KH LeMoyne is dedicated to bringing exciting books to her readers that blend paranormal romance with thriller suspense action. She believes romance fiction should be as fun to read as it is for her to write and specializes in characters who fight for love against insurmountable odds.
His mate: cordite, steel, and ink, a complex mixture of the cop and scholar. Every facet of her personality appealed to him. Rear view, front view, strength, tenderness—and he could spend days wrapping himself in her hair, silvery-white strands of silk that would tease his skin.
His kids didn’t cleanse away the nightmares, but they absorbed his thoughts and built hopes as caring for and nurturing his children claimed his life. The past receded with their active lives, but what you cherished enough to live for had the potential to destroy you with its loss.
I enjoyed this one. It has tones of a romantic suspense with a shifter thrown in. I don’t remember the last time I read one like this. And the shifter storyline had more diverse animals than just wolves or bears. I really liked that.
Chisholm was a strong silent type, I do love me a deep thinker. He was a very patient and caring shifter. Not your average alpha possesive a-hole. He had a family and you could see how much he cared for them. He was a bit closed off because of his past but not so much so that I didn’t get a good feel for his character. He didn’t push too hard with his desire for Dani. And I liked how he put his children before his own happiness, especially when he met Dani and recognized her as his mate.
Dani was a straight up hardass. She had a few traits that made her unique in the human world but left her sorely unprepared when it came to the shifter world. I liked her pride and her ability to not let her emotions run her life. She had a level head and was wary of jumping in feet first. A planner after my own heart. And even though she was human, she had an uncanny ability to understand where the shifters were coming from and their need for secrecy.
I will be reading more in this series, the side characters were a bit vague but I want to go deeper into this world.
I thought this book was exceptional. It was an excellent introduction the series as well as Black Haven territory and its alpha, Deacon. I adored the story line of this book. I really enjoyed how Dani and Chisholm came to meet. Dani's almost instant connection with Maggie and their relationship throughout the rest of the book is sweet and touching. The manner in which Dani became so important to the Barduc family was great. Chisholm is flummoxed by how Dani and his children have seemed to just click while he is having so much trouble getting close to her. In general, I loved the dynamics between the characters. They were all so well fleshed-out and engaging. After seeing the kind of alpha Deacon is and the dedication and protection he gives to those who have pledged to him has me itching to read his story in Missing! Add in Fright Night, a snippet of Deacon's past, as a bonus at the end of this book and I am ready to jump right in as soon as possible! Overall, this was an excellent book. It had me hooked from the beginning and kept me engaged throughout. This is a HEA story with no cliffhanger.
This shifter romance is a mesmerizing and intriguing read with some refreshingly different elements. The author has created a fascinating world of shifters with lots of bewitching characters that have the reader wanting to know more. I was completely engrossed in the story from the very beginning and enjoyed the novelette as well and I can’t wait to read the Deacon’s book.
a shifter family in witsec.....but there's trouble and they're at risk from the mob. rescued by a very lovely female deputy who happens to be daddy shifters mate! complicated, heartstopping, tender, dangerous.
This was a fun book to read, it have a little bit of everything from humans, shifters wolves bears cats etc., mobsters police chases Shoot outs, it’s more of a love story and the shifter knowing immediately they met their mate and having to convince their mate they belong together it ends very happily and I can’t wait for the next book
Shifter family hunted by the mob, flees to a hidden shifter hideout under the control of a powerful alpha.
When witness protection fails yet again to protect them from the mob members out to kill them all, it's time to call on the protection of the alpha who saved his life decades ago. When his mate shows up, a human policewoman, complications abound.
Never having read this author before, I didn't know what to expect. I'm astounded. I could not put this book down. The story grabbed hold and refused to let go til the last word was read . A great read!
This reminded me a bit of Jennifer Ashley's Shifter Unbound Series. I was actually reading White Tiger at the same time. :) The characters were strong and the beginning hooked me quickly. I did feel though that a storyline wasn't fully closed but perhaps it will continue in the next book.
Loved it. Great characters, complex situations with lots of layers. Shifter, crime drama, romance, coming of age, humans meet shifters, just a lot going on. Great story.
An easy and enjoyable read. Loved the little kiddos to death. A loving father just trying to protect his children and a detective just doing her thing.
A short but excellent and worthwhile read. Not a romance, but an action novel. Highly recommend this prequel. A new favorite author of the paranormal genre
First, I have to admit I love shifter books. Second, I rarely give five star reviews...they aren't going to be Pulitzer Prize winners. However, when I read one that keeps me riveted from start to finish and hungry for the next book in the series...then it gets five stars. This book introduces the Alpha for a HUGE territory...Deacon Black. He is a good man and a powerful wolf. His struggle is inside - should he go back to his clan and become the Alpha...or keep wandering without much purpose?? Well worth reading to see how and why he chooses the way he does.
More than just about Deacon, this book is about a lion shifter who is under Federal protection after his son witnessed the murder of his mother and her boyfriend - a mobster. When the girl is almost hurt by a couple of college aged boys, a detective who specializes in helping young folks takes her case...and finds her heart on the line as well as possibly her life - with mobster hitmen trying to take out the family. Here is where Deacon shows up to offer protection and a safe home to the lion and his family...what about the detective, though??
