2015 Golden Flogger Award FINALIST for Best BDSM Novel of the Year via BDSM Writers'Con
***Contains explicit sexual content (including multiple partners and gender pairings) and mature situations which could be trigger-inducing for some readers.***
Catherine O'Chancey is a young submissive who has found her happily ever after with a man far better than she’d ever dreamed.
Or has she? When does life ever work out so conveniently?
Jayden Masterson first opened his playroom to Catherine, a provocative Irish beauty with a penchant for pain. Then he opened his heart to her everyday persona, Erin. For him, life has never been more perfect, or more confusing, since he's comfortable as a Dominant but still finding his way as a lover and equal partner. Jayden is also learning that he can't protect his jewel from everything—nor should he. Some battles she must fight on her own.
Erin's past still haunts her, and as the couple move forward in their merging relationship, they must cope with the physical damage left behind by her abuser.
Catherine and her Master still have a lot to learn about each other, and about themselves. If Jayden and his jewel can overcome the challenges they face on the next chapter of their journey, their ending just might be . . . Surreal.
Domestic engineer. Dreamer. And quite possibly certifiable.
Believing every story can shine bright with a bit of tenacious tough love, R.E. Hargrave is thorough and to the point. An international bestselling author, she takes storytelling and manuscript polishing seriously, working with her authors and on her own creations to ensure they come to life, crawling from the pages and into the reader's souls. Hargrave lives on the outskirts of Dallas, TX and is married to her high school sweetheart; together they are raising three children. A native 'mutt,' she has lived in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Alabama, Texas, and California. She is fond of setting her stories--which range from the sweet to the paranormal, to the erotic and horrific--on location in South Carolina and Texas. Hargrave is best known for her erotic BDSM series, The Divine Trilogy. The final book in the trilogy, Surreal, was a 2015 Golden Flogger Award Finalist with BDSM Writer's Con. In 2017, her short novella Brooklyn Blues was also a GFAFinalist.
I received this book as an ARC for my honest opinion. Catherine and Jayden yes they do it again. I don't want to give away too much but with said it was so worth the wait! There are some surprises in the book, you wont want to put it down. Romance, bdsm, yes read it. Re Hargrave put her heart and soul into this book! Did I say amazing?! ;-)
Surreal was without a doubt one of best books I have ever read!!! I love Catherine & Jayden together. They both grew as people and as a couple. It was so heartwarming how Natalie was brought into the story & how Catherine & Jayden not only become heroes for her, but also took her in under their wings!! I was thrilled that we were finally planning their wedding & I was excited and I couldn't wait! There were a few surprises along the way(I don't want to give anything away but WOW)....in fact it was the kind of book you don't put down till you finish it & than your sorry it's done!!!LOL I thought the ending was perfect; other than I was sorry to see it end! :D I really felt like I got to know this couple inside & out, I love when the characters actually feel like old friends & this Divine Series has done just that!!! This series has had it all for me, from romance to BSDM. I would recommend it to everyone who is up for that combo!!
What an amazing 3rd book in this series! I love this series like no other! Jayden is one smoking, sexy, caring Dom that loves with all he has! Erin is an amazing sub that keeps surprising me as the story goes on! She's strong, sensual, caring, loving and most of all submits to her Dom with all her soul! This is one of those books that you want more from, one that gives you so much that you keep taking it all in and just can't stop! I loved this series and hope and pray there are more like this one to come from an amazing Author who has put so much into what she writes! I Truly ❤️you as an author, fellow reader and friend! As a reader if you can't handle some very intense scenes, love, BDSM the. Keep looking, but if you can and you want to be drawled into a story, life and love then pick this series, book up and enjoy the story of Erin and Jayden! 10++ stars
I was lucky enough to beta read this book. I have been waiting for what seems like forever for surreal, for more of Catherine and jayden. I managed to read this is one day, and that's impressive considering the size of the book! that's how much I enjoyed it. written to perfection as always from RE Hargrave. Catherine and Jayden's story continues in the divine trilogy. It has its love, drama and emotions. This one had a considerable amount of emotional moments to the point I nearly cried...so keen them tissues handy ;) I can't express how amazing this book is, how amazing the whole trilogy is and am planning to read them all again in the future!
