Irwin Allen's The Time Tunnel: The Dimensions of Time

Rate this book
Captain Lewis Haworth, young hacker MB, dark web operative Cole Smith and marine biologist Clare MacGregor found themselves in a changed world, controlled by the sinister Rakervia. In a secret military base in Arizona, they reactivated the Time Tunnel and set out across history, on a mission to track down the lost scientists Tony Newman and Doug Phillips, and restore the world as it should be.

2.1 Families and Lies - June 28 1969, by Mark B Oliver - Cole arrives, alone, in Greenwich Village, Manhattan on Saturday, 28th June 1969, the day before the Stonewall uprising. With Lewis and MB nowhere to be found, he forges new friendships, but they have their own troubles. Inside the Project Tic-Toc Control Room, Clare must persuade Elenya that reuniting her friends is in all their interests.

2.2 Divine Intervention - April 1429, by Lisa McMullin - MB and Cole find themselves in 15th Century France, towards the end of the Hundred Years War. It's France versus England but MB and Cole will be lining up on the side of France - alongside the Maid of Orleans herself - Joan of Arc. Is she a witch, a heretic or a feminist revolutionary?

2.3 Rendezvous with Tomorrow - April 15th 1912, by Gary Hopkins - MB and Cole follow in the footsteps of Doctors Newman and Phillips aboard the doomed passenger ship Titanic in the year 1912. It seems that, after all, history can be re-written. Clara MacGregor, meanwhile, discovers that the past can be read in different ways. Is it possible that the journey's end is in sight?

2.1 Families and Lies - June 28 1969 - The Stonewall Riots are the focus of this episode. Very personal to me, and I was in tears by the end of it. Loved this one. (5/5)

2.2 Divine Intervention - April 1429 - Joan of Arc at Orleans is the backdrop for this caper. There’s a lot of timey-whimey business going on, as the overall story develops. But a lot of this deals with faith, how it bolsters people’s courage and will and how it can lead to disaster, what makes this particularly interesting is that the time travelers seem to have created some aspects of faith, simply by being “post-game quarterbacks” as the saying goes. Rather like pulling oneself up by your own bootstraps. Some d this worked for me, some of it didn’t. (3/5)

2.3 Rendezvous with Tomorrow - April 15th 1912 - And now we return to the Titanic. I say return because the original TV series started with a Titanic episode. Actually, with the number of narratives and TV shows that have added character to the the Titanic, I’m beginning to think it wasn’t the iceberg that sank the ship, it was all the extra weight from these unaccounted for stowaways and time travelers. Seriously, can we just leave the Titanic to sink and rest in pieces (not funny? Too soon?) Anyway, all things considered, I really enjoyed this episode. More than the previous one, but the first episode in this box set is still my favorite here. (4/5)

There also the usual behind-the-scenes interviews with cast and crew. Now, Big Finish are you listening? I’m begging you don’t stop here! Please continue this series. I know I want going to pick it up originally, but jeez this is so good. Please get the gang back together and get us another set or two. You can’t leave us all hanging like this, just like the original series left us all hanging for 60 years.
