This was a fun quick read. I went into this book blindly. The only things I knew was that it was a dark romance, taboo, and has a age gap romance. This was my first book by this author and it won't be my last.

I liked the flow of everything. Some things happened that were unexpected and totally left me wondering if I missed something. I guess that was the author's way of throwing a curveball to wrap everything thing up.

I liked the chemistry between Dove and Reid, but I also felt it was lacking a bit. I wanted to have swoony moments, but really didn't. I also felt that the tension between them wasn't really there. I wanted more, especially because of the circumstances.

Overall, I still found this entertaining and quick. I would definitely recommend this book to my besties. Also I would love to get a book on Jonas! *hint, hint*

OVERALL - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely loved this book, it was a quick read, & it entertained me. I went into this book blind, not knowing anything. So this book took me by surprise, especially when it was a little thriller thrown in there. I was taken aback, the spice was sizzling hot, and most of the time I didn’t even see it coming.

I liked this book I really did the only thing that I didn’t like much was the tension, it was really no tension built. But other than that it was a really good book!

The quotes that I have saved are inhumanly numbered, but we listen and we don’t judge. The catchphrases & quotes have me in a choke hold, I genuinely was struggling to pick one for my Instagram post.

Besides that last but not least, would I recommend this book, AB-SO-FUCKING-LUTELY, I would definitely re-read it in the future.

“Take care of our girl for me”

Talk about a mystery romance story with thrill… is that a thing?! :) This is my second back I read from this author; complete turn of genres but I enjoyed it.

Dove is an independent woman living on her own in the secluded mountains. She’s a photographer that enjoys taking photos of wildlife.

One night, she felt the presence of someone watching her, this is when she first met Reid. Reid likes to follow Dove’s every move, and I mean everything move. There’s a reason he’s out in the mountains and it’s a secret.

The relationship Dove has with her mother is a bit strange. She tells Dove that she is going for dinner with her boyfriend and to dress nice and to be on her best behavior…

This is when the whole story flips. Read this book to find out who’s dating who and why.

This would have been an AMAZING thriller. But their "love story" gave me the ick.

The story of Dove and Reid was eerie and compelling from page one. The uneasy vibe kept me wanting to read, yet nervous to at the same time. The plot twists and creep factors had me guessing and being surprised until the end. It’s a sweet love story with a bit of spice and a dark vein running through, I recommend you check it out.

"Come on, little bird, a little danger is good for the soul."~Reid

"Scream for your monster, little bird. Scream for the man who makes you see stars in the middle of the night."~Reid

"Darkness will always find its light."~Reid

Well, this was different, a bit off putting, and extremely insta OTT. **There are trigger warnings. So be sure to check those out before reading.** Is it a dark romance, yeah, it was. To an extent. The stalking obsession, the creepiness of a man watching and touching a woman as she sleeps and leaves a picture of her sleeping behind in the morning... was eww. That checks out. Toxic. And let me write, this story starts right away. There's no eerie build up here at all of the main couple. It hits the ground and begins running for its life on chapter 1!!🏃🏼‍♀️💨🏃🏻💨

26yr old Dove Barlow is a wildlife photographer who lives on a mountain. And on one dark night, even as she hears twigs breaking, b/c this girll likes to take her night photos, she who had always been calm, suddenly isn't. Panic mode. It's wild animals. That's what it is. Until a man, a stranger, appears out of the shadows and starts talking. Do you know any woman who would stand there and talk back?! Uhh. Noooo. They would NOT. No banter of: 'I can take care of myself'. Let alone notice the color of his eyes.🙄 It's unrealistic already. Preposterous.lol She feels uneasy but isn't scared. That makes no sense. Maybe you should be scared Dove. He's gorgeous. Many women thought Ted Bundy was too.😬 When he approached and talked to her, there was light touching and she's turned on. Geez! Really? She was excited when Reid told her to RUN. Let that sink in for a second. Is that suppose to be cute? Playful? Dove was a very weird person in that regard. I don't even know what to make of her.🤦🏻 And the EXTRA comes months later when Dove meets with her snarky awful mother Jill and her fiancé. Guess who.🫡 And the real games of attraction, what's decent, how can I want my Mom's man, why do I want Reid's attention, let him follow me, find and watch me Reid, want me Reid... starts unraveling.🧶🧶🧶🧶 Dove's a hot mess. A very strange bird.😂😂😂

