The book was very dramatic. Every page something new was going on or someone was doing something. But because of that it kept the drama intense and the need to keep reading there. Apart from that the MC comes of as really unlikable and he only has a minor character ark. While the other supporting characters never seemed to 'understand' the mc. The book is a bit problematic with its messaging and what it contains.
Picked this apparently obscure book up at YALC. The writing was very direct and the main character came off as sociopathic, but once I realised it’s actually a “middle grade” read and things got resolved at the end, I don’t feel it deserves 2 stars. It was entertaining enough to keep me reading and I enjoyed the setting and characters reminding me of being a teenager in the UK.
I had high hopes for this YA romance with a male main character, but I didn't really like any of the characters. The girls in particular came off as very superficial so I couldn't quite work out why he was so 'in love' with them! However, I'm not the target audience here, so maybe teen readers will enjoy it more.
