Not everyone gets a home run on their first hit.

Audrey’s relationship is crumbling before her eyes, and seeing Noah for the first time in years leaves her questioning everything. As she grieves what could’ve been, she faces the reality that the last few years have all been a lie and she has completely lost herself along the way.

Noah has few regrets in life, but not telling Audrey how he felt before leaving for college is at the top of the list. He could win the World Series a hundred times and it would never measure up to the feeling she gave him.

Gives him.

When Audrey drops everything to join Noah and her brother for the baseball season, it’s difficult for the two of them to hide their feelings. It’s impossible to deny that they never stopped loving each other. As she looks to discover who she is and what she wants, will Audrey find room in her new life for an old love?

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this one. I absolutely loved Caitlin's The Foundation series. I was lucky enough to ARC read the last 3 books, but this one didn't quite hit the mark; it was missing something.

You Used to Love Me by Caitlin Klassen is a heartwarming, second-chance romance. The story follows Audrey, who is stuck in a toxic relationship, just going through the motions, while Noah, a successful professional baseball player, has carried the regret of not confessing his feelings for her years ago. After ending her unhealthy relationship, Audrey reconnects with Noah and her brother, joining them for the baseball season. As expected, sparks fly, and they quickly fall back in love.

This was a super quick, sweet read, with a romance that felt light and comforting. And when I say quick, I mean I read this in 2.5 hours. While the beginning is heavy, tackling difficult subjects like gaslighting, cheating, and abuse, it swiftly turns into a feel-good second-chance romance. I really loved the romance vibes and the smut—there’s no denying the chemistry between the MCs. The chemistry between Noah and Audrey is *chefs kiss*, and their rekindled connection is swoon-worthy. It definitely has an insta-love vibe, but it makes sense given that they had been in love with each other all along and knew it before they went off to separate colleges. In a way, they just picked up right where they left off.

I enjoyed the flashbacks, seeing how they felt about each other from childhood to high school and leaving for college, but I do wish we had more of that kind of emotional progression in the present day as well. While there’s some exploration of Audrey and Noah’s past and those lingering unresolved feelings, I found myself wanting more meaningful, present-day moments between them that showed how their relationship was growing now, not just what it used to be.

I also wish there were moments when I hoped for more conflict, but the book was mostly sweet and low-drama throughout. At times, it did feel a little cringy, and don't even get me started when the 4th wall was broken... and I quote:

"Do you think this is the part where the credits would roll if we were a movie? Like ‘The End’?"

"Nah, this is still the first half of the movie, the fans would want a fifty-part movie about our life. Beginning to end."

This completely took me out of the world, honestly, I even considered DNFing right there and then, but with only 20 pages left, I ended up finishing.

I also want to talk about the Kristen situation. It felt forced, like it was added to for some conflict, but it could have been executed a bit better. I thought Audrey was a little toooo nice to Kristen, the woman who was flirting with her boyfriend, the woman who was bragging about spending time with him even though it didn't happen. Honestly, I would have bitch slapped her, and been so much meaner, if I was in her shoes! The resolution came so fast that it felt slightly unrealistic, almost too convenient? But still, Audrey handled it in a mature, adult way, which was impressive.

Overall, I had mixed feelings, but despite all the shortcomings, vibes were there!! I loved their chemistry, had some sweet moments. If you're looking for a feel-good,  super sweet romance with a happy ending, this is perfect!

“Go ahead. also, Selena, on Noah’s behalf … never, ever call my sister that in front of him. That nickname belongs to the two of them.”

❤️❤️❤️

Audrey leaves a toxic 7 year relationship, and sets out to find herself again.
She takes some time to be with her brother and her brothers (and hers) best friend since she was 3, Noah.

We’ve found another perfect man, and just so happens to be a fellow Noah ( if you’ve read say you swear by Meagan Brandy you know) .

His relationship with his best friend Conner is true friendship, loved every second of it.
The banter in the book 👌
The lifelong friendship and connection between Audrey and Noah 😍

•Best friends little sister
•childhood friends to lovers

I cannot wait for Conners story in book 2!

4 ⭐️ 1.5 🌶️

I have loved all of Caitlin’s books, and this one is no different! This was such an easy, quick, sweet romance! Very low drama, just a second chance at love with the brother’s best friend.

Noah and Audrey have known each other since they were 6 and 5 respectively. They’ve loved each other their whole lives, but never admitted their feelings. Life moves on and they’re in different states until they find themselves back in the same city again, and therefore, voila, a second chance at love.