Reid's a 35yr old guy with secrets and mystery of why he was on the mountain that night. The intensity he has on having Dove became his existence. She's obsessed with him too. Unhealthy. Yeah. He calls himself a monster but aside from his impulsive stalking habits, I wouldn't call him a monster. I've read monster, and this character was tame in that regard. He's got reasons. He has a plan. His good friend Jonas needs his own story told. And Dove could be a brat with Reid, edging him with her 'make me' comments b/c it was all part of the game they were playing. It was about having control. He didn't back down. She didn't either.🙃🙃🙃

There's drama, some suspense, a murder mystery, which should have been developed a little more, and a last minute twist at the end that I felt was played as a last hurrah. That should have been started before not in the last couple of chapters of the book. It felt disjointed. There's consensual degradation. You want spice. It's here. I personally felt like it was a rush to make it explosive with Reid and Dove but it came across as overly repetitive.😛 There was no real connection or emotion for me to these characters. Maybe it can be for other readers. If you like stalking in your stories then give this one a try. I like the book cover. It's pretty. Happy reading.🦋🖤🦋🖤🦋

I’ll start by saying I am as always honored to be part of releases like this one! I signed up blindly loving the title and the cover - I do that a lot and it’s been leading to read some of the best books 🖤
This is my first Angel Anders book but it sur will not be my last! I wasn’t expecting it to be this small town dark romance thriller and it was exactly the refreshing read I never knew I needed! The whole plot felt like a mystery I had to solve as u kept reading. The spice was spicy and the stalker aspect didn’t feel like it does sometimes, like I’m not meant to be there to see it but I can’t take my eyes away from the page. Stalker romances are not my usual cup of tea but as I dive deeper into the dark romances I choose to read this book was the perfect steeping stone.
Dove felt so relatable in so many ways least of which being that I too always wanted to be a photographer, from when I as a young teen. Her vision of the world made her perfect for this part and for someone like Reid.
So Reid… I do have an easier time when I know the object of the stalker knows there’s someone out there. His loyalty and determination makes him all kinds of special.
As much as I love my crime tv shows I didn’t see this one coming, and though maybe some more context would have been helpful to understand the plot as a whole it was a dark thriller nevertheless-

Thank you Angel for sharing this story with us and I’m already looking forward to the next book I’ll devour after this! To Dove & Reid 🖤

I really enjoyed this ARC! 🖤🦋

Dove, the FMC, is a photographer who finds solace in her mountain home, taking professional pictures of nature. She is content in the little life she created for herself at 26yrs old… Until she meets the MMC, Reid.

The immediate attraction/lust between Dove & Reid was FELT through the pages 😳 Their desire was toxic at times (mostly for Dove), muddling morals and decision making. Which for me, just heightened the “morally grey” vibes. Reid was nothing short of obsessed with Dove at first sight and made it his ultimate mission to make her fall for him.

One problem, he has a BIG secret. One that could change everything. AND he’s her Mom’s Fiancé.

If there was any “complaint” from me at all about this story, it would be that he withheld the truth from Dove for far too long. She pressed him for it multiple times and he diverted the question each time by distracting her with s*x. I felt myself getting annoyed FOR her here & there. Other than that one minor irk, this ARC was great!

Has everything you want out of a Stalker Romance. Hella spicy. Many wide open door chapters with a lot of HEAT. I’ve experienced reads where the spice turns out to be cringey, but this one did not disappoint! She be SPICY 🥵 4/5🌶️

I enjoyed this book! It was a fun, spicy, and quick read that kept me on my toes with some suspense. Dove and Reid meet one night in a forest, and there’s an instant attraction between them. Fast forward a few months, and when Dove’s estranged mom invites her to meet her fiancé, Dove is shocked to find out that it's Reid! Even after all this time, they haven't forgotten each other, and the chemistry between them is still electric.

Dove is a talented wildlife photographer who loves her quiet life in the mountains, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. She’s a bit of a recluse, but she finds peace in nature, and it makes her happy. Reid, on the other hand, is a mysterious guy with his secrets, yet Dove can’t help but feel drawn to him. I loved how fiercely he goes after what he wants—he’s determined to win her over!

