Knox

What do you do when the love of your life chooses someone else?

Easy, you find a nice rebound. If it just so happens to be his hot, dumb hunk of a brother, even better.

Elton Hill is everything wrong with people. He’s loud, annoying, way too intense, and pushes too hard. But he’s available and our secret friends-with-benefits relationship turns out to be exactly what I need.

When I start to see a different side of him, things change. Apparently, the intense, sensitive, flamingo-loving golden retriever is perfect for me, and I’m not willing to give him up.

Except, I’ve been keeping a secret that threatens to ruin the best thing that ever happened to me. I don’t know how long I can put off the inevitable, and I can only hope we’re strong enough to weather the aftermath of my mistake.

Whiskey Sour is dual-pov, friends-with-benefits, dislike-to-love romance. With lingering secrets, too many flamingos, and meddling coworkers, Whiskey Sour will leave you on the edge of your seat.

This is the second in a series of interconnected standalones featuring the workers of club XO as they try to find their HEAs.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Format: ebook

“You’re more than the life of the party, you’re more than the golden boy, you’re more than anyone thinks you are. You’re never too intense for me, never too much, and I love all that makes you so unique from anyone else. I love you because of everything you are, weird fascination with flamingos aside.”

There is just something so comforting about Addison Beck’s writing. I don’t know what it is, but I just always feel so connected to the characters and their feelings and motivations.

Knox was hard to like in the beginning. He made a lot of bad choices, and was just awful to everyone, but damn, if he didn’t worm his way into my heart. Elton, I loved from the very first page. Is he over-the-top and ridiculous and too much most of the time? Yes. But I’ll throw hands for him.

Grumpy/sunshine but make it the grumpiest grump and the brightest sunshine. These two characters could not have been any more different. And that’s why their dynamic just worked so, so well. And the way they dropped all their walls around each other and became one another’s safe space to be themselves.

I hate, hate, hate relationship angst, but the whole background story with Knox being in love with Elton’s brother, Everest, was actually so interesting and I really enjoyed the way it panned out. This book isn’t exactly slowburn, the sexual relationship starts pretty much immediately, but the progression of feelings is a lot slower and super authentic. I just loved seeing the feelings shift incrementally throughout the story.

Also, I’m so silly but I actually haven’t read Dirty Martini yet. I obviously have to go back and read it now, but I’m a little scared I’ll hold a grudge against Rhys (and kinda Everest too) due to how they acted in this book. But I need their love story so I’m prepared to be open-minded.

I can totally see this book (possibly this series) being up there with Hateful Love with my comfort reads. The vibes were just amazing.

Now give me Skylar and Cassius!

*I received a free advanced copy of this book from the author and this is my voluntary, honest review.

I loved this. But I am conflicted… (coming back to that in a second)

It’s actually possible to fall out of love with characters when you’re suddenly in another’s POV. And while I totally understand where Everest & Rhys (from book #1) are coming from, when you look through Knox’s eyes, the way they treat him is a hard pill to swallow.

My heart bled for Knox. All this rejection and invisibility he endured in his life, no wonder he wanted his sex partners to shout his name. Hearing that he was not no one but someone. Even if only for these fleeting moments.

He doesn’t want to get to know me, nobody does, so what’s the point of these pleasantries?

I loved that he found Elton when he was hurting something fierce and that Elton made the effort to tear Knox’s walls down.

“What if I’m not a good boyfriend?”
“Are you kidding?” He snorts, shaking me lightly.
“I have a feeling you’ll be the best boyfriend to ever exist.”
I scoff, but my lips finally quirk up into a smile. “The best, huh?”
“Just you wait, grumpy bear. I know I’m right.”

But here’s also what made me feel conflicted:
The book starts with Knox being convinced he just lost the love of his life. Everest was it for him. He was so sure of it he kept repeating it over and over (I mean, I blame the author for that of course). And at the end of the book he over and over says that Elton is the love of his life. I had a hard time distinguishing the depth of his love for either man and I wished that Everest would’ve only been a guy Knox loved deeply once and not have gotten the ultimate “love of my life” label too. I don’t know, it somehow cheapens that Eliot in the end was so much more to and especially for Knox than Everest ever was.

