I honestly am so torn with this book. I am on the fence if I totally loved it or totally hated it. This book is not for a faint of heart and involves some pretty intense and taboo relationships. It was like watching a train wreck and I couldn't look away. Being that I'm on the fence I'll say it's a 3 Star read but I'd probably almost lean more towards a 2.5. At times I was almost sickened by the story but it was enthralling and kept me reading and reading. I am also not sure if I liked the way this was written. This story alternates between past and present jumping back 15 years, 10 years, 3 years., months back and not in any particular order. The author is giving you glimpses of what has happened to make these characters behave the way they do. I am still not totally sure I understand how these characters are the way they are. You feel lost and confused. There are so many lies, secrets and sickening behaviors. I don't even know that I can give a run down of the events because things are so jumbled. Bottom line if you want to try this one out be warned it's graphic and nauseating at times, but for some reason I couldn't put it down.

*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review*

Logan Lost is one of those books that will always stick with me. When I started to read this, I had no idea of what I was reading. I hadn't even read a synopsis, kind of like going in blind. No genre, No hints. Nothing. Not, that it mattered. I have loved every single one of Author Emma L. Smith's books. I knew I would love this. The thing about her books that hooks me is, you never know what your going to get. Seriously, you could start on what may seem like a regular romance and pow! In comes something that blows everything off course and changes all rules. Logan Lost was the ultimate example of this style.
Lily Logan is an extremely successful woman. Worked hard and lives for her career. She is confident and takes no cr** off anyone. She doesn't need a man and doesn't want one. She is control and shows it right from the start.
It doesn't take long to realise why Lily is now like this. We are taken on a journey that time travels between the present and clips of the past. To show Lily's life and what takes place from her teen years to now.
To say that what has happened to Lily over the years was brutal, may not even cover it. The things that she has endured and experienced are extreme but are what has made her who she is.
I couldn't make my mind up about Lily, to start with I thought she was cold and hard. Yet reading on, I found that she is this way as that is how she was made. Also, I started to admire her strength, and the face that she puts on top on everything. When underneath she is obviously torn and drawn to something that seems beyond her control.
I'm not going to give anything away from this book. I didn't get any clues or ideas and I think it's enjoyed best going in that way. Any spoilers would ruin the effect it has on you.
As always with Emma's books, the writing style is addictive. The picture painted from her words is so clear, you feel sucked into the story. It's brutal and nothing is ever held back. But that is exactly the way I love it.
This isn't a classic love story and it would be best to acknowledge that fact before starting. The emotions and feelings that the characters have towards each other, are overwhelming and sometimes it can lull you into thinking and wanting it to turn into a conventional romance. Although saying that, the ending of this book is still 100% satisfying and leaves you feeling content. At least I was. :)
A book full of colourful characters. From Lily, to her 2 troubled brothers Tom and Joe, and Eliot the man trying to get to know Lily better. Every character has a story to tell and troubles they hide, that torment them.
I suppose I should point out that there is a great deal of sensitive subject matter in this book. Some of it did surprise me but it showed perfectly just how extreme the situations were and to what extent some characters would go.
If your reading this review then you have already read the synopsis, in which case you will know this is a dark romance of sorts and some parts of this book can be quite extreme. Most of you are here because that is the sort of books you love. In which case, you must read this!! You will love it. If your not, perhaps not your cup of tea? ;) I do love books that make my head & heart hurt and make me think a great deal. This was perfect, and I was still sat thinking about it for a great deal of time when it finished. If it leaves a lasting impression then it must be good!! Just be prepared, this isn't Gone with the Wind. Unless there is a naughty, dark version I'm not aware of?? ;)

"He looked at her and nodded once, displaying a grim resigned smile. She closed her eyes not knowing whether she felt happiness, relief or trepidation. As she opened her eyes slowly, his countenance was already considerably altered. His dark look had returned and he looked at her hungrily."

