Cameron Wright has had her life planned out since before she was tall enough to see over the steering wheel on her dad’s tractor. Find a man, marry him, and pop out half a dozen babies. Never one to miss a step, her plan was foolproof, that is until her one true love decided to ditch their college plans to become what she would refer to as the next real-life Rambo. Setting off on a new adventure across the country, working for world-renowned hairstylist Daveed Jones, she’s attempting to shake off the memories and finally let go of the past. You might as well start over when everything else has blown up in your face, right?
Committing fully to seizing the reins, Cam is hitting the dating scene, forcing herself to trade french fries for salads, and making memories concocting alter egos while spinning around the dance floor at the local country bar and soaking up the sunshine with her lovable roommate. There’s only one problem. After each new date, she finds herself waking up overheated, fantasizing about her ex.
Will Davenport is determined not to feel feelings. He walked away from love to avoid repeating the mistakes of his father, swearing it off altogether. When his sister makes a sudden appearance on his doorstep, the more-than-content bachelor joins his friends for a night on the town. Little does he know, the shock of his life is coming in the form of the one girl who he’s always claimed as his own. Will’s no stranger to navigating sticky situations, he does it daily as a special operations soldier. But the road to winning her back is paved with obstacles, two-stepping, and enough peonies to bankrupt the wealthiest of suitors.
Can Cameron resist his attempts at winning her over in favor of staying safely tucked into the friend zone? Or should she give in to fate, finally acknowledging they are coincidentally kismet?

When would authors ever realize that the whole "it's only ever been you" crap is just that - a bunch of 💩.
He walks away from FMC because of some lame excuse of not being good for her when she is suppose to be the love of his life - only to start dating & hooking up with others. Yeah, I can see where she is his one & only.
I tried dating when I first joined up. It went okay but I always found myself wondering when the other shoe would drop, when would they find out I’m not all they hoped and dreamed of. The first time I pictured my ex when hooking up with another woman, I called it. I won’t lose another person I care for, and I won’t become my dad, longing for something or someone else.
As always, thanks to Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read this ARC! This was a super cute second chance romcom. The pacing was spot-on, and the chemistry between Cameron and Will felt natural and authentic. Cam was incredibly relatable with her self-conscious tendencies and her difficulty of letting down walls, even when it will lead to things that are good for her. And who doesn't want a man like Will, when he looks at Cam everything else disappears. The side characters added so much charm, especially Lo. She is a bestie we all need!
3.5 stars. I genuinely enjoyed this read , it kind of started off a bit too slow for me but once they finally were in the same proximity the story took off from there ,this is my first military romance and boy did it tug at my heart strings ! I love a good second chance romance , frenemies to lovers . I loved the mental health rep and the talks about PTSD , although I liked how they discussed briefly of PTSD I wish they dived in a bit more about it in detail , especially wills PTSD , he didn't even mention it to Cam in depth which I was really looking forward too , I even anticipated maybe an episode happening Infront of her , leading to him confessing about him having it , also the lack of communication got a bit frustrating and a bit upsetting there wasn't an epilogue, BUT other than those things I still enjoyed it , I will definitely continue to read the series, I hope amy gets a book , I see her and butler might have something, I also hope there's a book of Lo and Scott and seeing it from a different perspective and more in depth of how they come to be. I'd also like to see maybe Bri and Elliott ? Who knows. All in all I really did like this book . Well done Kelli . ✨

This was a cute second chance romcom. FMC and MMC were couple in highschool but broke up before going to college and reunite again after 5 years. Their journey from being lovers to enemies to lovers again was beautiful but I'm still angry on some things. I really loved Cam, like she was strong minded but still so self-conscious about her body. Will irritated the fuck outta me. Why? Because I find his excuse to break-up before going to college lame. Five years later, he was still giving excuses ughhhhh. It felt repetitive at one point. Started liking him after reading 75% of the book lol.
Overall a fun and cozy read with some sweet moments. Really recommend if you like second chance romances with little spice and banter.