I can still remember the first time I met Jayden and Catherine, and it thrills me to this day. As a result, I allowed myself a little quiet time before starting this book, to remind myself of not just the journey the characters had already been on, but the journey I had been on as a result of reading these books. You see, Ms Hargrave was the one to introduce me to BDSM and the thrills you could get from reading a book of this nature. Before that very first time (just about 18 months ago) when I picked up the first installment, I never would have dreamed I'd be as hooked on Jayden and Erin's story as I am today. And so, without further ado, I'm going to tell you why Surreal was my best read of 2014, and why I seriously doubt it will ever move from my top 5 books. Ever.
One thing I adored about this book (and there were plenty, so bear with me if I get my ordinals in a tizz), was how beautifully it continued on from the rest of the series. As someone who had read the first two books, I knew what was going on, but that doesn't mean I didn't appreciate the little recap to bring me back up to speed. This was perfectly pitched - someone like me had just enough to open the floodgates and rekindle the love, but a new reader would have ample to keep them going through the book (although if that were me, I'd have gone back to the beginning right there).
The character development through this novel was another piece of exemplary writing. Jayden and Erin both faced very different and unique challenges to what they had in the previous novels, and to watch them work through these together made for brilliant reading. They've both reached a new stage in their lives where perspectives change, their wants and needs as individuals and couples are different, but still Hargrave writes them with a realism and beauty that surpasses most other authors out there.
Well, let's get to the point of it - the sex. Wow. Oh my. Jaydenisoneseriouslyhotpieceofass. Oh, my bad, no spaces? But seriously. Oh. My. Goodness. Quite simply, the sex is phenomenal. The stuff these two get up to is inspirational, honestly. If I had a guy half as good as Jayden (or maybe if I even had a guy....) I'd be reading this as a couple and reenacting certain parts! It's so well written, pacy, detailed and above all exciting. I wanted to be Erin, I wanted Jayden to be my Master and above all, I wanted this to all be real because that's how it felt. At times I have to admit that I reached for cold water and a fan, it was that hot, but it's all safe, consensual, within their own limits. That's something that not all authors take the care to convey, but Hargrave clearly shows a responsibility to her readers - she knows that some will want to go out and try this stuff, so she gives them the signs and tips to make sure that they don't hurt themselves. I have learned more about sex and safe practice through her books than any sex ed class at school - fact.
Something else I loved about this book was that Hargrave left those odd few spaces which allow the reader to have their own questions. You want to keep reading, but you can hear your cogs ticking as you are thinking over that last scene or plot twist. And when you've put the book down, it leaves you thinking even more, it literally consumes so many moments in thought that you could live in this world. That's a super positive for me as I like a book to suck me in, hold me captive in the world created by the author, and Hargrave does this so much better in Surreal than all of her other works combined. Of course, the only downside to this is the book hangover - and be prepared cause it's a doozie (I lost nearly a week mooning over Jayden). You truly didn't expect, or want, the book to finish. Even now, much later on, I'm still wanting (and hoping) for more of Jayden and Erin because I adore them so much.
But for all my mooning and love of the sex scenes, it was actually some of the most vanilla parts of the book that were my favourite. Ms Hargrave is without a doubt one of the best and most skilled authors I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Certain scenes (and I shan't spoil here) were utterly mind blowing, taking my breath away and flooring me with their brilliance. Hargrave truly is a master of her craft.
And so, sadly, just like the trilogy all things must end, but boy did this end on a high. Surreal is, by far, the crowing glory of this trilogy and Hargrave should be immensely proud of what she has created. I recommended these books to all I met, but I do so with an added vigour after reading Surreal. Thankyou for this book, this series, for opening my eyes.
But above all, thankyou for writing and for letting me have this experience. It's been divine, sublime, surreal from start to finish.
*This book was first reviewed on Lily Loves Indie as part of a blog tour, for which an ARC was received in return for an honest review*
I received a free copy of SURREAL for my honest review.