If you’re in the mood for a sugar filled short sports romance, I definitely recommend checking out You Used to Love Me! And if you need any small-town country romances, I highly suggest checking out Caitlin’s Foundation series too!

"You used to love me, too. Didn't you?" "Yeah, Auddie, very much."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Caitlin Klassen does it again with the wholesome romance that makes me swoon, kick my feet, and giggle in the most ridiculous way.

I absolutely adored Audrey and Noah's story; watching it unfold, both in flashbacks and in the present day.
This book was absolutely perfect and so, so sweet.

If you want a low drama, non-anxiety inducing, wholesome, heartwarming read, then this is the one for you.
It's such a nice breath of fresh air to just be able to see a romance (re)blossom and grow alongside the characters.

An awesome beginning to the series, and I can't wait for the rest!

✨ ARC Review ✨

Thank you so much to Caitlin Klassen for the ARC 💖 It is a joy to read ALL your books! You are the QUEEN of found family and no 3rd act breakup, thanks for spoiling us with these amazing stories!

You Used to Love Me, got under my skin, in the best way of course. It is a gentle story, an emotional story full of the kind of love that feels safe and real.

Audrey's story, is about finding herself after being in a relationship that slowly took pieces of her, this story is written with so much care. Noah? What can I say, he is patient, soft, and steady in all the ways that matter. The way he gives Audrey time, space and respect, ufff made me teary more than once.

This is the kind of second chance romance that doesn't rely on drama. It is two people with history, with quiet feelings that never really went away, figuring out how to love each other again, but this time, fully.

This book made me feel so much and I am thankful for it.

Perfect for readers who love:
⚾️ Childhood friends to lovers
💞 Brother’s best friend
⚾️ Slow burn, low conflict
💞 Golden retriever energy
⚾️ Sports romance
💞 Healing & soft moments

P.S: Connor needs his own book, OMG! PLEEEEASE! ✨

Reading is subjective. All thoughts are my own.

What a beautiful love story! My first time reading a Caitlin Klassen book did not disappoint.

This story follows Audrey & Noah; childhood best friends who missed out on their shot at love, but who find their way back to each other after an extended time away, and a an abusive relationship (we all hate Paul!). As they fall in love all over again, with support from Audrey’s brother Conner (swoon, can’t wait for his book!), and friends Selena & Fiona, Audrey really finds herself again as a woman and learns to truly value her friends and family. Noah is just what I’d call a “walking green flag.” He’s so put together, and treats Audrey like a true queen.

I’m not one to pick up a sports romance as my first pick, but the sports element was subtle enough that the story wasn’t about baseball, but about how Noah & Audrey fell in love all over again.

Noah and Audrey swept me off my feet with their beautiful love story. I knew early on that I wouldn’t be able to put this book down.

These two were best friends since childhood and have silently loved each other for so long. Unfortunately, circumstances made them not act on it and brought plenty of heartache for both of them. My heart broke for Audrey in the beginning. Seeing her find her way back to herself and eventually, Noah was beautiful. And let’s talk about sweet Noah. This man was everything. He was sweet, caring and thoughtful. I’ll take no criticism over him.

I loved seeing all the flashbacks between these two. They truly are the definition of “it’s always been you”.

I have to say that Caitlin Klassen is one of my favourite discoveries of 2025. I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series with Don’t Forget To Love Me.

I could not put this book down.
I am not one to typically jump to read a sports romance, but once I started this - I couldn’t put it down until I was down. Caitlin Klassen hit me with an unexpected 1-sitting read.

I loved watching the life of Audrey & Noah unfold. Learning their backstory, touching on the bad and everything that brings them to where they are.

I appreciated that this touched on some really tough, real-life scenarios without making it the grand focus, and still having it feel like such a sweet, feel-good romance.

I will 100% be running to read the rest of this series as it releases. I am impressed, and this may have convinced me to give more contemporary sports romances a try.

This is the sweetest book ever. Noah, the man that you are!
Noah and Audery have always loved each other but never made their feelings known to one another.
For years, they kept it from eavhbother even though everyoneelse around them figured it out.. While Noah left for college, Audery found herself in a long-term relationship with the most appalling man, which actually led to Noah and Aduery finding their way to back to each other.
Conner, who is Audery's brother and best friend to Noah, couldn't have been a better side character and addition to this story.

it's sweet, cute and made my heart completely full seeing Audery and Noah finally have the life they both dreamed of🤍.