So, yeah, I really really wished the author would’ve put it differently.

Unpopular opinion: this wasn’t good. Not bad, but definitely not one of the good ones.

I honestly feel bad writing this review, because so many of my goodreads besties loved it, but it feels like they haven’t read the same book I did.

It’s the story of Knox, “the dealer” who used to hook up with Everest (from the previous book), and who’s still in love with him. And Elton, Ev’s straight older brother who’s both sunshine and golden receiver all wrapped into one.

There are several issues I had with this book.

1. Let’s start with the audio version: it’s 2 narrators for 2 POVs. And while they each were good individually, their voices didn’t “match”. While the one voicing Elton’s pov matched the character I had in mind, the other one (Knox’ voice) made Elton sound a lot younger and softer. Weird, if you keep in mind that Elton is supposed to be both older and taller/more muscular than Knox.

2. I didn’t like Knox’ “job” - he’s a drug dealer, and the author treats it like a “regular” job. I’ve read my share of mafia romances, had many characters who were thieves, executioners, assassins, all kind of shady characters whom I loved. But here… hearing Knox say that “he’s good at his job” and hear all the talk about pills and coke and how to best sell it to his customers- that didn’t feel ok. And having Elton being so naive and not realise that that’s Knox’ main job at the club? And Elton being supportive, even if he wanted something better for Knox? Sure 🙄

3. Elton crying after its first time bottoming because he’s so overwhelmed with feelings 🙄Jesus. This was almost worse than a virgin heroine in a regency bodice ripper romance. In the other hand, he had the emotional maturity of a 15yo, so maybe it fits his character 🤷‍♀️

4. Knox. For the first 30%, he was an asshole. No idea why Elton was obsessed with him, as Knox treated him like shit. And no, suddenly starting to call someone “sweetheart” doesn’t make you sweet, too.

5. Knox family. We’re not given background infos on why they’re all such a bunch of assholes to Knox. But they’re all arrogant, and entitled, treating him like shit because they never really wanted him? And he’s still going there for his weekly lunch? Why? I’m really curious about his older brother though, who seems to be set up for an upcoming book.

6. All the “slutty” dirty talk (dirty slut, little slut, slutty hole - while Elton seems to get off on it, he also claims to have a praise kink, and praising someone to be a greedy little slut just didn’t quite feel right).

Pulling out the plug, he practically roars as he runs his finger around my rim.
“It opened you up so nicely for me. You’re gaping, sweetheart. You got yourself sloppy loose like a real slut.”
I nod because that’s exactly what I am. I’m a slut for him. Needy, horny, greedy, all of that.

You know what I mean?

7. Elton calling Knox “Knoxy" 🙄

8. Oh and the third act drama that is so very predictable.

9. Also: why is the book called “Whiskey sour”? They drink quite a lot while at the club, but drinks like the “Blue nipple” were a lot more memorable, the one night where they drank whiskey was just… there 🤷‍♀️

2.5 stars rounded up because I still couldn’t put it down, despite the fact that I contemplated dnf-ing it several times.

There are probably spoilers ahead but I don't know how to review this and put my thoughts across without spoiling some parts so I guess skip it if you don't want spoilers!
***

I was really loving this right up until about 90% and then I wasn't happy with how fucking rushed the end was! My Kindle was showing 23 minutes left and they were nowhere near resolving the issue let alone getting back together, they don't even reconcile until the very last chapter!!! That just wasn't enough for me because it was one speech where Knox doesn't say anything he hasn't already said, but now everything is ok because he said it while wearing a suit on a beach.... For me it needed a bit more substance around their reconciliation and I wanted to see them repairing the damage to the relationship, maybe even their wedding - but it just jumps straight to their honeymoon in the epilogue and I kinda felt a little cheated!

