

Step aside, Eragon.
Step aside, Fourth Wing.
The true Dragonmaster of modern epic high fantasy authors has arrived.
Full disclosure: I was gifted a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review, and I went into the book thinking it would be a solid 4 stars. I kept thinking this through the first 45% of the book, BUT I think that's bc of my personal preferences, not bc of the book. It ended up being a 5-star read, and by that, I mean if I had more than 5, it would have more.
Of the fantasy tropes that moves the hero/heroine from regular to heroic (finding a portal, traveling, unlocking power or skills through some event or schooling, etc.) the travel trope is probably my least favorite. And this book is heavy on the traveling.
The prologue has big When the Moon Hatched vibes, so if you liked that, you'll already be hooked. The remainder of the first 45% is kind of Eragon set in Regency England. So, if you like any of that, again, you're hooked.
Then the big action starts happening.
Elves and Dwarves with real personalities?
Dragons that are marvelous and terrifying and not just glorified pets?
A heroine that actually develops in a reasonable and logical manner, not just bc the plot says she must?
YES, PLEASE, THIS IS EVERYTHING.
This is Noelle's first book, and while it could have used some tightening up, and probably could have gone through another round of edits, YOU GUYS I DON'T EVEN CARE.
No spice in this book, but I do not think it will be a no spice series.
Of all the elements Noelle worked into the story, I don't think there's one that's truly an original idea by itself. But the way she wove each piece together is fresh, compelling, and immersive.
Fantasy authors are notorious for not following through on promises made in the beginning of series, so PLEASE NOELLE DON'T LET ME DOWN.
I need more of this story!!!!!

I NEED BOOK 2. I have a huge book hangover and can’t wait to return to the fantasy world of Elaria.
Enya Ryerson is the strong female main character. Her character development is superb. She displays confidence, determination, faces challenges with resilience (and some emotion), and has a strong sense of self. Enya is in the dark about a few aspects of her life, but bravely moves through encounters that test her.
Enya has a wholesome upbringing at Ryerson House with love, respect, and skill taught. Enya has so much love for her family and her best friend Liam. When she feels her life shift, all she values is her family and their safety. Thus, putting her on an adventure where she discovers more than just truth. She discovers what her enemy is capable of, what she is capable of, and the meaning of sacrifice.
What I enjoyed the most:

Friendships

Horses

This was seriously good! A true fantasy novel with a strong, independent FMC, a set of strong MCs who helped the FMC along her journey, and a MMC who sees himself as her protector but gets frustrated with her need to protect herself. The magic system in this book is very cool and the way it is introduced in the first pages also gives the connection to the belief system as well. There is a romance that boils below the surface: slow burn with a hint of enemies to lovers possibly in the future. And there's a dragon! The dragon is not nearly as present in the story as I'd want, but I'm guessing dragons are going to continue to increase their appearance. Oh, and be warned, there's a cliffhanger that will definitely leave you wanting book 2 immediately!

Fantastic read! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the characters. The world building is excellent. There is such depth to the characters and I so enjoyed the different POVs. My biggest problem with this book/series is that the second book isn’t out yet :/

Silverbow is an epic fantasy full of hidden identities, mythical creatures, and feminine rage. The story starts with Enya's main concern being how to keep her suitors at bay, but that all changes after she passes the yearly magical testing and avoids the king's collar. Now, suitors are the least of her problems as she tries to outrun all of Estryia, who are racing to collect the heavy bounty placed upon her by a greedy lord.
What I loved:
The prologue: I knew this book was going to be good from the very start. The prologue was beautiful. I won't say anything else, you just have to read it for yourself!
Enya: I loved Enya's character; she was a breath of fresh air. She's brave, funny, and incredibly resourceful, but most of all, she's fiercely stubborn and refuses to be pushed around. Unlike many FMCs who spend the story pulling themselves out of despair, Enya uses her hatred as fuel, sidestepping the depths of anguish and turning her rage into an unstoppable force.
Pacing and World-Building: The pacing felt measured and intentional. It was slow enough that you got to feel like you were really spending time in the world and getting acquainted with the lands, people, and customs, without being so slow that you get bored. The world-building was phenomenal! The gods, the lore, the culture—it was so easy to become immersed in everything. I truly felt I was following Enya and her crew on their journey.
Found Family: While Enya may not always be fond of every member of her found family, I really enjoyed their dynamics. Their banter was super fun, and their personalities meshed well. I appreciated that the members of the group didn't automatically do whatever the leader told them and that he respected their independence. The scenes where Enya is playing with the dwarf children were especially nice, as it was great to see her happy again.
A quick note for romance readers: While romance is hinted at, it takes a back seat in this first book—so far back, it's practically in the trunk. However, this is only the beginning of the series, and it does seem like a romance will blossom more in the future.