The suspense in this story was well done; it kept me curious and engaged throughout. Their romance is fast-paced, but it fits their story, and I just loved their chemistry! Overall, this is a fantastic book if you're looking for something quick, spicy, and entertaining, with just the right amount of suspense to keep you hooked till the last page.

I devoured this in less than 24 hours! 😍

From the moment you meet Dove, it’s clear she is the strong female main character you need in your life. A quick and tension-filled encounter with a mysterious man deep in the mountains changed her life forever. Months later, she meets her mother's new fiancé, who happens to be the same mystery man. She knows she shouldn’t feel anything for Reid, but there is a magnetic pull she cannot deny.

Dove and Reid's fast-paced, toxic love story is a whirlwind of emotions. I loved Dove's inner turmoil as she navigates this strange situation, skillfully playing the game and ultimately coming out on top. The romance is definitely fast-paced, but it works well with the narrative. Reid is obsessive, impulsive, and a straight-up stalker who knows instantly that Dove is his perfect match.

The flow of the storytelling was amazing. However, I felt there were some missing pieces, or that some issues were resolved too quickly with little detail. Still, this style suited the overall tone of the book. It’s very spicy and exceptionally well done!

This is the first book I’ve read written by Angel Anderson and I couldn’t be happier!
This book hooked me from the very first line!! Dove is a very special character, she’s sensitive, with that artistic sense that is magical. That first encounter with Reid is wow🤯
The stalker part catches me instantly but, Reid keeps a secret and a plan and I need to reed it, no, devoured it to find out what’s happening and why!!!

A romance with mystery I really really enjoyed!
Tropes you can find in this book:
- stalker
- obsessive MC
- neglected FC
- mystery and plans to reveal
- dual 1st POV
- plot twists

This book is an open- door scenes, 🥵🥵🥵

My ratings:
4,5/5⭐️ 2,5/5🌶️

I’ve received this book as an ARC and I’d like to thank Angel Anderson and her team at Grey’s Promotions for letting me read this book in advance and allow me to give my honest opinion.

No rating because I don’t think I can put it on ranking scale..
Plus, I don’t wanna be too harsh.

I’m at 70% while I write this and I’m rage reading at this point.
1. The writing is a bit repetitive throughout the whole thing.
2. The chemistry between the main characters is bland
3. The story development is all over the place and aloof.
4. Don’t get me started on the “nicknames” or the dirty talk.

•Was there spice?
Yes but it wasn’t tasteful or organic to the stories scenes.
•Was there banter?
Yes I suppose, but it was like arguing with a teenager.
•Did the plot/ book have potential?
100% yes!!! The idea behind it was THERE it just wasn’t play out well and that’s where the problem was.

This was my Bookclubs pick, and I’m intrigued to hear what the girls have to say at our meeting 👀

A tad twisted, covered in shadows and mystery, and yet still good. While I was incredibly angry for Dove at first, the truth started trickling out and I found that my anger melted to more of an annoyance that someone was holding out. I will say that Reid comes clean as soon as he can, but the non-answer answers sometimes got frustrating for both Dove and me.

And don’t get me started on Jill. Talk about opportunistic users! But all is well that ends well, even if the truth ends up being a big splash of what is and a dash of what really is. Either way, I’d say that justice is served and sometimes, obsessions maybe aren’t all bad. I do want more of Jonas, though. I’m pretty sure that guy has a story to tell!

Thanks to Angel Anders and Greys Promotions for the eARC! I leave this review willingly.

This was my first forray into dark stalker romances. And I think they may not be for me.

I think the cover is beautiful and I thought it was going to be more romantic and cutesy. I went in blind haha.

The insta love was very off putting. You best believe if a random man on a mountain tells me to run, Imma keep running right on down to the police station.

For a girl that is all I can handle myself amongst this beasts/creatures of the night, she falls too fast for Reid and his stalkery ways. I wanted more independence from her. Also the same with regards to her relationship to her mum.

The plot twist at the end was also a bit out of left field and I'm not sure was necessary but it did add a bit more of suspense and drama to the story other than just them banging each other.