I absolutely loved Knox in this book after thinking he was an absolute dickhead in book one, but it was really clear that he was emotionally abandonded by literally everyone - even his best friend Everest completely abandons him for his boyfriend and is completely oblivious to Knox's feelings. No wonder the guy was so hostile to other people. Seeing him drop his walls around Elton though was adorable and I loved that he took him to see flamingos! The matching tattoos were adorable as well. Knox as a boyfriend was like a whole new person and it was great to see him happy! I also cried when he was heartbroken!

Elton is the most intense dude ever but it was always really obvious he just wants his person and didn't really know how to go about it in a less abrupt way. He was extremely dramatic about absolutely everything but even when he was annoying and overbearing he was still somehow a likeable character....

They weirdly fit really well together, but like I said, I wanted to see them when their relationship was out in the open, I wanted to see them working to repair the damage to their trust, and I wanted to see them get married and at least get a dog!!!

"You taught me that I was written something when everybody else told me I was nothing."

Honestly didn't think this would be higher than a 4 star when I first started. I really didn't like Knox and it felt like a lot slower start than book 1. But Knox changed my mind big time. He's a sweet broken boy that was forced to protect himself by hiding behind a rough persona.

Infinity Stars for Knox and Elton!!!

This is by far one of my favorite books of all time!

My heart breaks for Knox, he's just so misunderstood 🥹 and I just love how Elton didn't waver when it came to him. This book suprised me by how emotional it made me cause it's not an emotional book at all. The spice in this was top tierrr of courseeee. Again by far one of my favs and I will fight for Knox ANY DAY. ALL DAY.

"His breath catches in his throat, and then he’s kissing me. Wrapped up together on the dance floor, nobody knows who we are. Just two people in a sea of everything and nothingness, floating together as Hell takes over Miami. Just two people in a crowd of forgiveness, moving our lips to the symphony of Heaven around us. Just two people realizing how much they enjoy the blasphemy of it all."

Whiskey Sour is book 2 in the Miami Nights and Club Lights series by Addison Beck. The books are a series of interconnected standalones featuring the workers of club XO as they search for their HEAs. This is Knox and Elton's story - recall that Elton is Everest's brother and Rhys' best friend from book 1, Dirty Martini, and Knox is Everest's best friend.

What To Expect:

❥ Dual POV
❥ MM college romance
❥ Bi-awakening
❥ Best friend's brother
❥ Ex-lover's brother
❥ F*uck buddies to more
❥ Found family
❥ Steamy first times
❥ HEA

Loved all the relationships and side characters, loved the hook-ups before the feelings arrived and of course loved all the spicy moments.

4.5⭐️

This was such a strong read for me. Elton and Knox have immediate chemistry, and the attraction is obvious from the start—no waiting around, no pretending it’s not there. What makes the story work is how the emotional side develops alongside the physical one. The spice is frequent and confident, but it never feels empty.
The tension comes from personal baggage and emotional hesitation rather than lack of attraction. Both men want each other; the question is whether they’re ready to be honest about what that means long-term. Watching them navigate trust, expectations, and vulnerability is what really elevates the book.
The banter is sharp, the intimacy is well paced, and the character growth feels earned without dragging the story down. Overall, it’s a sexy, emotionally satisfying read that hits hard and sticks the landing 🥃

There is so much hatred in my heart but the one certainty I have after this book is that I was way too generous in giving the first book 2 stars, I hate Everest and Rhys too much for it to be anything more than a reluctant 1 star.

Knox was in love with his best friend, Everest, and after years of friendship mixed with hookups, he thought he had a shot. But when Everest finds the love of his life in Rhys (gag), Knox is confused, angry and heartbroken. He is a prickly motherfucker, with no friends, a family that looks down on him, and a lot of issues. So he decides to have a rebound, and who better than that but to fool around with Everest's older brother Elton? And it just goes as you'd expect, feelings are caught and a casual hookup turns into friends with benefits, to more. But Knox's secret has the potential to ruin everything...