Thank you Caitlin Klassen for this ARC 💕

I read this in one sitting. Not because it was particularly short, but because it was particularly good. I'm not a sports romance reader, so I was hesitant to read this. I knew if anyone could make me enjoy a sports romance, it would be Caitlin. I was right.

I will always trust her for my contemporary romance needs. Why? Because Caitlin avoids the third act break-up. Her characters talk to each other rather than assume things about each other and run away. The best author for contemporary romance!

This was such a cute story featuring:
brothers best friend
forced proximity
second chance
baseball

It was cute, but I feel like there was a lot of opportunity to add more to the book to grow the characters and show how they've over come challenges (especially for Audrey and her breakup with Paul) and to show more about the relationship growth of Audrey and Noah, as adults.

If you're looking for a quick cute love story this is perfect.

3.5⭐ for You Used to Love Me by Caitlin Klassen

This was a cute story, and I enjoyed it but it didn't quite hit for me; it was a bit too sweet for my tastes, especially when dealing with such difficult topics (narcissism, abusive relationship, abandonment). I felt like these topics weren't adressed in depth, and I wanted more.

Noah and Audrey were adorable together, but my problem was that there was no real reason they weren't together?! The story has all the makings of a childhood friends to lovers, brother's best friend romance, but there's no actual reason why they aren't together, except that neither of them spoke up about their feelings even though they both knew?!

Very sweet, very cute, with low conflict and no third-act breakup, this was a quick read and I can see the appeal for some but I needed more from the story personally.

Thank you to Caitlin Klassen for a copy in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

I would describe this book as a soft sweet romance that would be good to read as a pallet cleanser or to get out of a reading slump. There is some harder aspects such as gaslighting, emotional and physical tension that may be triggering to some. But overall a feel good romance.

You Used to Love Me by Caitlin Klassen is a second chance, friends to lovers, oh so sweet baseball romance.

Audrey is stuck in an unhealthy relationship, just going through the motions of life. Noah is a successful professional baseball player who has always regretted not telling Audrey how much he loved her before leaving for college years ago. After ending her relationship and reconnecting with Noah and her brother, Audrey joins them for the baseball season. They quickly fall back in love. This was a quick read with not much depth. The story is definitely sad to start with some pretty heavy content (trigger warning for spousal gaslighting, cheating, and abuse), but quickly turns into a second chance romance. I did enjoy the read, but it just did not go very deep, I wanted to get to know the characters more and have them work through their emotions, history, and feelings together. Overall, it just felt too much like a fairy tale and make believe.

Thank you to Netgalley, Victory Editing, and the author for this e-ARC.

Paul is the worst!!! I enjoyed all the other characters in this story, I love a bromance for sure. Noah and Audrey were sweet and I was definitely rooting for them but something felt a little off or immature for me. Some of the discussions characters had felt like run ons and I didn't get the emotional connection. However still a fan of Caitlins writing and I look forward to the rest of the series.

This was a super cute, low drama book.

Its brother's best friend, professional baseball player, second chance.

Audrey and Noah are the MCs. They've loved each other their whole lives but never admitted it. I loved Noah so much, he was so confident in their relationship.

I loved all of the side characters as well so I can't wait for Conner (her brothers book) next!

This brother's best friend, second chance novel was amazing. Yes it was a slow burn but it was needed. Audrey needed time and space to find herself. I don’t think she needed time to be sure if Noah is who she wanted, because these two were end game before they were ever together. But she went through a lot with “he who shall not be named”. IYKYK. I’m not giving him any time in my review hahaha. Yes I’m a brat. I loved how Noah was with his Auddie Girl. He made sure she knew from the beginning, it was on her time and on her terms. He wasn’t gonna rush her at all.

I love how Caitlin wrote the big brother dealing with the best friend dating the little sister. I think Connor knew about their feelings before each of them knew and the way he was rooting for them to be together, was awesome. Big brother was rooting for them hard.

Noah and Audrey’s story felt like a sequel to A Walk to Remember. What we didn’t get with Jamie and Landon, we definitely got with Audrey and Noah. He was everything. Romantic, attentive, caring, and so full of love. The little details he kept of his life with her had my heart smiling.

Noah Benson. Wow! Is there a way to clone this man and make him real? Noah is honestly one of the top book boyfriends for me. I loved this book. The side characters were great and added so much to the story. Connor was an amazing big brother who supported his sister and his best friend unconditionally. Selena was a great work bestie for Audrey. I also enjoyed the dual timeline. I thought the flashbacks were such a great part of the story because we got to see where the friendship began. We also got to see some key moments in both Connor and Audrey’s relationship with Noah.