This book was spicyyyyy. I enjoy that dont get me wrong but there was an overwhelming amount!

I do think the book is written well, it was easy to read, but I think it just lacks a bit of depth.

Thank you again for the ARC but I am unsure if I'll consider anything similar at this point!

This book was good, def binged it in a day. 😂 I honestly didn’t know what to expect going in since I went in blind. However, I just went with the flow and this book was not what I expected tbh. I feel like my favorite part of the book was the last 30% as I love action and I don’t mean smut 😂 so I didn’t even realize I was so close to being done!

Easy to read dark romance, with a stalker MMC and an instant lust FMC. If that’s for you? Then this is the book for you, don’t worry, it has plenty of smut for those who enjoy that. 🖤

Our FMC Is a strong, nature photographer. Dove, she meets our mysterious MMC in the woods and has an irresistible attraction to him that changed her life. But months later after their encounter, she meets her mother’s fiancé who so happens to be the same mysterious man from the Woods, Reid!! 😨 Reid is obsessed, stalking her, their desire toxic for one another especially Reid for dove and he wants her to fall for him. Open door heat, very spicy you could feel the tension, lust and attraction seeping off the pages! I absolutely loved this read! Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I freaking LOVED this book. I ate it up, read the entire thing in one sitting because I could not put it down.

Dove is a strong FMC, she is used to being on her own and taking care of herself. Reid is a mystery. One chance meeting changes both of their lives. They don't see each other again for 2 months when she meets him as her mothers Fiancée.

There is angst, mystery, and so much spice. Reid is obsessed with Dove- st@lks her and I loved it.

What do you do if you meet a stranger in the woods of a secluded mountain who tells you to run from them, or you'll be there's? You run and hope to never see them again....right???

This book had me hooked from page 1! To start a book the way Anders did was exactly what I want every time I open a book. You want to scream at Dove for her choices but also want to cheer her on for going after what she wants. And Reid just so happens to be what she wants.
AND THE SPICE🥵
I can't wait to read more from Anders!

I finished this book a couple of days ago, and it’s taken me a minute to decide how I feel about it. Honestly, I’m still not sure.

First of all, the cover is beautiful. I love when the cover doesn’t quite match the overall vibe of the book. Like at first glance at the cover, at the bright colours and beautiful butterflies, you’d never guess that the story is actually dark and suspenseful.

I liked the characters. I liked the writing, though sometimes the dialogue felt awkward. I liked the secrecy on Reid’s part, having to guess why he was really on that mountain and what he was hiding, though when he finally told Dove the truth it was kind of…anti-climactic? Like I was expecting more emotion on her end after finding out what he’s done, but she seemed to like accept it and move on real quick? And the stalker insta-love threw me. I love the stalker trope, there’s always a build up between the two characters, but that was missing here. The instant attraction to/obsession with a stranger in the woods who tells you to run? I mean. I understand this is fictional but oh man, the true crime girlie in me was screaming.

Also, the sudden twist with the neighbour and the childhood friend? Where did that come from? I was so confused! Unless I missed something along the way, I really don’t know where that came from. It felt rushed. Everything felt rushed to me, like having no back story of the characters, like the relationship and experience Dove had with her mother as a child. Things just feel kind of unfinished.

Anyway. Thank you for this ARC. I really wanted to love it.

I have never read anything like this before. It was my first ever stalker romance and I ate it up. Dove is a wildlife photographer who lives alone on a mountain. When she is out hiking one day she meets Reid and the connection is instant but she doesn’t think she will ever see him again. Until she is introduced to her mother’s new fiancé and it is Reid . Reid is obsessed with making her his and begins to stalk her but she loves it. He is keeping a dark secret however and it could make or break their relationship. I could not stop reading this.