I would have liked this book so much more if Everest and Rhys were palatable, but I hate them so much. The fact that Everest is supposedly Knox's best and only friend, knows how hard Knox has it and how lonely he is, but decides to push him out of his life anyway is absolutely insane. Similarly, Rhys is Elton's supposed best friend, but they have like 1 conversation in the entire book. Everyone treats Everest like this beautiful baby angel so pure and innocent that can do no harm when the guy legit only ever acted out of self-interest. Knox hating Elton at first mainly because of what Everest told him, okay Knox might have been overprotective but you don't hate someone for nothing, I just know Everest was talking shit despite being so sweet and pure. Everest is just a waste of space and Rhys is a waste of air and they deserve each other.

I actually liked the relationship between Knox and Elton, I thought it was so sweet and yeah, Knox is an asshole at first, but I found that his trauma and insecurities were better explained and justified than Everest's or Rhys', which made him so much more likeable. Elton is a crazy motherfucker who has zero idea how human relationships work, but he is also so adorable and sweet and endearing and his love for flamingos is kinda funny. They had so many great moments where it was so obvious they were slowly falling for each other and I loved that. Knox taking him to feed flamingos, them talking things out and being vulnerable, the matching tattoos... That shit was adorable!!! Also while the dirty talk was so cringe (there are only so many times I can read the words "be my good slut" before losing it), the praise kink shit was hot! Sorry!

The eventual reveal of Knox and Everest's past "relationship" was rushed as checked and I didn't really enjoy it, but tbh between around 30% (the moment we stop seeing Everest and Rhys) right up till the drama at the end (where rhys and Everest sadly come back), I had a super fun time.

I think I would've really enjoyed this more if they were not filthy rich though, because that was both super unnecessary and irrelevant while making everything less believable. You tell me the marketing major son of the richest guy around got an internship at a nightclub, when he could have gotten a job anywhere else? "the pay is good" YOU ARE A MULTI MILLIONAIRE MY GUY. And Knox being a drug dealer while rich (granted it's his parents' money but still???) just rubbed me the wrong way tbh, esp since he was able to quit so easily so it was just a hobby lol.

Now the side cast. That's a hit or miss for me with some whose book I'm really looking forward to (Butch, and probably Davis, and Archibald, Knox's brother). But others pissed me off. I think I said enough about how much I hate Rhys and Everett, but Skylar pissed me off too. He was originally funny as heck, but he turned into a weirdly hypocritical manic pixie boy, being like "I am rude to Knox because he is mean and I don't like mean people" (fair) while dating the scum of the Earth. Knox called him out at one point like "Skylar is so fucking awful for not seeing his best friend Cassius is PININg for him and he is so right for that). After reading the sneak peak into their book (which is coming right after this one) I can't say I'm excited about it. Another weird parasocial "you're the only person I need to survive" book, yikes.

Anyway, the romance was cute, the side characters are a mixed bag and the conclusion was whatever. I definitely have a complicated relationship with this series but I know myself, I know I'll keep up with it whether I like it or not... Help me. I just need Rhys and Everest to disappear now.

4.5 rounded up!

knox!! THE MOST PRECIOUS.
elton just deserves the whole world & knox is gonna give it to him (he’s just gonna be grumpy about it first). 🥹

these two were just perfect, i loved how grumpy knox was but i also loved that elton wasn’t going put up with his grumpy drama, he knew what he wanted. period.

my only issue was the third act breakup, i definitely think it could have been avoided, hence the .5 stars taken away.

i’ve said it once and ill say it again, addison writes the hottest smut known to man, no one can change my mind. 🤪🔥

5+⭐️ I didn't think anything could top Dirty Martini, but Whiskey Sour might be the one - I fell head over heels with Knox and Elton! We jump right back into the story where the first one ended, and as Knox and Elton drowns their sorrows in way to many *special drinks* made by the incredible Skylar, Knox soon finds out that Elton might be the rebound he needs.

