I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Ghost is a quick and easy-to-read mystery/ghost story. Jess wakes up at the bottom of her stairs with blood on her head and hands and doesn’t remember falling. Her head injury is the obvious explanation for her memory loss and hallucinations … until she has to pick up after her hallucinations. Unable to remember what happened, she succumbs to the pounding headache and decides to take a nap in the living room in case she sleepwalked her way into the fall. Of course this is big no-no in Concussions 101, but what’s a single girl to do when the only company she seems to have is a ghost – a handsome ghost, but a ghost nonetheless. The mystery ramps up when she wakes at the base of the stairs, again bleeding from her head wound. Fortunately the headache is gone and she is more determined to suss out the events the led to her fall, memory loss, and sudden acquisition of a ghost.

Because this is a ghost story and there’s really only a couple of ways for it to go, the ending is mildly predictable. But as someone who reads romances banking on a happy ending more often than not, it’s the journey from the first page to the last that I enjoy and Ms. Alexander has delivered. Due to Jess’s memory loss and the gradual regaining of her memories, we “solve” the mystery along with her only gaining a step or two ahead because we get a peek into her ghost’s thoughts as well. I was satisfied with the resolution that followed Jess’s remembering what led to her fall and enjoyed the promise of romance Jess got at the very end. Ghost was an enjoyable and well-written short story and I look forward to checking out more of the author’s work.

I’m giving Ghost a rare half-star for a 3.5 star rating. It’s better than good (3 stars) but not quite to the I-really-liked-this-book 4-star rating. I don’t tend to give out half-stars because a book usually is or it isn’t, but Ms. Alexander has me straddling the ratings on this one.

It is always incredible to have the chance to read and review a book. Many thanks to Dani-Lyn Alexander for providing a copy of Ghost in exchange for an honest review and to Nicole Kuhn of NK Author Services for allowing participating in this Review Tour!

This paranormal short story was such a great read that I wish it had been longer! Ms. Alexander did a wonderful job writing these characters in such a short story! I was intrigued from the very beginning of the story and it was hard to put it down once I got going.

One thing I truly dislike about reviewing short stories is not giving spoilers when I'm writing the review, but it's worth having my hands tied to have this one available. I'll share a quick snippet that I particularly enjoyed to give you a feel for Ms. Alexander's writing.

He had to relieve some of her tension. He couldn’t bear to watch her suffer any longer, not when he could possibly offer her relief. Soon enough, she was going to have to remember. He would give her as much peace as he could before that happened. Brushing a stray lock of hair tenderly behind her ear, he stayed with the woman he loved until she fell asleep. ©Dani-Lyn Alexander (Kindle Locations 162-166).

The writing is excellent and the story intriguing and well developed. The characters drew me in and I wanted to know right away who they were and how they were connected.

I highly recommend Ghost by Dani-Lyn Alexander and give it five steaming, ghostly cups of Room With Books coffee. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Jess slowly comes to. As her thoughts clear the pain sets in. Her head is killing her and she’s been bleeding.

What happened? What is she doing on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. Why can’t she remember?

Pulling herself together she heads to the bathroom to clean herself up. A glimpse in the mirror reveals something behind her. What was it? It was there then not there.

Jess begins to see it more frequently. She just needs the apparition to coalesce, to become clearer. She’s sure she knows who it is. But she can’t remember.

Could the fall have knocked her senseless?. Is the apparition real? One question looms largest, should she be scared?

I was engrossed, reading away, and suddenly there was no more to read. I had to chuckle. I forgot this was a short story. I was having such fun I wanted it to be longer.

As I read the ending I had to reread it. I liked it that much.

This is a mysterious, scary, ghost story and a good introduction to the authors writing. I’ll be reading more of Dani-Lyn’s books.

First, I would like to thank Nicole Kuhn and Dani-Lyn Alexander for providing me this book so I may bring you this review.

Usually, I am not a fan of paranormal stories. However, Dani-Lyn's writing style and her attention to details made it very intriguing. As the reader I wanted to know who Noah was. Why she was haunting her the way that he was.

