The chains that bound them are breaking. From the shattered world, ancients rise.
Elyon and Saska have been reunited at last - now the hard work begins. Training as they travel, they must put aside their desire in the face of their duty. The heir of Varin has one blade only. One of five. And the others are moving.
Trapped in the depths of the earth, Jonik must find his way out to salvation. He is not alone. Pursued by a horde of hungry creatures, he has only the light of Vandar to protect him. A light and a power that might just awaken something else. Something ancient…and colossal.
Following victory over the Agarathi at Blackfrost, Amron Daecar weighs up his options. A part of him would gather all his strength and strike at once at the heart of the enemy, yet the wiser course is consolidation. The last of the titans are waking, he knows - in the shadow of their conflict, they must prepare.
Across the world, the pieces are moving, nudged here and there by the fingers of fate. Ranulf, Robbert, Emeric, Lythian, and many others will play their part. Whether they know it or not, all are pieces of a bigger puzzle, threads of a tapestry weaved through time. There will be tragedy. There will be sacrifice. There will be moments when all seems lost.
Yet the night is darkest just before the dawn. And they must work together to bring the light.
Book seven, the penultimate book in this pulse pounding fantasy epic, came out swinging. This world's lore has been the highest point of the series, and seven books in, the author expands it further; adding more compelling layers to this tapestry.
The final third of this book might be some of the best fantasy that I have ever read. Things. Went. Down. At book's end, we leave these characters in places of doubt, defeat, and uncertainty. Perfect place for them to be in as we look to the last book ahead.....
T.C. Edge and his 7th entry in "The Bladeborn Saga" is nothing short of WOW! 'Of Ancients Unbound' has everything...I'm not kidding, everything one could hope for in this set up to the final "Monstrous" book in this high fantasy saga of our time! Settle in fellow readers, this is a jam packed chonker! 🔥
Edge took the Saga up a notch with the way he ended book 6 and that colossal battle between The Dread and the Bladeborn. As momentum changing and foundation shaking as that entry turned out to be, 'Of Ancients Unbound' smashes through that top spot of this Saga, sets it on fire and decimates it! Everything from the unbelievably detailed world building, immense character depth, and seamless story arc layering...to the brutal emotional toil, unyielding sacrifice, and otherworldly battle's, are taken (if you can believe it) to yet another level! Again, WOW is what my mind keeps coming back to, I'm not kidding when I say this...this book is most likely T.C.'s best writing to date! 📚
Every inch of the world crafted in this series, is in play during this almost 1300 page behemoth...and by the Gods, it flys by so fast, you would swear it's The Dread himself, setting fire to the very pages of your soul! The pace is a perfect balance of lore and fury, with each chapter captivating our attention and hanging on its every word. As always, Edge stirs this delicious pot of fire and agony with just the right amount of love and hope. Many twists and turns will have you turning the pages with bated breath, and a measure of uncertainty, that compels you to buckle down and forge forward for answers and vengeance. With a number of PoV's that's as high as any major fantasy saga I've read, each and every character arc gets deeper, more detailed, and more entwined with the rest. Betrayal looms on the winds of this storm, and honor compels the greatest of our hero's to set aside their pasts and mistakes...a united front and the help from Bladeborn weapons of power, are the last hope for our group of warriors to prevail. Godsteel will dent and crack...but the pride and faith of our fated hero's will shine like the light of Varin himself! 💪
It doesn't get much more Epic than this series, T.C. Edge is set to give us one more entry in a journey that will no doubt shatter expectations once again! Eldur and The Dread will not stop...the calamity and the fire father ready for their final assault, in their path...
"A line of misting men, standing against the storm"
God I loved that quote, and there are MANY more, read for yourself...the prophecy is within grasp, who will be Varin's Heir and wield the 'Heart Reborn'...and will it be enough? With one book to go, we will find out soon enough! And with the one last book to come, I'll leave you with one more quote from our brilliant author, and begs the question...