- I wonder if he truly knows what it feels like to be alone. Alone like me.

This one is a true grumpy x sunshine-story, and I had such a wonderful time with it. There are some truly gutwrenching moments that made my stomach drop, and as I always feel with Addison Becks books, you get so caught up with the characters and their emotions. Elton is also my favorite, and there was so many aspects about his character that I just felt that I could relate to in many ways.

- Nobody had ever stood up for me. Nobody has ever cared. Nobody has ever thought I was worth it. He does.

Overall, I had an amazing time with the second book of the Miami Nights and Club Lights-series, and I'm just loving this series so far! All the side characters are also so great, and the more I read about them, the more intrigued I am to read their stories as well (hopefully!). If you love grumpy x sunshine, f**k buddies to lovers, opposite attracts, brothers ex, and tons of moments where you smile uncontrollably cus the characters are just so great, this is the book for you!

A HUGE thank you to Addison Beck and her team for providing me with this ARC, it means the world to me! <3

This is not only my FAVOURITE BOOK IN THE SERIES, but also ONE OF MY TOP PICKS OF THE YEAR. And it's all thanks to Knox.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t really excited to read his book at first because he didn’t leave a great impression in book 1. Honestly, for a good portion of this book, he really got on my nerves, and I kind of expected that... What I didn’t expect was to actually end up liking him. I went from absolutely hating him to being head over heels for him in just a few chapters. Guess that’s what happens in the hands of talented author.

Most of the time, Knox comes off as a huge jerk. Whenever anyone tries to approach him, his knee-jerk reaction is to flip out and push them away. And all of his issues trace back to his childhood. He’s a prick on the outside, but deep down, he’s just a lonely guy. I never thought I would get emotional over Knox, and Elton's unrelenting support for him just melted my heart.

This is definitely going to be a comfort read for me.

THIS IS HOW YOU DO A F*CK BUDDY TO LOVERS!!

Elton is such a sweetie pie. Always looking out for others, lending a helping hand, and just all around a nice guy. However, it would seem the people in his life suck (yes, I'm talking to you Rhys and Everest) and he's feeling super lonely. All he wants is to find that special someone, and he gets friend zone or rejected every single time.

It was really nice to have an MMC who wants to find his soulmate, and who is desperately seeking it. I feel like it's rarely written about, and if it is, it's not to the same extent. I felt like we really got to feel Eltons pain in trying to find someone to spend time with. I just wanted to hug him through the pages so bad.

Now we have our bad boy Knox, and as suspected, he's always getting over Everest and Rhys. Surprise to no one who read Dirty Martini, Knox was actually in love with his bestie, and Everest had no idea. After feeling alone after boundaries are set, a drunken night sounds great. Andddd in comes Elton.

I was super surprised that I fell in love with Knox. Once again, I'm used to the same narrative surrounding the "bad boy" of the story, but the writing was so well done that I felt like i got additional layers to Knox. I think it's mostly the little details that are thrown in that add up in the end. My heart went out for Knox and his feeling of abandonment, both from his friend, and his family.

In theory, these two shouldn't work at all. Elton is sunshine personified and Knoxy boy is definitely our black cat, but the chemistry between them, from the beginning might I add, is scorching. Through each other, they both give and take what each other needs, and it's a fun ride along the way. Not to mention some of the best spice I've ever read.

Fantastic sequel, great spice, amazing chemistry, and just enough pull at the heart strings to make this a five star read.

Ever since dirty martini I’ve been so excited to read Elton’s book! Such a sweetheart, just looking for love. And Knox is the token bad boy who hates everyone (but is a secret softie) aka my catnip. This was super cute and VERY hot. 👏🏼 I can’t wait for the next book!

Whiskey Sour is book two in the Miami Nights and Club Lights series. This MM friends with benefits romance story is about Elton and Knox.

We first got a steamy glimpse of Elton and Knox at the end of Dirty Martini, and I definitely couldn’t wait to read more about them. Elton is intense, but he is also sensitive, cheerful, and just the sweetest guy. Knox is the mean and prickly a-hole that has his walls built up and thinks he is destined to be alone.

