Following the tragic events of Into the Darkness, Major Malcom “Mac” Lambert gets a second chance to hunt down the conspirators behind the ambush that started it all. Driven by vengeance and partnering with an old friend, Mac’s investigation leads to the planet Okuta, during the most important Galactic Coalition Summit in a generation.
With all eyes on the Summit, the investigation quickly unveils two startling discoveries. One threatens the entire galaxy, and the other turns Mac’s world upside down.
Hidden in the shadows, a traitor aids the conspirators in the race to find an ancient alien spaceship containing a mysterious artifact with unrivaled power. The search turns catastrophic as the artifact’s owners—a ruthless alien species from deep space—show up at the Summit’s front door.
Charles Hack is the author of the Space Warfare Group Sci-Fi/Space Opera books and the Hank Lin Mysteries. After writing for nearly twenty years, his first published novel is Into the Darkness. He studied electrical engineering in college and is still a licensed professional engineer with over twenty years of experience before retiring and entering full time Christian ministry. He currently serves as a pastor in his hometown and has a master’s degree in systematic theology.
Writing is one of his passions along with reading, woodworking, and coffee. Charles is married with two children and three noisy dogs. They live on a small ranch, known as the Ranchini, in the Great Basin of Northern Nevada.
This is a great story, full of action, enemies and traitors. Very descriptive aliens and wonderful characters. Addictive and riveting, can't wait for the next book.
Book Review – Shrouded into Darkness – Charles Hack Author Charles Hack’s space adventure series, the Space Warfare Group is back with Book 2, “Shrouded into Darkness.” The Space Warfare Group books are a new and different kind of space thriller with relatable characters, hardcore space-military action, and shady political conspiracies that tickle the readers’ curiosity. Hack does a fine job of keeping the reader engaged with his imaginative writing and skilled storytelling. Main character Major “Mac” Lambert is back from Book 1, “Into the Darkness,” but this time partnering with an old friend, investigating a volatile universal political situation during an important Galactic Coalition Summit. The investigation quickly unveils startling discoveries that threaten the entire galaxy and turns Lambert’s personal life upside down. The plot and storyline turn disastrous when ruthless space aliens show up at the Summit and create havoc and turmoil that Lambert must address. Unique space military action, sinister galactic political schemes, and compelling space characters, Shrouded into Darkness is the perfect title for this ‘shadowy’ sci-fi political action thriller. Again, I’m not a big fan of sci-fi thriller books, but I like what Hack has created in these two distinctive outer space military action thrillers. Rare and uniquely different, Shrouded into Darkness was an entertaining and enjoyable sci-fi action thriller read.
The first in the series was OK, this is a noticable improvement A few surprises at the beginning, not big ones, the precis mentions Mac and Sanchez, so you know they are part of the story. However, they are the main part, with a couple of new people that were originally from the prequel to the series. Cash Raider is back and so are all of the crew from book 1 We learn a lot more about the Noch and finally find out what the whole series will be about. The ending was a slight anti climax, but leads well into what will be book 3
I started book 1 finished it I had to read book two immediately.
Mac and the team are a bunch of crazy people. The plot changes every 20 or so pages. Why did the general take the body of another and leave in a secret spaceship. Who knows what book 3 will hold.
These two books in the series are fantastic reads! Much action throughout. No boring technical explanations. Story is well structured. I recommend this series to any military Sci-Fi readers!