One section in the book that I enjoyed was:

"This is just terrific. I haven't been interested in a man in five years, and the first man I'm attracted to is nothing more than a fantasy most likely created by an overactive imagination or a head injury." She couldn't resist the urge to reach out and touch him, but when her fingers met the cold glass, the image disappeared. Laughing out loud, she dismissed all of her worries and headed for the shower."

Ghost was an interesting book that has you wondering what is going on. It was only 26 pages so it was a very fast book to read. I thought what the author did in this short book was great. I wish it was longer because it just ends and it has you wondering what happened next. If you like ghost stories and you want a fast book to read this is the book for you.
The character growth was pretty good. I want to know more about Noah. I like the twist and turns and the mystery of this book. This is the first book I have read from this author and I will be reading more from her.
Over all I give it 4 Stars

Ghost was an interesting, short read. I was immediately intrigued by the story and I thought the way everything unfolded was very cool. It was confusing at times, but it all made sense in the end. I actually read it 3 times, just to fully understand everything. It only took me about half an hour to read the whole thing, so re-reading it was fun and easy. I do wish that there was a little more explanation of Jess and Noah's relationship. One draw back to it being so short was that I didn't feel very invested in that. But I enjoyed reading it and I'd recommend it.

This a quick short story - we meet Jess who comes too on her floor with a gash in her head and no recollection of how she got there.
Is she going mad? is she sleepwalking?
she begins to see shadows which then take the shape of a man - she definitely thinks she is going mad, esoecially when she reaches out for the shape only to be met with the mirror.

This is a great wee suspense, ghost story with a hint of mystery to it.
It is hard to review without giving too much away when a book is so short :)

Ghost is a short, but sweet, story of Jess who wakes up one morning not where she'd gone to sleep and Noah who helps her learns the truth of a few things.

The story has a few heart-pounding spots but is over all sad and sweet. There's no answer to the final question asked, but the reader is left with a small sense of peace nonetheless.

I'm a huge believer in the veil and of spirits and it's nice to see a story where the spirits aren't malicious but truly trying to get a message across and to help.

I would recommend any lover of ghost stories read this book.

I give this book 4 of 5 paws

Ghost by Dani-Lyn Alexander is a tense, mysterious short story. Main character Jess awakens only to find out she's suffered a fall. How did it happen? Things become even more wondrous when she spots the outline of a man in the room with her. Is she being haunted? Did her spectral visitor hurt her? These answers will be found in the fast-paced tale, along with a romance and twist. Like ghost stories? Don't have much time to read? Ghost is for you!

Hard to give a review on such a short story without giving anything away. Let's just say it's a romantic mystery. After a bump on her head Jess thinks she's going crazy, especially when she starts seeing Noah, a ghost who's in love with Jess. He lived in the cottage before her and he's watched her go through her divorce, subsequent depression and healing. What's going on? You have to read it to find out

This was a really great little novella. It was a quick read... but it kept me thinking the whole time I was reading. I think the author did a great job of keeping you confused and feeling lost with Jess. I won't say much more.... because I hate to give a single thing away about such a short mysterious story. But, I will say that I had a true moment of "oooooohhhhhh.... I totally didn't see that until just this moment!"

I always love a good mystery twist!

There were a few editing errors throughout the book. But not enough to keep you from enjoying the book. For someone like me who sees EVERYTHING, it stuck out. But I still enjoyed the story. It was a freaky story that had you guessing until the end! This was quite a suspenseful story for being so short. A good little read.

I WAS A LITTLE CONFUSED AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS SHORT STORY BUT ONCE I GOT PAST THAT . THE BOOK BECAME ADDICTIVE. I COULDN'T READ FAST ENOUGH TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT. WOULD LOVE TO SEE A PREQUEL TO THIS BOOK ABOUT THE PERSON WHO OWNED THE HOUSE BEFORE JESS LIVED IN IT.