Enya is Lizzie Bennett with a bow and arrow. 🏹
Those were the immediate vibes I got from her and was hooked immediately.
Fast forward a few pages and bam.
Elves with brooding, lingering stares.
I AM IN.
Parker excels at creating immersive, flowing imagery, matched with a clever voice and solid world building.
I did feel slightly hung up at the beginning. Despite many things happening and the story itself being excellently written, it began to feel like a bit of a waiting game as the excitement built by tension slowly began to dissolve into wondering when a high-stakes, life changing moment might occur.
And then it did. AND IT DIDNT STOP COMING.
Our girl Enya is a delightful firecracker of a reluctant hero, with a tomboy feel that made me giggle and a sarcastic heart of gold. It was exciting to see how much of the story took shape when the mysteries of her past came to light, and I can’t help but appreciate her dutiful sense of bravery and conviction.
When you add in the subtle love triangle (or maybe even a square?!?!) slowly brewing, and the fantastic cast of characters Parker has created (Aiden is my personal favorite, that little button pusher 😂) you just can’t help but fall in love with this story.
Oof and Oryn with the brooding/simmering yearning and jealousy? Ah! Obsessed.
My only critique would be some very slight issues on the technical writing side of things, but it was nowhere near enough to detract from my adoration of this story, and nowhere near as rough as some issues I’ve seen in traditionally published writing.
Noelle, you are a gem of an indie writer and I CANNOT WAIT to read book 2.

Oof and Oryn with the brooding/simmering yearning and jealousy? Ah! Obsessed.
My only critique would be some very slight issues on the technical writing side of things, but it was nowhere near enough to detract from my adoration of this story, and nowhere near as rough as some issues I’ve seen in traditionally published writing.
Noelle, you are a gem of an indie writer and I CANNOT WAIT to read book 2.

ARC Review
I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest opinion, so here goes...
Okay, I was seriously impressed by this book. The writing was fantastic! Noelle Parker did an amazing job with the lore, world-building, and engaging plot. So many books I read lately feel like carbon copies of each other, so it was refreshing to read something new and unique.
Enya is the kind of FMC I crave: reckless, loyal, witty, and impossible not to love. She’s a total badass, and I am here for it. I stayed looking forward to what she’d do next, and not once did she disappoint. Her growth throughout the book was real and refreshing. She doesn’t stay stuck in one mode—she’s challenged, she stumbles, she learns. Watching her evolve without losing her fire made me love her even more.
I also really appreciated how every character had their own distinct personality. Nothing felt one-dimensional. Enya had different dynamics with each person, which made her relationships feel real and layered.
And her love interest? Classic broody grump, but I swooned every time he smirked at her. Their chemistry had just the right amount of tension and slow burn. And this is EXTREMELY slow burn—as in, nothing happened between them yet. I wanted to yell at him to make a move already! But man, when it does happen... it’s going to be glorious.
That said, the book could have benefited from additional proofreading, as there were several noticeable spelling errors throughout. But that’s to be expected with a self-published book, so while it was noticeable, I didn’t let it affect my overall rating.
I also found myself a bit confused at times. There was a heavy info dump early on that made it hard to keep track of everything. Spacing out the information and providing more clarity in a few areas would’ve helped make the reading experience smoother. Maybe even adding a little guide or glossary to refer back to. (The world-building was fantastic—it was just a lot to remember.)
All that said, the story itself was strong, entertaining, and magical. I’m absolutely looking forward to the sequel. I need to buy a physical copy, because this book is definitely getting a trophy spot on my bookshelf. I’ll be recommending this one to others for sure!