Dove is living her dream as a wildlife photographer. She lives at Lamb Creek Mountains where she also takes some wildlife pictures. One night she’s in her little spot where she goes to think and relax. Until she’s about to leave and hear a noise. The noise got closer and closer. Until a man came up to her spot with an excuse that his lost. They talk briefly and he told her his name was Reid. He grabbed her hands and intertwines their fingers. Making her get goosebumps everywhere. He told her to go sit with him and she did, on the same spot she was sitting at. They ask each other questions but when he says that she she’s wet just by being with him. Then he tells her to run, if he catches her she’s his. She made it to her house without him catching her. That was two months ago.
She goes to visit her mother and she didn’t know she was also going to meet fiancé number six. Jill wants Dove to look her best and also make her look good. Dove rather be in lamb creek than being at Dossberry, where her mother always wanted to live at.
Her and her mother really never got alone. Her mom treats her differently and they rarely see each other. Dove wants to meet Mr. Samuel and leave back to her home. But when she see who is Mr. Samuel she couldn’t believe that it was him, it was Reid. They were both surprised. Dove wanted to hurry the meet up and leave. While she was looking for her phone she felt his leg in between hers. She couldn’t take it anymore, the connection between them was still there. She grabbed her phone and told her mom she had to leave. She got so close to her car door when he approached her. They had a disagreement and when he wasn’t expecting it she shut her car down and left. Leaving him mad and his not giving up on her. He told her when they first met that she was his. He finds some information from her mother, without the mother realizing what he was doing. It helped him find where she lives at. Now things will get interesting. I am loving how Dove don’t want nothing to do with him but her body can’t deny who it wants. He has a secret. She’s falling hard for him. Will his secret tear them apart? This book is very interesting and has you hook and wonder what will happen to them. There will be a shocking moment, a little twist in the story. Will they end up together or not? 🌶️🌶️🌶️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Woah! This was a rollercoaster ride of suspense, plot twists and romance if I’ve ever read one!
With a full course meals worth of spice sprinkled throughout! From chapter one Angel Anders will have you on the edge of your seat… and Reid, our MMC will have you both curious and intrigued and feeling just a little unsettled… especially since he’s skulking around alone in the dark. The intrigue outweighs the suspicion though and the banter is impeccable, as well as the instantaneous connection between Reid and Dove is impossible to ignore, but after a few wild moments Reid vanishes without a trace leaving Dove feeling a bit empty but more than ready to move on. Except her absentee mother has called and requested her presence at a dinner to introduce her to her new fiancé… an introduction Dove is more than use to seeing as her mother is on fiancé number seven. What Dove wasn’t prepared for though is for her mother’s new fiancé to be Reid… the man she hasn’t been able to get out of her head since that fateful night in the woods. And wow oh wow if the connection isn’t as world consuming and instantaneous as it was that fateful night. But it’s wrong Reid disappeared without a trace and now he’s engaged to her mother of all people. And if Reid is in love with her mother not only is he way beyond off limits to her but certainly not the man she thought he was or anyone worth her time. Reid on the other hand is bound and determined to never let his “little bird” fly away from him again… no matter what he has to do to keep her. Then a body is discovered on the mountain Doce calls home and this whole soul bound connection could be Dove and Reid’s darkest mistake as much as their guiding light. Midnight Butterflies is a suspenseful romance full of so many twists and turns it’ll keep you up into the wee hours of the morning just trying to figure out what’s going to happen next. That it’s definitely one that should be on all TBRs!

I received Midnight Butterflies as an ARC and if it weren’t for life throwing a lot at me I probably could have read this in just a few short hours. Where do I begin..

Romance - 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️
Yeah it was spicy. And I LOVED it. Though sometimes I’m like dang is there going to be a conflict at some point or are we just here to read about Dove and Reid doing the deed every waking moment lol. It was good, well written. Love the praise kink, the dirty talk, the soft touches, the hard touches, heck, I’m just a sucker for smut what can I say.

Plot - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved the conflict and the resolution. I really do. Angel did a beautiful job at writing everything out where it wasn’t confusing to the reader. The only reason why I decided on a four star is ultimately because I wish we would have gotten more of an explanation of why it was Tom and Nick. It’s just hard to believe that Dove would have three stalkers. Especially one being old man Tom who is married to sweet Abigail. But it wasn’t a terrible third act conflict by any means! Just would have loved more depth to that part of the story other than the fact that they wanted Dove for themselves.

Characters - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I HATED JILL. Like ma’am…the fact that you can sit here and admit that you are a terrible mother but don’t care to change or don’t know how to is just a cop out excuse. Angel did a fantastic job making you despise her lol.

Reid sounded delicious. I need some fanart to see exactly how he should be perceived. He’s sweet, smart, protective, and just yummy sounding.

