I never said “I do” at the altar. But at the Black Wedding, no one cares about consent.
Jack Knight blames me for his sister’s death, and he’s had seven months to plan exactly how to trap me on his stage.
If I hadn’t opened my door to a masked stranger at midnight, and let him lead me down a deliciously dark path, maybe I could have escaped.
Now, I’m inside Sanctuary of Shadows, the gothic, month-long carnival of horrors and deception, where every rule is his and every choice is an illusion.
His first trick: making me his wife for October.
Jack may be depraved, but I never hide from my monsters.
Why? Because you don’t run from your own kind.
“Tricked by Jack” is a dark, obsessive Halloween-themed standalone with a HEA. Here, love means embracing the villain in your story and hope he/she doesn’t destroy you. This is a fast burn with a MMC & FMC that both embrace their own darkness.
Please note: even though all the books in the Seasonal Obsessions are standalones, there's an overarching plot and details that carry over between the three books. But each book follows a different Knight sibling.
Bibi is a dark romance author who is addicted to coffee, Piña coladas, and chocolate... all the beautiful things that make life go around.
She loves talking about herself in third person, it makes her feel special. She lives in the North East of England, in a small town no one has ever heard of. Her household (herself and her boyfriend of 10 years) is ruled by their feline mistress who puts the 'tude in Tortitude.
Bibi recently changed her pen name from Ren Blakely to B. Lybaek. A pure vanity move as she wanted to see her real name on her books #NamesMatters
You can find Bibi all over the internet.. probably procrastinating.
When revenge is all you seek, will the answers placate your need?
Eve Mortis has a depth that hasn’t been fully exposed. Yet her nemesis thinks he knows everything about her, as he plots her downfall. Jack Knight is the epitome of calculated, dominant, smouldering and a deleter. Will their lives ever be the same when their vows are taken at the Sanctuary of Shadows. Their story lies within submission, obsession and betrayals.
I started and I finished this in one sitting. I'm not gonna lie I was excited for this one and it didn’t disappoint, the storyline at times was angsty, the twists that Bibi dropped in, her descriptive writing enabling us to visualise the narrative. The spice in this one is as hot as the MCs 😈 A great Halloween read.
Jack first caught my interest in Bought by Santa, and I’ve been waiting for this book ever since – and it did not disappoint!
B. Lybaek has such an original way of writing scenes that hooks you from the very beginning. Just wait until chapter three…
The mind games Jack and Eve were playing with each other were so well written!
I also love how we get to meet Nick and Carolina again in this book, and seeing Carolina’s character development from the first book to the power woman she is now, wow!
Tricked by Jack is a good dark story. I couldn't put it down!!
What you get....... ♡Dark Romance ♡Mafia Romance ♡Halloween-Themed ♡Masked Man ♡Obsessive ♡Forced Marriage ♡Forced Proximity ♡MF ♡Fast Burn ♡Kidnapping ♡Knife Play ♡Power Play ♡Primal Chase Scene ♡Betrayal ♡Grief ♡Violence ♡Kidnapping ♡Unaliving
Jack is stuck in his guilt and grief about his sister's death. He blames Eve. He thinks he knows everything about her and starts to plan and plot his trick for her.
Lots of twists and turns in their story. It was a fast burn and their chemistry was sizzling hot 🔥 🥵 🔥🥵🔥🥵 They definitely were in denial about their feelings and I really enjoyed how everything turned out.
Bibi does a great job at sucking you into her stories and making you love most of her characters!!
What an incredible read! It was also quite the roller-coaster of emotions and twists and turns. This story had revenge, suspense, shocking secrets, betrayal, tension, and lots of steam. Eve and Jack were everything together. The back and forth, love to hate, and their undeniable chemistry was off the charts. Their relationship may have started as toxic, but the growth and love that sneaks in makes it perfect for them. I loved them both. They each had their share of secrets, layers of hidden emotions, and even pain. Seeing them heal and find love made me so happy. I think the ending was satisfying and the epilogue was perfect!