I can’t! How could you do that to me?!? That ending was cruel. I love it though and I am dying for more!
If you love slow burn, not forced relationships in unrealistic timelines. The banter is amazing. I can’t decide who I like to read most. This book does multiple points of view really well the best I have read in a while actually. Each pov feels different but it all is coming from the same voice.
The characters are all fleshed out well you really feel for them and what they are dealing with throughout the book.
I really hope to hear more from the gods next book. So far I actually like these gods and normally I couldn’t care less, but I am really interested to know how they play into the story more.
I also really dig the magic system because so very unique. It’s music based but also elements based with talent off shoots. Very fun!

Silverbow is a lovely series opener filled with lyrical writing, deep world building, and unique characters. Book one only clearly scratches the surfaces of a complex and emotional story following Enya as she navigates through new information both about her life and the histories of her land with a series of companions old and new. Parker's descriptions frequently sing on the page, and the level of immersion that she is able to accomplish in a debut is beyond impressive.
If you like epic adventures, hidden secrets, giggly slow burn tension, immersive world building, dragons, strong FMCs, and the found family trope, this book is worth the read!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. If book two was available, I’d be diving straight into it, TBR list be dammed. I found the many POV to be jarring at first but came to accept it and what is brought to the story as I progressed through the book. Some didn’t feel incredibly needed but with the world building that was done in this book, I have faith I’ll appreciate it in the future. This book does set up the saga with many things unfinished and a cliffhanger.
My hesitation on rating this book 5 stars is that I think I’ll be forced to revisit this book to remember who everyone is and the many names they go by. I’d rather a reread be for the excitement of revisiting the world before delving into the next book.

This is definitely one of my top reads of the year so far! The book was written so poetically that reading the prologue felt like reading sacred text (no joke). I loved the FMC, Enya. She was relatable in the sense that she makes mistakes and is human, she isn’t a perfect heroine. The book does have a lot of different povs, but they flow together nicely and it doesn’t feel choppy. The magic system and world building were so interesting to me, and I loved how descriptive everything was. I’m already looking forward to the next book!

Noelle Parker has such a beautiful writing style, and this book even feels a bit poetic. It truly felt like some parts of this book were like reading directly from a lore entry. The world building is immersive, the magic system fascinating, and the journeys feel like we’re gearing up for an epic storybook.
While I would definitely recommend this book, I would do it with a note to have some patience with the beginning. For the first little bit of reading, I struggled to keep track of who was who and questioned once or twice if it would pick up. *I promise you it does*. By the end of this book, I was attached to the characters and I’m excited to see where the author takes the story through the rest of the series. I for sure will be picking up book two as soon as it’s available (that cliffhanger was a bit rude and I’m craving more).

I am so thankful for having the opportunity to read this book. I couldn’t put it down and am anxious for the next book.
It has all the things you could ask for in an epic fantasy. Adventure, danger, hidden information, prophesies, humans, elves, dwarves, witches and dragons. There is so much going on throughout and with the different perspectives but it all flowed together so smoothly. The quest they embark on is full of surprises and still so much to come in future book(s).
The characters are fantastic. Enya has a gift sure but she is headstrong and seems to find danger at every turn. Her relationships with others throughout add so much to the story and her development. The side characters alone have such interesting pasts, and I want to know more about all their escapades too.
Highly recommend reading Silverbow if you love fantasy and especially epic fantasy with some romantic slow burn tension (no spice). I for one can’t wait for the next book!

This book had me in the first few pages! I absolutely loved it! For me it is like Throne of Glass mixed with Lord of the rings! oh my heart oh wow!! the ending only made me want more! when is the next book coming!! the story is excellent and written so well.

**ARC Review**
I was happy to be able to read the ARC for this book. I will be honest and say that I struggled with the first 50% of the book due to the amount of characters being introduced so quickly. I had trouble remembering who was who (aside from the core group of characters) because of the quick introduction.
I really enjoyed the latter part of the book as magical systems were given more attention and secrets were revealed as to the true identity of our FMC.
I am curious to see where the saga will go with all of the different POVs and how they will be intersected. I also think that the book ended at a good point, leaving room to set up the next book.

I read this book as an ARC and I loved it. The first small part of the book is a lot of world and character building. Once I got 1/4 of the way through, I had a difficult time putting it down! There are multiple POV’s and I really enjoyed that. Romantasy with a slow burn, unique magic, dwarves, witches and dragons. And that ending cliff- hanger now has me waiting and watching for book 2!

