From USA Today bestselling author Leslie Langtry comes a hilarious new Merry Wrath mystery...
It’s not news that the Iowa towns of Bladdersly (Home of the Raging Bladders) and Who’s There (the Fighting Who-rish) are rivals and have been for more than a century. And as everybody knows—the best way to deal with a rivalry is to exploit it! So Who’s There’s youngest mayor creates The WhoBla Olympics to settle things once and for all!
Everyone is going to compete, including ex-CIA agent turned Girl Scout leader Merry Wrath Ferguson and her troop. The events are a bit strange, with Extreme Hide & Seek and Dodge Archery, but all’s fair in the spirit of competition, right? Sure, there’s a little cheating and sabotage going on, but it’s nothing…until a body turns up with Merry’s arrow in its chest. And what could go wrong when you have two police departments taking the spirit of competition too far in seeing who will solve the crime first?
Will Merry and her teammate, Hilly, medal in Dodge Archery? Will the event heal the rift between these two towns? Can Merry solve the crime before Chief Magnum of the Bladdersly PD locks her up? Get your nachos and take your seat in the stands to see who comes out on top…and who is going down!
Leslie Langtry is a USA Today Bestselling Author of the Merry Wrath Mysteries and the Bombay Family of Assassins Greatest Hits series. She lives in the Midwest with her family and is an active Girl Scout volunteer. Her dream is to someday invent calorie free cake.
When an author has over thirty books in a series, is there any doubt they have a following ? I mean, come on ..... thirty books !!!
Well Leslie Langtry has that with her Merry Wrath Mystery series and Medal For Murder is her thirty-second book in this series. If you haven't read any of the books in this series, I highly suggest you do. This series is so fun !!!
In Medal For Murder main character Merry Wrath and her crazy crew are participating in an Olympic games event between their town, Who's There, and a rival town, Bladdersly. Who's There mayor, thirteen year old, Ava, has set everything up. But she didn't plan for the Bladdersly eighteen year old mayor, Barney, to be murdered at one of the game sites .... or that Merry's arrow would be the murder weapon !!
Luckily for both towns the murder occured in the county so neither town is in charge of the investigation. But that will not stop Merry, her husband Rex, and friends to do a little investigating of their own.
Even without a murder to solve readers will love this series. You have teenagers in charge of political offices, ex-spies doing crazy things, a young girl who can communicate with animals, and so much more !!!
I could continue to talk about more with this series but I think if you aren't a fan yet, I have given you enough of a push to go grab a book or two or thirty. Langtry knows how to entertain readers .... and with thirty-two books, you better believe it !!!
Thoughts: The crazy teen mayor of Who’s There, Iowa, and her cronies are up to their usual hijinx once again. In this case, they’re holding Olympics style contests—though who would want to compete in Dodge Archery (think dodge ball, but with bows and arrows), or hide-and-seek that turns deadly? While Merry attempts to keep a lid on the shenanigans (and the cheating), she’ll also need to figure out who killed the mayor of Bladdersly before their sheriff throws her in the clink.
These books are a hoot to read. A mayor who’s only fourteen? An ex-CIA agent who’s in charge of the Girl Scouts? A pal of the mayor who is as bloodthirsty—and sly—as they can get? Four hamsters who are actual deputies? Raccoons who bake? There is so much going on in these stories—most of it definitely in the “unbelievable” realm of thought. But they’re full of ridiculous fun. So if you want to just shake your head and laugh…
Recommended.

Merry Wrath's Girl Scouts score big in this newest adventure. They have created a week long "Olympic Games" between Who's There and rival neighboring town Baddersly. The middle school troop (led by cut-throat Mayor Ava and Betty, who is sure to become a world class spy in a few years) have devised unusual competitions, detailed rules, and a rule book of over 50 pages. Even with the "interference" by the troop leaders, it's unparalleled concept almost puts the Olympics to shame. To complicate the events there's cheating, premeditated "adjusting" the events by the competition, and murder. All your favorite characters are involved, and new ones introduced that I hope will return in future books. Be prepared to burst into laughter and be impressed by police skills that have nothing to do with crime. Jam packed fun that I couldn't put down. One of the best in a truly remarkable series you won't want to miss!
