After thwarting a catastrophic attack on the Lyceum, Jol Rivers has settled nicely into his life as a mage-in-training and local hero to his fellow students at the school.
But it isn’t long before he’s drawn into the nefarious schemes of an Imperial Inquisitor and forced to contend once again with the monstrous inhumi and their unholy the Autarch.
This is an absolute turd unfortunately. Circular plot that barely made sense. Weird, stilted writing. It reads rather like they wrote with the help of a little magic box and used a bit too much of the machine text. You really never know what you’re going to get with these.
I really enjoy the world presented here, and the characters. However, this book is sorely marred by being rushed. The pacing is off as what should likely be two books worth of build up and payoff are crammed into one that skips details, struggles with continuity, and presents surprise and unearned tension. While the cliffhanger is foreshadowed, there was little reason to end on a cliffhanger other than to spur future books. It had the opportunity to end on a high note, and then pulls the rug at the last second. Frustrating, because it could have been an amazing book or two, but as is, it is merely good.
Jol has gained a Harem that continues to increase in members. While at school, he has a reputation for living the life with his teacher and the sexiest girl on campus. Life is hard... The Dean and Crown Inquisition boss end up both as working for a demon, Jol gets to kill one....
Fun story with a few twists. Lots of fun sex with multiple partners too. Started to feel a bit stretched out at times, but ended with a bang!
Honestly I used to like Dante’s books, but they have gotten awful. He is so BAD at writing “intrigue” that it is staggering. Every character is just an abject idiot and the plots are basically the same in every series. I couldn’t finish this one and I think this is the death of me reading this author.
More of the same as School of Magic 1. A surprisingly well developed fantasy romp hiding behind a saucy cover that doesn't get overwhelmed by the debaucherously wild sex scenes. The phrase " a fox who’d just been promoted to henhouse inspector" is making it's way into my toolbox.
Pretty sure this is some veteran's horny post-service fan fiction, but whatever floats the boat
I really liked this series so far. But I got about 90% through this one and it got super rushed at the end. Had no romantic build up with 2 different characters (1 being the demon that kinda wanted to kill him) and then all of a sudden he is having sex with both?? I thought I had missed a chapter or something. It was that sudden. Kinda killed it for me
Well written. The characters were well developed with plausible personalities consistent with book 1. The action scenes were also well planned as was the normal day character interactions. The lead in to book 3 promised more big things for the future.
The ending was not in anyway what I expected!! The author always has some way to keep us on our toes but this one is not any I would have guessed!!! I can't wait for the next book to see how this is going to play out!!!!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series are definitely worth checking out.
You have a good storyline and it’s interesting but the gratuitous sex scenes kind of sucked. Need to tone that down quite a bit. Do you want me to keep reading?
