Ella Dark #9

Een Meisje Vervangbaar (Een Ella Dark FBI Thriller—Boek 9)

Rate this book

What a great ending for a hunt that took the whole series! I was hooked from the beginning of the story and I found it refreshing to see Ripley acting more like a 'normal' human being and finally being conscious of her humanity. Ella is more than ready to assume her role as an agent! Highly recommended read!

this was a really good one.
the case was so interesting and once again, watching all the pieces come together was soo good. idk how blake pierce comes up with these stories but they are dark and twisted. i thought this was going to be another copy cat but, no it was even better. i had suspected the killer after he had said his wife’s name but i thought maybe it was one he thought on the spot. then when things started to come together i was like 😲
i’m glad you we finally got our ending with tobias campbell. it was a great fight and and insane story to see unfold. good riddance to that sick bastard.
also, i actually will be so sad if ripley is fr retiring :( i love mia and ella’s dynamic and if she leaves i will be so sad. i like paige ellis who i think will be ella’s new partner butttt nothing will beat the original duo.

This one ended up being a bit creepy. When you realize who the bad guy was and what he did past and present, so very creepy. I'm glad that Ella and Ripley caught him and put him out of business.

But the big excitement of this one came at the end. Finally the witch is dead, or Tobias at least. I'm glad that both Ella and Ripley can live their lives without that threat hanging over them. Now we just have to hope that all of his devotees will leave them alone with him gone too.

I was a bit sad when Ripley announced her retirement. She deserves it, but these 2 women work well together.

Ella and Mia are on their last case together . It feels bittersweet and to make things worse Tobias is still free and after them . This new case was related to Mia first case ever and it was unsolved up until now well mainly because of Ella and her theories . As everyone else is DC searched for Tobias he had some how made his way to Maryland where the agents happened to be . After taking down their case they focused on Tobias . Mia knew this man as he was her personal tormentor for the last 16 years and Ella had only known him since being partner with Mia . He was always step ahead of them but the final showdown did not disappoint they literally went out guns blazing . Mia retired and went to see her son like she planned and Ella was on a two week paid vacation but before she could leave another personal mystery of hers has come up . For one she still has to find out more about the red diamonds and the loan her father took days before being killed . Second Ben the man in her life has a profile in the FBI data base and Ella was definitely caught of guard about this . Also who is going to be her partner will it be the rookie she spent a case with or would she be solo ?

Finally over! In this installment, we finally see Ella and Mia take Tobias down, along with the aftermath of what his reign has instilled in them. While they take him down, they also handle a final case together, which is quite bittersweet for these characters. With the usual twist and turns, seeing who else Tobias had working with him and a giant manhunt where he per usual is two steps ahead of them, this was the perfect ending to this series-long case that stemmed from decades before the first book. I am interested to see where Ella ends up next with the retiring of Mia and getting a new partner!

Ella is up against a truly twisted killer this time.
When Charlotte starts out to run to the post office to get a package in this day's mail she wasn't planning a literally tripping over a dead body and not just dead but one that's been cut in half. 2 more bodies are found and all of them resembling a famous unsolved killing. The killer is leaving obscure clues that he thinks no one is smart enough to figure out but he didn't count on Ella.
And of course the long running theme of Ella and her partner Mia being stalked by the old nemesis Tobias Campbell who is out to kill them both and this time he comes really close!

Blake Pierce is my favorite suspense author. We are use to having twists and turns with Ella and Mia but this story went to a dark place. I really enjoyed this book nine (9) in the Ella Dark FBI Suspense Thriller. We finally get the wrap up of Tobias Campbell and the end of the partnership and here comes the crazy end of that story with her looking into her father's death and ends up looking into someone else close to her. I always love Blake Pierce suspense thrillers because they are so exciting.

Same old, same old.

I did like the idea of the serial killer this time around though it was a super cool and interesting concept. Very well thought out. It’s just a bummer it was dragged down by everything else that is awful with this series. I think that’s what’s getting me through this series is the fact that at least the killers are interesting.

A spine-tingling cliffhanger!

The serial killer Tobias Campbell escaped from prison and Ella and Mia, FBI agents are on the lookout for him, looking over their shoulders at the same time. In the midst of this, they land a big case, including a copycat crime patterned after the Black Dahlia killer. But that crime was never solved. Would this one be solved?.Would they find Tobias Campbell?
This book has a terrific cliffhanger at the end. You know, the kind that immediately sends you searching for the next book in the series.

As always, a good read

I have to say, even though I should be used to twists and turns in these books, I didn't expect some of the twists in this one. Ella Dark is probably one of my favourite series by Blake Pierce. The books keep me on the edge of my seat and guessing who the murderer is. That's a good thing. I hate when the story is too predictable. Two thumbs up for this book and can't wait to read the next one.

I love listening to these books but the recurring theme of having a big bad that spans multiple books that is brought down in one chapter at the end of a book drives me crazy. It's all this tension and build up only to feel like overcoming the bid bad guy is an afterthought. This seems to be the structure in every single book and while the case by case stories are intriguing and what I will continue to listen for, the big bad trope needs some work.

The end of Tobias

I enjoy Ella & Mia's partnership but now its time for Ella to go on her own. So glad to see the end of Tobias and his games how can a inmate have that much power in and out of jail and why would Mia want to know what his told his victims her stalling almost cause her life.

This was my first Ella Dark novel. What a treat! While I found some of the writing a bit simplistic the storyline was interesting. I wondered where the series would head since the main storyline appeared cleared up; however, the ending left quite a cliff hangar. I liked the characters they seemed to work well and not to be too self obsessed.

Blake Pierce writes really good mystery books and I love reading her books. I feel the same about this one that I have most of the books I've read of hers this past year. Good but not great. To many similarities in all her series. Still good but just too much the same in all of them

Ella and Ripley face another serial killer and Tobias is at his games again. This killer brings out some fears of monsters hiding in plain sight and dare we see the end of Tobias? A great story in the series but I'm worried about Ella's love life. Can't she have one thing go right?