Let me start off by saying I waited a whole year for Surreal. Every couple of days I would head over to RE's facebook page and give a little nudge, asking if she's writing, and any time she put out a snippet of Surreal I would faithfully share. So I waited, and waited, and FINALLY it ended up on my kindle and I was SOOOO excited.
I read Surreal SLLOOOWWWLY so I could savor it. And savor it I did. I LOVE Ms. Hargrave's writing. She brings Master Jayden and Catherine (Erin) to life. Her BDSM scenes are sooo flippin hot. I really can't compare it to anything else that's out there because no one else that I've found is as comprehensive and realistic as Ms. Hargrave is. It's seriously panty drenching. No, really, I'm not lying or just saying this because she's on of my top authors. You can "see" all the work that goes into each and every novel she publishes, and Surreal is no different. At almost 400 pages and 50,000 words she puts her all into it and you can tell.
The storyline is so fluid, the characters are just so amazing and her wording...I swear I can feel Jayden's breath on my neck, or the rose lightly cascading over my skin, and yeah, she makes me think that I would love to feel the thwack of the flogger and the pinkening of my skin (yeah, I've never had the opportunity to foray into the world of BDSM but, damn, she makes me want to try!) and submit. From the world of orgasm denial, pleasure in pain, whippings, spankings, floggers, cuffs and blindfolds to forced orgasms, multiple partners, m/m, m/f/m, nipple clamps, and dildo's. Surreal has it all and more. Love, Commitment, Devotion, Domination, Submission. Surreal encompasses all of human emotion.
My earlier reviews of the first two books in the Divine Series say exactly what I still feel...that the Fifty Shades phenom has NOTHING on the Divine Series. It's like Sesame Street compared to Breaking Bad. Fluff compared to substance. Have I said yet that it's seriously panty drenching? My husband has enjoyed my 3 days of reading as well as I have.
Thank you so much R E Hargrave for delving into the land of BDSM and bringing it out amongst the masses that can only dream of that which you write.
I have to start out with saying this is one of my most favorite Indie Author series ever!! RE Hargrave can weave words together beautifully, but she knows how to grab you and keep you immersed, wanting more and more. She never sacrifices true representation for entertainment sake, but she does know how to make reality completely enticing. Surreal is the last book in the Divine Trilogy series, and as sad as I was to see the series end, I am so happy with the results. Catherine and Jayden are an amazing couple and the love and admiration poured out of those two right through the pages and into my soul. I felt every loving look, caressing touch, and sweet word from both Erin and J. Regardless of how much this book gave, and it gave a lot, I still walked away wanting more. It was that good. If you haven't started this series yet, I suggest you don't waste another moment.
I am one of the lucky few who got to beta read this wonderful story. WOW, RE Hargrave did an amazing job capturing the love, respect and trust that couples in this lifestyle go through. Catherine and Jayden grew as individuals and as a couple in this series and went through a range of emotions through out this book with all the wonderful surprises that were in this last installment of The Divine Trilogy.
I'm not going to give anything away because this is the perfect ending for these wonderful trilogy. I am sad to see Catherine and Jayden's story end but I can not wait to see what stories RE Hargrave has for us next.
This was my favourite book of the trilogy. You can really see and feel the love and trust between Erin and Jayden. They've both grown so much both as individuals and a couple. We really got to know them both and this is the perfect ending to their story.
I was completely hooked and didn't want to put it down. This is an absolutely fantastic BDSM erotica series. It's well written and realistic.
The narration by Hollie Jackson was great. It was clear and easy to follow.
This entire series has been amazing and the last book doesn't disappoint. This series is unlike so many others in this genre because there are no "bad guys" or high drama plot lines. The story is just that, a love story. Yes, both main characters have to fight their inner demons but they do so gracefully and hand in hand with their lover. It was a great experience to escape into their story and feel the love they have for each other. I was sad to see this series end but will definitely be returning to re-read many times!
Be warned, the scenarios in this book are graphic and not to be taken lightly.
Audiobook version: Most BDSB series you read are just a little Slap here a little bondage there. This series was much much more but in the best way. In the 1st book, you see a full on Master Sub relationship. As the series progresses, you see the relationship evolve into one of love and submission. In this 3rd book, you see Where this new relationship can take you. It was a great conclusion to an awesome series. Thank you!