Dove, I love. There isn’t much more I need to explain. She’s artistic, smart, quick, funny, and to me sounds like your average beautiful woman. Nothing exaggerated like shes some super model status.

Jonas was great honestly. 10/10 love him as a character and would love to see more of him in a second book? Especially if there is a budding romance between Reid’s sister and Jonas.

🕊️ Final thoughts 🕊️
I definitely recommend this book. It’s such an easy read!

This is my first book by the author and it certainly won’t be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed this dark romance novel that drew me in from the first and kept me hooked to the end. The very well written plot is has small town romance, hidden romance, hero obsessed and forbidden love tropes and is filled with suspense, mysteries, drama, danger, romance and steamy love scenes. The characters are endearing and complex. Reid is a possessive alpha hero and Dove is a recluse yet strong heroine who falls for her stalker. The chemistry between them crackles from the start and their forbidden attraction turns into a slightly toxic love with a dramatic happy ending.

On one of her nocturnal excursions on Lamb Creek Mountain, reclusive wildlife photographer Dove Barlowe meets an strange man, Reid, to whom she feels irresistibly attracted. But she returns home, unable to forget him. Months later, her estranged mother wants to introduce her to her new fiancé, Mr Samuels, and Dove suddenly finds herself face to face with Reid. Their chance meeting on the mountain impacted Reid Samuels as well and he couldn't forget Dove either, but needed a cover for his life in Dossberry to solve his imminent problem, so he got engaged to Dove's mum Jill as an alibi. From the moment Reid sees Dove again, he can't stay away from her. He follows her, watches her and visits her at night. But instead of being afraid of Reid and his dark secrets, Dove longs for Reid's closeness, possessiveness and his nightly visits, which lead to twisted games between them...

If you love a dark love story with twists, mystery, possessive morally gray heroes, submissive heroines and plenty of spice that keeps your heart racing, this book is for you.

My thanks to Grey‘s Promotions and Angel Anders! I received a free ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.

"I'll be anything for you. Without you in my sight, I'm lost in darkness. You are the light to my darkness. Darkness will always find its light."

This is my first time reading Angel Anders and I have to give it to her, she knows how to write a story to keep the reader reading. From the very beginning it is obvious mystery surrounds Reid and I am one of those readers that has to find out what the mystery is.

Reid and Dove were a tad different of a read for me but all in all I thoroughly enjoyed them. I had to refresh my mind on what the story was about so I read the blurb. I was a bit worried how the whole "he is engaged to her mom" part of the story was going to go so I will just say keep an open mind and trust the author's writing process.

I love these two together. It is clear how meant to be they are. Dove has never really had someone who truly loves her in her life but Reid is set on proving to her how worthy of love she is. The chance meeting between the two of them had me addicted immediately. As the story went on I started to have my theories on all things surrounding Reid and I was so thankful to be on the right track with my thinking. Ms. Anders does throw in a couple plot twists of which one I was definitely suspicious of and the other I didn't see coming at all.

This story has plenty of romantic suspense, mystery, and two main characters that you will be rooting for the entire time. Their connection is deep and their chance meeting is the best thing that could have happened to the two of them. I very much look forward to checking out more of Angel's books.

ANGEL ANDERS. You truly have done it again! I'll never be able to understand how in the world you are able to get me so hooked and thinking about a book for literally weeks on end.. This was my first Romantic Suspense Novel and I am HOOKED so please Angel.. write me more! haha.

From the first chapter, I literally could not stop thinking about Reid and Dove. I could not stop wanting to read it and I've talked everyones ear off that I could about it. I could've finished it literally within a day but life was getting in the way that I couldn't do that.. LOL.

I don't even think I can talk about the individual characters like I normally do because I loved them both so stinking much. I do this with every single FMC but with Dove.. I felt like I was really her. I felt literally every single emotion that she was feeling AND THAT TWIST!!! I literally had my jaw dropping in the middle of a basketball game hahaha.

Reid Reid Reid Reid. Mister Reid. I have no words for you. I need all the art so I can see how literally perfect you are. (I will fight anyone on this because he was captured my heart truly).