I loved the opening, it grabs your attention so easily. Jack deserves all the books! And eve, what a good girl 👏🏼. I loved the suspense in this one! THE REVENGE!!! Hahaha, if he only knew. I was all over the place with my feelings, loving it every second! This is a must read! Bibi you did it again my friend. Amazing!!!
Dark Romance Halloween Style. Definitely check the trigger warnings on this before diving in! At first I wasn’t sure I could get into the book but then I found myself needing to know what comes next. The twists and turns it took then ended in a Happy Ever After 😅
I... had a really hard time deciding what to rate this, to be honest. The story itself is good. The spicy scenes are amazing. The chemistry between Jack and Eve is undeniable from the minute they first meet. I just, unfortunately, have some issues that prevent me from wanting to give this even a four-star rating.
Jack annoyed me a lot at first and it took me until over halfway through the book to really, truly enjoy his character. Up until that point, he was almost too unlikeable for me.
Eve was just about the same way, but for an entirely different reason. For me, her whole life was too much of a mystery for too long, so when there were finally a few details sprinkled in, I almost didn't care to learn anything about her. On top of it taking the majority of the book to really learn about her, the things we did learn felt more like they were just added in for shock value to make the book more interesting than they were to actually give us some insight as to why Eve is the way she is. I know it’s supposed to give us an idea of it, but it really doesn't.
And then comes the plot twist, which I managed to all but figure out less than halfway through the book. Sure, there were some aspects about it I didn't immediately guess, but the basis of it? I picked up on it really quickly. No part of the plot twist made my jaw drop or my eyes go wide, which is the best part of a good plot twist in my opinion.
I don't dislike the book, but I don’t love it either. I came for the masked man and the only things that kept me around were the spicy scenes. Not much else. I think the character I liked the most is Carolina, who doesn't have too terribly much of a page presence to begin with. It's like, we know a couple of Eve and Jack's deepest secrets but we didn't learn anything else about them and it feels very odd to me. It kept me separated from the book and what was happening the entire time because I couldn't in any way relate to either of the characters.
There are no words to describe how incredible this book was—I devoured it. I had been so excited to read it, and it did not let me down. It was everything I had hoped for and more. The story pulled me through from beginning to end, and when I wasn’t reading, I was still thinking about it. Jack Knight and Eve Mortis—two souls bound by a vow and revenge, becoming one as they face curses and fate. Eve was an incredible woman: defiant, strong, and a master of psychology. Her mind gave such sharp insight into the story, making it grow richer and deeper with every page. She was already captivating, but watching her transformation—her acceptance of her darkness—made her even more powerful, creating an extraordinary version of the woman she already was. And Jack—deliciously dark and possessive, enough to make you feral. His nickname's for Eve alone seeps under your skin. Watching him evolve from vengeance to love and acceptance was a journey only Eve’s soul could draw him into. Two characters, perfectly created for each other. Two characters with secrets of their own. The story unfolded with such vivid detail that I could picture everything as if I were there. The twists had me breathless, unable to pull away, craving more with every chapter. By the end, I found myself wishing for my own Jack Knight to show up at midnight, invitation in hand. I fully recommend this book. The attention to detail, the characters, and the plot were all incredible. It’s left me absolutely speechless, and I just want to live inside its pages.
Oh my!! This was one hell of ride!! Some twists & turns that I definitely wasn’t expecting but loved every minute of it!! This was my first time reading this author & now I have to go back to read the first 2 books from this series, because I’m obsessed!
The characters were amazing, the story grabs you and the spice was freaking HOT 🥵 100% recommend!!
Jack is desperate for revenge & blames a therapist for the death of his sister. He is determined to make her pay, so he sets up an elaborate plan to get his revenge!! His character is delicious, obsessive, possessive and calculated! But the game he lays out for “Dr. Death” doesn’t quite go according to his plans!
Dr. Eve Mortis, is a therapist who finds herself at the heart of Jack’s anger! When Eve is forcefully involved in a ritualistic wedding to a groom in a mask and a ceremony she wasn’t expecting, she realizes she was set up & this is a fight for survival!! Her groom has big plans for her & she will need to use her brain & what she forced to endure as a child, to outsmart Jack and make him see, she’s not to blame!!
Will they both be able to accept the darkness inside themselves and survive each other?