Caitlin will always be one of my go to reads. Everything I have read from her never disappoints. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

if you're looking for a low-drama, feel good book, look no further. This book is it. Idk what Caitlin was writing with that day, but I'm going to need her to go back, do the same thing, and hand me book number 2 because I loved everything about Noah and Audrey.

To preface, the beginning was a bit hard to read. Audrey didn't deserve any of the treatment she was getting and, honestly, screw Paul. I wanted to scream for Audrey because she lost out on so many years over a guy that truly didn't deserve any time wasted on him. And, realizing that she's dealt with a horrible bf for so long, you couldn't deny the chemistry that was still there when Noah and Audrey finally reconnected.

So, Noah. Oh man, oh man, oh MAN. While I do love me a morally grey man, I will always be down on my knees for a golden retriever boy who is obsessed with the girl for so long and that is probably the best way to describe Noah. He was perfect in all the right ways, patient, and just wanted to be there for Audrey in any capacity he could have her.

And, Audrey?? I love how her whole demeanor changes around Noah. From the constant doubts and worries in her prior relationship, I love how carefree you get to witness Audrey be and finally feel comfortable with being herself again. With that, her confidence also shined as she got to be with Noah.

What I think really makes this book though was the relationship all three, Audrey, Connor, and Noah, had. I think it's not often you see a "happy" or at first a "supportive" relationship from the brother towards his sister dating his best friend or even giving his best friend the blessing of being with his sister. But, the way Connor was so supportive of their relationship just adds to how much of a feel good book this was to read.

I read this book so quickly because it was just so hard to put down, and I can't wait to read book two when it comes out.

Thank you to the author and publisher for this eARC! I love sharing my thoughts with others and if you read this book, I hope to read your thoughts as well!

You Used to Love Me by Caitlin Klassen | 4⭐️ 2🌶️

Ok ok, so was I sad when The Foundation Series ended? Yes. Did Caitlin Klassen repair my heart with the start of this new series? Also yes.

You Used to Love Me is a slow burn, second-chance, baseball romance with a fun take on the brother’s best friend trope!

Let’s just start with the way I adore how Caitlin writes her characters. She is the queen of inner monologues, and Audrey’s voice absolutely did not disappoint. You can really feel everything she’s going through — grief, confusion, healing, and that spark of rediscovering herself after years of losing her identity in a toxic relationship. It’s clear she was a victim of emotional abuse, and watching her work through that trauma with the support of her amazing brother (Connor), their best friend (Noah), and her ride-or-die friends was both heartbreaking and empowering.

And Noah? NOAH!! He is everything. He’s been in love with Audrey since forever, and even though years (and a whole baseball career) have passed, that love never left. He respects Audrey’s healing process so deeply by letting her experience everything as if it was for the first time — which it basically was because her ex is literal trash (f**k Paul). My heart exploded with how patient and tender he was with Audrey.

A fun aspect of this book is the flashbacks! Watching these two grow up together added to much to their story and made their eventual reconnection feel so earned and satisfying. Also, the baseball elements were super fun to read, I’ve never read a baseball sports romance before and now I need to read more.

There’s also some great representation in this book, which I really appreciated. And now I’m counting down the days until we get Connor and Skylar’s story — because if anyone deserves a happily ever after, it’s Cupid Connor!

If you like an easy to read, impactful romance that has humor, fun side characters and the ultimate golden retriever man, read this asap!

This was such a beautiful story and a lovely read! It was filled with so many sweet & heartwarming moments and was like a little bit of sunshine.

Audrey and Noah grew up in the same town and spent nearly every minute of their childhood together as she tagged along with him and her brother (his best friend). They have not been in each other's lives for seven years.

Audrey is working in data entry, living with her long-term boyfriend and going through the motions of life. Noah is a pro baseball player who is living his professional dream but not his personal one.

They reunite after seven years when he and her brother are in town to celebrate him signing with her brother's team. There are sparks. Big ones.

Things take a turn with Audrey's boyfriend that result in her brother coming to move her out and get her safe. She eventually makes the choice to stay with her brother for the season and she & Noah grow close again. It is swoony and delightful!

I loved the way the past story was woven in with the current story. Audrey and Noah are lovely characters who made me care about them just by being their sweet, relateable and honest selves. Loved watching them find their way back to each other.