The narrator was great. I would have loved a little more masculine Male voice in this role but all in all it was great!
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I have been a voracious reader my whole life. Reading offers me the chance to escape to amazing worlds. I’ve read thousands of books in my lifetime and have enjoyed the adventures they have provided. But sometimes a special book will come along that is just pure magic. Surreal by R.E. Hargrave is one such book.
Everything about Surreal came together in a perfect, harmonious combination of elements – a literary symphony. The characters resemble the woodwind family providing different sounds and notes. The drama is the percussion that beats throughout the story. The romance is played by the string family, with the deep, full sounds vibrating throughout. Ms. Hargrave was the conductor as she masterfully found the right balance of love, passion, conflict, and discovery to create a beautiful concerto of words.
Catherine and Jayden’s story continues in Surreal, the third book in the Divine trilogy. Over three books, I have come to know these characters inside and out and they have become family. They are so perfect together and I have to admit to some envy over their undeniable bond. Ms. Hargrave created amazing characters that were so life like that I forget they were fictional. Throughout the three books, both evolved and matured; together they were much more than the sum of their parts.
One of the reasons this book, and the series for that fact, appealed to me was because of the realism of the plot. The drama that this couple faced was the normal drama of two people learning to love and discovering how to be together. Because of this authenticity, I was better able to relate to Catherine and Jayden. Even the secondary characters were fully developed and fit beautifully into the storyline.
Ms. Hargrave’s writing is so smooth and flows so naturally that I found myself completely immersed in the story and lost all track of time. Once I began reading, I did not want to put the book down and found myself staying up all night until I had reached the very emotional and completely satisfying ending. I loved every part of the story and couldn’t imagine Catherine and Jayden’s life being any different than the way it was written. Some plot points I was able to guess at, but Ms. Hargrave still had a few surprises up her sleeve that will delight the reader.
The Divine Trilogy was an emotional journey for not only these characters, but for me as a reader. I could not have asked for any more from Ms. Hargrave than what she did – write a beautiful story about intriguing characters that entertained me and touched my heart. And in doing so, she has earned not only my admiration and respect, but gratitude. The dictionary defines the word divine as being supremely good or superb; in that case, The Divine Trilogy was appropriately titled because that’s exactly how good this series was. This is a must read series!
I was given an ARC of R. E. Hargrave’s Surreal in exchange for an honest review.
What can I say about a series that has captivated my heart from its very first incarnation? About a journey Erin and Jayden/Catherine and her Master take whereby both of them learn and grow through one another?
To Serve is Divine, the first book in the series, gives us insight into how the pair meet, how their relationship begins and how Erin begins to confront the demons of her past. We watch as she blooms as both a woman and a sub under Master Jayden’s guiding hands.
A Divine Life, the second in the series begins one year into their relationship, the story not only giving the reader a feast for the senses (I swear the scenes were so intense I needed a cold shower or two after), but offering insight into Erin’s mindset as each scene unfolded. Jayden is already a changed man – the love of a good woman – the right woman for him – the end of arrangements he’d had with other submissives just the beginning of his metamorphosis.
In Surreal, the third and final piece of the series, we find our lovers on the road to cementing their lives in each and every way. It isn’t only Erin who is set on the path to true healing. Jayden also embraces the role of loving (as well as hot) partner, thereby adding another dimension to his deliciously Dominant persona.
What I loved about Surreal (and in fact the entire series), is the strength of the connection these two share from start to finish. How the characters read one another like a book, achieving a far deeper understanding of what the other needs at any given time. Limits are pushed, and testing times lay ahead for the couple, but as they met every obstacle with a united front, the love they have for one another shines through. I also enjoyed the fact that you never quite knew when Master Jayden was going to come out to play, the switch between lovers to Dom/sub occurring so seamlessly, it was organic.
Brilliantly written, and with wonderful character development, The Divine Series is simply one of the best I’ve had the privilege of reading. Surreal, the last in the series, is the icing on this most delicious, most decadent of cakes. Not only are the scenes unique as well as sizzling, Hargrave gives us the right balance between heat and passion and an absorbing storyline, one never detracting from the other.