This is the 3rd book in the Seasonal Obsessions series. I had the privilege of ARC reading the first book, Bought by Santa, which revolves around the older brother, Nick. As for the second book I did not read, I was not much into the Valentine's Day setting. I was also unaware that the second book had to deal with the sister.
Reading Tricked by Jack revolves around Nick's younger brother, Jack. And his obsession for revenge against a woman named Eve, whom he blames for his sister's death. Reading the beginning of the story and finding out what happened to Ruby now makes me want to read book two.
Nick and Carolina make an appearance in this book, and it's nice to see them again. They are definitely a power couple. Them having a daughter, and what they named her, was so precious.
Throughout the book, you see how unhinged Jack is and the lengths he'll go to make one person suffer. Now, I don't fully believe that what happened to Ruby was completely Eve's fault, but I do believe it should have been her responsibility to report her patient if she had known the kind of person Valentine was.
When Jack internally comments that when it comes to the Knight family, "Either you're one of us, with us, or against us. There's no other option." it's very telling of what they expect within their circle, whether you're family, friend, or foe.
I’ll be honest, I struggled to connect with this story at first — but it’s B. Lybaek, so I knew I had to stick with it. And I’m glad I did, because around the 38% mark I was completely pulled in. No one, and I mean no one, writes descriptive prose like B. Lybaek. It’s pure magic — words woven in a way that paints vivid, cinematic images in your mind. One line that completely stopped me was: “headlights smearing across rain-slick asphalt like watercolors bleeding through paper.” Rich, evocative writing like this is my kryptonite. While this book didn’t feel quite as dark as some of her others, it still carried plenty of heavy, dark elements — so definitely check the triggers beforehand and prioritize your mental health. I really loved Eve’s character. She was strong, smart, and unapologetically drawn to the shadows, and her development throughout the book was fantastic. Jack, on the other hand, absolutely broke me. Underneath all his hurt and trauma, he was the sweetest soul who truly deserved love. Yes, he made questionable choices — but let’s be honest, Eve’s heart (and body) responded to every bit of it. Overall, Tricked by Jack delivered exactly what I hope for from B. Lybaek: dark edges, unforgettable characters, and prose that stays with you long after the last page.
OMG! This was the perfect dark romance with a Halloween twist. It’s violent, bloody, twisted, incredibly erotic and totally depraved. And I loved every sinfully delicious and brutal moment of it.
Eve is a unique woman with a hidden darkness about her. She’s incredibly smart and beautiful with demons deep in her closet.
Jack is a very troubled man with many demons trailing behind him. He’s devious, calculating, domineering and violent all wrapped up in one hell of a sexy package.
Their relationship starts roughly and is filled with such intense emotional turmoil that you never know if they are going to unalive each other or fuck it out!
The push and pull between them constantly was fueled by anger, pain and extreme heartbreak. But the closer they get to each other the more their interactions are fueled by their intense physical and sexual chemistry that continued to pull them closer together.
Their story is filled with so many twists and turns that it had me wondering if the so called curse would eventually be their downfall. The chemistry between Jack and Eve burned so damn hot that I was sure my kindle was going to go up in flames.
This was an incredible story from start to finish. The emotions were palpable, the plot was intense and the whole thing and had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. So freaking good!
Eve - is a therapist who has found herself trapped in Jack's web of upset, revenge and Obsession. Can Eve fall for her masked stalker, who wanted revenge for the death of his sister?
Jack - bathing in grief of his sisters death, he plays a cunning game to trap his therapist as he believes she's the reason that his sister didn't survive that fatal night.
We see Jack trick Eve into marrying him. Even though his mindset was about revenge, he wasn't expecting himself to catch feelings for Eve. They are a mixture of fire and destruction.
There were lots of twists and turns in this novel. The spice was spicing! The way this author brought this story and her characters together was amazing! We get lost down the rabbit hole of Jack and Eve's relationship, where they are bounded and fated by blood, where they fall in love unexpectedly.
This is a beautifully written dark romance novel, one where this authors amazing delicous words caught me hook line and sinker, I absolutely ate this book up!