Again, I am so glad I came across Emma L.Smith's books. Her shock & wow factor continually keep me engrossed and entertained. An Addictive, dark and tormented read. 5 Stars!!!

*Thanks once again Emma for giving me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. *

Warning: This book is really truly not for the faint-hearted. There are many parts with graphic scenes which might later on be imbedded into your mind or make you sick. I warned you beforehand so if this happens, don't blame me ;)

Lily Logan, a successful, ruthless, but persuasive business woman has a cold heart according to people. She doesn't let too many people into her personal life, but that is due to the fact that she spent many of her 30 or so years in a harsh and abusive relationship with her adoptive brother, Tom Logan. She's not really sure how to let others into her messed up mind until she meets Eliot Marchant, a business man. However, this man also has some secrets of his own that just might deter their relationship. With both sides at odds with one another in terms of the skeletons in their closet, there is no shortage of arguments and fights which make your toes curl and bring you to the edge of nothingness.

OH MY GOSH. WOW. GOODNESS. When I first started the book, I didn't really know what to expect because even though I had read the synopsis, this wasn't usually the type of book that I would read so I had no idea how I would react to the events that occurred. But, WOW. This was an AMAZING read; Emma has once again blown me away with her writing. This was such an intense and passionate read that I was determined to finish it as soon as possible, staying up until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. I have way too many things to say about this book, but I'll try to keep it to the point. disillusioned This is probably the perfect word to describe Lily because although I love how persuasive she can be and how she can get many things that she needs from her persuasive nature and how fierce she is, she is also disillusioned by everything that Tom tells her and how he acts towards her. The whole time I literally was screaming, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS???! YOU ARE RUINING YOUR LIFE! OH MY GOSH!!!! Those moments were the ones that made me want to pull every inch of my hair off of my head. Ugh, she kept making mistakes that showcased a bit of her stubborn and also ignorant side. Then there's Tom, her supposed love. I really want to say things that aren't very appropriate, but I'll keep them inside. AGH TOM. I just wanted to be in the book myself and punch him in the face. FIRST CLASS MANIPULATOR I felt like he manipulated everyone around him and everyone was just putty into his charmed up words. This annoyed and aggravated me to no end because it was so obvious that he was a sick, twisted, sadistic person who wanted nothing more than to hurt the people around him, including Lily. I think Tom was a bit disillusioned as well into thinking that he could do whatever he wanted and not get in trouble for it. Even though I did feel some sympathy for him as to why he became who he was, in the end, I wasn't really sure if he was even truthful to the reason why he was who he was. I really really hated him throughout this story. He was a sick, disgusting, vile person whom everyone seemed to love, which I didn't get at all. Then there's Eliot and even though he has his own sick preferences, I felt as though he was the complete opposite of Tom in many ways and I sort of liked Eliot in some way which is weird. I LOVED Joe though, what he would do for his sister was unbelievable and incredible. Also, even though he had a brotherly relationship with Tom, I also loved how he wouldn't hesitate to kick Tom's ass if he ever hurt his sister nor would he hesitate to confront him about how he was treating his sister. I liked Jack and Paul as well, up to a certain extent. I just wished that Lily did eventually tell them everything because they are her best friends and I would've liked to read about how they would've reacted to everything that had happened in her life.

The whole time during the book I was so irritated and aggravated at all of the events that occured. Tom seriously, he was such a manipulator and I don't know how girls or ANYONE fell putty into his hands at all. He was a cruel, cold-hearted person and honestly how he first showed his "love" for Lily disgusted me. He violated everything that she was at that moment and psh, love or not, that was just repulsing. I can't believe that's what led Lily to actually want to love Tom, just it set me on edge. Sadistic methods or not, how Tom treated women is no way how anyone else should treat women. I felt like his methods went beyond sadism, I think they were more crazed than anything. This book showed me so much; that people become lost and disillusioned by what's around them. They believe in things and then create visuals with those things that aren't really reality. They don't see past the surface of things and although they think they do, I don't think they try hard enough, like with Lily. At times when she was about to bust Tom, I became excited, but then she just forgave him for everything that he had done which made me upset with her. Also, Lily was just too secure with Tom that she never really felt like she had to go out of her comfort zone and when people are comfy in their little zone, they never want to leave the safety of it. Then, there is the difference between sadism and dominance; I mean I don't particularly enjoy reading books based on the dominance of one sex; however, sadism is so cruel and vile and Tom exhibited every aspect of it and more. Anyways, overall, I was amazed by everything that went on with this story and it was an unbelievably soul-reaching and eye-opening story.