Elton wants a serious relationship and is looking for the one. He hasn’t had any luck, and his brother Everest convinces him to not force it and instead let loose and have fun. Knox is suffering from unrequited love and is looking for a rebound. And after a drunk and steamy hook up at the club XO, maybe Elton and Knox are exactly what each other needs. It isn’t long before Elton and Knox make a deal to be friends with benefits.

Elton and Knox are opposites with Elton being the polo wearing golden retriever and Knox being the tattooed, pierced and grumpy bad boy. And let me tell you, their dynamic was incredible. They were extremely hot together and their chemistry was amazing. I enjoyed watching Elton and Knox become so much more to each other, but I also knew that Knox was keeping a secret that could ruin it all.

It was great to see Knox’s walls finally come down and how he became a better person. It was sad that he believed that everyone thought he was nothing, and I loved how Elton taught Knox he was worth something. Elton wanted someone to love him and accept him for the things he wanted and the person he was, and I was so happy he found it. I have to say Elton stole my heart and I wanted him to get his HEA.

I have loved getting to know these amazing characters, and I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

I love me a grumpy x sunshine where the grumpy it’s really grumpy and the sunshine is really sunshine!
I loved how everything started casual and it spiralled in something beautiful, I loved Knox and his personal development. Elton always with his heart on his sleeve was so cute and truly heartwarming ♥️

"He's my Elton, my sun and he's special to me."

Whiskey Sour by Addison Beck

OMG, KNOX!!! I didn’t think it was possible, but here I am, floored, obsessed, and completely won over! If you’ve read the first book, you already know about Knox and Elton. Elton was my sweet golden retriever from the start, his big heart, his vulnerability, everything about him tugged at my emotions. When he found out the truth about his best friend and brother, I felt his pain. One single line broke me; it was so raw and relatable.

And then there’s Knox. Ugh, Knox. Let me be real: I did not like him at first. I mean, sure, his character had depth, but actually liking him? Nope. Even in the beginning of this book, he tested my patience. But something told me to stay open to him, and wow, what a ride. Watching Knox and Elton find their way together was EVERYTHING.

When Knox, with the help of Elton, started to peel back his layers and let us see the real him? That’s when it hit me. This man wasn’t just cold or cruel; he was hurt. He’d been guarding his heart for so long that hurting others felt like his only defense. Knox didn’t agree to Elton’s casual proposition for fun, he did it to cover his own wounds. And Elton, oh sweet Elton, just wanted a break from the endless rejection, the feeling of never being “good enough.” They were both running from their pain, but when the feelings got real? That’s when things got messy and SO. GOOD.

Knox’s pain was palpable from the very first sentence of the book. It sets the stage so perfectly. He thought Everest, Elton’s brother, was the one, the love of his life, only to find out he was just a fling in Everest’s eyes. And then having to watch Everest find happiness with someone else? GUT WRENCHING. Who hasn’t felt that kind of heartbreak, where it feels like the world is ending, and you’ll never find love again?

So when Elton, blissfully unaware of Knox and Everest’s past, suggested they become friends with benefits, Knox agreed. In his mind, what better way to move on than with Everest’s brother? Messy? Yes. But also SO compelling.

Elton, my sunshine in human form, stole the show. He was DONE being told he was too much, too intense, too eager. He set out to focus on himself, and I couldn’t have been prouder. His proposal to Knox wasn’t out of weakness but confidence. He wanted something fun, something on his terms. And when Knox was awful to him? Elton walked away. He demanded respect and wouldn’t settle for less. THAT is the energy we all need!

Elton’s journey was pure inspiration. He stood his ground, knew his worth, and even when the truth about Knox and Everest came out, he put himself first, regardless of the pain. I wanted to cheer for him every step of the way and hug him.