I have to admit, reaching the end of this series has been a bittersweet sensation for me. This story has owned me over such a long period of time, it’s as though a child I’ve known and loved for many years has suddenly left home. At the same time I'm excited for what comes next!
Thank you, Ms. Hargrave, for taking me on the journey of a lifetime. It's been truly Divine.
The time has come for the end of this trilogy and I don’t mind saying, this is one of the hardest reviews I have had to write. How do you put into words the love that has grown as we watched Jayden and Erin start out as broken souls and evolve into the people they become in this book Surreal? The author has proven that with the right person, love and acceptance, you can bloom into the person you were meant to be all along and soar to heights that not even you could dream possible.
So many times I was speechless as I tried to wrap my brain around the fact that the Jayden and Erin in Surreal were the same two characters in the first book. Their love and devotion for each other healed the many fractures of their hearts and sealed a future with each other. They reached out to others in need in this book and showed them the same caring acceptance that they had found in each other.
While we get to see weddings and new adventures for the two, the author also gave us a view into their future as husband and wife and what life had waiting in the wings to offer them. The description and use of words by RE not only brought this story to life, it made the reader feel they were part of the scenes. From the breath of Jayden on Erin’s neck, to the tender touch he offered her with praise and approval. The trust that Erin had formed with Jayden to follow his lead and ask no questions brought a sense of peace to me like no other character could do.
Their lifestyle and choices will not be understood by the majority of society, but with the authors talent and acceptance to let the characters lead her, she made it clear to us that this was not only their desired lifestyle, this is what made them the lovable people they are. I challenge you to find two other characters that complete each other like Jayden and Erin.
The reading was so smooth and consistent it was the kind of experience that you forget the time and just feel the story. As I have mentioned the characters have always been well developed but by this third book they had become friends and you felt you were on the journey with them. Even the support cast all held valuable roles in the plot and became real to the reader. While this trilogy isn’t for everyone, if you love reading a BDSM theme you will love this set of books. The Divine Trilogy is not only beautifully written it is a fairy tale romance come true, with real life interruptions and passion to deep to be able to describe.
I really don’t know where to begin. I feel so many things right now. I think the first big emotion I feel is grief. When I first read To Serve is Divine I learned about Jayden and Catherine and I fell in love with them. Now the amazingly surreal journey is over and I’m sad. I really grew to love Catherine and Jayden and the secondary characters along the way. I am going to miss them! On the happy side I hear Ms. Hargrave will be making some novellas with the secondary characters so not all is lost!
This story made me laugh and cry. I mean ugly crying, but happy crying at that but I have to warn you. This is hot. So hot it might melt the pages of your kindle. I had to take a break and be alone with my bed a couple times but I should mention this is a BDSM based book. If you compare this book to fifty shades there really isn’t a comparison at all. This book is way beyond fifty shades and it teaches you so much more about the amazing real intimate connection between master and submissive.
I feel like I could become best friends with Catherine. I would be the one getting her in trouble I’m sure. Catherine has such an incredible journey and in this book it really comes to a closing with Jayden by her side. I really feel like they can accomplish anything together. The relationship Catherine and Jayden have is real. It isn’t that fake story romance. It’s alive and true and faces real life issues that I can’t mention because I don’t want to spoil it.
Here is what I can share. There is so much more to this story than you can possibly imagine! The plot of Surreal unfolds in layers. The writing keeps you guessing, questioning and wanting more information. The writing is also clever and witty, even humorous at times! I highly recommend this story to any BDSM lover and anyone who wants to read about an emotionally moving love story that will leave you thinking about it for days!
Once again I'm impressed by R.E. Hargrave's talent.
I first encountered R.E. Hargrave’s work when I read her short story, Haunted Raine, in the Treasured Moments anthology. I loved the story and was impressed by her ability to craft very memorable characters within a limited framework. Therefore, when she offered me the chance to read an ARC of her novel, Surreal, I was eager to take advantage of the opportunity, even though I had never read a BDSM novel before.