I'm pretty conflicted about how to rate this book. I thought Logan Lost started off strong and it pretty accurately depicted an abusive relationship.

I think this book lost me in the fact that there was no character growth. We see about 15 years of abuse and there was only so much of Lily letting Tom walk all over her that I could take.

For the most part, it could be argued that every single character had something wrong with them. Lily is obviously suffering from battered woman syndrome, Tom is abusive and narcissistic, Joe is an alcoholic, Gina has been married at least five times before she was 30 (maybe not a huge problem), Eliot was financially irresponsible, and all the men in Lily's life were so enamored by Tom that they never helped her escape from a man that they knew was abusing her. Some of them even encouraged the relationship. They all seemed to enable each other. People would lure Joe out with alcohol. Joe would ask Tom what Lily did to make him attack her. There was also a general sense of calm whenever anyone died as if it didn't matter. It was off-putting.

I never understood why Lily loved Tom because I never saw him as a good person. Not once did I see him do something that made me think, "Oh, this would make up for all of the bad." Perhaps that was the point. It just drove me crazy that Tom would repeatedly leave Lily and she would beg to get back with him. She had an inheritance, so she didn't need him financially. There was no custody issue that would tie them together. He was extremely abusive. He repeatedly . He was a sadist and she wasn't a masochist. I just didn't see the appeal. Perhaps, that was the point.

Where I think this book succeeded is that it's something that I could see actually happening (to a point). So many women get stuck in a cycle of violence that they never escape. So many people have vices that they never give up. In that sense, the author does a great job of showing the readers that not everyone can be saved or changes. However, it's a personal preference of mine to at least see someone try to escape their situation, even if they don't succeed. I don't think anyone in this book wanted to change. Tom kept saying that he wanted to and kept breaking things off with Lily, but I couldn't see that as anything other than him manipulating her. None of the characters ever redeemed themselves.

In the end, I think it was part frustration and part "It's me, not the book" that led to my 3-star rating. I would, however, be willing to read more of the author's work!

Well developed and thought out and my attention held from start to finish, and the last 1/4 was omg what the actual f*ck. Was not expecting that!

My second novel from Emma, well written, great characters, this one isn't for the faint hearted, beware.... there is domestic abuse and sexual sadism that some readers may find offensive. It is not suitable for anyone under 18. I found Tom, Lily's adoptive brother Vile, he made my skin crawl, he was the pure villain. Lilly loved him and I could understand why she did.

Everything is explained in flashbacks to the past, Lily makes some frustrating decisions, I am screaming at her to go, don't do that but, we wouldn't have a story if she didn't do these things!! And if Tom suddenly became a changed man then hey, it wouldn't be the story it is.

Can't wait to read another from Emma...

Wow, what a twisted wild read! Not for the faint of heart. Book deals with some strong subject matter. Despite that it was an interesting read and I'll be thinking about this for days to come, I love how I didn't know what to expect. Which is the beauty of such an epic read. The author kept me guessing up until the end in terms of how things would be resolved. I loved the characters despite their behavior, secrets and actions.

DNF at about 50%. This book continually went back and forth weaving a story about (I think) a young woman sexually manipulated and abused by an older step brother. The back and forth (I think) was trying to justify the young woman continually going back to the step brother even though it only led to more abuse. It was very confusing and I just couldn't go on (this part I know).