This is a standalone full length prequel to the Shifters Unlimited series. And it's wonderful! The characters are the most likable of any I've read, the storyline is well developed and I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to begin book one. Set in McClean County North Dakota, the book begins with Detective DB Dani Leggett responding to a call out on a scene with two college aged boys and two drugged underaged girls. Parents come for the older girl and Dani tends to Maggie, the younger one, then takes her home. There Dani meets Maggie's widower father, Chisolm Barduc, and it's revealed that Maggie shifted for the first time in Dani's presence. Chisholm, a lion shifter, asks for discretion and in the course of the investigation Dani learns why the family is so private. They are in WitSec and if their identity comes out they will be in danger and moved, again. That's something Chisolm would like to delay while he gets to know Dani, his reluctant human mate, and he puts in motion a plan to arrange new pack protection for his family. Which brings in Deacon Black, wolf shifter alpha featured in book one, Missing. A KU library read.
I thoroughly enjoyed the prequel to book 1 "Missing" in the "Shifters Unlimited" series and the background about "Missing" and it's main focus "Deacon". I am glad I found these thru Kindle Unlimited because it allowed me 2 things: 1: An introduction to K.H. LoMoyne's style of writing and 2: A look at how she follows a plot line. I have not read books by LeMoyne so I get to decide if I want to start the series. My answer to that all important question is a resounding yes. My hope, that LeMoyne will not fall into erotica to write the books. I am not a reader that wants explicit sex described page after page regardless of plot.
My only problem with anything was editing. I can't stand it when I am interrupted to note a simple edit overlook.
I definitely recommend reading these two small peeks into "Shifters Unlimited" by Author K.H. LeMoyne. I wish I had this same opportunity to glimpse a writer's style prior to getting into a full on novel in a series. I wouldn't have wasted money on porn that is so popular these days with, loosely termed, authors.
Chisholm has done everything in his power to take care of his family, even going into WITSEC to keep his children safe seems like it's not working though. He finally gives in and calls in backup from an alpha that wants him to pledge to him. Maggie gets into a bit of trouble and Dani brings her home to explain and get a statement. She never expected to have feelings for her father, but being the detective on the case with Maggie she can't follow her feelings. As things progress between them and the case is dropped, he tells her she's his mate and she wants to deny it, but can feel the truth of it. Each of them trying to protect the other, they separate and he prays she will come to him. She gets things with her job squared away and finally makes her decision whether to keep her job and stay in the town where she's alone or go to him and what she's now considering her kids. Easy choice. Very sweet story, just the right amount of explanations without becoming boring, and characters are amazing. Loved it and recommend for everyone, even those who don't normally read paranormal.
A very complex and intricate story with good characters, surprising as I disliked the prequel. Very interesting idea of having a shifter family, dad and four children, in witness protection. The family are hiding and at risk from the mob. The teenage daughter gets into trouble and is helped and bought home by the police. Enter Detective Dani Leggert, with secrets of her own, who is then drawn to the father. Dani is one put together woman and I really liked her. The way she handles the situation with Maggie just made me her fan straight off the bat but then what she does for Cabot was a clincher. Super heroine. Not quite sure how I feel about our hero Chisholm. I know he loves those children with everything in him but can’t make up my mind if he is really a super great person for taking on the children, or just a big sap with no self-respect who did nothing while his wife played around and got pregnant by other men. In fact it is not really clarified if the youngest three are his or not.
Deacon the rogue alpha male left his clan because his father’s ways were too brutal for him. If he ever becomes an alpha of his own clan things will be different but he will never be able to become a true alpha until his fathers ways are taken down. Dani a special officer for juveniles in a four county area of rural towns and the like. Dani is very intelligent and gifted. She liked dealing with kids because she could read them easily but she never knew there were things out there that would make her skin crawl and possibly take her securities from her. For deacon, protecting his family came first. For Dani her job came first, it was all about protecting the kids. When Dani meets Deacon for the first time because his daughter has a secret that Dani promised not to disclose to anyone Deacon is the one that is visibly upset by Dani’s knowledge of any of it.
Dani is a detective called in for a case of kidnapping, date rape drugging and attempted rape of 2 teenage girls. Maggie, one of the victims shifts into a leopard in front of Dani. Dani is shocked but handles it extremely well. She drives Maggie home and meets Maggie's father Chisholm. Sparks fly and Chisholm knows that the human Dani is his mate. Chisholm is a lone lion in hiding. One of his sons witnessed a crime and they were put in the witness protection program. Chisholm doesn't want to press charge since it might triggers unwanted attention. He doesn't want to leave Dani but Dani has a lot to learn and adjust to before she becomes a shifter's mate. This was a good story. Dani is special in how she accepted all the weird things she learned and she even had a surprise herself. Chisholm was a good dad and protective. It was fun watching two worlds meet.
I received Hidden, Shifters Unlimited Prequel as a review copy through Reading Deals. The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. A delightful surprise! A wonderfully layered, detailed plot with well-drawn characters and perfect pacing. I enjoyed the strength and honor in the characters-- conflict and resolutions not dependent on characters' hidden agendas brought a refreshing change from the usual angle of many books these days. I'd already read Missing by this author, and I believe I enjoyed Hidden even more. An excellent series so far, with solid writing by LeMoyne.
This author is new to me and I was hesitant over getting this book. After reading the excerpt that was available, I just had to read this story! It was everything I hoped it would be! It had humor, action, shifters, and steamy romance. The important details were well integrated into the story and there wasn't any information dump that some authors use. The hero and heroine were very likable characters. The secondary characters enriched the story and I can't wait to read more about them in other books!