Silverbow by Noelle Parker is a new fantasy romance with an exceptional slow burn and a well-developed story. Parker spends the beginning of her novel weaving a very intricate but engaging and detailed tapestry of the world in which her characters reside. Feeling a little similar to that of regency/Georgian England combined with fae, witches, elves and dwarves similar to that of the Lord of the Rings, along with elemental magic similar to what is found in Avatar The last Airbender, Parker creates an automatically winning combination.
Her novel begins in a rural, small village very similar to that of a country estate of a lord or lady in regency England primarily used before the season. We meet Enya and her family which consists of her father, and the wonderful staff that support the small farm manor. Every single individual that lives and works within the farm is a family member to Enya and together they raise, breed, and sell the finest horses in the land. As an only child beint raised her by her father and the various members of their household, Eny is not what one would consider a traditional lady despite being the daughter of a lord expected to marry well. Enya has her own ideas about what life should bring and it does not include being shackled to a boring Lord who will become the heir of the estate. Enya would rather raise and train horses and explore the world around her with her best friend and stable boy, Liam rather then act like a lady and be courted.
Everything about the world built by Parker feels familiar and comfortable with the exception of something fantasy typically doesn't focus on, a world where magic is forbidden. In this world the reigning monarch of the land has deemed magic something for him to control and for no one else to have freedom to use; to be gifted is a death sentence as everyone taken by the king, never return. A recurring event that occurs across the land is The Testing in which children of a various age across their lifespan are tested to see if a gift or magic has developed; should it develop they are immediately whisked away and forced the servitude of the King through a painful and abusive collar that stifles their magic and allows others to control it. Similar to that of The Reaping from The Hunger Games, or Conscription Day in Fourth Wing or presentation to the queen for the opening of the season in Bridgerton, The Testing brings a sense of apprehension, confusion, and a little bit of dread. Enya is not new to having lost friends and neighbors to The Testing and with every cycle she worries more and more for herself and Liam despite claims by her father that magic does not exist in their lineage.
However magic is known to be fickle so there is always a little bit of apprehension for her on the off chance that something presents itself. Part of that fear stems from the fact that Enya is unnaturally good at using a bow and arrow, coined Sana Silverbow by her family, named for the legend and lore surrounding the fabled woman who had a godsung gift for the bow and therefore never missed her target, was able to make impossible shots and wheeled her gift in defense of her people making her a hero. This unnatural talent makes Enya nervous regarding the testing as she is unaware of whether or not this is a Godsung gift or just something that she's naturally good at.
When The Testing leaves Enya safe but shaken, a seemingly coincidence visit by four demi-elves (a race of individuals looked down on by elves and feared by humans) presents a unique opportunity, go with them and seek Sanctuary over the board where all with magic are safe.
Through a series of chaotic events, impulsive yet self sacrificing choices, Enya ends up in the company of these demi-elves on her way to safety.
In Parker's world there are two forms of magic: Godsong vs. Godsung. To have Godsong magic means the user has all of the magic of the elements and it was bestowed upon ancient elven bloodlines and passed down through human/elf relations. To have Godsung magic means user was favored by a God and then gifted that God's form of magic which is then passed down family lines. In short, Elves have some level of each type of God elemental magic whereas most mortals/humans with magic have a smaller variation that is usually limited to a single type of magic or skill. As it turns of the small posse of demi-elves traveling with Enya are bounty hunters in search of mortals with magic so as to help them to safety or to a place where their magic will have purpose, use and freedom. As demi-elves they are magic users of the Godsong variety and are required to tamper their magic down while traveling in the realm as it can be traced or sense by specific mortals wielding magic in the name of the King which means there is a lot of camping and avoidance of villages.
Uncertain about the magic Enya has, the group continues to travel together in hopes of finding answers, specifically the answers to why Oryn, one of the demi-elves will Godsong magic but a special relationship and connection to the goddess of air who continues to pull Oryn toward Enya for an unknown reason. The two seem drawn together with their power calling to each other.
Along the way to safety the characters meet a group of variety of individuals with past connections with the party members and intense power, bandits, witches, and dwarves. Enya is not all that she seems and yet she is not truly aware of how deep the secrets about her identity go. As things are revealed to herself and her party it becomes apparent that there is way more at work behind the scenes and deep within the legends and lore of their land that meets the eye.
Parker's development of the world and characters through the long journey over the span of several weeks into months makes each character very unique, dynamic and easy to get attached to. Each member of the party is well established despite some of their background not being fully flushed out yet in this first book of what is sure to be a very detailed and engaging series.
What I love most about Parker's writing is the fact that she plays and utilize a lot of common lore found throughout fantasy but also puts her own spin on the magics and political dynamics of the world to make everything seem fresh and new. I also really enjoyed Parker's take on different elemental magics; the magic of the spirit being not only similar to empaths but also allows the user to dream walk with rules and limitations. Oryn's connection to Enya is very well telegraphed, and not super surprising given the genre, however the way in which the relationship builds and established is engaging and unique; it's not all flash, passion and spice, but rather a relationship built on truly knowing, seeing and shared experiences with one another.
Did I mention the differ POVs which really keep you on your toes but in the best way!
I'm very excited for the sequel novel because the end of this book was not necessarily left on a dire, anxiety-inducing cliffhanger but one that left me scratching my head at the motivation of the main characters. Parker did such an outstanding job of developing the characters inner monologues through different povs but choosing characters with meaning and value to the overall plot even if you're not immediately familiar with who they are.
My only criticism is that I think it would be very beneficial to have either a glossary or a small index in which further explanation can be laid out regarding the specific vocabulary associated with this world; Godsung and Godsong are very close and are sometimes used interchangeably as are the words wielder, wielding, second, and heir. If a glossary or an index of terms could be provided perhaps even a list of characters I genuinely think that I would have read the book quicker only because I wouldn't be constantly trying to remember who specific people are. Parker does such a good job of developing the world early on in the first quarter of the novel that by the time action and real things start to occur you're left feeling like you should go back and reread the beginning now that you have additional knowledge from the current information.
Noelle Parker's passion for the genre and for writing comes through. Not knowing her personally, I can only assume that a lot of Enya's whit, charm, determination, and somewhat stubbornness may come from a place of personal experience. I sincerely look forward to the remaining novels in the series and cannot wait to own my very own copy and proudly represent the Ryerson House Family Stables.