Overall: 4.5/5
Spice: 3.5/5

Midnight Butterflies by Angel Anders | 3.5⭐️ 3🌶️

A forbidden romance with a side of suspense? Say less.

The setup had me invested immediately — Dove, a wildlife photographer living in the mountains, has a fleeting encounter with a stranger… only to later find out he’s engaged to her mother. The tension between these two was off the charts. Reid is intense, obsessed, and keeping some dark secrets, while Dove is just trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

I loved the stalker aspect (even if it wasn’t the most realistic, but that’s why we read fiction, right?). The setting was also a total vibe — I could picture Dove’s little mountain house in the woods, and despite all the chaos happening around her, I still kinda want one.

That said, I wish we had more backstory on Reid, plus a better look at the twist at the end. There’s a character involved that was only Introduced once in the book and I was left feeling like I needed more info on why they were involved. Also, Dove could’ve pushed harder to get the truth out of Reid instead of waiting for the pieces to fall into place. And the ending? A little too rushed for my liking — I wanted more time to sit in the fallout and actually get some
answers.

Overall, Midnight Butterflies delivers a good premise, lots of tension, and messy drama. It’s a fast-paced, short read that keeps you turning the pages, even if it leaves you with some questions.

Thank you Grey’s Promotion for sending me this advanced reader copy!

To be honest with you, I picked up this book without even reading the blurb. I fell in love with its title and after I started reading it, I totally got caught in the story completely.

This is a page turner and hard to put down, kind of book. I loved everything about it from the story line to how everything is outlined.

The story however,is simple, but full of twists and surprises. The characters are very well developed, they are strong willed and determined.

Our female heroine of the story is Dove, a young nature photgrapher, who’s settled up in the mountains. Though her life is an easy one, doing what she loves most in the world, everything is about to change in her life, after she encounters a stranger, while out capturing the best photographs of the wildlife at night.

We will get to see many sides of her in the book. From the innocent young woman, to the passionate and also the brave and determined one. At some point her life will turn 180 so badly that she has no idea what is going on in her life anymore. But she is a total bad a$$ girl and will overcome anything life throws at her.

Reid Pierce is the mysterious stranger/stalker that will do anything in the world to have Dove. He has that, touch her and you die vibe. Findimg himslef in a very odd position once he lays eyes on Dove. He has a stack of dark secrets surroundimg him, but with time, his addiction to her, will make him come clean

From stalker, he eventually, turns to lover. But darker things will come for his love.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I don't even know where to begin in writing this. I think I'm still reeling from the last 50 pages.

I was absolutely enthralled from the very first chapter. I guess that says a lot about me that men with red flags the size of a Costco warehouse intrigue me so much that I stayed up way past my bed time to finish this.

Most of the book I was like .... "girl you deserve better don't let him keep secrets but I get why you keep coming back." That was only because you didn't know what his secret was...and he was engaged to her mother. With that being said after finishing it I get it. You need the tension... The will they won't they... The taboo of how they reconnected to fully understand that he would in fact burn the world down for her.

The. Plot. Twist. I can't and won't say more.

If you want a quick, dark, romantic suspense book I cannot recommend this book enough.

I was sincerely unprepared for how obsessed I would become with this book! Something I noticed throughout is that Angel Anders does an excellent job connecting her titles meaningfully to the content of her work...something I know seems like a given, but I feel like she does it expertly well!

Let's dive into the characters!
REID- heart be still, but this man can do no wrong in my eyes...or can he? (Hehehe, you'll have to read the book to find that out.) My favorite quote about this enigmatic MMC is "This man is hauntingly gorgeous." *sigh*
Dove- I absolutely adore this FMC! She is strong yet understandably vulnerable due to circumstances far beyond her control. I also appreciated the dynamics between her and her mother and how that wove together into the story. I found myself relating to her and rooting for her as the story progressed.

Another aspect of Midnight Butterflies that I appreciated was the tension of the underlying mysteries that kept the reader wondering and engaged. I love it when the author keeps you wondering all the way into the very last chapter, and this one definitely did! I thought the spice was superb and the dialogue and banter was so endearing. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is already a fan of stalker romance, but please read the trigger warnings if you aren't sure that genre is for you.

I am once again so thankful for this ARC opportunity from Angel Anders and look forward to reading more from her asap!