"Will you ride with me, one last time?" 📚
5⭐ nonstop action and emotion! Do not fear the size of this storm...the Gods have given you the strength to battle the titans, go forth and prevail...even the titans can be cut down! Be that misting light, shining in the darkness of the storm! 👊
This book was amazing just like all of the stories in this series. It was great watching several characters reconnecting with each other after long periods apart. There were a few open storylines from the previous book that didn't get the recognition that I felt they deserved, but probably because the author ran out of space. There are a few chapters where the narrator is just wandering, but those are few and are more than countered by the other chapters where there is so much action happening. This book is so good and I can't wait to see how it wraps up in the next installment.
The author’s world building through the series is paying dividends as this series begins to come to a close. Lots of mysteries are being unraveled and the twists and turns in the plot made me always curious where it would go next. Can’t wait for the next one.
I have really really enjoyed this series so far. I love the prologues so much, feel like there’s a series hidden there or at least a prequel. But as the series have gone on, they have become a bit tedious with so many different characters getting their own chapters…. Not unexpected in such a long series. Still, it has kept me very captivated. Well done to the author
Book 7 in the Bladeborn Saga! The penultimate installment. This series has been a wild ride of ups and downs, lefts and rights. This books started out right wheee book 6 left off and moves at a steady clip. I will admit that there are some things I found unnecessary just like in the other installments. The author goes back in the past during chapters for a time to explain something that happened and then comes back to the present. This could be reworked in my opinion and I found myself skimming some of these at times. There were chapters early on that seemed to have no point to me but later revealed why they were the way they were and I could appreciate them more as the story moved along. The action and development was great, and I found the story very engaging and super fun to read. I found myself very emotionally engaged in the book as we draw closer to the end. The loss of some characters we’ve been with since book 1 had me in the feels big time. I like the dragon rider trope and how it’s been flipped on its head. The ending sequence in the book, which was the final 2-300 pages was so amazing! It had me gripped and fully engaged. Overall, this was a great book and I definitely recommend anyone try this series out. The things I mentioned above are just personal ticks and I don’t feel are an overall negative on the story in the long term.
Where everything leaves off for book 8: The sword is forged and Lythian proposed to Jonik that he carry it if Saska doesn’t return. Elyon stabbed Drulgar in the eye, then fell and is recovering. Drulgar then was attacked by the giant bat and both disappeared. Jonik, Lythian (Amron’s bestie and first sword), Emeric and the hunter are all in Ilith’s forge with the sword and the painting that shows the future. Amron was crowned king and retrieved his house Daecar sword. He is in Varinar with Amara (pregnant) and Lillia. Ranulf is in the refuge along with Del (Saska’s brother) and Cevi (Talasha’s maid)(in a relationship) which was just attacked by Drulgar. Rolly was taken to Eldur. So was Saska, but she and her cat are in a dreamworld? Her grandmother as well. Talasha went to the Aramatian trees and talked with a God’s son? She has face scars from when Elyon tried to save her from the fire priest and thinks if Lythian is still alive, he won’t love her. Leshi (Saska ‘s friend) and Amilia (princess) were in the Ilith castle when Drulgar knocked into it. Not sure if they made it out. Jonik’s friends (Jack and others) may be alive with Borrus in the southeast war. Aramatia was taken over by “Emperor” in league with Eldur. Jonik and Elyon had a fistfight before the dragons came.

This book is perfection, not only the best by far in the series but a shining example of how immensely talented T.C. Edge is.
Every chapter has you at the edge of your seat, and every word holds purpose, there is no filler, only great writing. It's a long read but an absolutely enthralling one, and this book validates this series as being one of the greatest of all time in the genre.
I cried, I gasped, I laughed, I said "ew"...I went through it all and now I'm here, an absolute wreck just waiting for the conclusion. I'm not sure if my desire to do almost anything to get my hands on the next book is a sign of how good this series is or a question of my mental health haha, perhaps it's both, or perhaps the story and writing is just that good...in all seriousness though I'm so thrilled to see how much of the world we were able to explore, how these characters have evolved and to watch the pieces fit together so perfectly, so flawlessly, so effortlessly.
Job well done T.C. now hurry up and relase book 8 darn you, also, you owe me a box of tissue.
I think this was a great addition to the series and I believe the story is unfolding in a believable way which makes me happy as there are very few times I found myself thinking that a character's decision did not make sense.
