I was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, I still live there as well as in Dublin, Ireland. I've been a soldier, freelance journalist, tended bar, sold designer cakes, owned a painting and decorating company along with a number of other schemes and scams. If that doesn't offend you I also play bagpipes with the Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band. All my books stand alone, read them in whatever order you wish. They are filled with the sort of oddballs we are all curious about, but wisely, prefer to keep at a distance. None of my characters will be saving the world from terrorism, international banking conspiracies or coups to take over the government. Rather, they inhabit a world just below the surface of polite society, characters with one foot on either side of the law. The circumstances they find themselves in are usually due to bad decisions, but bad decisions lead to interesting stories. They serve not so much as an example but as a warning to us all. Thanks for taking the time, happy reading.
U.S. Marshal Jack Dillon, assigned to Dublin Police, An Garda Síochána, is out for a jog and unknowingly passes a home that’s about to become a crime scene. Then there’s a second murder. Two women who worked for the same firm are murdered and Dylan and his partner, Paddy Suel, catch the cases. The suspects are many, from the obvious to the surprising. Dillon and Suel keep coming up empty handed; Dillon senses something is wrong, but following his instincts may just put his job in jeopardy. Or at least catch him some disciplinary action.
Don’t let the book 20 scare you off – the books in this series can be read as standalones, and if you’re obsessive like me, the author does a good job of filling in the characters’ backstories so you don’t feel lost
As anticipated, this was a great read. Action packed, crisp dialogue, entertaining from the word go. I’m a huge fan of Jack Dillon and Mike Faricy and this entry did not disappoint. I enjoy the relationship between the characters, and I like going along for the ride as Dillon, Suel, and the rest of the crew work out the details and solve the crime. The police work in this series feels realistic – sometimes punches are thrown and chases occur, and Dillon gets in trouble, but more often than not solving the case involves hours of watching CCTV, reading financial records, and knocking on doors. Faricy manages to spice it all up with humor.
If you like Carl Hiaasen, Tim Dorsey, Elmore Leonard, Janet DeLeon, Laurence Shames, and Janet Evanovich, you may also enjoy Mike Faricy and Jack Dillon.
Faricy also writes the Dev Haskell Private Investigator series; the Hotshot series; and the Corridor Man series.
Get ready for an exciting ride to justice. Dillion and Suel work tirelessly to find answers to the killing of two young women who were brutally murdered. Their only connection was their jobs in the corporate world. Five thousand dollars bought life in prison to a couple of repeat offenders. A wealthy and successful businessman constructs the facade of his character while playing the game of embezzlement, termination, and fraud. A very fast paced, exciting page turner that keeps you reading until the truth comes out and “ the boys” earn their pint.
I don't care what Mr. Faricy writes it's always smart, witty, enticing, entertaining, and just plain great. The banter between Dillon and Suel is funny showing how their friendship glows and grows. Another hit out of the ballpark for Mr. Faricy; a fantastic story for the rest of us. Highly Recommended.
Mr. Faricy has done it again. The author's knowledge of police procedures and crime shines throughout the book. If you enjoy a good mystery with police undertones, this book is for you.
I've read all of the books so far and never disappointed. Dillon and Suel are my favorite team and enjoy reading about Ireland along with a good investigation.
Always a good read when I dive into a Mike Faricy book.
Mike Faricy never disappoints me. His writing is so much fun. I love the characters and the storyline as he delivers the plot. Good times are had when I sit down to read his books.
Dillon and Suel are assigned to a murder case in Dublin, Ireland that quickly becomes complicated and with very few clues. As they investigate and uncover more information the plot thickens. A great story.
I preorder every book by this author Light clean easy flow story line; detective - murder story. Some humor too. No gore, no foul language, conversations are short and move fast and easy. Multiple characters but just enough to remember them all.
I always enjoy Mike's book, all the different series, I've read them all. Just started the Yucky Yates books, read the first one, have ordered the second. Always entertaining.
As always Mike Faricy hit out of the park. Couldn’t put it down, so a day of not getting much done. That’s alright enjoyed Private Matters immensely and would recommend.
This was a great book, as all of Mike's are. I like how everything played out, especially the end, if you really think about it. It's possible the wife was actually taking the money.
Dillon and Suel (and Lucifer) always deliver! In their twentieth case, the stakes are high as they search for the reasons for the brutal murders of two young women. I always enjoy the balance of their police work and personal lives. You will feel as if you are learning the neighborhoods and daily life of the city. Now I'm tempted to add Dublin to the travel wish list. Bravo to Mike Faricy for another great read!
Two women who work in the financial area of the same large real estate company, are murdered on the same day. The financial records are spotless. Paddy and Dillon finally find some to give them a clue, but he gets murdered. The situation looks hopeless. Even if they find the perps, they have no way to prove who hired them. This calls for a bit of diseption.