Surreal is the third part of a trilogy, but Hargrave was so skillful at weaving background details into the narrative that I had no trouble catching up on the story, even though I know there are some details I’ve missed out on. Once again, she created memorable characters. She also educated me on the BDSM lifestyle, dispelling some myths I’d harbored. Best of all, she created a bonded romantic relationship, based on love, trust, and mutual support, that I found uplifting and believable.
Yes, there’s a lot of titillating sex in this book, much of which was new to this (previously) uneducated reader. So, rest assured, those who are looking for steamy sex will find it here. Those who are interested in learning what is involved in the BDSM lifestyle will also find it here. Best of all, those who enjoy reading about two people coming together in a bonded and committed relationship based on love and mutual trust will also find it here. Hargrave has done a wonderful job of pulling all these elements together in a tightly written, well-paced, novel that is a testament to her talent as an author, irrespective of genre.
4.5 Stars This was a perfect ending to this intriguing series. I have to say once again that this is not my preferred genre. BDSM, D/s just doesn’t “do anything” for me. But the old adage that the story will grab the reader is definitely true.
This is a very strong character driven story. Their development, both in this book and the first two was nothing short of astonishing. But it isn’t just the two of them-Jayden/Erin or Master/Catherine. Their entire story world grows and matures.
This is so much more than a BDSM erotica read. The balance that they find between their worlds is hard-won. The themes of love, forgiveness, healing, trust, family and forever are well drawn and captivating. Their honest banter and playfulness prevent this book from feeling like a how-to guide. The characters are honest, raw and beautiful inside and out.
Don’t get me wrong this story is still incredibly taboo and hot! The scene between Landon, Jayden and Erin/Catherine was off the charts.
A well written saga that is definitely worth the read.
In this exciting conclusion to RE Hargrave's To Serve is Divine trilogy, she doesn't disappoint. Jayden and Catherine have had their ups and downs just like any other couple, but throw in the BDSM part of their relationship and you get a very interesting twist on what is to come for them. Catherine is the only one to come along and tame Jayden, but the question will be, can Jayden let her own him heart, body, and soul? In Surreal, we see some of the past characters and some new ones make appearances. They only add to the wonderful story of Jayden and Catherine's future.
This book, is just as well put together and thought out as the other two in the trilogy. I have to say this was the first series of the BDSM genre that I read and could tell that the author done their homework on not only setting the scene, but using certain phrases and such in the proper context. I easily give this book five stars. Mrs. Hargrave has given us a love story like none other, and I only wish this trilogy wasn't coming to an end.
I received an ARC of Surreal in exchange for an honest review. Release Date: 12-15-14
Wow, what can I say? Surreal fulfills all the promises of the two books that came before it. We delve further into Jayden and Catherine's relationship and meet some new friends while getting to know old friends better. I love the way RE Hargrave brings you into the world she has created. You are right there with the characters, whether as an observer or participant, you can almost feel the pleasure and the pain. Through her words, the world drops away and you are in the space, whether it’s a darkened club or a brightly lit room. I love the way the relationships were built and allowed to grow in a natural way. There were some really good surprises in the book too, which I won’t go into right now so that other readers can enjoy them too! I was thoroughly engrossed in this book and was sad when the last word appeared. This book is one I would highly recommend, get your copy, you won’t be sorry!
It was serendipity for me to learn about R.E. Hargrove and The Divine Trilogy. After discussing other books with her, I learned she was an author and she offered a copy of this trilogy for me to read and then offer her honest feedback in return. I accepted but didn't have any idea the trilogy would end up being one of my favorites for 2014.
The Divine Trilogy is a story that will stay with you. It's extremely erotic. It's thought provoking. It's incredible.
This is the last book in the trilogy for Jayden and Catherine and the most memorable. Limits are pushed for many characters.
How R.E. Hargrave can keep upping the ante with different scenes just get more erotic is beyond me, but she has mastered the skill.
The true meaning of a loving D/s relationship shines throughout the story. Always willing to serve Him. Always willing to treasure her.