It's dark, it's spicy, it's twists and turns we're just perfectly done!
If you are looking for a new read for the October month I would definitely recommend this author.
This isn't the first novel of this authors I have read and I can hands down say it will not be the last!
I have patiently waited for this book, and oh, boy, was the wait worth every word B. Lybaek put into this book. I devoured this book and needed more of Jack by the end. This book is a dark revenge romance; it checked off all my favorites in tropes, and this author’s writing is gritty, real, and has all my feels feeling lol. This book is filled with drama, angst, suspense, and some of the most dark and delicious spice I have read in a long time. I loved this book's storyline; it is dark, original, page-turning, and had me heartbroken in a few parts. This book is part of the Seasonal Obsessions series and should be read in order, by my recommendation. The characters are intertwined in the three books, and tell a story of different seasons, and this one has to be my favorite. I enjoyed how the story progressed from beginning to end. I loved the characters, they were complex, had heartbreaking backstories, and I loved the chemistry and the journey this book took their romance on. B. Lybaek is a fantastic dark romance author and has created an exciting and dark series that I am so excited to read over and over again.
Poor Jack, still broken by what happened to Ruby and needing someone to blame before he self destructs completely. And there is one person who fits that description, Eve Mortis, who knew what Valentine Grant was. His revenge is convoluted, and it was good to catch up with Nick and Carolina, who helped him perform it. I loved the theatricality of it all, the ‘brides’ meeting their grooms, and especially the tarot reader who was a tad too accurate. I’d kind of guessed the villain, spoiler alert, it’s not Eve! But not the reason why, and when I realised, omg, it was sad, all of this for a person so undeserving. Eve and Jack make a great couple, they spark off each other, both needing a reason to live. I particularly enjoyed the painting scene. I have to say that this wasn’t my favourite book of the three, that was Ruby’s story, but I enjoyed this immensely. As always with Bibi’s books, the writing is just amazing, and the spice is so hot 🥵🔥 and the story is powerful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tricked by Jack by B. Lybaek is a dark, obsessive Halloween-themed standalone. The third installment of the Seasonal Obsessions series, it grabs your attention and doesn't let go!
Jack, desperate for revenge and determined to make who he believes is responsible for his beloved sister Ruby's death pay; devises a plan to get said revenge. However, things don't go according to plan when he discovers that Eve is just as dark, depraved and dangerous as he is.
I absolutely love everything I have read by B. Lybaek. I highly recommend this series!

Eve Mortis following in her dad background never wanted to follow his job and is relief that the business got closed and shut down all because one session with Ruby’s brother Jack Knight. This story takes you in a wild ride, mentions, and course fun and play. Eve and Jack story takes you where you think you can play and change your way of thinking but the dark twisted Halloween island takes you on a journey you will never forget. He starts to understanding and loving his new bride calls her Dr. Death. They deal with pain and have monsters inside them they find peace and love in each other and family life gets better in time. Eve and Jack find out that not only do they need each other but they rebuild something they lost in themselves. The plot and smut and the darkest that is apart of this book will make you question things but being you peace.
this book was awesome, I'm going to be honest I read both the other ones and I was waiting for this one so much especially with the way the second one ended, your sister is no longer earth side and your out for blood, this is what the main male character has going on in his head would he bring this crazy Mary and torture plan together, his victim a psychiatrist who he feels should have been able to stop his sister's death what didn't, what happens when you clash dark and dark and capture and captive fall into this twisted sense of love, what happens when somebody threatened the well-being of the person you care about, well this book clearly answers that and I loved it so much it is dark it is twisted let's be honest the relationship is based so toxic but it makes for an absolutely wonderful read.
What a Halloween treat this book is! A little bit twisted with macabre overtones. Jack is out for revenge and that revenge is focussed on psychiatrist, Eve. His planning is meticulous, calculated and manipulative and Eve is drawn into his orbit like a moth to a flame. Along the way, both main characters discover things about themselves and embrace each other’s darker tendencies and trauma. However, not all things go the way that is expected and the plot takes an unexpected twist, causing a ball of tension to form inside me. I loved the setting for this book. It was perfect for the Halloween season, especially the scenes set in the Sanctuary of Shadows. Definitely a little bit different!