Another review mentioned that the book felt tedious to read and I do agree with their point. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/8... To me it felt as though almost everytime I was starting to get invested in a certain storyline in a chapter it would come to an abrupt end and switch to another character's perspective. There were a few too many character perspective switches and I believe the book would have been much more smoother to read if fewer persepctive had been given greater focus. Amara, Elyon, Amron, Jonik, Lythian and Amilia are the perspectives I look forward to the most. Of course I can't forget Saska but she is driven by the other characters more than she is driven by herself. Amron will always be Varin Reborn in my heart. 4/5
Another excellent entry. This series is one of my absolute favourites. I'm shocked how much story was packed into one book.
Seeing Elyon and Saska together was great, especially after such a long separation. I do wish we had more time with them just being together. It feels like they finally admitted their feelings for one another and then were immediately separated again. Hopefully we see them reunited in book 8.
Great action, fantastic characters. Really couldn't reccomend it enough. Couldn't put it down.

The dragons of Agarath are a scourge in Vandar and Tukor, but their peoples still fight valiantly. New alliances and new evils. Faithful old friends fall and stalwart new ones arise. Defeat one ancient enemy and another awakes.
The Bladeborn stand firm in the gap even as their numbers thin.
Standing on the brink of destruction and redemption we await the next installation of this epic saga.
The Bladeborn Saga is truly one of the great stories by a master of his craft! My biggest hope is that we don’t have to wait long for book eight. The characters and their loves, hopes and emotions are as tangible if we knew them personally. The series is truly one of my favorites after having read many of the best ones in my lifetime. It will not leave you disappointed in any way.
The first three books of this series I enjoyed very much. In the books 4 and 5 the tendency to mention lots of things irrelevant to the story started. Now in book 7 it is hard to endure these endless descriptions of completely irrelevant persons, ingrediences and what not. When trying to summarise what happend in this book it is explained in afew sentences. Please let the last book be focused on the plot!
While not the final volume in the sage, Of Ancients Unbound sees several key events come to pass, some of which I had been waiting to see occur since Book 1. The battle sequences are the most intense of this series yet. The closing words leave me hungry for the final volume in this magnificent series. If you enjoy dragons, king, knights, political intrigue and just plain fun adventure, give this series a try!
Odd name for a title but I have endured the wait and there is one more book till the finale. What a series. I have never waited on books in a series before and have no idea why I began this one, but I did and it has been so worth the wait. But I’m ready for the finale and am waiting once more… let’s do it!!
I think I just don’t understand why this wasn’t the last book. I feel like there were a lot of threads I wanted to see come together in this book that didn’t happen and made it disappointing. I’m struggling to see how the next/last book will have substance to it that isn’t traveling.
Adventure through a magical land before time. Knights and dragons, maidens fair and bold. If you like epic tales of good battling evil, you'll love the trials and tribulations of the Bladeborn.
Of Ancients Unbound is one of the best books I have read. And the Bladeborn Saga is one of the best series I have read. Very much looking forward to he last book.
This book is so intriguing from start to finish wether it be a battle or side story leading to battle. Great book and I’ve co e to expect as much from this series!
A must read for the epic fantasy enthusiast. Great story telling that provokes vivid imagery of a detailed and truly fantastic world! The caracters are so well written, I feel as if we grew up together. Well done!!!
joecoolives@comcast.net I have waited in eager anticipation for this book and for sure it didn't let me down. The Bladeborn saga is in my opinion the best fantasy epic I have read in a long time and take it from me that's high praise.
Wow !! This is the best book in the entire series. What a roller coster!! everything was happening all at once and coming togerher. I couldnt put it down :) My only complaint is that now I need to have to wait for book eight :/
I was very disappointed with this volume. I found about 80% of it pointless. The author should have finished, what otherwise has been a captivating story, in this volume. I guess it was an economic decision. I recommend liberal skimming.
Loudest one excellent story, read all the books up to now and can’t wait for book 8 to come out. How do you say something about a book that carries you through the hardest times of your life? I would definitely recommend this book
Great book. Great series! Would recommend. The world building and characters are strong! My only issue is that there are not another 5 books on the way 😜
