5/5 “I’m the only one who’ll ever know that the princess begs on her hands and knees like a peasant when Daddy unzips his pants.”

TROPES:
-age gap
-bodyguard x princess
-forced proximity
-touch her and die
-instalove

Greta is a princess. One year ago, she was kidnapped and tortured and now lives with nightmares and PTSD. She’s scared to leave her home. Her mother hires Conrad, a decorated Commander, to guard her on her first outing since the incident.

Conrad doesn’t want to be there. But when he takes his first glance at Greta, he falls for her. Hard.

This novella was so cute and spicy! I loved it. Jessa Kane is one of my favorites. Conrad is even jealous of a horse because she straddles it. 😆

SAFETY:
-virgin heroine, no past on hero
-no OM/OW (her mom wants her to get engaged to a prince but nothing ever comes of it)
-no cheating/sharing
-triggers: PTSD from a previous kidnapping, heroine is branded by the enemy (off page)
-kinks: daddy, dry humping, praise/good girl, hand necklaces, rough sex
-HEA 🖤

Jessa is giving us books one after another, and I am loving it! 😍 The queen is back!!! 💜

I can't wait to read Praise Me: Priest 😈🔥

I picked it up because it’s a JK book. But after finishing it, all I know is that this didn't work for me (tbh, I was annoyed for most of it). I should've DNF it when I had the chance instead of forcing myself to continue reading.

☆2 DNF 65% Feeling bored with a JK novella is a new experience for me. 🙇🏻‍♀️

Guess there’s a first time for everything? 💅🏼😭 The initial setup seemed promising—rude, disgruntled bodyguard, innocent frightened princess, misunderstanding and forced proximity, ok sure let’s do this. But the characters felt wooden, and their quick moves and changes in behavior didn’t make sense. Not a fan of Conrad, and the few things that happened just dragged for me. I enjoyed the first book a lot, so hopefully the next will have more of that fun, charming vibe and characters that win me over to their OTTness.🤞

This was a bit boring for a JK novella with a Dlg kink.
Or it could be my dislike for bodyguard romance, who knows? 🤷🏾‍♀️

This novella really wasn’t letting me down and I devoured it!!

We’ve got a guarded princess with PTSD, a grumpy war hero turned unwilling babysitter (bodyguard). Greta’s trying to piece herself back together after a traumatic year and suddenly there’s Conrad, assigned to protect her on her first trip outside since the kidnapping, and immediately obsessed the moment he lays eyes on her. He thought he’d be stuck babysitting a spoiled royal, and hate her with all his being but instead he falls hard for someone who’s clearly been through hell and is still standing.

I'm here to service you in every way, Princess.

It’s got all the good tropes: age gap, grumpy x sunshine, obsession, jealousy (yes, even of the horse) and that classic Jessa Kane mix of sweet+spicy. And somehow, even the queen who first seemed like a cold political villain ends up being kind of iconic. I loved that no one even tries to hide what’s going on between Greta and Conrad. The rules are tossed out and royal expectations? They don’t matter when he’s looking at her like that!!

Honestly, I wouldn’t even want a sequel. This felt like the perfect little storm of healing, intensity, and over-the-top devotion. Let them have their peace. Let them stay right there, where they’re loud and in love.

Trops/kinks/safety:

👑 Military vet bodyguard MMC x princess FMC
👑 Jealous MMC
👑 FMC with PTSD
👑 “They will have to go through me to get to you” feels
👑 Daddy™️
👑 Dirty talk

You will NEVER catching me hating on a bodyguard romance. And the specific microtrope of bodyguard romance where it’s a gritty and stoic bodyguard MMC and an obliviously sheltered and kindhearted FMC who needs protection. Chef’s kiss and give me twelve of them.

And this new Praise Me entry by Jessa Kane fits the bill trope-wise, but I wasn’t as engrossed in the characters or story as much as I was the first one.

It definitely was a fun entry and the spice was great as usual (but this is Jessa Kane, so no surprise there) but I just felt disconnected from the characters.

The MMC felt more immature and unprofessional than anything, especially at the beginning. I was expecting a more rough and tough but icily professional bodyguard, and he was a bit more juvenile in personality for me.

