Sometimes you just need some bite-size stories of doggie devotion and affection. And pictures too. Originally meant for younger readers, it provide some feel-good tales (or is that tails?). Not all the dogs within are young puppies, some are older. Some are rescue. But all are about our loving, faithful, playful canine partners. Of course, there are some situations where a faithful friends' long companionship comes to an end with their humans nearby but even those can bring a wistful smile of distant longing and perhaps remembrance of a lost pet.
Overall, a heart-warming read that can be picked up and read one chapter at a time or all at once.
The photos and narrative in this volume will warm your heart. Some dogs perform service duties for their disabled people; some go to heroic efforts to save their people from harm; some perform interesting feats like skateboarding or surfing; all are top dogs! Never boring, this small volume will keep you turning pages whether engrossed in the storytelling or catching interesting trivia about dog behavior.
Have you heard of the name dogs are known for? It's man's best friend. In the book "Puppy Love", there are many true stories of how dogs have such close relationships with humans. They help humans in many ways like helping people with disabilities, saving people from dangerous situations, being guard dogs, and a lot more ways that they make humans' lives better. The stories in this book are both very sad and emotional, but also very nice and happy. These dogs made people happier, stronger, and closer to their dogs. I decided to rate this book five stars because these stories almost want to make you cry because of how those dogs are so happy with their owners. I recommend this book to all dog lovers and all my friends and classmates.
Nonfiction text: Puppy Love: True Stories of Doggie Affection, copyright 2015. Children oftentimes have a natural bond with animals, and are drawn to books about them. This book not only contains pictures of dogs that draw the students in, but also stories that are interesting enough to keep younger children's interest, and also teach them about the nature of dogs. I would pair this with Because of Winn Dixie, a novel where a young girl named Opal is new in town and befriends a mischievous dog that helps her make friends.
Young dog lovers will appreciate this collection of true stories (none more than 3 pages long) of dogs who have inspired, helped, nurtured, rescued, even danced, skateboarded and surfed. Lots of color photos and basic dog facts make this a book to pore over, sittings at a time.