This book wasn’t just about a drunken one night stand turned romance. It was about standing up for yourself, embracing growth, and trusting life to take you where you’re meant to go. It’s a story about letting go of fear and opening yourself to the beautiful things waiting for you on the other side of change.

Knox’s transformation? Incredible. Elton’s strength? EVERYTHING. Together? They were a perfect mix of messy, beautiful, and real.

This book had me all over the place and feeling ALL the emotions. It’s such a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to change, to grow, and to find the love you deserve. I’m OBSESSED and can’t wait to reread it a hundred times over! 💕

After reading and devouring Dirty Martini over the summer, I couldn’t wait to devour Knox and Elton’s story! What happens when the moody, grumpy, tattooed bad boy falls for the golden retriever sweetheart? Well, it was perfection of course!

Knox is determined to push everyone away. He’s convinced himself that he’s happy being alone, and he doesn’t need anyone except maybe the one person he can’t have.

Elton is just.. happy. So freakin happy and positive all the time. He is SUNSHINE personified. He’s landed a new job at the club, and now he’s in forced proximity with Knox, who he shared a very spicy night with.

These two make no sense, they might be so wrong for one another but Elton is determined to break down Knox’s walls, and Knox? Well, he’s not sure how to feel about Elton. He wants to push him away as much as he wants to pull him in.

Elton is so amazing. He’s authentically himself and knows what he deserves, and won’t accept less. He has the most amazing Bi-Awakening, and he embraces his feelings with both arms wide open.

I absolutely loved these two, and their HEA has stuck with me since finishing. I miss them already. And the flamingos. I love those flamingos. 🦩💚

Absolutely loved this book! Knox started off being super reserved and alone and ended up with a partner that loved him more than anything and made him see he wasn’t alone in the world. Elton’s golden retriever personality made him adorable. I wish we could’ve seen more of them as a couple. I also wish we could have seen more of Elton and Rhys friendship. Wasn’t a fan of how the XO team was excluding Knox all the time either. Still an amazing read.

for such an easy read, this book was... rough.

what the hell happened? i was so excited for this book. and it was great! really great, for the first 30-40%. maybe, if i'm being generous. elton is exhausting. the writing made me cringe. previous beloved side characters made me want to hit my head against the wall.

elton? dear god, elton was the worst part. might have given the book three stars if he wasn't so... whatever the fuck that was. exhausting? embarrassing? unbelievable?

yikes. i'll read the next book in the series, but... yikes.

Look… Knox is a real sh!thead, but he did grow on me and when I fell for him, I fell for him hard… eventually! lol. Idk why I didn’t realize he was a rich kid in the first book but WOW, his family is the f*cking worst. He was an oops baby with neglectful, awful parents, so makes sense why he resents the golden boy. Especially when all he ever heard about him was Everest’s skewed version of reality. But damn, he was MEAN. Our sweet bb golden boy is really just a hopeless romantic who is desperate for acceptance and a white picket fence. Knox decides he’s going to use him to get over Everest. Like… he fantasizes about Everest WHILE ELTON IS INSIDE HIM and does not inform him that he and his brother were ever more than acquaintances, so you just know it’s going to blow up in his face in a spectacular fashion. Amidst all that tension there were still plenty of aweeeee and lol moments. Character growth? Leaps and bounds. The grand gesture? NAILED IT! I have forgiven him, but this book reinforced how much Everest’s actions wreaked havoc on EVERYONE! Just glad our boys got their hard earned HEA.
🦩Side note: I too collect flamingo things, so this immediately endeared Elton to me. He deserves all the good things in the world.🦩
ETA: it cannot be overstated how hot that flip f*cking scene was 😅

whoa, look at me finishing this one!

(life has been crazy.. got caught up in a situationship and didn’t read for DAYS)

but i missed reading, and i wanted to finish this one, so i did :)

i really liked the beginning of the story, and how their relationship evolved. there was a lot of smut though, which i don’t really mind, i just wanted them to communicate a bit more instead of falling into bed with each other. other than that, i really like this series! i’m very excited for the next one bc i love the tropes 🤭