First of all, I want to say thank you to Love Notes PR and the author, Kelli Cooke for the advanced copy.
4.75 stars on SG rounding to a 5 here
You’ll like this if you like - lovers to enemies to lovers / second chances - friendships - A little spice - 90s references
Do yourself a favor and read the trigger warnings beforehand. I need to add that I also thought that part was done so wonderfully. And adding music/songs to each chapter was a wonderful, not common, touch.
^^TLDR^^
Reading this as someone who currently lives in Tampa, has dealt with the dating app options here (big fish or military bro, iykyk), works in mental health and has done so with family members of services members on base here, also speaks in Taylor Swift lyrics, over thinks, and has the same fears as Will, was SUCH an experience. Things like: Tampa General, Bayshore Blvd, Miguel's, MacDill Ave all being thrown around in a book is just so wild lol.
I may be biased because I have lived these experiences (did I mention that I too have had a guy decide what’s best for me after HS?), but I think the author does a truly remarkable job of making all of these characters relatable in their own ways.
Lo and Cam’s friendship is one people aspire to have as is the relationships that the MFC and MMC have with their siblings. The insecurities and childhood and adult difficulties that Cam and Will are faced with are ones that are all too familiar. The author having them go through therapy, and be open about it, and having the different characters discuss the impact of the military on them and their loved ones was done with such care.
This book made me groan in annoyance and frustration, smile and kick my feet giggling, laugh out loud, and cry. The story of not only Cam and Will but of their circle of friends and family draws you in and makes you want to keep reading until you know where they all end up.
I will say, Cam’s rush to the worst case scenario and Will’s inability to think things through was extra annoying as a reader but it’s also something that you could just tell were realistic responses for both of them under the circumstances.

There were some beautifully hilarious, relatable, and life-lesson quotes in this book. Here are a few of my favorite:
“No you’re right. If Taylor can do it with a broken heart, I can do this. Or at least I will try…”
“I’m frantically pushing down the many questions my favorite friend, the over thinker, is tossing at me”
“It’s times like this I wish I had an ounce of chill.”
“If you can’t be kind to yourself, then how could anyone else be expected to be kind to you”
"Not all wounds are visible but that doesn’t make them any less real."
ARC review - 3.25/5 ⭐️ First of all thank you to the author and LoveNotesPR for this arc.
So this is a second chance romance about Will and Cameron. They were a couple in highschool, but before going to college they broke up.
After a long time, they see reunite again. This is very hard, especially for Cam. The book is written in dual pov which I like a lot of the times, because you get to know both of the main characters better and their thoughts and feelings as well. In this book I liked it as well, but only in the beginning, I was a bit irritated. That is because when some events happened where both of them were at the same time, you read it in both of their pov, which I fine, but some things were repeated and I didn't think that was necessary. But this was only in the beginning of the book.
I enjoyed the rest of the book. It's an emotional second-chance romance. There is more depth in it since both have some baggage. Make sure to check some trigger warnings before reading this book.
I think the author did a great job with adding the military aspect of Will. And gives his character a little bit more.
Since they broke-up before going to college there was some tension and doubt in the beginning if they could trust each other. Which is normal, but at some point it felt a little to much.
Overall I enjoyed this book and it's a book I would recommend reading. Oh and love the cover too!!
Thank you Love Notes PR for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book started off gripping! I was very invested in this story but as time went on it started to lose its momentum, the FMC was always talking down to herself and even though her friends would call her out on it, but she had body issues from her childhood trauma. I didn’t like the incorrect military references. The author kept referring to the MMC as a soldier but he was in the Air Force… nobody in the Air Force calls themselves a soldier. The story over all fell flat, the love scenes felt rushed, sometimes I couldn’t follow the time line. And the overall story just didn’t sit right with me. The MMC was a jerk in my eyes, he left for what felt like no reason at all and then misses her for 5 years makes no attempt to reach out not even once. It just seemed so unrealistic. But I wanted to give the author some grace this is her first debut novel and for that I think she did pretty good creating a premise and writing a novel.