If a glossary or an index of terms could be provided perhaps even a list of characters I genuinely think that I would have read the book quicker only because I wouldn't be constantly trying to remember who specific people are. Parker does such a good job of developing the world early on in the first quarter of the novel that by the time action and real things start to occur you're left feeling like you should go back and reread the beginning now that you have additional knowledge from the current information.
Noelle Parker's passion for the genre and for writing comes through. Not knowing her personally, I can only assume that a lot of Enya's whit, charm, determination, and somewhat stubbornness may come from a place of personal experience. I sincerely look forward to the remaining novels in the series and cannot wait to own my very own copy and proudly represent the Ryerson House Family Stables.
For anyone who loves horses, magic, broody characters, empowered stubborn characters and multiple villains with unclear motives... Read this dang book immediately!!

I NEED BOOK 2! Like now! The book hangover I have already is almost as bad as it was when i finished Onyx Storm!
Enya Ryerson is the female main character and her character development is amazing! When she feels her life shift, all she cares about is her family and their safety, putting her on an adventure where she discovers more than just truth. I can't wait to see what else Noelle Parker comes up with. I definitely recommend this book. Especially if you like A Court of Thorns and Roses and Fourth Wing.

All I can say is WOW!! I absolutely loved this book. I was a little nervous at first that I wouldn’t be able to keep all the characters straight but you did an excellent job with working them in the story. I loved the multiple points of view and I of course loved Enya’s strong presence. The cliffhanger has me in a chokehold and I can’t wait for the next one!!!