Fantastic! What a creative and extremely entertaining book in the Merry Wrath series, truly unique. Ava and the girls have created the first ever WhoBla Olympics, where the towns of Who's There and Bladdersly compete Olympic-style in various events, and since they were created by mainly Betty, with the guidance of Kelly, Merry, and Rex to ensure the safety of the contestants (because you know…Betty!), the whole thing is both hilarious and a little scary! But when a very important person from Bladdersly is murdered, with Merry's arrow, it turns into a full murder investigation! As a twist, there is a lot of cheating going on in the various competitions, and even squirrels and raccoons take part in the games (also cheating of course). Not your typical cozy mystery, which is what I love about this whole series!
Another great Merry Wraith mystery! I love how Ms. Langtry writes. Her detailed descriptions help me picture every scene. The main characters are all so different and they each have a place in the story. I love the parts where you can hear Merry’s thoughts. She’s an ex-CIA agent, yet she is naive about a lot of every day things. This book brings together two towns, who despise each other, to participate in some “Olympic” competitions. And, of course, there’s a murder right in the middle. Looking forward to the next Merry Wraith “adventure”!
Mayor Ava and the scouts are up to it again. It another of their efforts to promote their town of Who’s There, Iowa, they decide to have a Olympics competition with their bitter rival, Bladdersly. The WhoBla Olympics rule book has been written by Betty – what could go wrong. Former CIA agent and Girl Scout leader Merry has her hands full with this one! There is the usual cast of characters any they are all involved with an activity. However, the first activity of Hide & Seek takes an unexpected turn when the mayor of Bladdersly is found dead. Completely fun with a good mystery!
yes, I have and have read 32 Leslie Langtry novels and this one is a winner. I know these characters, I know what they look like, I know what they are going to say and do and I love them all. Even with all their crazy the girl scouts develop and mature and Merry becomes more adult and the great adults in the room, Kelly and Rex step outside the lines just a little bit more with each story. I am so grateful when I can get a new book and distract myself for a few hours into the adventures in rural Iowa with the crazy Girl Scouts led by a ex-CIA spy.
Medal for Murder is another delightful caper with Merry and her scouts. Mayor Ava and crew have dreamed up the week long Olympics between Who’s There and Bladdersly. With very imaginative events, lots of cheating, even by the participating squirrels and raccoons, the murder of the Bladdersly mayor and a turf war from Bladdersly’s chief of police, this well plotted book kept me reading just one more page, until I finally finished it way too soon!
Lots of hilarious and entertaining hijinx ensues when the two neighbouring towns hold their version of the Olympic Games. During the competitions Merry also becomes involved in a murder investigation. A fun easy cozy murder mystery that made me laugh out loud. Highly recommend.
Merry's troop is at it again. They make up an olympic like event with the neighboring rival town. As usual, craziness in all areas happens along with a murder. Everyone is a suspect, but you will not believe who did it. Always a fun, laugh out good read. Never a dull moment with these characters. I can't wait to see what trouble they get into next.
I love all Leslie Langtry’s books! Her characters make me laugh out loud. I especially love the Hamlets & in this book the squirrels. The WhoBla Olympics were a great idea. Athletic events & murder, a wonderful combination. Definitely not to be missed!
Another hilarious story in the Merry Wrath series. This one had me in stitches the entire time. The entire concept was brilliantly funny. Absolutely loved it. Can’t wait to see what shenanigans are nexts for Merry and the gang.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I never think of the Girl scouts or their famous cookies without picturing Merry and her crazy troop! I love the setting, the characters, and the interests plots. A special nod from me to Lauren and her critters. Dean and the twins, and the nutty, too-too funny events!
This is another wild and crazy book in this series that will keep you laughing through the whole book. Crazy over the top adventures with a great cast of characters. I enjoyed every minute of this book. I adore this series.
Another outstanding win for the Merry Wrath mystery series. The idea of The WhoBla Olympics is an fantastic setting for the latest mystery (from"Whose There" and "Bladdersly" Iowa). This has to be the brain child of Ava and Betty. My favorite characters all appear (Hilly in Dodge Archery, LOL) even Rex gets in on the action as the two town police departments compete in an event. The girl scouts continue to amaze and entertain.