Overall rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️ (slow burn, but worth it!)
Let’s set the scene: One moment, you’ve got your life somewhat together (or at least pretending you do). The next? BAM—fate, destiny, or maybe just bad luck throws your one true love back into your life after years of radio silence. And guess what? He’s even hotter, still broody, and definitely determined to win you back.
Welcome to Coincidentally Kismet, a second-chance romance that will have you laughing, swooning, and possibly yelling at your Kindle (or physically throwing it—no judgment).
This book delivers everything you want in a second-chance romance: • A heroine trying to convince herself she’s over him (spoiler: she’s NOT). • A hero who may be tough on the outside but is basically a golden retriever when it comes to her. • Banter so good it deserves its own rom-com movie deal. • Enough slow-burn tension to set your Kindle on fire.
The writing? Chef’s kiss. The chemistry? Off the charts. The drama? Just the right amount to have you clutching your blanket in anticipation. Also, let’s talk about how Kelli Cooke expertly weaves in real-life struggles—trust, abandonment, and the emotional toll of the military—without making it feel heavy-handed. It’s all just so well done.
If you’re a sucker for grumpy-sunshine dynamics, fate bringing lovers back together, a military hero who actually has emotional depth, and banter that will make you giggle like a teenager, this book is a must-read.
Now, excuse me while I go reread all my favorite moments and pretend I’m not still emotionally attached.
Thank you Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!
I instantly knew I was going to enjoy this read when I saw that Kelli had created a playlist with a song to go along with each chapter!
I'm normally not a big fan of second-chance romcoms, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one! As someone who has always struggled with their mental health and body image issues, I appreciated seeing the representation in this story. While I did crave more spice, the connection between Will and Cameron felt genuine and authentic, which made up for that lack. This will definitely not be my last read by Kelli Cooke!
Let me start out by saying that I absolutely LOVE how each chapter has its own song that corresponds with it to give you a fully immersive experience.
It is a second-chance romance, but the banter is hilarious and I love that the MMC has a nickname for once! It has great PTSD and mental health rep written within the storyline where it is not overwhelming, but still gets the point across that therapy is important.
This was super relatable with Cam’s self-consciousness and the connection between Cam and Will was authentic and makes you feel like this could all seriously happen in real life, which I love! I think that this has the potential to be a series with other couples forming and I think it would be great to get those stories! Thank you to Love Notes PR for the ARC!
✨Thank you to the author and Love Notes PR for the ARC. What a fun opportunity! ✨
3.5⭐️ 🌶️ This lovers to ghosted to enemies to friends to lovers debut romance was quite the ride. It felt like I had access to both the main characters’ diaries where they were (sometimes exhaustively) completely candid. Man did this story and Cam’s overthinking and insecurities take me right back to my early twenties when everything ESPECIALLY relationships had the weight of the world attached to it. The relatability of both Cam’s and Will’s difficulties with vulnerability, fear of failure and constant second guessing won me over in the end. Oh to be young and in love.
Daveed and Micah were fun side characters!
Quotes:
“Can I buy self confidence on Amazon?”
“Is being in love really just being on edge forever with fear of what could go wrong?”
This story definitely had me hoping and rooting for the characters to step off the edge and lean in to the comfort of love.
Cameron is currently working as an assistant for a world-renowned hairstylist while trying to reinvent herself. But whenever her dates go south, she finds herself dreaming about her ex—the one she made foolproof plans with for the future, until he decided to abandon their college dreams to pursue his own as the "next Rambo," as she sarcastically calls it.
Fate, or should I say kismet, had other plans when she unexpectedly bumped into her first love, William. Time had turned him into a gorgeous, muscular Staff Sergeant who could give any Greek god a run for his money. Cam tries to play it cool, telling herself (and him) that she hates him. After all, that’s what any sane woman would do after having her heart broken. But deep down, she knows the truth: he was always the one for her, and no matter how far he went, he'd always hold a piece of her heart.