Also, Paul is trash and I wish him no good things. Connor is a hero and the best big brother to ever brother. His friendship with Audrey's BFF? Love!!

My brain really enjoys Caitlin's writing style and I love knowing I can count on the story to be low angst and happy because some days you really just need that comfort.

There is on page DV (FMC's ex, not MMC), so please make sure to take care of yourself and your health when deciding when/if to read.

I received this as an ARC and am so thankful. My review is based exclusively on my thoughts and feelings of the story.

Highly recommend!!

4.5 ⭐️s!!

Caitlin has done it yet again with the first book in her new Take Me Out series, You Used To Love Me. I’m always pulled in from the very first page and I can’t stop until I’m done (quite literally- I read this book in one sitting early this morning).
I’m a such a sucker for a childhood friends to lover story, and this one did NOT disappoint! Audrey has had a perpetual crush on her brother’s best friend Noah for pretty much as long as she can remember. Even though Noah was Conner’s best friend, he never once made Audrey feel like the third wheel. In fact, he always made her feel special and seen. That’s why Audrey fell for him, and fell hard. Which is why when he left for college she was completely heartbroken. Audrey tried her hardest to move on, and fell into a seven year toxic relationship with Paul. (I’m interested in starting an I-hate-Paul club, whoever wants in let me know!)
Connor and Noah come to visit Audrey and share some good news with her. After seven years apart, Noah and Audrey realize the spark and deep feelings are DEFINITELY still there. But can Audrey open up to Noah and trust him again? Will Connor approve of a relationship between his two favorite people? Will their second chance be a home run? I highly suggest reading this to find out for yourself!
I absolutely loved the way there were flashbacks and memories placed throughout the book, they emphasized the true feelings and deep roots the relationships between the characters had. This book was also packed full with pop culture references from the early 2000s, which made me love it that much more! I cannot wait for the next book in this series!

This book gave me all the feels — I absolutely loved reading it. And the fact that the book cover is actually referenced in the story? Genius!

First of all, it was so refreshing to read a brother’s best friend romance where the brother isn’t unsupportive, but actually REALLY supportive in helping his best friend date his little sister. Connor was the ultimate sweetheart — honest, encouraging, and constantly helping his sister and best friend get time alone together. His friendship with Audrey’s “work wife” Selena was pure gold; those two were like chaotic besties in the best way possible.

Now, Paul… where do I even begin? Massive. Asshole. Seven years of manipulation and cruelty — and that picture? Nope. He’s the absolute worst. I was practically cheering when Audrey finally kicked him to the curb (and when Connor stepped in and beat him up— perfection).

Audrey, though. She’s the kind of woman I aspire to be. Strong, brave, and willing to rebuild her life after heartbreak. I loved how she rediscovered her passion and started her own business — it was such a beautiful full-circle moment for her.

And Noah? A walking green flag. His patience, his communication, his respect for Audrey’s healing — everything about him was perfect. The way he supported her without rushing her made me love him even more. Their flashbacks were adorable too — I was giggling and kicking my feet the whole time!

Overall, You Used to Love Me was a beautiful, heartfelt, and emotionally satisfying read that reminded me why I love this trope so much. It’s full of healing, second chances, and the kind of love that feels like coming home.

Audrey and Noah have been best friends since they were young. Audrey’s brother was the one that introduced them, and the three were always together. Noah and Audrey have always loved each other, but neither have admitted it to the other. Until Noah and Audrey’s brother moves away for college, when Audrey tries to tell Noah how she feels but he tells her to find someone else.

Audrey meets Paul after her brother and Noah leave, and Paul turns out to be an extremely toxic person, and these two date for years. Audrey finds out he’s been cheating on her for most of their 7 year relationship. As she tries to exit the relationship, Paul shows his true colors, and Audrey’s brother and coworkers come running to help her escape. Noah and Audrey’s brother now play for the same team in the major leagues, so Audrey decides to go to one of their games, since she hasn’t been to one in years. Noah takes his shot (finally) to be with Audrey, but he wants her to know that it’s on her time, and it’s when she is ready.

Caitlin Klassen has a way of writing that pulls me in from the start, and these two, I loved them SO MUCH. Noah was so very patient with Audrey, and even though it seemed as if their relationship was moving too fast, since they have known each other forever, it felt like they were picking up where they left off.

This was a super quick read, I read it in an evening, and the perfect palette cleanser! Paul is a jerk, and I am on Team We Hate Paul forever. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series!

As always, thank you Caitlin for the ARC opportunity!