The FMC started to feel a bit repetitive with how many times she kept promising to relieve the MMC of his duties protecting her, even far after his attraction was obvious.

I don’t think both characters’ ages were explicitly stated, I know the FMC is 18 I think, but did the MMC’s age get mentioned? Just a personal preference, but I would’ve preferred a 20+ FMC.

This may be a case of sophomore syndrome, or just the first entry hitting so good it made this less impressive in comparison. Still a good Jessa Kane read, and I am MORE than excited to see where this particular series goes…

So glad JK is back!

I was not as offended by it as a lot of others were. Not as juicy as most of JK's books, but still good.

Princess Greta (18, virgin) has PTSD after being kidnapped by rebels, and now refuses to leave the castle. Her mum requests an unwilling Commander Conrad Larsen (assumed like 30-ish) to come and get her daughter over her trauma so she can marry her off to some prince.

Yada yada, Commander and Princess are insta for each other, horses ridden, virginity taken, wars fought, Yes, Daddy!, and of course an HEA.

To note: It's modern times as far as cars & TVs, but the feel is like it's 18th century.

"Praise Me: Princess" is the story of Greta and Conrad.

Another smutty goodness, this time between a scarred and scared princess and her brooding bodyguard. This one has some dd/lg play and loads of protectiveness and sex, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Loved it.

This book was cute with daddy kink (of course lol. It’s Jessa). The rebels’ (i.e. the big, bad threat in this book) motivations are never explained. Personally, I’m inclined to be on their side. Like, how badly was the royal family ruling to have their own little french revolution happening. And the Queen’s response to the rebellion is not to address what lead to it but to squash it by force. Those are your citizens you know? I don’t know what to tell you. Rule better?

Exactly what you would expect from a Jessa Kane, but this wasn't my favorite, ended up skimming the ending and even though it is a Jessa Kane and a novella, I wish it was just a bit more fleshed out after the first 3/4 and the way the conflict is handled.

I am ending this series with a bang, which is royalty x commoner, which is something that I love. But Conrad is no ordinary commoner – he is a soldier, a commander in the war, and now her private security. I love that he goes from hating her to protecting her with everything he has within HOURS. Listen, do I love an obsessed man? Absolutely. Greta blossoms quite fast in this one, and the pacing of that was a little off for me, but I loved their willingness in the second half of the book to put it all on the line for each other. Conrad also had one filthy mouth, so that was fun, ha! It wasn’t my favorite of the series, but it was a fun way to cap off the Praise Me Daily series. @JessaKane, I can’t wait to go through your entire back-log of books because whew, it’s going to be a wild ride!

⭐️⭐️

Plot - 2/5
Characters - 3/5
Spice - 🌶️

I reaaaaaally wanted to love this and it has such a strong start but the whole plot is weakly executed. Our FMC, the Princess Greta, is traumatised and unable to leave the palace. Her mother, the Queen, decides she would benefit from a marriage contract to a nearby prince and assigns Greta the Commander, Conrad, as her bodyguard.

Conrad makes it very clear from Page 1 he does NOT want to be a glorified babysitter, but is quickly enamoured with our soft-spoken, kind hearted princess. I was all in at this stage - I didn't even care that it was insta-love because a bodyguard, age-gap romance? Swoon. Unfortunately, there continues to be next to no plot (or smut - of which I was promised!!) and everything get's wrapped up in a tidy little bow too easily for my liking.

This could've been a fantastic book if it was fleshed out a little more with some more spice scenes and actual conflict.

A fun little, over the top novella from Jessa Kane. There was a lot of spicy scenes but it was rather bland compared to some of her other work. It was definitely a nice little palette cleanser though!

Quickie Review: I just finished the first book of this series and immediately had to grab this one. I gobbled it up just as quickly as the first. I adored the royalty trope as it’s been some time since I have read one. But Jessa Kane did a fabulous job as always with giving us a wonderfully written story with lots of juicy romance. I hope there is more to come with this series. 5 stars.

Always enjoy a Jessa Kane short! Instalove between a young princess and a grumpy guard assigned to protect her. Daddy lite, good balance of story, sweetness and steam.