Tricked by Jack was so good! This was one of B Lybaek’s season obsession books and they have all been amazing but this one was chefs kiss! A perfect book for spooky season just be sure and check your triggers. They are all standalone but interconnected. So while you could read it alone, it would be best if you read it from the first book. This book is about Jack and Eve and it leaves off after Hunted by Valentine. Jack wants vengeance against Eve, but is that what he really wants or will he be able to achieve it? Only Halloween will tell and carnival where people become Brides and everything is an illusion. I loved this book. I highly suggest you read it.
I received an advanced review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
one, two, he's coming for you. three, four, scream for more five, six, he's got a big bag of tricks seven, eight, you took the bait none, ten, only he decides when.
for every bride, a bloom must die petal- black and blooded dry the vows begin before the ring you're his now, let the silence sing.
Jack was hell bent on revenge for his sister. The target therapist Eve Mortis. This book was nothing like I have read. the twist and turns were mind blowing. The spice had me fanning myself because whew Jack omg. Eve really came into her own as a bad arse queen B. I fully enjoyed this Arc read. it was my first by B. Lybaek and I can guarantee it will not be my last.
Wow, another one that was way above expectations, as they all seem to be by this amazing author! The initial hatred and vengeance that pushes Jack and in her own way Eve as well, and then turns to obsession and love in such a convoluted way! There are no words to describe the emotions that run rife in this story, or to describe the passion that consumes these characters. Yes there are triggers, but OMG, this is a book not to be missed! I have loved every book by this author, and this is definitely no exception, probably being one of my favourites! I can definitely see me reading this over again and again!
B. Lybaek and Seasonal Obsessions is phenomenal! After Nicklas and Ruby, Jack Knight does not disappoint is this Halloween, mafia, dark romance. His broken soul, trauma and darkness is matched with Eve's own deeply tragic life and their connection is immediate and shattering. There are so many twists and set to the background of a month long Halloween celebration, sparks fly, hearts melt and emotions are at an all time high. The writing from B. Lybaek is nothing short of engaging, taut with feeling that makes this book addictive. This book is an absolute Halloween treat!
This book was such a surprise for me. I went in totally blind and am so glad that I did.
Jack and Eve have such an interesting relationship from the very start and it just continues to grow and change with every turn of the page. It leves you invested in more than just the MC'S you want more on the life of all of the rest of the characters.
The ending was totally amazing with that little Mafia twist at the end that we all love
B. Lybaek tells stories with such a beautiful thst it flows so effortlessly and she has easily became one of my top new favorite others of this year. And I cant wait to see what her beautiful brain comes up with next.
Okay, Tricked by Jack was such a wild little Halloween treat. 🎃 I went in expecting a dark, spicy read with some chaos boy did we get exactly that).
Jack is the kind of morally gray man you shouldn’t want, but absolutely do.
The chemistry between the characters had me grinning and fanning myself at the same time. The tension, the push and pull, the way it’s just a little unhinged but still gives you that satisfying ending—it totally worked for me.
If you’re into dark, fast-paced, spicy reads with Halloween energy and a villain-you-can’t-help-root-for, Tricked by Jack is 100% worth picking up.
This book was a big anticipated read for me and did not disappoint at all! I was lost in the book from page one and refused to put this down. Eve Mortis is my new favorite character, she is smart and calculated but has a dark side to her. Jack Knight is the darkness that threatens to consume her to get what he wants and im here for it. B Lybaek does a fantastic job telling their story and the plot twist was not expected! I loved this book and absolutely enjoyed watching a fmc do what I would love and not chicken out. This book was spicy and compelling and I love it!

I loved this!! It's Eve & Jack's story & it was awesome! She's working as a therapist & meets him; but he has his own reasons for meeting her. He's out for vengeance & she's at the center of it. A lot of things are happening here; she's surrounded by secrets & someone who is around her has their own reasons for their actions. She becomes his bride for a month, but they're both in for a rude awakening; they have feelings for the other that they weren't expecting. The spice was fantastic & I loved the story!! Highly recommend this book & author!