I’ll give this one of my rare 5 stars. It isn’t life changing, or even particularly unique, but it’s very good entertainment.
This probably falls into something of an epic fantasy category, but it avoids a lot of the pitfalls usually found in those. It does not go into excruciating detail, which is miraculous. Outside of LOTR, I can’t think of a single book where I appreciated extensive detail. Mind you, Tolkien spent a lifetime perfecting it, which is probably what it takes to make that sort of thing tolerable.
It isn’t pretentious enough to attempt to create an entire world. While there are several POVs, they follow the storyline, they don’t jump off to create others. At one point in my life I didn’t mind the WoT or Game of Thrones. I don’t have the attention span or interest anymore. We have a good story with an excellent pace. There’s no lagging, waiting around, or confusion about the plot. We’ve got one nice string, not a spaghetti plate of mediocre strings.
Speaking of POVs, it never commits the great POV sin of jumping in the middle of a climactic scene. They are used to provide the reader with information and perspective. They aren’t used as mini cliffhangers. I had a bit of trouble keeping up with name changes that were used from the differing perspectives, but it was fine.
This thing has its fair share of typos, if I remember correctly, but technicalities really don’t bother me.
I honestly never felt annoyed by the FMC, and I can’t remember the last time that happened. I was able to empathize with each choice. She did some dumb stuff but she was doing her best and it seemed like a good idea at the time to me, too. Most miraculously, while she is attracted to the MMC, that does not sway her opinions or actions. The girl knows how to hold a grudge and that’s something I can get behind. She keeps the same secrets I would’ve. She doesn’t make stupid assumptions. Most of all, she loves her horse. I also love her horse.
God bless the author for not using the FMC as an idiot prop. Is she pretty ignorant and uninformed? Yes. But she’s allowed to be competent and respectable at the same time. I didn’t have to spend one second being mad at her for being stupid, and that’s just priceless in this genre.
I like that the MMC spends time on the back foot, despite being overpowered and royal.
I can’t really accept his deal with the witch. We see the consequences before we see the deal, and they are absolutely horrific (a book gets points for making anything significant enough to be described with those words). I was thinking he must have done it in an act of pure desperation. To save the world or a friend or something to that extent. But we learn towards the end that he was just searching for information? That particular plot point pushes past believability. The book didn’t paint him to be a fool, so I have a serious issue accepting any of that.
But that’s the only plot point that I have a problem with. And maybe we’ll see more extenuating circumstances later.
It ends on a cliffhanger that wants to make me angry with the FMC, but since she hasn’t done anything stupid or disagreeable yet, I have faith that she knows what she’s doing (I want to again point out how incredibly rare that is). I also have very limited empathy for the MMC, given his past with the witch. Is it fair to be mad at him for something he did like 100 years ago? Maybe. It was pretty fucking awful.
Unlike so many books in romantasy, it has an excellent outrage balance. This might be purely subjective, but it has a huge impact on my enjoyment of a story. I feel angry enough to stay interested, but my temper never has to boil over into trigger or mood changing territory. In a scene where I want to hurt and hate the MMC, the FMC steps up and does it for me. It’s refreshing. I don’t know why more authors aren’t capable of doing this.
Also, there are dragons. Never has a book ever lost points for dragons.
I’m looking forward to book 2.

Firstly, thank you to Noelle Parker for the eARC. It was a real privilege to read your debut fantasy novel. All the thoughts and opinions in this review are completely my own. I will try and keep it spoiler free.
I absolutely loved this book! What a fantastic debut. I honestly couldn’t put it down and felt completely invested in the characters, especially Enya. I felt it was really well written and well paced. A really good mix of action, adventure and intrigue without it being too jam packed. So many intriguing bits of information, both about the history of the world and background of the characters, woven throughout the main story arc.
We are given lots of clever nuggets of information throughout the book that help answer questions as we go along. Some bits I managed to work out but by the end I still had many questions unanswered. There has got to be a book 2…I need answers! And that ending…what a good cliffhanger. It’s really got me thinking. It is hinted at that Enya has been working things out along the way but it isn’t revealed what she fully knows by the end. I can’t wait to see how this develops.
This was a multiple pov book - which initially I didn’t think I was going to enjoy as I thought it might be too many…but I really enjoyed it! There were a couple of characters I felt we lost sight of after seeing their parts of the story early on, so I would love to know more about them and hope this will happen in a second book.
I absolutely loved the world building - so complex and unique. The prologue, setting this world up, was beautifully written. Loved the musical references and it was a really different idea from any other books I’ve read recently.
I thought the cast of characters created were well rounded and had depth to them. I enjoyed the dynamics between Enya and her family and then with Oryn’s group. Enya is a feisty, independent FMC and I found it really easy to like her. I also thought Oryn was a strong MMC and enjoyed how his relationship developed with Enya. Colm has already become a firm favourite for me and the dwarves are fantastic.