As for William, not a single day in those five years went by without him thinking about her. However, his fears of abandonment—rooted in scars from his past—had held him back from facing the love he couldn’t forget.
Before this book, I hadn’t read many stories involving the military. It was eye-opening to learn about the struggles they and their loved ones endure, especially the emotional toll of their missions and the uncertainty they face. Kelli masterfully touches on real-life issues like body insecurities, trust, and abandonment, weaving them into a heartfelt narrative. She also emphasizes the importance of love and communication as a remedy for these challenges.
I'm so glad that Cam and her "Rambo" finally got their happy ending. This book has earned a spot on my favorites list—it’s a story full of love, redemption, and second chances.
Coincidentally, Kismet is the delightful new novel by Kelli Cooke that reads like an outdoor Sunday champagne brunch. The narrative is presented in a he said/she said format, offering a light, often bubbling, and sparkling story that will tickle the reader's nose and quench the thirst of anyone in the mood for a romantic comedy.
The plot revolves around Cam and Will, who were once hopelessly in love until the pressure to maintain a "perfect" relationship drove Will to retreat and join the military. His decision deeply hurt the vivacious and once optimistic Cam, who had been pining for years. Fast-forward to years later, and the two ex-lovers cross paths in Florida. Cam is now an aspiring hair stylist, while Will has become a highly disciplined soldier who is still unready to commit.
The central premise explores the age-old question of whether former lovers can become just friends. Cooke's prose is fluid and engaging, spicy without being salacious, and the novel reads like a prequel to Sex and the City. The character of Cam, along with her life and struggles, come alive through the author's sincere charm and deft and competent writing style.
Under Cooke's capable hands, readers of are in for a treat breezy, literary meal that will soon have them wanting more.
⚠️TW - (as stated in book) on page sexually explicit material, post traumatic stress disorder/anxiety, discussion/mention of suicide, body image/negative self-talk, descriptive scenes of violence in a war setting⚠️
Coincidentally Kismet was a cute, fun, second chance read that dealt with fairly heavy topics. I laughed and I cried and was able to relate to much of what was going on in the story. Cam was a funny badass woman who dealt with her fair share of issues because of past trauma and Will was a handsome airman who also made most of his choices based on past trauma.
This book was well written and very enjoyable. Both the main characters and the side characters were lovable and relatable. I spoke with Kelli Cooke and as of now she plans on Coincidentally Kismet being a standalone, but with the fun side characters I definitely see the opportunity for her to revisit these Tampa friends in the future. 4/5⭐
I don't even know where to start, I loved this book it made me scream, freak out, cry and smile at the same time. I couldn't tear myself away from the pages, I found the writing really flowing and the protagonists adorable.
I saw myself in Cam's insecurities about her physical appearance, about her being an overthinker and it was impossible not to empathize with her.
I also saw myself in Will, I loved seeing how much he was still down for her after years and how he is a giant green flag.
I started this book with very high expectations, starting from the plot and the tropes that I love (second chance, military romance) and I think that he did a great job in how he treated Will's military aspect, it's rare to find one so well Done. the only sore point is that I would have preferred a longer epilogue, although I imagine that it was not written to give space to the next couples (I hope, I don't want to be delulu 🍀)
ps. I demand a book about Bri, as I know it will be a constant crying while I read it
Really enjoyed reading this one! This story felt so real in my opinion. It was a little slow starting out but it quickly picked up and I couldn’t put it down!
I really related to the FMC on her struggles, her body insecurities and how she feels about her life! She was a huge reason I loved this book so much.
This story is heartbreaking, beautiful, funny, relatable, and so sweet. I love second chance romance and enemies to lovers, so if you love those tropes you should enjoy this as well!
I also loved the playlist and how each chapter had a specific song!
Overall this was an enjoyable read and I can’t wait to see more from this author!