This is the third book in the Divine Trilogy and in order for this book to make sense you should read the first 2 (To Serve Is Divine & A Divine Life). This book was by far my favourite of the series. It had the perfect mix of BDSM sex and sweet love making. I fell in love with Jayden even more (I know, how is that even possible?!) and I adored Catherine in this book. I again enjoyed the 2 different parts to their relationship and how they made it work. They worship the ground each other walks on and they deal with everything as a couple; it’s good to see that in a book. Overall this trilogy was amazing and is the perfect trilogy for fans of BDSM romance. The theme was well researched and RE Hargrave absolutely nailed it. I can’t wait for Micah’s novella. 5 stars!
Catherine/Erin absolutely OWN this book. There's a moment...in the club...and I cried. She was so amazing and powerful. She FINALLY demolished her past. This book allowed me to breathe and I was completely okay saying goodbye to these characters. I wasn't worried that Catherine/Erin wouldn't be ok. I finally knew that she had gotten absolutely everything she ever deserved.
Jayden is absolutely wonderful and adorable in this book. And the happiness that is shown to be shared by the group was stunning. I absolutely grew to love all but a couple characters. You'll know who I'm talking about when you get there.
R.E. Hargrave tied up this series perfectly and I am so incredibly happy to have read it, even if the resulting book hangover sucks.
I'm not going to say too much in my review, as I don't want to risk giving anything away. Now, I will say that I think this is a perfect way for this series to end, if it must end. It's like seeing a story come full circle as well as the characters involved. I think we finally get to see just how far Catherine has really traveled. Throughout the series, we've seen her blossom but in Surreal, she becomes the Rose Parade. We are always learning and growing in life and this is a great example of how even Jayden, who is so confident in his role as Dom, can still be taught a few things. If you're looking for a true story that involves the BDSM lifestyle, than this is the one for you. In my opinion, 50 Shades doesn't hold a candle to RE Hargrave's Divine Trilogy.
wow **I received this book as ARC for honest review** this is 3rd and final book in the series with Jayden and Erin, this series is actually surreal and melted places in my heart for life. Catherine and Jayden do it again in style. So what is next for the couple with their forever lasting love. I'm not going to give anything away from this amazing story. because you got to read it for yourself. R.E Hargrave has put her heart and soul and probably tears as well into this story, It's a magical ending to wonderful series.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. It's very rare that you read a book so exceptional that you truly don't want to see the end of the book come. Surreal was one of those books. As the Divine trilogy progressed you felt as if Catherine and Jayden were your friends. In Surreal RE Hargrave brings their triumphs over hardships to life in a realistic believable plot and story that has you turning page after page quickly. She is a master of her trade and it has been a pleasure to enjoy the story she had to tell.
I was gifted this book for an honest review. What an AMAZING conclusion to this BDSM series! Best to read in order, To Serve is Divine (book 1), A Divine Life (book2) then Surreal (book 3). R.E. Hargrave's "The Divine Trilogy" is an awesome series! Three full-length books, with #3 being a little longer. I love it. I don't usually give straight 5 ratings, but I loved this one! #2 is simply mesmerizing - probably the best #2 I've ever read. Most of #2 takes place over the space of one day - so you can imagine the amazing detail. I love the characters...Catherine's backstory is heartbreaking, but she is so strong. Love, Love, Love! And Jayden...wow...what a transformation throughout the books! Nothing to improve - everything was perfect. No wonder this is an award-winning series!
Not my usual thing at all. I have now read all three of the books and come to a better understanding of what drives or compels people into different lifestyles. Not my thing at all. But having said that, I do have a better grasp of things. There is growth here as they live and learn. They are still who and what they are, but the love between them and the changes in both of them have propelled this story far further than I thought possible. I also really love Mrs. Hargrave's style. Good job.
I received an ARC of Surreal for an honest opinion of it. Jayden and Catherine have endured so much to get to where they are and for that they truely love each other as not only as a couple can, but as Master and his submissive can as well. They not only have loving family, but friends as well that are in the chosen Lifestyle that they live in.
Never has a trilogy made me feel like it has come full circle. As much as I didnt want the story to end, when it did, it left me feeling complete and not lacking for anything. It was hard to say goodbye to my new friends but their story will stay with me. I hope this trilogy is made into a movie also. I will be there with bells on for the first showing. Awesome job my friend.