If you're looking for an epic fantasy with rich world building and characters you will get to know and love intimately, Silverbow needs to be your next read. This is the type of book that can't simply be summarized, and needs to be experienced. There are so many great characters in this book, and I love that it is written from multiple points of view to better get to know each primary character. The style is reminiscent of Throne of Glass, which allows you to become intimately acquainted with a host of characters vs. just 1 or 2. For me, this makes the experience more immersive, almost as if I'm watching/reading a play. Out of all the characters introduced in Silverbow, I have to say that Enya and Oryn are my favorite. ♥️
Enya is sassy, headstrong, stubborn, often cranky and oh-so-lovable. Her ferocity is the type that is hard to dim, and she always has a trick up her sleeve.
"Enya bloody Ryerson was the kind of woman who torched villages and jumped out of windows".
Oryn is the type of big, broody, masculine man that most women fawn over in books (I know I do). He's just as headstrong as Enya, and their banter is so much fun to read. The intensity of Oryn jumps off the page, especially when he's interacting with or thinking about Enya (which is a lot!).
"Oryn Brydove might look like the gods he worshiped, but the bloody man was made of stone and she was his bloody bounty."
The Godly lore in this book is incredibly interesting, and the magic system is unique. There is a whimsical feel to this story that really draws you in and keeps you engaged, and every detail is important (I annotated the heck out of my book!). There's a prologue included that describes the Godly lore in a very musical, poetic way, and I found myself rereading this section often to really understand the concept (and because it's beautiful). There are a lot of subtle nods to the lore throughout the story, so I found it really helpful to have this information readily available to reference.
All in all, this is such a magical book, and a must-read for anyone who loves epic fantasy. I quite literally hugged this book when I was done reading it. Enya's story is just beginning, and I know that it's going to be one that lives close to my heart. 🫶

Silverbow by Noelle Parker is a high fantasy, multi-POV novel that took me by surprise in the best way. It’s heavily influenced by some of my favorite works of fiction (The Lord of the Rings and The Wheel of Time being clearly evident early on) but presents a unique and compelling story in its own right.
Enya is our story’s main protagonist - determined, impulsive, intelligent. We learn early on that she’s blessed with what is known as a “godsong,” or a special, god-given power. She’s a rarity: a “silverbow” meaning that she has an inhuman ability with a bow and arrow. We learn that there are other gifts, with the most common being the ability to wield one of the five elements: earth, air, fire, water and spirit. A corrupt king conscripts these wielders against their will through a process called “the testing.” To hide her gift and protect her home, Enya sets out on an adventure that takes the reader across a vast landscape with a cast of lovable (and loathable) characters and a world steeped in history, lore and culture.
I hated that real life got in the way of devouring this book in one sitting. Parker managed to balance both action and character development, and the multi-POV added to the depth of the story rather than bogging it down. There is a character for everyone to identify with (I’m a Colm stan) and because of this, the stakes always feel high. My one complaint is that some of the characters make impulsive decisions that put innocent bystanders at risk without much regard, and this feels more like a device to move the plot forward than a decision that they would have genuinely made. Overall though, this was a fantastically fun read and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next one.

A band of hot misfit half-elves.

I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about this book, but I definitely had my little “aha!” moments along the way. At first, the pacing felt slow especially the long stretch on the road. I kept wishing more would happen during her journey since I’m a reader who loves books that keep you on edge, never knowing what comes next. But even with the slower pacing, the world-building pulled me in enough to keep turning the pages.
I’ll admit, a part of me lowkey wished Liam would end up being Enya’s love interest (even though that a bit on the nose). He has his own POV, which makes me curious about how important he’ll become. Same with Enya’s dad—his perspective and background are super intriguing, and I loved the layers he adds to the story.
So this book has multi pov and I like that sometimes to tell story you need to tell it in different pov because I feel a lot get missed if it’s only done in one, but really I’m not picky about how a story is told as long as it’s a good one.
And then there’s that mysterious thread running through the book… the idea that Enya might have been switched at birth? That she might not be who she thinks she is? Now that got me hooked.
We finally got to meet the guy that hopefully is the love interest I mean there’s something there but it’s so painfully slow…. It’s going to be worth it if they do end up getting together and I’m gonna be celebrating it all the way.
By the time I hit 45%, I was yelling at the book “stupid! Please stop before you get caught!”
So yes, it got me emotionally invested.
In the end, even though the beginning dragged a bit and the pacing wasn’t always my favorite, this turned out to be such a cute gem. I’m really glad I stuck with it.