Thank you so much Love Notes PR and Kelli Cooke for the ARC! My first ARC was a great one 🥹🤍
I don’t know why I took so long to read the story. I knew I wanted to I had a feeling I would like it, but it took me forever to pick it up. But let me tell you something, once I picked it up I could rarely put it down. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I am a sucker for the second chance trope. And Cam and Will are literally like music to my ears. The fact that they truly fell back into each other‘s lives was so entertaining to read. Also the banter back-and-forth between Cam and Willwas super entertaining to read. There’s a touch of angst, a touch of hurt and bitterness. But I love that they work through their problems and seem to get past it to be happy together again.

Thanks to Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read this ARC! This was a super cute second chance romcom. The pacing was slow at first
Cam and Will reunite after breaking up 5 years previously. The banter between these two was great. I was questioning how their story would end literally the entire book and even in the last chapters questioning which direction Kelli would pull the ending, I was on the edge of my seat

Will and Cameron were high school sweethearts until he broke her heart after graduation and left for the military. Years later, they meet again and it’s…fate, or destiny, or kismet, or perhaps even coincidence that brings them together again. Told in first person, dual PoV-She’s a hairdresser and he’s in the military and there are great scenes centered around each (love this!) There is humor and there are tough situations that the characters navigate and I was gladly along for the ride. A sweet, second chance romance where the characters shine. 4.25 stars Many thanks to the author and LoveNotesPR for an advanced copy-thoughts are honest and my own.
I really enjoyed this book! I was excited to dive into it, and it did not disappoint. It's a funny, entertaining, and adorable second-chance love story that I would absolutely recommend. That said, I did feel a bit frustrated at times with how quickly the FMC lost trust in Will, but given their history, it was completely understandable. Definitely worth a read!
Like the author said in her note, this love story felt like it was from the real life. Their reunion was awkward in a funny way. This book was funny and cute. I loved the banter between these two. I couldn't stop the tears sometimes, especially with body insecurities, because I identified with FMC, and because I was close with someone in the military. I loved the Ray Riley reference. I liked that book. The ending of this book was different from other romance books I read in the past. I hope the author have books for the rest of the characters.
Cameron and will story is super cute. They are high school sweetheart. Before college they break up. Now they are older and a little damaged, but who doesn’t have problems. She’s so amazing. Strong and sassy. She’s all alpha. Best part. We get a glimpse of both characters. Each with their thought. It started slow but just wait, it gets way better you won’t want to put it down.
I'm going to be honest. I loved and disliked this book at the same time. I loved the second chance romance aspect of it. I feel like Kelli did an amazing job with the military aspect of Will's character. Being in the military is no walk in the park and having a character deal with PTSD, depression, and therapy is incredible. Kudos 👏
My biggest issue came with the constant back and forth of emotions between Cam and Will. The "can I trust him/her" vibes were just too much at times. I also felt like their intimate scenes felt a bit rushed. I did, however, like that Cam felt relatable. Her inner feelings matched ones I've had myself (self doubt, not loving myself, etc).
Overall I liked the story. I'm giving it a 3.75 but rounding up to a 4. I think this author will continue to grow in her writing and have great success. I look forward to reading more. 💕
I enjoyed this book, slow burn in the beginning but for second chance I did like it. I’m a sucker for second chance and found family, there was banter and chemistry all packed in
Entertaining, captivating, enchanting, and just downright hilarious.... the bowling scene if you know you know. This book starts by tearing out your heart and then picking up 5 years later. The main characters have so much chemistry that you can't deny it, but they are both fighting their own struggles, and the side characters keep the book going too. They are amazing and well-rounded. The story has me laughing, crying, and cheering them on. It's such a sweet, funny story.
I genuinely loved this book so much! I feel the relationship felt very real and authentic. I’m starting to really love the second chance romance especially when it’s done as good as this book!
I received an ARC for my honest review. Overall 3.5/5. I really did enjoy the beginning of the book. The second chance slow burn was slow burning, but I felt like just when we started to see the FMC make some growth, she did the same thing again. Good spice, and realistic character flaws between all of the characters, which I appreciated! This book deals with real issues, and I very much am glad it wasn’t sugar coated.
